A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Building Towards 2023

I like Joc, I really do. He’s probably our least boring hitter and that goes a long way with me when you consider the long LONG line of boring at bats we trot out there every game. I still don’t get 19 mil for a platoon guy.

Farhan also made a bunch of other moves that weren’t interesting in the slightest. “Goodbye Vosler” is about the extent of it.

Now that he’s brought back Joc and fiddled around with a bunch of Rule 5 BS it’s time for him to do some man’s work. Spend some money…..

We all know that Joc is dumb as a post but not dumb enough to take the money and run. He probably will get as much next season as he would have made in three years in the open market. Will the meathead fit well behind Judge in the lineup during his platoons?!!

Thought was SF would extend the deal to Joc another year to knock down the AAV, as in 2/25 or so. And primary reason he’s brought back at all is to be half of DH combo, not to play OF. Read somewhere that 2/3 of all pitchers are RH; also that SF had worse record vs. RHP than LHP.
Makes sense given what happened to Craw Belt Yaz Wade Jr. et al.
And as we all know, $$ is least of Giants woes.

B/R says SF was 29-26 vs. LHP, 52-55 vs. RHP.

just heard David Villar interviewed on KNBR. Man, that is one cool down to earth dude. Humble, focused, grateful, he’s all that shit and more. Really rooting for him.

I didn’t hear the interview, but I like the guy too. I also like that Longo worked with the kid a bit last year.

Part of “spend some money” has to be on pitching. in pitcher friendly yard like the O Giants gave up 9th most runs in NL, were 3rd worst for hits allowed and 5th worst for Ks. Rodon is so not coming back, so now they are minus 180 innings from single best SP from last season.
Preventing other teams from scoring, especially in Division with superstar laden Dogs and Padres, equally as important as adding non boring hitters, who aren’t gonna be cheap.

Think Hal sealed the deal on Judge?

“Spend some money” was the line used by most B-girls (a.k.a. roosts).

I don’t think Zaidi will ever be done fiddling around with Rule 5/Waiver Wire deals, hell, I think the dude has an addiction. Come on, last week he snags two catchers from the Rule 5 draft, this week they’re gone. Is it just a game he plays while sitting on the crapper?

When the hell is Z going to get active instead of dumpster diving?
Teoscar Hernandez a slugging RH Young outfielder with a silver slugger award on his resume for the Bluejays was just traded to the Mariners as Z’s phone remains on crickets mode.
Bluejays receive Erik Swanson & LHP prospect Adam Macko!

I would easily give up BP arms are a prospect (not Doval are Harrison)in a deal you get an everyday rising slugger to add to your LU for 145 plus games..

I thought the Kings would do pretty well against the Nets, but I very much didn’t expect what I saw: the Kings scoring 150 points and winning by 30. That got them lots of love from the TNT studio crew and the play-by-play team. Barkley called for Kings games to replace all the remaining Laker games on TNT.
Hey, it’s ultimately just one regular season game, but it was a fun one for Kings fans, and anyone that wanted to see a very uptempo NBA game.

Kings are improving. But come on, that was Durant and 4 scrubs.

Oh, to live the life of Jimmy . . .

Funny how McCaffrey doesn’t even get a nod.

    • snarkk said, on November 16, 2022 at 7:00 pm

Maybe Jimmy is too tired to do well, he gets too much ass…

What’s Bassitt gonna get? I mean, shit, you go after a FA pitcher, it might as well be Rodon. He’s 29. All these other guys are around 35 and up.

What a sanctimonious, moronic, whack job, dolt – Mike Pence is . . . “The former vice president said he believes Trump was “remorseful” and “saddened” about what happened on January 6th, saying, “I know that’s at odds with people’s public perception about him, but I want to tell you it was true.”

    Yeah, right Mike. lqtm

    • snarkk said, on November 16, 2022 at 7:02 pm

Pence is a complete spineless dishrag, beholden to Mother and Drumpf, not necessarily in that order. Even though one of the two tried to kill him…

I really get fed up with these religious zealots that hide behind their faith.

They prey on the kindness and morality of the everyday believer. I hate em. They are nothing but greedy, lying bastards.

Pence was about 20 seconds from being killed in the insurrection. They go the wrong way, he’s dead. And he’s still gonna bow to Trump?

Unfuckingreal. There are people duped by the blather of Trump, there are people making tons of money preying on their stupidity, and there are politicians raking in the money, and ignoring their constituents. At least most of the election deniers were voted down.

Flemming doing b-ball game in Austin with horns hosting Zags. With awesome Fran Fraschilla, Brooklyn native.
Glad more top teams playing each other these days in preseason. Calipari will bring Kentucky out West to play Zags this weekend.

? How many points has a Warrior not named Wilt scored in a loss? Curry has 47 and GS is down 14 with 4 minutes left.

    • djloo27 said, on November 16, 2022 at 9:37 pm

I’m gonna guess more than you might think…

  15. unca_chuck said, on November 16, 2022 at 9:45 pm

Steph got 50. The rest of the team was 25 for 64.

Sounds like a big hit from Chicago (the band)…

Lol. Loved that song as a kid. Chicago was one of my first favorite bands.

So now it’s politics AND religion here?
Complete disregard of the boss here.
Hope he shuts it down immediately…

Baseball is a religion, a form of it, but there’s not one god.
The game is the thing. Admittedly, I’ve lost some of my passion for it the last few years…

    Offseason thoughts.
OF – Since we probably have zero chance to get Judge, I’d overpay right now for Nimmo, maybe also get someone like Benintendi too and with Joc, Yaz and Wade Jr to complete the OF.

INF- I figure with Villar/Davis and Wilber, 3b is covered. Craw is going to be playing SS and 2B is Estrada’s to lose I’d get a MI like Andrus or Profar (who could also play OF). I’d love Bell at 1B but not for 3 years, Fangraphs projects Belt getting 1 year for $10 mil, unless the staff thinks that his knees are complete rice krispies, with the shift rule and his defense I’d gamble on another year with him.

C – I’m all in on the Bart train and I’m OK with Wynns backing him, or even getting Casali to come back.

SP- Rodon was awesome, better defense and he gets the Cy this year, but 5 year contracts for power pitchers make me nervous. Although, we do need to spend here and get a strong #2 behind Webb.

RP – I would really like to see a true long guy in there.

DH – Mainly Joc and Wilber
