A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Big Day At Keenland

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on November 5, 2022

This World Series has really lived up to hype for me. If only McCormick rhymed with *Fence but it doesn’t and that’s the only bummer here.

Day 2 of the Breeders Cup, gents. Now this is a day that always lives up to the hype for me.

Is it possible that today is the final day the Flap gets a baseball game thread?

We shall see, we shall see…….

Oh damn never realized it was in Keeneland this year. Not been there in 26-27 years. If I had thought about it would have maybe made an effort to go. Are you there Flav???

    • Flavor said, on November 5, 2022 at 7:08 am

no i went last year (to del mar). I was supposed to go this year but some things came up. So now I have to endure my buddy sending me taunting pics from our seats on the finish line!

BC was great yesterday, with large fields and exciting finishes, especially in last one. All top jockeys (plus Cal guys getting some mounts) and trainers were there and int’l horses as well. TVG had beautiful Ms. Andie on site plus Simon Bray/Christina Blacker and great coverage.

      Britney couldn’t carry Andie’s thong IMO…

      • willedav said, on November 5, 2022 at 12:45 pm

lulz. Nice image to keep in mind.
Andie seems so much more down to earth and has beauty of smile. She used to be on horse following them around track during post parade; can’t imagine glam conscious Britney doing that. More into her own self image and outfits. Once read something where when asked where she wanted to be in future, she said,
        “On GMA.” yikes

Uh oh. Flav is gonna go all horse racing all the time?

Apropos of nothing, this was an insane offensive battle between Montana and Fouts.

I sat in the north end zone for this one. Great great game despite the loss. Almost worth it for the commercials alone! Buy a Pontiac! 10.9% financing available!

  4. Winder said, on November 5, 2022 at 9:30 am

    Say it ain’t so.

  5. willedav said, on November 5, 2022 at 11:20 am

Too bad Unc’s vid got blocked. Used to live next door to big Chargers fan who had grown up there and moved north. He loved Air Coryell days, though usually it was up to Fouts to outscore the other guy who would light up what passed for Chargers D.

I clicked the Watch it on Youtube link and it worked.

      • willedav said, on November 5, 2022 at 12:47 pm

        awesome, thanks.

    • Winder said, on November 5, 2022 at 12:42 pm

That was a great game and with two pretty good defenses. The strike year really screwed things up.

      • Winder said, on November 5, 2022 at 12:43 pm

I could see why Walsh wanted big hands Johnson.

  6. alleykat69 said, on November 5, 2022 at 12:42 pm

Did the same Loco just clicked the watch it on YouTube it worked fine here and Chuck’s blog thanks Winder for finding it,that game was epic and Dick Enberg&Merlin Olson calling it was great! Commercial’s back then we’re fun to watch as well..

    • Winder said, on November 5, 2022 at 12:46 pm

Yeah, I had to laugh at the Chrysler adds. Except for the trucks their cars were terrible in 82/83.

whoa Johnny V get the 1 in there? 3 horse photo!

Anyone else think the Astros would lose a step or 2 this season without Correa? Just read a great article about Jeremy Pena. This kid Pena has been more than an adequate replacement at SS for the ‘stros . . . Everyone talks about the Dodgers and their minor league development system, but Houston is right there with them (w/Yordan Alvarez, Framber Valdez and Cristian Javier). I hope eventually Z can do something similar with the Giants.

Wow just not gonna matter with Flight line. Good for Flavien Prat who has had a rough weekend.

Philly and Houston squaring off is great baseball. Extremely entertaining

    • Locojuan said, on November 5, 2022 at 7:14 pm

Agreed. Didn’t think I’d get into it like I have been.

  11. Locojuan said, on November 5, 2022 at 7:14 pm

Alvarez hit the shit out of that one.

  12. djloo27 said, on November 5, 2022 at 7:17 pm

    Dusty can taste it…

  13. alleykat69 said, on November 5, 2022 at 7:25 pm

    Atleast his toothpick…

  14. Macdog said, on November 5, 2022 at 7:27 pm

Dusty closing in on the title thanks to opposing manager’s screw-up, ain’t that something.

  15. unca_chuck said, on November 5, 2022 at 7:34 pm

What’d I miss? Just turned on the game.

How fucked were we in 1982 if 10.9% financing is considered a deal? That’s a fucking nightmare.

    • Macdog said, on November 5, 2022 at 7:47 pm

Alvarez 3-run bomb gave Astros 3-1 lead in the 6th, they added another run in 6th for 4-1.

  16. Locojuan said, on November 5, 2022 at 7:38 pm

I was at a spring training game down in Tucson in 89, Giants and Indians. Dusty was hitting Fungo for our OFers when Jesse Orosco ran across the field and Dusty yelled out “So Tommy got rid of you too?”. Dusty being pissed at Lasorda has always been a plus for me.

  17. unca_chuck said, on November 5, 2022 at 7:39 pm

Bohm looks like Jayson Werth. K’s like him too.

  18. unca_chuck said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Dusty getting stoned with Jimi Hendrix has to be one of the coolest things ever.

  19. unca_chuck said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:06 pm

He should be safe but they’ll overturn it.

  20. alleykat69 said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:14 pm

How much is Dusty Bakers’s W/S game worn toothpick worth?

  21. Locojuan said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:17 pm

    Dustiny! Congrats to Johnnie B.

  22. unca_chuck said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:18 pm

  24. Giant Head said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:21 pm

    So happy for Dusty!!!

  25. Macdog said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:22 pm

Good for Dusty. And now the Flap countdown begins … ?

  26. alleykat69 said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:23 pm

Good for Dusty Baker&Russ Ortiz the demons are over!
Baker has done a tremendous job bringing some creditability back to a scandalous organization…

  27. djloo27 said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:27 pm

    For the last time:
It’s a direct insult to Reggie Jackson that the WS MVP award is named after Willie Mays…

    • willedav said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:50 pm

Bruce Jenkins said HBO special on Mays is great. Airs Tuesday iirc.

    • unca_chuck said, on November 5, 2022 at 9:44 pm

Yeah, gotta say yer right. Mays for all his accolades did not have enough Word Series’s’s to have the award named after him. Great Reggie Jackson commercial in that Niner game.

      Reggie Vision!!

And when are they gonna get rid of those 10 year old klutzes in the outfield at the HR Derby?

    • James said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:35 pm

At least everybody is now ok with OPS.

  29. Locojuan said, on November 5, 2022 at 8:32 pm

And what’s with the Warriors playing 5 road games in 7 days? Do all teams have to do this shit?

  32. unca_chuck said, on November 6, 2022 at 12:59 am

Had to see if this worked after midnight.

“Geronimo Pena, who was at the game, was the first opposing batter in Dusty Baker’s first game as manager. He got two singles for the Cardinals in the Giants’ 2-1 victory.
Tonight, Geronimo’s son, Jeremy Pena, got two hits and drove in two runs in Baker’s 2,000th victory.”
