A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

2022 Post Season

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 6, 2022

Thankfully, Macdog has gotten to the bottom of this 1975 mystery and figured out why we only played 161 that year…..lqtm. See? This is why the Flap is so great. I honestly went to sleep wondering about that and this morning I get an answer.

Let’s take a look at the post season bracket and kick that shit around for a while seeing as how the 2022 post season is gonna be the Flap’s swan song. In terms of *winning it all* I typically go against teams with the best records in baseball just because this isn’t like the NBA, literally any team can beat any other team. But this is the wild card. There is no dominant record team. Seattle is the easy underdog pick in the AL, I think they’ll get past Toronto. By the way, whoever gets to play the Yankees will probably beat them (due to my theory above). I don’t have an opinion about TB or Cleveland except that I’m rooting for TB because I hate Cleveland’s fans.

NL wild card is trickier. I’m gonna say St. Louis gets by Philly and the Mets take care of the Padres. I honestly don’t even know how the Mets lost the division to the Braves, they are the better team. That’s actually a pretty decent reason to take the Padres to be honest with you. But no, i’ll go with the Mets.

So I’ll take TB, Seattle, St. Louis and The Mets.

How do you guys see the WC shaking out?

hey, how bout the dipshit pussy who filed a POLICE REPORT after getting trucked by Bobby Wagner in the Niners game? This fuckface runs around on the field illegally and Wagner pops him. What’s wrong with that? Lawyer people? He could have had a bomb, a poisonous spray, anything. You’re not allowed to defend yourself against a lunatic running towards you illegally like that? God I want to punch that fucker in the face so bad.

    • Locojuan said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:09 am

Besides the fact that the dude was trespassing, he also had a lit flare/devise that IMO gives the players the right to defend themselves.

    • Giant Head said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:23 am

Bet that idiot won’t run on a football field ever again…

  2. willedav said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:14 am

Took cursory look at Mets, and they finished 18-13 btw September and October. I think Braves won it more than NY lost it, and they did knock off deGrom and Scherzer in ATL, with bombs.

Flav, do you believe the “getting hot at end of season” thing carries over into playoffs? Or is each match up different?

  3. willedav said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:18 am

Elephant in room in Bay Area right now isn’t Smiling Jimmy or lip reading, it’s Draymond vs. Poole for heavyweight trash talking title.

    • Giant Head said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:33 am

Wow had not known of the story until seeing your post. Dray was riding him hard last year and you could see Poole growing tired of it during the season. Now he is a champion along with Dray and the core, not likely willing to take his shit any longer. I have said since we started out run Dray is my favorite player, but I would not give him the max contract extensions with Wiggins and Poole both needing to be retained at all cost. I would even let Dray walk if he can’t accept a more reasonable extension. This blow up may convince mgmt that they are ready to let him move on. Extending him is the most important decision because Klay might give us just a couple more good years remaining on his contract and then Poole may be the team’s leading scorer.

After Steffi Graf all bets are off…

  5. Locojuan said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:31 am

My Wild Card AL picks are opposite of Flav’s but my NL picks are the same.
ALDS – Cleveland over the Yanks and Houston over Toronto.
    ALCS – Houston
    NLDS – Atlanta and LA
    NLCS – Atlanta
As far as the WS goes, I’m rooting for Johnnie B to win the whole thing, Go Stros.

  6. Giant Head said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:34 am

    Extending Poole to be clear.

  7. Flavor said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:43 am

WD– I don’t know how much I buy into momentum going into post season. The A’s have had momentum many times and get bounced every time immediately. And of the 3 times we won it all I don’t recall us being especially *hot* going in. One thing I definitely buy into is that teams that go into gear down mode early cause they wrapped up their division weeks ago tend to be flat once the real shit starts…..
Regarding Dray/Poole dust up: I think it’s nothing. This is who Draymond is–he’s probably a dick to be around but he’s won 4 championships so you put up with him. They probably wouldn’t be discussing a reprimand if this hadn’t gotten out to the press.

    • willedav said, on October 6, 2022 at 8:06 am

      mm thanks.
Both Poole and Green went to rival schools, Michigan and Michigan State so I’m sure there is extra edge to talk. Doesn’t sound like Gilbert Arenas (or John Brisker) level stuff.

      • djloo27 said, on October 6, 2022 at 8:17 am

        Brisker was a stud!

  8. Flavor said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:48 am

i still can’t get over this FOOL who ran around on the field and now is filing a police report. I need to follow this story and I HAVE to hear that this got dismissed. I can’t walk the earth with the rest of these idiots and know that a guy like that can do what he did and then file a police report where Wagner is in the wrong

  9. willedav said, on October 6, 2022 at 8:24 am

Doubt Pads do much in post season, having to face 100 win Mets on road first, and even if they won they’d get 100+ win Dogs next. Don’t think off hand Melvin has had much post season success in past.
But, they do have 3 tough SPs, and are one of most efficient fielding teams in NL as well.
They drew 2.9 mil to Petco, 5th in MLB.

  10. unca_chuck said, on October 6, 2022 at 8:30 am

The thing about Dray is he’s not what he was. He was on the bench for the last 5 minutes of game 5 in the finals. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of his skills. Yes, he brings a lot, but so does Wiggins, a guy with a much better offensive game. Throw in the constant harassing of officials, the technicals. and the general whining and he is becoming a distraction more than anything else.

Poole of course is the future. He gets his deal. Dray and the team have said they won’t work on a deal this season (2 years left on the current deal), so they’ll just play this out and see where they are next offseason. If he’s healthy and solid, it’ll force the team to make their decision.

I just don’t see him getting a max deal at 33 seeing how he’s had back problems and other health issues. With Wiggins and Kuminga behind him, I don’t see the Warriors pulling the trigger.

    • Flavor said, on October 6, 2022 at 8:52 am

      Totally agree

      • Giant Head said, on October 6, 2022 at 9:18 am

Totally agree as well. Dray does have a player option for next season and I would not be shocked to see him huff and puff and walk because he feels “disrespected.” Besides Poole, I have said since watching summer league in ‘21 that Moody is a player and he is going to be a big part of their future.

    • Giant Head said, on October 6, 2022 at 9:25 am

I also would not be shocked to see Draymond end up somewhere like Brooklyn and then after Klay finishes out his contract he ends up there and again I am going out on a crazy out of the box prediction if that both happens with Dray and Klay that Curry joins the old crew for another last run with the boys. Curry and Durant both have contracts through 25/26. The four of them could play together for two seasons as a last hurrah. Would take Ben Simmons coming to the Dubs to make the money work but I have been hoping to try and land him to be the post Dray run the show floor leader.

      • Giant Head said, on October 6, 2022 at 9:28 am

In my crazy scenario come 24/25 season, could have a starting lineup of Ben Simmons-Poole-Wiggins-Kuminga-Wiseman…Dubs Gen 2.0…

      • unca_chuck said, on October 6, 2022 at 2:04 pm

        Simmons? No fucking way.

  11. unca_chuck said, on October 6, 2022 at 8:33 am

And, apropos of nothing, it pretty much sucks for the fans if your team gets into the playoffs as a wildcard and you don’t get a home game to watch your team. 3 fucking roadies? Lame.

  12. Giant Head said, on October 6, 2022 at 9:13 am

I am once again in back to back years rooting for Dusty to finally get the big one. I’ll go Astros vs Padres in a huge NL upset. So I am calling for the Pads upset of the Mets and Cards will cruise past Philly. I’ll go Cleveland with home field over the Rays and I will root for Seattle over Toronto.

  13. Flavor said, on October 6, 2022 at 9:54 am

this is outrageous on both sides.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 6, 2022 at 2:11 pm

This is too stupid to be real, dontcha think?

The original guy to report this, Chris Haynes, is s shit disturbing twit.

  14. Winder said, on October 6, 2022 at 10:28 am

I hope St. Louis takes it.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 6, 2022 at 12:46 pm

Actually, I think they have the best chance to keep the Dodgers off balanced with their pitching staff that throws a lot of junk. The Bums are a fastball hitting team. Coupled with the aforementioned, you have 2 guys that have been there before (Molina and Pujols) and have performed well. St Louis in the NL and I think the Astros whip the Yankees in the AL (too much pressure on Cole to do well and “carry” the team).

St Louis to win it all, but I wouldn’t mind Dusty getting a ring either.

    • willedav said, on October 6, 2022 at 12:57 pm

Solid team, score runs and pitch well. 2 stud hitters Golds and Arenado had 150 XBHs btw them–40 doubles 30 bombs each, despite home field favoring pitchers. Closer Helsley is lights out too. Only caveat is Cards were lot better at home than on road, and would be road team after first round as 3rd seed vs. LA or ATL.
Giants lost season series to them 4-3, split 4 games here early May/lost 2 of 3 week later. in home series they beat Doval once, back there STL gave Rodon his worst outing scoring 8 runs off him early.
Not so fun fact: Yaz in early May home games was batting .273 at time.

Ha, story on ESPN said Mahomes got State Farm to do commercial with Coach Andy Reid, who was little hesitant but Mahomes said he nailed part. Haven’t seen that one yet but sketch sounds pretty funny.

    • djloo27 said, on October 6, 2022 at 1:23 pm

      It’s beyond stupid, WillieD…

      • willedav said, on October 6, 2022 at 3:09 pm

mm OK. Most all of them are, right? The “new Chris Paul” ones were really weird. The one where his “kid” with cool ‘do dunked off trampoline and held onto the rim was good. Probably got some not so cool imitations.

  16. unca_chuck said, on October 6, 2022 at 2:13 pm

Saw it, no recollection other than WTF is the walrus doing in this ad?

  17. unca_chuck said, on October 6, 2022 at 2:22 pm

St. Looie takes Philly – St Looie takes Atl
Mets beat Pads – Mets take Dogs – Mets take Atlanta
Rays over Indigards – Rays take Yanks
Mariners over BJs – Houston take Mariners – Houston takes Yanks
Houston and Mets – Mets win!

Wouldn’t mind seeing Dusty get his as a manager. Great guy, and a true baseball lifer.

I don’t understand Flavor’s Twitter birthday riddle up top.
    What does it tell you?

    • zumiee said, on October 6, 2022 at 3:04 pm

It tells us he still loves us more than Twitter.

  19. zumiee said, on October 6, 2022 at 5:06 pm

My favorite TV commercial right now is the one where the parents are telling their son and the woman he’s with that “they need protection.” As the woman gets a shocked expression on her face, the son says: “Mom! Dad! We’ve been married for years.” And the woman says, like she’s just remembering: “Oh yeah….” Makes me laugh every time.
I can’t even remember what the commercial is about. It’s about insurance or some other financial thing.

  20. zumiee said, on October 6, 2022 at 5:28 pm

There are many reports that the Giants are going to make a massive offer to Judge. But….where are the reporters getting that? Who could possibly be feeding them that? I guess Judge’s agent is a suspect, just to try to drive the Yankees’ price up, but some of the reporters are surely sharper than that, and must have a source within the Giants’ organization. But why would the Giants be putting that out there? Just to give the Giants fans a little false hope for a month? Why would that be in the Giants’ interest?

    • zumiee said, on October 6, 2022 at 5:29 pm

At this point, all the false hope on these big free agents is a tired act. We’ve seen that for years now.

      • Winder said, on October 6, 2022 at 6:38 pm

Yeah, that 62nd dinger pretty much put the icing on the cake. He’s gonna be a Yankee for life. We wouldn’t shell out that kind of money anyway. His dumpster is made out of solid gold.

  21. mrsprtdude said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:03 pm

    Cards and Mets win
AL. No thoughts. But if I had to guess? TB and Blue Jays!

  22. mrsprtdude said, on October 6, 2022 at 7:05 pm

If I had to pick for SF I’d want Rodon and Turner! The extra $100 Mil it will take to get Judge could be spent on bullpen

    • unca_chuck said, on October 6, 2022 at 8:03 pm

That works for me. Get Nimmo for the OF and we are getting better.

  23. unca_chuck said, on October 6, 2022 at 8:01 pm

Yeah, I’d love to see Dusty get some managerial validation. He’s always been such a strong ambassador for the game, and he seems like a cool low-key guy.
