A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

The Big Game!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on November 19, 2022

ZZZZzzzzzz. Man, I remember when this day was one of the most exciting days of the year. This year I had to check to see where it was even getting played. I went to exactly 1 game at Cal’s stupid stadium–yes, THAT game.

I’ll watch a little today if I get bored.

They both suck, Cal less injuries/less excuses for 6 losses in a row.

Man for a team with couple good posts in Randle and Sims, Knicks sure take lot of 3s, and aren’t very good at them. funny enough they hit 32/34 FTs last night–so why not keep attacking the rim or use Randle more inside vs. GS?
warriors announcer Fitz talked up their D, but I thought it was more NY missing shots than anything else. Looking at B/R numbers, most starters not shooting well at all from distance.

Yeah, weird game. I couldn’t believe how many free throws NY took. Warriors drives are routinely rejected and theirs we foul. Story of the team with no inside presence. Wigs and Thompson COULD try to drive more, but it rarely happens.

Yaz gets 1 year at $6.1 mill. And he plays more than Joc.

I hear the Giants want to sign Holden McGroyn to a 1-year deal.

      Hope so!
If they can couple him with Heywood Jablowme it would be a nice 1-2 punch out of the pen.
It’s great to be 12 years old again…

Did you check out the “people also viewed” thing on the side?

LOL!!!!!! VP of Operations at Amazon.

        Barry McCockinner

        That’s a new one.

        No Mike Litoris though!

        Barry was my favorite!

Really think the Giants could use a rise in the organization and hire Dick Pole, Johnny Dickshot, Pete LaCock, and Rusty Kuntz …

I tell ya, one of the funniest incidental things about having kids was hearing the ‘new’ jokes they came home with. Especially my son. The same dead baby jokes, limericks, and riddles that we all told each other as 3rd graders. Weird how they kind of live in the stasis of being 10 for the kids that roll through elementary school generation after generation. Sure there were some new ones, but he was kinda amazed I had heard most of the jokes before.

Why did the scarecrow win the Nobel prize?
Because he was outstanding in his field!
    Sorry Chuck inspired me.

NBA has ben playing for exactly a month, and defending champs still don’t have a road win! Crazy!

I think the Giants are gonna end up looking pretty much like last year. I like Yastremski(sp) but unless he figures out how to hit changeups, sliders, and curveballs he’s probably have similar stats.

Gotta love the manscaping ad at the top of the blog today.
Throw in a little blue pill ad and there’s the daily double…

Tightwad Hill is still one of the greatest names ever.

    • Winder said, on November 19, 2022 at 2:23 pm

That used to be such a fun game. Used to love going to the Stanford bonfire.

I’m gonna watch the Big Game today, who am I kidding?

    • willedav said, on November 19, 2022 at 2:12 pm

Somebody has to win. Combined score last weekend for both teams was 80-17 against. Larry Collmus calling Del Mar races

      • Flavor said, on November 19, 2022 at 2:50 pm

after that first drive where we drove through those pussies like they weren’t even on the field, I’d say the Cardinal is looking good today.

      • willedav said, on November 19, 2022 at 3:10 pm

Second one wasn’t bad either lol. Both teams have problems protecting QBs

  10. Flavor said, on November 19, 2022 at 4:08 pm

Stanford stinks but Cal is worse.

    • willedav said, on November 19, 2022 at 4:40 pm

Notice Stanford QB doesn’t drop back very far when he sets up to pass? Is that by design of Shaw or just his preferred distance?

      • Flavor said, on November 19, 2022 at 4:53 pm

they’re doing this thing where the RB and QB put their hands on the ball and hold it at the same time. It’s not a straight RPO. I don’t know what it is.

  11. willedav said, on November 19, 2022 at 4:48 pm

TD Cardinal, what a drive. 3 straight designed runs Cal couldn’t stop, oy.
You know that if Shaw wins this and gets axe back, he ain’t going anywhere.

    • Flavor said, on November 19, 2022 at 4:53 pm

Stupid ass Shaw is gonna run the ball for the rest of the game and try to bleed the clock just like Kyle does.

  12. Flavor said, on November 19, 2022 at 4:54 pm

I’m so done with Shaw. Time for some new blood on the Farm. It would almost be worth Cal coming back and winning this game just to get rid of him

MLB has an article about which teams might be in on the 4 “big” free-agent shortstops (Turner, Correa, Bogaerts, Swanson), and Giants are one of them despite (or maybe because of?) Crawford being in his last year. Article says that after a disappointing 81-81 season, “the star-free Giants” are at a crossroads (haha, cue the song) “and it’s quite clear they’ll be in on Aaron Judge as well as pretty much every other notable free agent.” That certainly remains to be seen. The article concludes that SS is probably not the team’s biggest problem for 2023: “There’s no shortage of holes to fill here.” Star-free Giants. I doubt Z cares much about that, he just wants to build a winner, but sure a little star power would probably help fans get more invested again. Personally, would love to get Turner or Correa and still keep Crawford for spot starts, PH, DH, defense in late innings. Guess we’ll soon see how active Z will be…

I can barely remember when the Giants signed or traded for a player that was ASCENDING. Seriously, it must have been Bonds, right? Bryant wasn’t. Longoria, nope. Schmidt was mediocre prior to the Giants (see his ERA before the Giants). Jeff Samardzija hadn’t accomplished shit with the Cubs.

Maybe Jeff Kent and definitely Bonds . . . that’s it.
