All Alone….In First Place
That win certainly wasn’t as fun as the Mexico win but the W is all that matters. I personally think the waters are going to get very steep vs Miami. Who is going to cover Hill and Waddle? Those guys are insanely fast and they have an arm that can get them the ball. I guess we’ll see. Our D is great but those 2 guys are studs and then you’ve got Jeff Wilson Jr. playing with a chip on his shoulder. Think we could use him now with Mitchell banged up again? As I said at the time, it was completely stupid to trade that guy.
Not too worried about Wilson. Mostert? Sure. But both those guys were nothing until the team made them what they are. Pretty stupid to be mouthing off about shit, but hey, go for it.
I think Mason’s a better runner than Wilson anyway. This game will be all about the pass rush. We weren’t getting to Dalton yesterday because everything was 3-5 step quick passes. Miami goes deep more so the rush has to be there or it will be a shoot out.
Losing Mitchell sucks tho. He can’t stay on the fucking field. CMC better be healthy.
Wilson did leave Fins game with leg injury of his own. Mostert is out too. Tough league on running backs.
I think his was only cramps and they were blowing out Houston anyway. Mostert didn’t play as he has a knee injury. Not sure if he’ll be back.
I didn’t like the Wilson trade either. Miami knew his worth and that’s why we got a 5th. I was wrong on the CMC trade though since I didn’t like that one either I though he was too much of an injury risk. Kinda like all our rb’s.
I think Mason will turn out to be the better back. better than Wilson anyway.

Craig: Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Lucky folk in California have enjoyed medical, anyway, ever since they were enabled by the state’s long ago Initiative and Referendum when we the people could actually make laws (as in any democratic republic) the good folk of the Golden State struck pay dirt by voting in favor of Dennis Peron’s Prop 215. Somehow, we poor folks in Manysnowta (yeah, we’ve had that particular white blessing since 11-11-22,) but alas, we never persuaded our Statehouse electees to pass an I & R. Bill back in the day (generally early 20’s) It’s so different now than when ballsy types like Upton Sinclair made a few waves on behalf of the people. Some things have kinda gone feeble over the past Century.
Curiously, a Mpls.Star-Tribune poll was released but buried amongst all the hype the day after Election Day of ’16.That survey revealed that well over half of Minnesotans were registered as favoring full legalization. Even worse over in Snout Takota. The people voted 75% to legalize, so their Rino Republican governor, her surname is Neom, got together with her legal staff and came up with a formula to over-ride the will of the people. Three to One odds and the pro$titians sure act like they are representing some special elements instead of the vast majority of the people. Three to one odds, Baby.
But with the Two-Party monopoly of the Blues and the Reds, this now color-blinded reality has become plenty much schizophrenic. If a bill favors Big Biz,particularly if its like the comfy jobs common in places like the “military industrial complex” as I Like Ike pronounced, where SoCal is the national champion for all those smart engineers and such gobbled up by the WarDefense industry. The pork barrels are rolling again…another good reason for despising the damned, dirty, despicable Dogpile.
Okay, so much for the politix, but I’ve been a rebel starting at age 17 and that was a while and a half ago.
Another nice thing about this post-working afternoon on the homestead once again enjoying a bit of greenery with the scenery, So while keyboarding here, particularly groking with the Real-Eye-Zation that I’m among friends, I feel a lot more like I’m being myself again. So rack up another one for the Great Green Goddess…females of that type anyway, happen to be very gracious providers. A bit heart-warming.
Keep on Flappin on. It’s a pretty special scene. ..a reality zone all of its own. -stix
P.S. : Expecting that the Giants ownership will not flop once again into mediocrity instead of bringing back to the Bay, a nice passel of those high-payed ballplayers. Personally, I favor an Ace-mate for our Webb-spinner and a couple of quality relievers, one a Tiger and the other a Detroit free-agent are my current takes. Then some bucks for a more than passable CFer, both with the bat and the glove and finally an infield leadoff man who gets on base a lot and snags everything in sight. That’s my current Xmas wish-list.
sorry, this was his original email to me

O.K. Flav…looks like you kinda, sorta called me out on this thread. So here goes.
Betcha all that that my Thanksgiving celebration yesterday afternoon, after a couple hours clearing up some really messed up trees (after 6 years+ of no attendance), I repaired to the front seat of the little ’99 Sable and pulled out a small but handmade pipe given me earlier in the week by one of my best friends. Stuffed it with a tad of “Purple Haze”, grown by a very discerning nother friend (This is in Manysnowta, after all where for a number of years the music scene was dominated in princely fashion by the Purple Reign of this guy with the surname of Nelson, coinkidentally my mother’s birth surname). No relation, so I’m not among the hordes of them who have battled ferociously over the estate. In this Scandihoovian center of the continent we have plenty of Nelsons, nowadays of every imaginable melanin content, including the original blonde/blue types.
Get this: Yesterday evening, before dining on a Cornish-style pasty, some calculating needed to be done. The fed fusion force which targeted me for my 1975 actions in support of the 2nd Amendment and various other rebellious statements and actions, as well as allowing wild cannabis plants to grow around the place, including one tiny specimen located less then a foot from the front door, between two of the flat rocks, (uncemented) which make up the front steps and quite a few of them less than ten feet away; made for a perfect cover story for a possible MAJOR media hit, should the BAU (FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit) located in Quantico, Va., with the mission statement (unofficial) of CREATING criminals, correctly supposed that while being satellite-beamed by means of source to brain-pan psychotronic weaponry; I would have hauled out something like an AR-15 or Kalashnikov, so that the 120 foot high chopper would have crashed and burned. No such luck for the Monster Media Splash, but also unlucky for me as the palsy in my left harm, holding the Winchester, was so extreme that the shakiness transformed an intended warning-shot into a hit. Not so good for me as just last week, on 11-11-22, I was finally LIBERATED from federal probation with its pissttests and all.
Meaning of all that was that for a grand total of 1,382 days (daze) I was prohibited from enjoying the most efficacious pain reliever known to medical science (not including dangerous pharmaceuticals and addictive opiates). Additional to its pain-relieving qualities, for me anyway, the Great Green Goddess is also highly effective in opening the right side of the brain and thus overcoming the rational, logical, analytical and extremely lineal left-side of the brain. With a more holistic mindset, higher levels of creativity are an easier reach…so long as you do not join the “wake n’bakes”…or else wise overdo the pleasure side of things.
Creativity, that’s my gig. For that, Indica is a no-go zone. Back in the original hippie years we all pretty much had three semi-discrete categories for fellow smokers. Biggest numbers by far were the “stoners”, who simply loved getting high. By numbers, numbness was a sought after reality for those who for whatever reasons did not fit into the strictures of society. We called them the “Loadies” as they would ingest virtually anything (glue-sniffing was big for about a decade) amongst those Loadies. Smallest contingent were the heads: Was it Mama Cass Elliott or maybe even Janice who belted it out: “Feed your head”? Anyhoo, a lot of poets, painters, musicians and such sought out that very Sativan quality as the fave.
….. So there I sat in the little red car, probably the left front tire resting upon what had been the site of one of those wild plants and delightedly did my personal THANKSGIVING DUTY of loading up that little bowl with the gracious purple and happily puffed away those One-Thousand-Three Hundred and Eighty Two daze of enforced abstinence.
Thanksgiving evening, before dining on the pasty heating in the over; I took stock from the perspective of those thousand+++ days of enforced abstinence. Perspective, that’s what it was:
-Seeing through a different set of eyes.
-Feelings greatly enhanced
-Drawing from the Right side of the Brain
-Expanded Attention Zone.
Jack Heart: A very alternative website (spiritual stuff and all that) that I frequently visit, did a posting yesterday. It was from an astrological perspective: “This closing of the Moon Cycle in Saggitarius, provided an excellent opportunity for making a fresh start or starting a new project”. Right On! Dude.
Truly, Cannabis can be a medicine, if discerningly employed. Not only is it an excellent pain-reliever, but it also quickens the mind and brightens the spirit. No doubt that was one of the reasons why the PTB outlawed the stuff… with the feds still hanging on to this deeply unpopular law like a pitbull in heat.
All in all, it was a wonderful THANKSGIVING repast…my most memorable ever.
Hey, and icing on the cake was the seesaw battle in U.$. Bank stadium between the rioting Patricks, all loaded up on Guiness versus the team formerly known as the Purple People Eaters. Showcasing the utterly amazing W.R. Justin Jefferson and his spectacular catches; that team held on once again right down to the wire after getting utterly smooshed the week before by their bete noire, the Dallas Cowgirls. After all, I should have a bit of affection for the Purple Gang, as having been an Andy Frain usher at their first ever NFL game at the old Met Stadium in the fall of ’63; I witnessed a crazy-ass upset over the highly favored dominant bruiser Bears. It was only a few years later that those Purple People Eaters, led by Allan Page and Carl Eller, got their claim to fame…Page later to become a member of the Minnesota Supreme Court. I believe he was the first man of African heritage to hold such a position.
Will los Gigantes make the big $$$ moves this fall and keep the bunch of us glued to the Flap (hopefully enabled by our very own Big Flavor) right on through this season of intended recovery? Over time, all is revealed. -stix
Good to know ‘loadies’ was part of Stix’s lexicon. And that he survived the Met. Something on my bucket list is to go to a Packers game at Lambeau then buzz down to Chi-town for a Bears game.
“Feed your head” was Grace Slick’s line, end of White Rabbit, no?
Always liked the Vikes in early days, cool uni and helmet. Fran Tarkenton, pass rushers including Jim Marshall (“he’s running the wrong way” as Lon Simmons put it), HOF safety Paul Krause. Too bad they were always embarrassing themselves in playoffs.
Yep. Not Janis.
Yeah, they had Chuck Foreman, the ‘other’ Gene Washington, and Ed Marinaro. Later of Hill Street Blues fame.
Stix- Congratulations, you made it through one of the biggest traps there is (parole). You deserve a fete and Thanksgiving is a great day to have one in. Although, in my younger years I was a sativa person I have since leaned to the other side and enjoy the indica just as much. In fact I really can’t tell the difference anymore. Moderation is the key to all of it since being in the state of chronic is not much fun at this stage of life. Thank you for the post. I am still smiling.
Thinking is deals might start to get rolling during or right after Winter Meetings this weekend.
Z is in weird spot and it wouldn’t surprise me he doesn’t do anything extreme.
He did engineer 2021 without any mega deals and has gotten best out of Solano Yaz Belt Ruf and Gausman at very least. Didn’t think it sustainable but he’s also managed to fill pitching back in with Rodon and they’ve managed to hone skills of Webb Doval Brebbia, get Villar Bart and Estrada to ML level and have prospects on cusp of being ready for 2024.
Less concerned about how “boring” they are than beat writers and lot of fans–I’d watch baseball anyway. Hindsight I think Z mostly did right by not going all in on FAs last year like Semien Seager Castellanos and Bryant, so curious to see how he manages expectations this offseason.
The fact that the best FAs are again shortstops plus Judge and a bunch of older pitchers kinda suggests a conservative direction. Maybe Judge will surprise and sign here. If he doesn’t, it won’t be because management didn’t compete for him. There just aren’t many great fits. Still, there are a few good players that he can add, even if it means “overpaying” to secure them.
me and weed don’t agree. And gummies are straight up from hell man. My brain doesn’t jive with that shit.
I only do little bits at a time and it works real well with stress and helps me sleep. Since I don’t take any prescription medication I really appreciate the stuff.
Weird throbbing at the back of the skull. I hate that shit.
Yeah, quit smoking pot 35 years ago. Edibles are Satan’s candy. Fuck that shit.
Beer and the occasional whiskey is all I do these days. Although i did microdose mushrooms and that was actually very cool. May do that again if the situation presents itself.
Elijah (Crystal Todd) Mitchell out 8 weeks.
Time for Jason Mason to step up.
On another note, the Broncos likely lose out the rest of their games and give Seattle a top 3 pick in the 2023 draft.
And somehow Elway keeps his job.
It’s legal – what fun is that?
I wanted a tattoo till everybody got one…
Wish it was legal over here…. but still quite available. Just don’t get caught. Although they don’t really care about personal use, that would just be a fine (“coffee money” for the police), they focus on smuggling…
“For teams that still need help at first the options are starting to dwindle” says MLBTR now that Rizzo Abreu etc. have already been signed. Bell and Mancini still out there. Would SF roll with in house combo of Wilmet Davis and Villar, all RHs?
BB9 says he’s never felt better.
Would it surprise anyone if the Brandons rode off into the sunset together?
Everyone feels great in ST. Then 6 months of real baseball starts. Don’t think his knee holds up which is too bad because 2020/21 he was raking and no one was talking Belt wars anymore.
I think they go for Bell.
Speaking of 1B, I’ve been trying to figure out where Belt might end up. Texas has Lowe who had a good year so that’s probably out, I guess Belt could go somewhere as a DH but his defense is still solid (when he’s on the field). I know it’s weird, but I really am curious where Belt ends up. I’m rooting for the guy and I’m thinking with the new shift rule, Belt could have a hell of a year.
Sorry Loo, I didn’t see your post before I typed mine.
Belt back to SF would be a 1 year deal and I’m hoping they get away from doing those, but yeah, I could see Zaidi doing a Brandon(s) farewell tour.
God no. And then the Longo services rendered deal. aaaaaaaaakk!
Hah, not saying I want to see it, but I could see Zaidi doing something like that.
Seems to me, every time we say we know what Zaidi’s plans are, he does the opposite. Another thing I could see him doing is going after lower $ FAs but trading for players that teams want to do a salary dump with.
i’m praying Belt ends up in Texas…..
Mac what’s going on? Spain still in this?
Spain’s next game is Thursday vs. Japan. Here are the various scenarios for Spain either advancing to the next round or not making it, with top two from Group E moving on:
Spain: Are guaranteed to qualify with a win/draw vs Japan. Will win the group with a victory, or with a draw if Costa Rica draw/lose vs. Germany.
If Spain lose and Costa Rica win, Spain are out.
If Spain lose and Germany win:
– Japan win the group with six points, Spain and Germany both have four points; and
— Second place will be decided between Spain and Germany on group goal difference and goals scored, and Germany would have to overturn a deficit of eight goals.
If Spain lose and Costa Rica-Germany is a draw, Spain will finish second unless they lose by at least 13 goals.
thanks my man. As you know, I have $$ on them. If they advance to the next rd I will watch one of their games. Who’s my favorite player on that team?
Alvaro Morata? He has 2 goals and 1 assist in the tourney.
Morata! I shall now roll deep with him for the rest of my life.
USA 🇺🇸 just scored 1-0 over Iran 🇮🇷
Christian Pulisac with the goal but got injured but now back in gamer!
Soooo close to a 2nd goal in extra time (mystery time as I call it), gonna be a nail-biting 2nd half.
US hangs on for the win!
USA moves on!! Damm that was exciting right to the end!
1-0 take a hike back to Iran bitches..
Eddacker would be proud of “football” followers here.
Chron used to have great soccer writer and others who follow sport here would talk about him, really funny, Mr. Black (Alan?) iirc.
i think i’m gonna have an easier time caring about Spain than US from here on out.
USA!!!!!
Last soccer game I watched was when the US women beat China for the world cup. It was a great game.
Women’s World Cup is great. Of course, one reason why maybe is because the US women are generally pretty darned good…
I was thinking it wasn’t that long ago that Spain won, I remember watching that one, seems like just a few years ago. Haha, 2010. In my memory’s defense, that is only 3 World Cups ago…. They’re still a good team.
As for the Brandons “staying on” another year, fine, on the bench. Giants do NOT have any other 1stbasemen on the team. Love Wilmer, but not a 1st bagger. Neither are Villar or Davis, etc. Team needs to stop plugging players into positions that they can’t play well. In my Giants fan tenure, it’s been a pleasure watching Snow and Belt man that spot. Every time they put out a Ruf or Vosler or Villar or Wade or Wilmer, I just shudder…. Get a real first baseman already.
I agree with you all the way P/A!
You don’t want to go a whole season using a combination of Wadejr,Davis,Flores &Villar at 1B when you can go out and get an everyday 1st baseman who is a switch hitter ( bonus points) in Josh Bell.. Who would add good protection behind Judge batting 3rd(wishful thinking) in the LU batting cleanup..
Don’t care about that Dub loss at all. Would have been a nice win but Luca was God-like. Nice to see Kuminga back. And who is this fucking Lamb guy? Reminds me of a black Sarunus.
Lamb is shooter, making his way onto team without full contract. Limited to 50 games I think.
Watching college ball Big Ten vs ACC games. Only guy I can remember from Penn State who ever played in NBA was Bob Weiss, not exactly poster guy for program as player.
Yeah, Lamb is on a two-way contract. He may work himself onto the team. Shit, just make Iggy a coach. He’s not gonna play. Just so irksome to see Steph and Dray committing 4 turnovers with under 3 minutes. I do like Dray playing with the 2nd team, though. They get a lot more stability and Kuminga looks like he’s getting with the program. He played some nice defense in spurts on Doncic. But he still struggles trying to go to the hole.
I wish the Giants would bring Timmy back in some capacity.
Might be nice for him after his personal tragedy and it would
be so great just to see him around.
He also knows a thing or two about pitching…
He’d smoke Dick Pole as a coach.
Thought I’d briefly revive the only mildly funny thing I ever posted on the Flap.
Good call.
The Giants should reach out with a ST Advisor role at the very least.
Interesting discussion on MLBTR about Toronto hiring Mattingly to be bench coach for new mgr that took over team in July, who had been previous bench coach.
Yanks fans think he should have been hired to take Boone’s job. Also lot of talk about Mattingly and HOF, which he could join soon, like Bonds Kent and others.
i doubt Timmy wants to come back. He’s a lone wolf on to the next chapter of life.
Given that the Giants are flush with cash right now, and they most likely will be signing some long-term deals, why not front load em? Those back loaded contracts have never really made sense to me, unless the team is avoiding the luxury tax or maybe there is an issue with the player’s income tax rate, why do teams do them?
If the Giants front loaded some long-term contracts, they could still sign players and have $s coming off the books when it’s time to give Webb and/or others a raise. Also, as the player gets older, that 8 year deal wouldn’t look so bad. Longo at $9 mil last year wouldn’t seem as bad as the $18+ mil they paid him.
It just seems like it would make a lot of sense for the Giants this year, am I missing something?
Good question Loco . . . This blog is dated, but these are the reasons for and against frontloading per this individual:
https://josephdelgrippo.wordpress.com/2009/07/15/why-dont-major-league-baseball-teams-front-load-contracts/
Interesting take, thanks Blade. The ego thing never even crossed my mind, but I bet that its true. Still, it looks like there are enough positives, for both the players and the teams, that it still makes sense to me for the Giants to at least try.
Agree.
Adios Mexico.
