A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Niners Defense/Deebo Carry Us To Victory

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 4, 2022

Everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that Deebo’s epic td run to glory almost didn’t happen. That ball was an inch away from being tipped by the CB and likely run back for a pick 6. But, thank god that didn’t happen. It was a typical terrible throw from Jimmy but not one of his worst ever.

The Giants lost a positively forgettable game.

Regarding Twitter— I totally respect not participating on that site if you think it’s the cause of many evils in the world. But it isn’t all bad. It’s fantastic for gathering information quickly. Is there disinformation? Sure, but you’d have to be an idiot to not see the difference between the two. Facebook is awful but I like seeing pics of people I haven’t seen in 20 years. So it’s not all bad either.

Just follow the people you want to follow and you can bypass most of the bullshit.

Looks to me that Jimmy G seems to have more zip on his arm post-surgery? Do people agree???

    • willedav said, on October 4, 2022 at 10:07 am

Oh man, Niners fans don’t agree about anything on JG. Hope at least few of them are little farther away from ledge. D thrashed Stafford and McVay lost another coaching battle. Very satisfying game to watch.

Myers is in last year of contract most Pads fans hate, so unlikely he comes back. They have to win to stay ahead of Phils so games still mean something.
Wonder if Baggs has more to say about LaStella.

    • Macdog said, on October 4, 2022 at 8:49 am

Yeah, Phils won season series and hold tiebreaker, so I guess these games mean something. Giants now 5-12 vs. Pads, and combined 9-27 vs. Pads and Dogpile, with two more to play, yeeeesh.

.500 for the season would be a fairly decent accomplishment with this band of AAA rejects.

Years from now this might end up being our most forgettable year ever

  4. alleykat69 said, on October 4, 2022 at 10:56 am

Jimmy still has that high release throws that drive me insane, had a chance to hit Dwelly on a big play who was wide open and over thru him, just have to hit those throws( which we all have said)
Deebo is slippery then pigs in slop and his cutbacks incredible had Rams defenders just gasping for air and moving slower then slow as he once again toyed with another defense on bigtime YAC for 50 yards!

Player of the Game ( lots to choose from) has to be LB Dre Greenlaw who had an incredible 15 tackles he was all over the field sidelines to sidelines , blowing up gaps nailing Akers &Henderson for losses ( think he might of had a sack as well?) he leads the team in tackles with way over 30 now, just glad to have him back healthy he’s a force along side Warner, and Shairr (sp) not chopped liver as well have perhaps the best LB trio in football..

“Wonder if Baggs has more to say about LaStella.”

Such a terrible signing. About the only positive thing is that at least it was for 10 million a year instead of 20 million.

    • willedav said, on October 4, 2022 at 12:47 pm

Kap seems all in on him still. Read story from Baggs in Athletic about Longoria being willing to restructure next year deal. Said he’d only go to place where he has home, Tampa AZ or SF.
Kap was all in on him too…idk, but setting up to be off season where lot of guys brought back.

Sheesh, that’s imbecilic if true. While there at it, bring back Zito. Going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was misquoted.

I’m on Twitter, followed by Blade, Magnus, Macdog, Bill Madlock, and about 1,900 others. My so-called publisher of Baseball’s Starry Night required it of me in 2012. From the start, it has been an attempt to sell books (@kocakwords). I’d go so far as to say it’s what made BSN original and different: it retold the games from fans’ perspectives and I relied on Twitter archives in a novel way to do that. That said, Obama was right. It’s an echo chamber. I’ve always known it’s nothing more than tossing a grenade over the transom and walking away. I rarely get involved in troll-debating-crosstalking. It’s useless and gives me knots in my stomach.

I’m not on Facebook and loathe it more than Twit. I know I’m missing out on kids’ and grandson’s pix. I can’t abide it. Worst is when I overhear someone say, “They said on Facebook and I unfriended them and then BLAHBLAH BLAH … ad nauseam.” I created an author page on FB but it did nothing.

I am told that kids like my grandson, 11, don’t search on Google. They go to YouTube. So, now, in the last week I’ve livestreamed there four times, all reciting quotations. Last I checked, I had 4 viewers, and they might all be me. Talk about echo chamber -er -er -er -er -er.

Sort of related to the topic of social media, and politics in the last 8 years or so….I always figured there was a certain amount of crazy people in the nation, but it turns out there’s a lot more crazy than I realized. These are people that can dress themselves, drive to work, and function pretty well in life; but they also believe that the Covid vaccine is putting microchips in people so the government can monitor them, and that somebody named Q wanted them to overthrow the government. How do we make any sense of this?

    • zumiee said, on October 4, 2022 at 2:57 pm

The dual consequences of social media. It allowed a lot of nice, cool people to find each other over common interests; but it also allowed a lot of crackpots to find each other over common interests.

    • Flavor said, on October 4, 2022 at 3:29 pm

Agreed. I had no idea 30% or more of our country was straight crazy.

  9. willedav said, on October 4, 2022 at 3:21 pm

Funny, for all the heat Bochy got for being stuck on vets, I think Kap is too.

  10. blade3colorado said, on October 4, 2022 at 3:25 pm

The biggest problem with social media is anonymity. Things you wouldn’t say to anyone face to face, are not perceived issues on social media sites. Even sites such as the Flap, I know all of us (or at least, I will admit) wish we hadn’t hit the “reply” button . . . but we did, and it’s out there. Basically anonymity and perceived anonymity provides a “shield” for people to say and do anything they want.

For psychos, malcontents, and others whom lack basic social skills, they don’t care. Today, social media is a cesspool of lies, fake people, and scammers. Everyone recalls that couple from Florida, where the boyfriend murdered his girlfriend in the midst of a USA road trip. Their earlier Instagram posts looked idyllic, but we all know what happened eventually, i.e., the BF murdering his GF and he eventually committed suicide.

I have no answers and this blurb I took from the web doesn’t either . . .

“People use Snapchat to share their exciting adventures, post about how much they love their significant other on Facebook, and load up their Instagram page with heavily staged photos. But in reality, you have no way of knowing whether this is all a farce. While it looks great on the surface, that person could be in massive debt, on bad terms with their significant other, and just desperate for Instagram likes as a form of validation. One simple way out of this mess is for everyone to quit lying on social media. But in the era of Instagram influencers and YouTubers who earn millions from being inauthentic, that isn’t going to happen anytime soon.”

One thing the Internet has taught me is that you have to know when not to respond, when to just ignore, when to block, etc. It takes two people to engage. I block people all the time on Twitter, it’s great

      • blade3colorado said, on October 4, 2022 at 3:32 pm

You, unca, Pawlie, MacDog, SD, etc., are the 1% percenters . . . I block people all the time too, most of them are scammers (financial sites).

  11. mrsprtdude said, on October 4, 2022 at 3:32 pm

2 more games for the Flap… Craig did you announce the exact day your shutting it down? I recall through the WS right?

    • Flavor said, on October 4, 2022 at 4:45 pm

probably, yes. Doubt it’s before that.

  12. willedav said, on October 4, 2022 at 3:36 pm

“Longo’s bat speed is still there. The power is still there. He’s still a good, athletic defender…To the degree that Evan wants to continue to play ML baseball I think he’ll have plenty of opportunities to do that.” Kap quoted by Slush in Chron today.

  13. willedav said, on October 4, 2022 at 3:43 pm

From Alex Pavlovic on nbcsportsbayarea: “He’s still very much a part of this team and the last conversation was exactly as you might expect, it was let’s get ready for ’23 and work your ass off and put yourself in position to be a great baseball player for the Giants next year,” Kap said about LaStella.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 4, 2022 at 4:30 pm

Provided Stella can walk by then. Longo? God please no. I’m still hoping against hope Crawfish retires.

i follow 668 people on twitter, mostly for news information—all the beat writers, horse racing and poker writers, national writers who break stories, etc. I also follow the Lauren Boebert’s of the twitterverse just cause I think it’s important to keep an eye on what they’re saying and thinking. Got a lot of friends on twitter too, and Flappers. There’s certainly a way to just follow people you like or are interested in. I don’t get this take that if you’re on twitter you are poisoned somehow.

    • willedav said, on October 4, 2022 at 6:26 pm

Those basketball pics you sent from that site I forget, were fantastic.
Kawhi Leonard played in preseason game in Seattle last night and there was lot of fanfare about Sonics. Gus Williams out of USC was one of best guards I ever saw. Got into some contract disputes, but man Warriors should never have let him become an FA.

    Judge hit 62…

    • Flavor said, on October 4, 2022 at 5:23 pm

i follow mlb.com on twitter and they were showing all his live at bats so i clicked on it and boom next pitch i got to see history. Twitter strikes again!

  16. snarkk said, on October 4, 2022 at 5:36 pm

Do we know for sure that Judge doesn’t or hasn’t used PEDs this year? No, we don’t, and we won’t know. Anybody that says they know for sure is FOS. I root for the guy, but as far as I’m concerned, nobody knows he’s completely clean any more than they know Bonds and Clemens were dirty…

    • Macdog said, on October 4, 2022 at 6:15 pm

It is a little curious that he’s hit 16 more HRs than next-most player Schwarber.

  17. willedav said, on October 4, 2022 at 6:48 pm

Take a look at Giants lineup tonight, with Crawford getting night off–how many of them are back next season? I’d say 8 of 9, though maybe there’s different back up C than Wynns.

  18. willedav said, on October 4, 2022 at 7:04 pm

Judge will win AL slash line triple crown by a mile, OB slugging and OPS.
Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve are both in top 4 in all categories.
Goldschmidt trails Freeman by 3 pct. points in OB, .407 to .404, but wins other 2.

  19. James said, on October 4, 2022 at 7:27 pm

I truly do not understand how Logan Webb is more successful than Alex Cobb. It’s not a mystery, it’s absurd.

  20. James said, on October 4, 2022 at 7:29 pm

This is Bonds country. Aaron Judge’s 62nd, whatever ….

    • Flavor said, on October 4, 2022 at 7:33 pm

agreed. And did you see what dumbass Maris Jr. said?

      • James said, on October 4, 2022 at 7:46 pm

Neither one of the clean guys got to 61 within 154 games.

      • djloo27 said, on October 4, 2022 at 7:47 pm

Has the Maris family ever publicly denounced McGwire who they were all in on back in ’98?

      • djloo27 said, on October 4, 2022 at 8:21 pm

As everyone knows but seems to forget, it was McGwire who broke Maris’ record – not Bonds…

  21. mrsprtdude said, on October 4, 2022 at 7:51 pm

Re Big Mac? No Asswipe hypocrite

  22. djloo27 said, on October 4, 2022 at 7:55 pm

Giants response should be the announcement that a statue to Bonds is being erected…

    • James said, on October 4, 2022 at 8:10 pm

It would vaguely be like erecting the baseball equivalent of a confederate statue. Ok, I shouldn’t say that, better not hit “Post Comment” ….

  23. djloo27 said, on October 4, 2022 at 8:15 pm

If Longoria is a Giant next year, I’m moving to East LA and getting Dodger season tickets…

    • James said, on October 4, 2022 at 8:24 pm

Longo at third, Craw at SS, LaStella/Wilmer at second, Belt/Davis at 1B, Estrada in LF, Yaz/Slater in CF, Pederson/Villar DH and a mystery signing for RF! Let’s prove 2022 was the fluke, not 2021!

  24. Locojuan said, on October 5, 2022 at 6:52 am

My plan today is to watch the game and no matter if they win or lose, end the season with a positive frame of mind.
