I know this year sucked and it was utterly forgettable. But seeing the Dodgers go down in flames (again) is so satisfying. My biggest fear about shutting down the blog was that it was going to be right after an LA World Series win. What a stupid unnecessary thing to worry about. LMAO, LA closing out the deal in the post season. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Roberts pen couldn’t get out bottom order guys like Grisham Kim and Nola, and then Soto and Cronenworth finished them off. Boone left Peralta in to start 9th after he’d got last out of 7th and all 3 in 8th. Both teams won without HRs, putting ball in play and neither given much chance to advance by oddsmakers etc.
Preller has gotten lot of well deserved heat over years, but boy how do you like me now?
Padres started the playoffs without a home game in the 1st round. Now they’ll have home advantage in the NLCS.

Man, how fun was it to watch SD and (to a lesser extent) Cleveland celebrate their walk offs last night? Baseball is the best.

Anything to argument (from disgruntled Dogs fans) that having bye works against top seeds? That sitting around and not playing for 6 days while others are in game situations isn’t good? Did Pads gain momentum they needed vs. Mets, while LA was chilling?
Gotta admit, scrolling through myriad blame casting by LA scribes and fans (Roberts, Friedman, analytics, choking hitters in RISP or wrong mix of relievers yada yada) is hella good read. There are select few who chose to give credit to Padres for outplaying them in short series.
Like my buddy Pete said “I don’t care how many games the dodgers win, as long as they lose the last one.”

Our favorite sports owner, Charles Johnson of the Giants, has given over $200K to a superPac supporting Herschel Walker. You know, the 4-child denier, serial liar, threatened to kill his girlfriend, paid for the abortion of another girlfriend while now supporting forced-birth for teen girls. That Herschel, perhaps the most unfit person ever to run for US Senate in modern history. I thought Charles had promised several times he wouldn’t give money anymore to these fascist creeps, or didn’t know he was actually doing that? I guess that was a lie…
Well, he is a private citizen who can donate his money how he wants. Regardless of how awful it is.
I blame the Dems for pushing their idiotic fringe agenda bullshit of making sure pre -schoolers are taught LGBTQ rights. High school? Sure. But parents being told their children need to be taught these things this early drives people off the Dems. They focus on the minutiae of ridiculous stuff and ignore the big ticket items of social security being gutted, Medicare being gutted and the fact the right wants to destroy our democracy.
Well, I had no faith in the Padres, and they got the job done. It’s one of the most stunning sports outcomes ever.
And now the Dodgers enter an off-season of some uncertainty. Will Roberts be fired? How much turnover will happen to their roster? The Dodgers are getting kind of old. They’re not “Giants in ’22” old yet, but they’re kind of getting there.
I had mixed feelings seeing San Dawg’s photos. They’re great, and are the kind of thing that makes me love the Flap; but then I also feel sad because the Flap is ending. The Flap will be very missed.

It sounds like the Kings’ rookie Keegan Murray has Covid and probably has to miss the start of the season.
