A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Warriors, Come Out To Play!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 18, 2022

Rainout last night in NY. Not sure what weather looks like today. Man, retractable roofs should be on every stadium back east…….

Dubs today! Woo Hoo!!! I heard on the radio today that NEXT year the luxury tax on them would be 450 million–not what they’d pay tax on. That’s the tax! Incredible figure and another testament to Lacob and the way he owns the team. We are so lucky to have Joe Lacob and his group.

I read if Dray opts in for next year the tax would be almost $500 mill…not sure how cost effective putting retractable roofs on places like Fenway or Wrigley or Yankme Stadium would, but they should have built one here in DC. It is so miserably hot during the summer but also you get the torrential downpours that can be fairly constant over summer afternoons.

your weather sounds positively awful. People give Californian’s shit but we don’t worry about the weather, ever

Warriors FO has been pretty sharp during most of their run, bringing in solid vets good assistants (great column in Athletic from Anthony Slater on Kerr’s assistants and plan for younger guys) and drafting well, and they appear loaded as is. I think health of the older players (Thompson Green Looney), with how much younger ones (including Poole now that he has his bag) continue to grow, will be keys. Like baseball, long season.
Not easy to repeat, and East just as loaded as West at top.

I saw that Warriors movie at a Drive-in, which was probably the best way to see it.

i remember watching that movie on KTVU when I was a kid and it scared the shit out of me for some reason (especially that scene)

While rainout helps pitching staffs of Yanks and Guardians, winner tonight has to prepare for Stros on road tomorrow. Interesting to see what MLB does with format next year, but extra games/fewer days off does change how a team is built for playoffs vs. regular season.
See how losers like Dodgers and Mets et al react in off season.

Great great movie, and that is the best scene in that movie. Although the baseball furies were pretty bad ass.

heard on the radio that if the Warriors exercise the Draymond option that’s a 24 mil hit but it’s a 240 mil hit to the cap LOL so I guess we know who isn’t playing for the Dubs next year.

Before moving to L.A., Walter O’Malley had proposed a domed stadium to keep the Dodgers the Brooklyn.

    • Macdog said, on October 18, 2022 at 10:07 am

      in Brooklyn.

Next year is Draymond’s option, not GS. Chron had ton of stories on them today. What I read in one was that for next season salaries (including Green) plus lux tax would equal $500 mil.
Just skimmed over Chron stuff, as frankly Warriors “Dynasty Redux?” over confidence of fanbase bugs me, but I’ll see if I can find that quote on $$.

Not certain this guy is whining or what, particularly the last 2 paragraphs. Also, as AK pointed out, that stupid fuck, Roberts, along with the front office, should be fired for their missteps. I mean – how hard is it to win when you throw a gazillion dollars at the roster each season?

Thoughts? Regardless, fuck them all . . .

      Good article; thanks!
Thompson starting over Bellinger in the last game vs. a righthander was a head-scratcher.

This was on Yahoo day ago. So little credit given to Padres for outplaying them. Cronenworth the lefty lined Vesia slider to CF for 2 run single that put them ahead. And that happened after bottom of order guys like Profar and Nola got on base with seeing eye hits.
Taking Anderson out after 5 solid innings and avoiding third time through the order wasn’t bad decision, just one pen guys Roberts brought in (and he didn’t use Phillips) couldn’t make work.

      • willedav said, on October 18, 2022 at 11:53 am

Except for Clevinger Pads pitching was dang good.

    • Macdog said, on October 18, 2022 at 11:56 am

I read it as a rebuke to the whiners. And enough of the whining. I don’t remember any uproar last year when the 107-win Giants got bounced in the NLCS after a 4-day break, having to play the 106-win Dodgers instead of, oh, maybe the 4th-best team out of the 4 teams left.

      • Macdog said, on October 18, 2022 at 11:58 am

        Should be NLDS, of course.

      • blade3colorado said, on October 18, 2022 at 12:50 pm

Agree Mac . . . Just didn’t like how the writer put a question mark on the Marlins championships versus the Dodgers record.

Not paying for the LA times. Cant read it.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 18, 2022 at 10:52 am

Unc, you must have used up your 1 or 2 articles already. lol . . . I did too initially, but then opened my Edge browser and read it.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 18, 2022 at 12:35 pm

Yeah, I’ve worn out my welcome on about 50 papers.

shoot. Mr. Naylor could be rocking the golf clubs or fishing hat soon.

  12. djloo27 said, on October 18, 2022 at 5:07 pm

Enough with the fuckin rocking baby daddy crap.
    Why is everyone so childish?

    • djloo27 said, on October 18, 2022 at 5:08 pm

      I don’t mean you, Willie.
It’s the postgame moron show that set me off…

  13. unca_chuck said, on October 18, 2022 at 5:34 pm

Yeah, it’s pretty fucking stupid that:

    a) Naylor and the Guardicles were still losing after the home run
    b) they lost the game

See we still have the propaganda ads on Fox. Am I surprised? No. A little surprised they are on Streameast. How about an ad by the Democrats saying “Trump and his Republican cohorts killed millions of Americans with his reckless policies around the COVID pandemic.”

  14. mrsprtdude said, on October 18, 2022 at 6:09 pm

    Go Warriors!!!!
Go Phillys If SD is in WS I won’t care at all, which is a bummer. I don’t like SD, but not enough hate to get to excited rooting against them.

Wheeler is downright Nasty with his Stuff!
Yeah I can still dream of the Giants staff with Wheeler,Rodon,Webb&Harrison raising hell to the Dogpile and Maxi Pads for many years instead of the useless rental gig of Beltran..

That Nuclear Bomb 💣 hit by Schwarber was the farthest ever at Petco Park..Upperdeck 488ft,120 mph bat speed! He not only rocked the baby he rocked it all the way back to Philadelphia..

    • Macdog said, on October 18, 2022 at 7:41 pm

      Goddamn Beltran trade.

  16. unca_chuck said, on October 18, 2022 at 8:00 pm

Cutch/Reynolds was the bigger pisser to me.

  17. willedav said, on October 18, 2022 at 9:28 pm

Warriors got lot of minutes for young guys tonight, and 4th quarter should be lot of garbage time. Too much firepower for Lakers and Curry just hit his first 3 of night midway through third quarter.

    • willedav said, on October 18, 2022 at 9:29 pm

And quickly bombed in another one as they go up by 23.

  18. mrsprtdude said, on October 18, 2022 at 10:10 pm

It will be exciting to watch warriors. If they improve and gel Poole Wiseman Kuminga Moody 2nd unit might beat 1/2 the teams in the league!

    • willedav said, on October 19, 2022 at 6:39 am

yeah that was fun. Lakers did make runs at them and cut lead in half, as Big 3 looked good including Westbrook. Not much else going on there for them. Wasn’t impressed by new guy DDV, but Poole looked more under control, less dumb stuff. Defense will matter in West.
