A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Spain, For the Win

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on December 1, 2022

As I understand it today is Win Day for my favorite soccer team and my all time favorite soccer player of all time, my mainest of men, Alvaro Morata—he got us this far and he shall carry us on his back to the next round!

I never post political stuff but this is just too funny. I get about 20 emails a day from Trump’s camp begging for money. A couple of years ago I signed up for the emails. When they asked for my name I just put in Fuck You.

So all the emails start out Fuck, which is funny just in itself. Read this one:

 Fuck,
 My father doesn’t ask everyone.

He asked YOU.
He wants YOUR NAME on the 2024 Presidential Donor List.

HURRY.Please give ANY AMOUNT IMMEDIATELY to claim your 1300%-IMPACT and get your name on the FIRST 2024 Presidential Donor List. >>

For starters, the % impact is always going higher. It used to be around 400%. Now up to 1300%. It is never explained where this magical extra money comes from. The Percentage Impact Gods? I don’t know. Next, apparently my name Fuck You, who Trump has specifically asked to see on his list, is supposedly going FIRST on a 2024 Donor List. The FIRST ONE. All these dudes do is beg for money, how could this be the first donor list?

Anyway, they all make me laugh but this one especially so.

I think you should donate Fuck You and have your name on their official donor list…

Have they nicknamed you Biggley Fuck yet? You can’t beat 1,300% impact, that is some high-quality impact.
Flav, have you ever thought about turning the tables on em? Maybe send them a note saying you want your $227 dollars back. Since they told you they would spend that money to help the Patriots, yet they spent the money on Melania’s new shoes and not your favorite football team. Signed Fuck You (of course).

    RIP Gaylord Perry.

Nooooooo! Oh, man. That sucks. Saw him beat the Pirates in game 1 of the 1971 playoffs and thought we were on our way to the World Series. Saw him a few other times, but that one stands out in the memory banks. Perry pitched a complete game and McCovey homered.

He had a house close by to us when I first moved here to NC. He gave my wife (he charged her a dollar) a signed bat that Louisville Slugger made for his HOF induction. He told her it was worth $250 because he checked it out online. I wanted to get him to sign a jar of Vaseline but never got the chance.

Too cool. He always seemed like quite the character. A great guy to shoot the shit with.

    • willedav said, on December 1, 2022 at 8:38 am

Yeah that’s too bad. Great Giant, quite a character

Another one of my all-time favorites bites the dust. What a great pitcher.

W.C. Fields would have loved Trump.

His old flicks were hilarious, full of great one liners. Funny names too.

Tonight sometime around or after 6, the Giants youtube channel will be showing some sort of production on Cain’s perfect game.
I know nothing about the Giants youtube channel, just passing along the info from what I heard on KNBR.

    RIP Christine McVie…

Saw in Chron John Hadl died at age 82. Won AFL title in 1963 with SD Chargers in those great unis. AFL was one fun wide open league, full of guys released or from small schools or not given chance in NFL that went on to stardom.

So sad to hear about Christine McVay, one of the original members along with her ex John,Crazy Mick Fleetwood who’s awesome and Peter Green.
Her voice was like an Angel 👼 and a solid keyboard 🎹 player!
RIP Christine you will be missed🙏💔

Geez Gaylord Perry &QB John Hadl as well they really do happen in 3’s?
    Man I know I’m getting old when I’ve seen all 3 perform they’re craft…

Spain jumps out to 1-0 lead vs. Japan on Morata goal in 11th minute.

    • Locojuan said, on December 1, 2022 at 12:04 pm

      Oh no, Japan just scored.

      • Locojuan said, on December 1, 2022 at 12:10 pm

        And again. Wow.

      • Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 12:19 pm

        Yikes, Spain down 2-1.

      • Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 12:23 pm

And Costa Rica is tied with Germany 1-1. If Spain loses and Costa Rica wins, Spain is out.

  10. Flavor said, on December 1, 2022 at 12:16 pm

Name a worse trade in Giants history than George Foster for Frank Duffy and Vern Geishert

    • Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 12:20 pm

Gaylord Perry for Sam McDowell comes pretty close.

      • willedav said, on December 1, 2022 at 1:44 pm

        Yes it does.

    • Winder said, on December 1, 2022 at 1:50 pm

Orlando Cepeda for ray sedacki (sp)

    • djloo27 said, on December 1, 2022 at 5:31 pm

Bill Hands and Randy Hundley for Lindy McDaniel and Don Landrum.
      Cost us 2 pennants, IMO…

      • Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 5:40 pm

        Yes, Hands down . . .

  11. unca_chuck said, on December 1, 2022 at 12:25 pm

How about Gaylord Perry and Frank Fucking Duffy for Drunken Sam McDowell. Duffy ended up being a solid SS for the Indians for 8 years. McDowell sucked ass and we sold him to the Yanks for cash.

Love this. Giants in 1st place!!

This is a pretty great tribute to Gaylord Perry from MLB network.

    • blade3colorado said, on December 1, 2022 at 1:20 pm

Thanks for sharing Unca. Unfreakingbelievable, that he averaged 295 innings annually for 9 years within his illustrious, 21 year career. Top guy in MLB last season was Sandy Alcantara (whom I consider a stud) with 228. Wow!

      • Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 2:02 pm

Perry is 6th all-time in innings pitched, 5,350 in 22 seasons. Among his contemporaries, he’s behind only Niekro (4th at 5,404 in 24 seasons) and Ryan (5th at 5,386 in 27 seasons). So if Perry could’ve gone one more season, he’d likely be 4th all-time.

      • djloo27 said, on December 1, 2022 at 5:12 pm

So sad to hear about Perry.
        A million stories.
His brother Jim was no slouch either…

      • djloo27 said, on December 1, 2022 at 5:13 pm

        Thanks, Chuck…

    • Winder said, on December 1, 2022 at 1:57 pm

      Thanks. that was real nice.

    • Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 2:10 pm

Great video, love seeing the old footage, especially pre-enclosed Candlestick. ” . . . and an occasional stretch of the rules . . . ” haha.

      • willedav said, on December 1, 2022 at 3:06 pm

yeah nice to see Mays Marichal Willie Mac Cepeda and old unis and Stick. Very cool.

  13. Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 12:52 pm

Germany up 4-2, I think Spain will get through.

    • Flavor said, on December 1, 2022 at 12:54 pm

PHEW! The dream is still alive!!!!!!

      • Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 1:09 pm

Yes, got a little scary when Costa Rica led 2-1 for a few minutes.

      • willedav said, on December 1, 2022 at 3:08 pm

lulz. “my all time favorite soccer player of all time.”
Or at least the last 2 days.
        Hilarious.

Btw, SI says Stanford talking to Greg Roman.

    • snarkk said, on December 1, 2022 at 3:21 pm

They must be interested in getting to the red zone, then not scoring TDs…

    • Flavor said, on December 1, 2022 at 3:40 pm

i’m sure that 0 personality of his will go a long way to scoring all the best recruits

Fucking Spain lying down like dogs to Japan, a team that has no chance to win, while the glorious fatherland is denied its rightful opportunity to gain ground on Brazil.

    • Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 4:02 pm

Uh, Germany lost to Japan too.

      • James said, on December 1, 2022 at 4:41 pm

Yeah. it was kinda like one of those football games where one team outgains the other 400-180, yet the latter wins 16-14 on a turnover and a special team’s play. I’ll admit I didn’t watch the Spain game.

  16. unca_chuck said, on December 1, 2022 at 4:21 pm

    go Costa Rica!!!

    • James said, on December 1, 2022 at 4:43 pm

They did an admirable job of not giving up 7 goals today.

      • Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 5:03 pm

Now there’s the team that laid down like dogs early in the tourney.

  17. zumiee said, on December 1, 2022 at 5:09 pm

I was really stunned to hear about the death of Christine McVie. Of that band lineup that hit huge in the 1970s, who would have guessed that she would be the first to pass? Some other members of the band did huge amounts of cocaine and other substances in the ’70s and ’80s.
But, then again, Keith Richards rolls on like an unstoppable force of nature.

    • James said, on December 1, 2022 at 5:45 pm

She forgot to think about tomorrow.

  18. unca_chuck said, on December 1, 2022 at 5:11 pm

Flav, you GOT to donate a dollar.

    • Macdog said, on December 1, 2022 at 5:19 pm

      Fuck, yeah!

  19. djloo27 said, on December 1, 2022 at 9:58 pm

Because of Perry I started loading up the ball in little league (1966) age 9.5 and never stopped regardless of who or what I was playing for. Vaseline, KY jelly, WD-40, there was nothing I wouldn’t use. Even had my own personal umpire in my pocket in 3 different leagues.
Still doing it today for my Parrish softball team 56 years later.
You play your games, I’ll play mine…
