Roberts used different pen guys in Game 2, and they were ones on the hook for L, while Melvin’s guys held Dogs off. Didn’t realize that Suarez came out of Japan league (a rookie per B/R at age 31) and hadn’t pitched MLB before this year when Preller signed him.
Could be deciding factor, which manager has better luck with pen going forward. Dogs seem to have more depth, but didn’t help last night.

They drew well this year (Top 5 in MLB) and it was pretty wild down there this year for a mid week game against the Marlins. But for 2 playoff games—against the Dodgers on Friday and Saturday night? And now that they have landed a punch and turned this into a legit series???
I might have to get down there at some point just to check out the atmosphere.

For a supposedly strong Dogpile BP it was the Padres BP that shined last night, especially the work by Suarez getting out of a 1st&3 rd no outs with a killer dogpile DP which was awesome 👏..
Think the last time the Padres even won a playoff off game was with Bochy in 96? when they went to the W/S and lost.. BTW Fuck LA !!!
Good to see the Pads hold on. Game Three will be great. And Loo it is I that had first suggested the pursuit of Josh Bell. I think the Giants need an anchor at first base post Belt and we have nothing resembling that in our farm system. The colder numbers in SD may actually help to keep his price down.

Yeah Opie Will always have my respect as the only Dodger I could appreciate especially when his idol was Will Clark and insisted on wearing #22.
HOF Jim Palmer rocked #22 for 19 years and was a bigtime playoff and W/S gamer imo.
On the other spectrum sadly is Bill Buckner #22 who was a great hitter but will always be remembered for his gaffe against Mookie Wilson thru the 5 hole..
Nothing but respect for Op. He’s 34 and can still get ML hitters out. ERA was 2.28 over 22 starts, FIP was 2.57, walks less than a batter a game and K’s almost 10, with fastball that tops out at what 92 maybe. Batters hit .206 off him in 126 innings worth and had lowest HR rate since 2016, in launch angle era no less.
Exactly, and has overinflated sense of his own worth. He’s a Boras guy after a long term megabucks deal, likely with opt outs he negotiated with Twins so he could move on if unsatisfied where he’s at. I don’t think front end of deal for him will hold up after couple years at non hitters park like the O. Seems like type of player whose contract Giants were trying to get out of.
I am hoping the Pads can knock out the Dogs like most here. I can’t get myself to really feel it though. To me it’s like a Rams/ Cowboys game I hate them both and have for a long time but I still hate the Cowboys more.
To be competitive next year Z is gonna have to spend. I don’t think he’s gonna go all out. I know our offensive production was pretty much crap but I still hope if he’s spends the big money he goes after pitching.

New GM Pauita,Paletó Planco whatever, does have Astros ties along with a connection supposedly with Correa if that means anything?That would be a good initial start with the fans if he can help mail down a superstar..
