I went 3-1 missing the Cards vas Phillies. I’m going Pads all the way against the Stros and will picks Braves and Yankmes for the other two…

Meanwhile, J Poole got 25 with 6 assists in preseason opener, scoring from inside outside and midrange, starting while Thompson didn’t play. So question is, how long will GS hold Green out? League opener at home, with ring ceremony, will be one week from tonight. Can’t imagine his reception from fans would be too good.
Would they go beyond that? He does have to be in shape and in sync to start and play usual 30 minutes. Even Looney said things are awkward right now.

He deserves the cold shoulder from fans and his teammates…

easiest way to fix the roughing passer problem is to just make it reviewable.

  4. unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 8:59 am

Far as I heard there will be no suspension.

At this point in the NFL, everything should be reviewable. It would suck, but there are so many awful game-altering calls on any given game. I mean, KC overcame that awful call on Carr, but the Falcons lost on that roughing call as they would have gotten the ball back and had plenty of time.

I remember a few years back, not sure who was coaching, but the 49ers lost 3 games in a row on terrible calls. All near the end of the games that we were leading, would have forced punts, but didn’t. That turned our season from 10-6 to 7-9. Unreal. Throw in all the betting money and you really have a giant question about integrity.

Remember one season a few years they used replay for pass interference, but the refs and replay officials made a total mockery of it and didn’t even pretend to hide their disdain for it, so it got scrapped.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 9:31 am

Yep. Rams/Saints game a few years back was ludicrous. Saints WR got steamrolled 2 seconds before the ball got there and no call. I think that got the competition committee to install the replay review. It didn’t go so well as the refs simply stayed with the call on the field and didn’t change anything.

The biggest problem is illegal use of hands. You can pretty much call that on every pass play. There was one called last week, Bus/Falcons, on 3rd and 14 the WR runs directly into the safety, and they call it on the safety. 5 yard penalty, automatic 1st down. Some of these penalties need to have the auto-1st-down aspect changed. It’s just too fucking easy to get calls like that.

Another thing that has gone away is the ‘uncatchable pass’ aspect. Used to be if the WR had no chance to catch the ball, it wasn’t a penalty. That has gone away. As we saw yesterday, if you underthrow a deep pass 9 out of 10 times the DB isn’t looking for the bal and the WR gets the call for a nice 35 yard penalty. The 49ers had about 10 of those calls last season.

      • Flavor said, on October 11, 2022 at 9:37 am

honestly, it’s starting to seem like QB’s are underthrowing the ball on purpose just to get the call.

      • djloo27 said, on October 11, 2022 at 10:01 am

I was wondering what happened to the uncatchable pass thing last night…

      • unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 12:17 pm

Yep. Galling last year was the fucking Colts game where Wentz threw 4 dogshit passes the DBs overplayed and they got 3 deep PI calls in their first 4 series.

    previously:

St. Looie takes Philly – St Looie takes Atl
Mets beat Pads – Mets take Dogs – Mets take Atlanta
Rays over Indigards – Rays take Yanks
Mariners over BJs – Houston take Mariners – Houston takes Yanks
Houston and Mets – Mets win!

Wow. I suck. 1-3 as well.

    Braves over Phillies
    Yankers over Guardicles
    Astros over Mariners
The Pads finally figure out the flea-bitten Dogs

Why the fuck not? Is Tatis gonna play? Stupid fuck.

  8. unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 11:42 am

Shit didn’t even realize the Phillies Braves were already playing. Phuucking Phillies are pumping hits out like Motown records.

  9. Macdog said, on October 11, 2022 at 11:45 am

Castellanos is killing the Braves, 6-1 Philly.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 11:58 am

3 hits, 3 ribbies. didn’t have a great year, but they are loving him now.

  10. zumiee said, on October 11, 2022 at 12:13 pm

It’s hard to have much faith that the Padres will put up any kind of resistance to the Dodgers. We’ve watched the Dodgers steamroll the Padres our whole lives. Someone from the Padres needs to rise up and have some kind of crazy unbelievable series, like Scutaro in ’12, or Bum in ’14, or Ross in ’10. Someone needs to seize the moment for the Padres.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 12:18 pm

      It has to start sometime.

    • Macdog said, on October 11, 2022 at 12:28 pm

Pads 16-35 vs. the Dogpile the last three seasons, including 3-game sweep in ’20 playoffs. They were 5-14 this season, outscored 109-47, every bit as overmatched as the Giants were. So yeah, I don’t have a lot of confident in the Friars, which is why I was rooting for the Mets. But here they are, so Let’s Go San Diego!

  11. alleykat69 said, on October 11, 2022 at 12:28 pm

Only way the Pads hang in against The Dogpile while they’re Under Seize is Casey Ryback the cook(Steven Segal) kicks all Dodgers asses in clubhouse pregame..

  12. alleykat69 said, on October 11, 2022 at 1:33 pm

Good for the Mariners they have jumped on Verlander for 4 runs on 6 hits 4-0 Seattle

  13. Macdog said, on October 11, 2022 at 2:03 pm

Phillies hang on after Olson 3-run bomb in 9th, helped by Castellanos great catch for 2nd out.

  14. unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 2:20 pm

    Wow. Missed it.

  15. mrsprtdude said, on October 11, 2022 at 2:43 pm

Atlanta ( even though I see i just spotted the Phils game one!), Cleveland, Houston, LA

  16. Giant Head said, on October 11, 2022 at 4:19 pm

Dusty Magic. What a shot!!! Really hope he wins this…

  17. Flavor said, on October 11, 2022 at 4:20 pm

what a moment. I heard Alvarez somehow got his whole family in town too. Love this for Dusty.

    • willedav said, on October 11, 2022 at 4:22 pm

Beast. Be thankful Dogs traded him away years ago.

      • unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 5:06 pm

The fucking Dodgers have traded away twice the talent we have.

  18. alleykat69 said, on October 11, 2022 at 4:24 pm

Wow unbelievable Yordan Alvarez is a BEAST!
3Run Bomb walkoff with 2 outs down 7-5 off a lefty as well Robbie Ray the greatest moment for a hitter right there! I don’t know if Mariners will be able to recover from this loss, just one game but what stab thru the heart.,

  19. unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 4:37 pm

Wow. Got busy at work and missed both happy endings. Damn.

  20. willedav said, on October 11, 2022 at 6:13 pm

Alvarez was signed as amateur FA from Cuba by Dogs just before he turned 19, in June of 2016.
6 weeks later he was traded by LA to Houston for reliever Josh Fields.
Ironically, Fields pitched against Stros in 2017 WS in one outing…where he faced 3 batters, all of whom got hits and 2 scored. Last pitched in ML end of 2018 for LA. Since then he’s been released by 2 other teams beside them.

  21. unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 6:16 pm

What a dumbshit. Donaldson shoulda been at 2nd standing up.

  22. djloo27 said, on October 11, 2022 at 6:28 pm

Kimbrel left off Bums LDS roster…

  23. Giant Head said, on October 11, 2022 at 6:38 pm

My hunch is this has got to be something Mariners have a hard time recovering from. Likely will be down 2-0 going back to Seattle on fumes.

  24. Macdog said, on October 11, 2022 at 7:37 pm

Yqnks win. Dogpile winning. This night sucks.

  25. unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 7:43 pm

Clevenger looks like a guy you’d score shrooms from in the parking lot of a Ted Nugent concert.

  26. unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 8:18 pm

First 2 games were great. These last 2 suck. Done-zo

  27. zumiee said, on October 11, 2022 at 8:20 pm

“I’m surprised at what’s happening in the Dodger/Padre game,” said literally no one on planet Earth.

    • willedav said, on October 11, 2022 at 9:41 pm

They knocked Urias out in 5th and put 3 runs on board to close gap to 5-3. We can only hope, Zum.
Because of WC, Pads had to go with #4 Clevinger, who sucked.
      Darvish tomorrow.

  28. unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 8:35 pm

Come on Pads! Getting a little interesting

  29. unca_chuck said, on October 11, 2022 at 10:04 pm

    Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.

  30. willedav said, on October 12, 2022 at 7:08 am
