Missing That Jolt
Watching the Padre game last night is one of the reasons the blog is shutting down. Man, I miss that energy. It’s tough to watch other fans enjoy that and we are still just wandering in the wilderness. Yeah, yeah, we got 3 and *if I died tomorrow, etc…* It still doesn’t change the fact that with each passing year we get farther and farther away from that feeling we had so many years ago.
Losing Game 5 last year against the Flodgers put a bit of a bitter taste in that passion of yesteryear and the three World Series titles. Getting four nba championships along the way also probably lessens the emotionalism from the first WS win against the Rangers. San Diego fans have never won anything let alone Padre fans. We will never regain that passion we saw last night.
And hopefully they close them out tonight. Huge huge starting pitching advantage for the Padres. I regret not putting more money down not only on Astros-Padres matchup, I should have put up much more on the Padres winning. I don’t think it is beyond belief to see the Padres to pull it off. Surprised by the Phillies this whole post-season and let’s see how the Yankees respond.
GH is right, end of last year season really hurt. I went back and looked at box scores from games SF lost, all 3 of them. Leone got pounded in relief of Gausman who left with 2 on in game 2, DeSclafani got lip up again by LA game 4, Doval gave up run in tie game top 9th game 5, Flores got burned on check swing.
Giants hit .182 all series, struck out 49 times and scored 10 runs. Hope Dogs get that same awful feeling asap.
Lest we forget, Giants had 2-1 lead after 1-0 W in LA. Longoria homered for only run off Scherzer who K’d 10 in 5 innings (Giants struck out 14 times that night), and combo of Wood Rogers McGee and Doval shut Dogs out, the last 2 with 2 2//3 hitless innings.
Yeah after being up 2-1, the end was rough. Go Pads.
It’s a little weird when you apply some of today’s stuff to the past.
There almost would be no past.
Poor Ralph Kramden was constantly “body shamed” by his wife Alice and best buddy Ed Norton. Even Seinfeld must look unfathomable to people who grew up with all the technology and social media…
Hilarious program, Honeymooners. Phone exchange was Bensonhurst, right?
Ralph is telling Ed about doing things like he and Alice used to do, “I’m gonna learn all the new expressions, like…” Norton responds, “How can anyone so round be so square.”
Now I hope the Phillies take it all.
whoa inside park HR for Realmuto, Phils up 4-1.
Last Giants one by Pagan? Remember any others they’ve hit?
Reminded me of game I went to in 2000, Giants-Phils at the Vet, Bobby Abreu hit a walk-off inside-the-park HR in bottom 10th. As much of a bummer it was to lose, it was a pretty damn exciting play to end a game.
Believe it are not Aubrey Huff hit one!
Lazy ass Acuna never made a move to backup the Center fielder on Realmuto off the wall caromed away play! Jesus that’s basic little league rule ,always back up a play!
Chron picked up story I just read about on MLBTR: Rangers new GM Chris Young, who pitched for Padres in 2006, interested in hiring his old manager, Bochy.
MLBTR had an outlook for 2023 column the other day for Rangers, who spent shit ton of $$ on FAs Semien and Corey Seager and lost 94 games this season.
San dawg at game tonight!
That’s awesome! San Dawg will bring home clinching win with Musgrove going ! Only thing Roberts can do is check his ear wax to no avail as the electric Padres fan base gives him a earful..The Dogpile is going down again!!
Julio Rodriguez just made a hell of allay and may have saved them a potential series loss here in the 16th inning.
Hell of a catch
Great close out for the Stros. Two more series Dusty…
WTG Stros, out lasted dem for 18 innings. Go Dustiny.
Dubon with the game clinching catch lol
Great insight from the announcer with runners at the corners, no outs:
“Feels like this is the Padres chance right now”
Exit velo, lol.
Soto ties it up! Pitching coach to mound. Gotta love it.
Flodger collapse beautiful thing to watch. Keep it up Pads.
Roberts continues to be an idiot manager. You put Soto on with a walk you don’t pitch to him, take your chances with Machado with the right right matchup and go for the force at home..
San Diego showing some heart. Soto finally comes through . . . Machado could have been the hero. Up to Cronenworth.
Dogpile would still be up 3-2 if Roberts walked Soto. Pitcher K’d Machado, gets Drury on a pop out to Freeman (btw nice catch) let’s see if Croneworth can still make them pay..
Worthy!
Oh hell yeah Croneworth makes them pay with a huge 2 runhit!! All on Roberts for not walking Soto initially that’s why Roberts stinks which is great 👍
Turned the game on just in time!!!
Great insight from the announcer:
“If the Padres go to the NLCS, this was the inning they’ll remember”
Shades of Scutaro.
Wow wtf it’s dumping rain? Where’s Marco Scurato when you need him?
Dodgers not bothering to hold Soto at 1st cost them that 2nd run. Very odd there.
Best thing about the rain is that most people have put away their fuckin phones…
hah!
Bye Bye Bums!
Time for a pop-up.
F those good damned Flodgers!!!!
Holy shit Harder finishes them off and Dogs are done.
God spoke. He held off the rain for the entire half hour bottom of the 7th and then opened up the skies on the F’n Flodgers in the top of the 8th. Kharma Destiny Providence…
Have you heard the news? The dogs are dead!
Nothing finer then another Dodgers collapse! It’s time to fire Roberts!
Pfffttt! Go shine your worthless Pandemic season WS trophy Bums . . .
Hader found his shit just in time for the playoffs.
Way to bring home a close out winner of the Dogpile SanDawg!
Think it’s Harvey& the Goose that were the combo that got the job done!!
