A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Back In….First Place!

Easy win against an inept offense. Or maybe that’s just how our D made them look? Credit to Jimmy who was fine, he avoided the tragically stupid 3 plays a game he usually makes that we have to overcome to win.

No baseball today? What the hell?

mm no baseball today but compressed schedule for next round will impact pitching staffs.
NYC sports talk must be blowing up-Jets and Giants are winning and Mets are done.

      Nice to see Salah succeeding.

      • djloo27 said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:24 am

They were running him out of town about 2 weeks ago.
I can understand why players and coaches mostly hate the fans…

      • Winder said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:37 am

I thought when Saleh took the Jets job that he was going to a very difficult situation. And when they took Wilson I thought it would make it worse. But, I am glad to see that things might work out for him. I actually root for the Jets now

I don’t think Buck is getting enough of the blame.
Even after blowing most of a 10.5 game lead they had every chance to wrap up the division against the dregs of the league in September and couldn’t do it.
And many of his lineup and pitching choices were highly questionable…

  3. djloo27 said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:27 am

Fuck the Mets and Scherzer who in crunch time came up about as big as Ted Kennedy at Chappaquiddick…

    • willedav said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:40 am

Couldn’t help Dogs last year either as Roberts pitching staff blew up on him after they beat SF.
Pads fans wondering where this version of Grisham was all year. Funny how often that happens, guys at bottom of lineup wind up being difference makers.

      • djloo27 said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:46 am

So true. Gillaspie gave me my greatest in person baseball memory ever.
Not Mays, McCovey, Bonds………Conor fuckin Gillaspie!
Ask old Yankee fans about Brian Doyle and of course Bucky Dent…

Oh Game face bomb was tremendous. I could watch that video all day. So cool you were there.

DeMeco Ryans is showing himself to be an outstanding defensive coordinator in his own right. He learned his early lessons regarding being aggressive late in games. He was dropping the LBs into soft coverage in the Denver and Chicago games instead of closer to the line, and both Fields and Wilson took advantage of that with late scrambles that won those games for them.

  5. willedav said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:43 am

Rams now 2-3 and Stafford got smoked again.
What is worst record for a team following SB win?

    • djloo27 said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:50 am

Not sure but Mac can tell you all about the Ray Handley Giants the year after Parcells walked following the “wide right” Super Bowl win…

    • Macdog said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:05 am

Loo, Giants 8-8 in first Handley year. Worst record for post-SB winner in a full season is the Broncos, 6-10 (.375) in ’99 after two straight titles. Worst post-SB record for any season is . . . the 49ers! 3-6 (.333) in strike-shortened ’82 after their first title. Next-worst is Giants, 6-9 (.400) in ’87 that included 0-3 in scab games, one of which was against the Niners.

      • djloo27 said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:41 am

        Great job, Mac!

      • unca_chuck said, on October 10, 2022 at 2:32 pm

The Niners missed the playoffs on the last game when Ivory fucking Sully blocked a fat Ray FG with time running out.

We may have had a shitty record, but that was when the scab games played by replacement players counted. Montana (and 10 others iirc) crossed the picket line after 3 games. I think.

  6. Macdog said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:49 am

Panthers fired head coach Rhule. Pretty sure he turned down Giants job that went to Judge for Carolina, now he’s out, haha.

    • Winder said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:42 am

I think going for it on 4th and 10 was the last straw. The game was already out of reach when he did it and when we scored on the next play just looked real bad. He was already on the wire even before that.

      • Macdog said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:54 am

I saw when Panthers kicked a FG down 30-12 mid-4th quarter the fans were letting him have it, that probably didn’t help either.

  7. Flavor said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:27 am

Buck Sho is just a bitch. I don’t get why he always has a job. This fucking guy makes a baseless claim against Musgrove and the umpire literally starts molesting him–that right there shouldn’t be allowed. Then after the game Buck doubles down on it accusing Musgrove again! Motherfucker they didn’t find anything. Suck it up and admit that was nothing more than a cheap stunt to try to rattle a pitcher who was shutting down your rattled hitters..

    • djloo27 said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:43 am

And why wait till you’re down 4-0 in the 6th inning to check on the suspicious shiny ears?

    • Macdog said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:57 am

That really was a bush-league move. Such desperation, I don’t think Showalter did anything close to that during the season.

  8. alleykat69 said, on October 10, 2022 at 10:19 am

1st coach off the chopping block…Panthers fire head coach Matt Rhule no surprise at all. 11-27 (289 winning pct) 1-27 when opponents scored 17 pts are more, this team just couldn’t score points rather it was Newton,Bridgewater,Darnold, are Mayfield they all proved useless. Rhule loss the locker room as well although every player should look at themselves and say I suck as well..

  9. Locojuan said, on October 10, 2022 at 10:43 am

I wonder who the Giants will get for the GM position. I assume they’ll want to get that done first before addressing the players needed. Under Farhan, the position seems more like an assistant with just the title of GM, but still… I’m guessing they try for someone out of Tampa, maybe Carlos Rodriguez.

  10. alleykat69 said, on October 10, 2022 at 12:12 pm

Heard of 5 potential GM candidates Loco clown
    1) Billy Owens
    2)Randy Flores
    3)Jeremy Shelly
    (4)Amiel Sawdaye
    (5) JP Ricciardi

Off this list I like Owens are Sawdaye
maybe your guy Carlos Rodriguez gets a look as well..

    • Locojuan said, on October 10, 2022 at 1:26 pm

Thanks Kat, I hadn’t heard any rumblings on it. Checking out JP Ricciardi I see he is already on the payroll as a senior advisor to Zaidi, so I guess he would be an easy in-house pick.
Rodriguez would be a long shot and I don’t know if Tampa would let him go, but he does look like he would be a Zaidi type of guy.

    Next GM:

    • willedav said, on October 10, 2022 at 2:36 pm

      lulz.
Baggs did Q and A with Kap end of season. Mentioned fanbase not thrilled with lack of everyday players and all the platooning. Kap got little defensive and wondered how they liked 2021, when it all worked so well. then he said, “I love having 4 LH PHs in 9th.”
well…unfortunately most of LH sucked. Wade and Belt never got going at all, nor did Crawford. Yaz had one good month (May .321 with pop) and 3 really bad ones (none above .200 and one was .119), Pederson had that long HR drought, and Gonzalez bat took a dive plus he was bad on bases and in OF.
Interesting to see how many of above Z brings back and who he can add.

    • Winder said, on October 10, 2022 at 3:02 pm

Great picture and true to the Giants way.

Willedav – I am not sold on Kap. But he sure does make a lot of excuses for his bad decisions. What he basically said was the players in 2021 played good and this year they didn’t. But at least he had 4 LH ph’s

      • willedav said, on October 10, 2022 at 3:40 pm

In that last AZ series something funny happened. In one game Kap did his fav rocks off move, u subbing in guys late game defensively and moving everyone around diamond. Then next game AZ mgr. Lovullo did it. So, imitation supposed to be sincerest form of flattery, no?

      • Winder said, on October 10, 2022 at 4:16 pm

IDK but my guess is he to show what comes around goes around.

    • Locojuan said, on October 10, 2022 at 3:22 pm

Perfect photo, Loo. Ya nailed it.

  12. Flavor said, on October 10, 2022 at 4:40 pm

Loo and diggity’s chiefs tonight. I’m rooting for a high scoring game

  13. unca_chuck said, on October 10, 2022 at 6:33 pm

I loved the Otis Taylor, Hank Stram, Lenny Dawson Chiefs.

Fuck ’em now. Koo koo ka choo

  14. Flavor said, on October 10, 2022 at 6:41 pm

that was just an outrageous call. The DLman uses his left arm to brace to the ground and with his other arm he’s strip sacked the QB! That was a fantastic play and to call that a penalty is just the worst thing I’ve seen today.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 10, 2022 at 6:54 pm

Yep, The one on Brady yesterday was even more hideous as it directly affected the outcome of that game. Meanwhile Lamar Jackson was rocked a couple times, one helmet to helmet, that weren’t called. It’s getting to the point where the QB will be 2-hand touch. Or you simply hug him and that’s it like Maxx Crosby did to Mahomes earlier.

  15. willedav said, on October 10, 2022 at 6:48 pm

don’t see how that can be a penalty. jones had ball when he fell on him.

  16. unca_chuck said, on October 10, 2022 at 6:50 pm

Sccording to MLB rumors, the Giants are gonna decline the option to keep Shorto.

Huzzah. I think. They may say, hey, wanna play for $1.5 mill today?

  17. Macdog said, on October 10, 2022 at 7:13 pm

    • Locojuan said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:09 pm

      Well, that answers that.

  18. unca_chuck said, on October 10, 2022 at 7:13 pm

These calls in this game are ridiculous.

  19. willedav said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:06 pm

Can’t see why either team made good decision to go for 2.
Chiefs would have been up by 8 with kick, thereby forcing LV to go for 2 after TD.
Raiders could have tied it up with kick and maybe wound up in OT. Now they have to get ball back or they lose.

  20. unca_chuck said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:27 pm

Nope. The Raiders were stupid to go for 2. They could be in OT now but no. And the two WRs take each other out on the last play. They truly can’t get out of their own way.

  21. unca_chuck said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:28 pm

And defensive holding ona FG? Unreal dumb.

  22. djloo27 said, on October 10, 2022 at 8:50 pm

Whichever team won tonight I would’ve said was lucky.
I think KC went for 2 out of distrust for erratic PK…

  23. unca_chuck said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:00 pm

    Guy kicked a 60 yarder didn’t he?

    • djloo27 said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:23 pm

Yeah, 59, but he also missed from 40 and barely banked in an XP…

  24. unca_chuck said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:04 pm

Stop the presses. The Giants are ‘reportedly’ looking to trade LaStella.

They are gonna have to eat $9 million of his $11.5 mill salary to do that.

We can trade his for a mascot to be named later. Hey, where Youppi?

    Youppi, 30 août 2000

  25. mrsprtdude said, on October 10, 2022 at 9:31 pm

Raiders throwing for 15 and 30 yards when they needed one yard and Jacobs was getting 5+ yards on every carry. Run. Spike Then Adams. Win. Lost my fantasy game because my opponent had kelse. He is like Kupp. Maybe we should cover the other QB’s favorite target or is that just me???

    • unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 11:29 am

Kelce was doubled and even tripled at times. Didn’t do shit. The problem was KC stopped Oakland’s pass rush in the 2nd half. Give Kelce time, and he can out run double coverage all day.

Hey, it worked on 4th and 1 early. There is something to be said about being ballsy. But going to the well too often leads to failure. Shit, Walrus does it all the time.
