A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

I Hate Tom Brady

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on December 11, 2022

Quite an interesting game vs my arch nemesis. Any rational thinking football fan knows that Joe Montana is the greatest QB of all time. And yet there are still those who believe that honor goes to Tom Brady. Absurd. Brady never would have lasted even half this long if he had to operate under the rules governing Montana’s time. And longevity is what has allowed Brady to achieve this this fake level of greatness. Perfect is perfect and Joe was 4 for 4 in his SB appearances. You give me 1 game I need to win and I pick Montana as my QB 100 out of 100 times…..

The oldest going up against the youngest. Can’t beat a match up like this. If Brady doesn’t regret coming back for this year already he’s going to after this game…….

I didn’t know you were this big a Montana fan (my favorite player of all time). I couldn’t have said it better Craig!!!!

Did you Montan-iacs root for him during his 2 years in KC?

      • blade3colorado said, on December 11, 2022 at 8:24 am

Absolutely Loo . . . loved his 2 games against Elway led Broncos and 49ers and Young, where he won both classic, close games. Quite frankly, it took me a couple of years to warm up to Steve Young. By the by, I met Montana, Randy Cross, and a few other ‘Niners during practices they had inside Hanger 1 (big blimp hanger at Moffett Field), when I was an occupational safety and health manager for NASA back in the late 80s. They regularly had “walk through” practices there, particularly during any playoff run they were involved in, as Bill Walsh was very big on secrecy, prior to playoff games.

no. Once you’re gone you’re basically dead to me. But looking back on his career I have nothing but the utmost love for him and his place as the greatest QB of all time

I was watching the 9ers and KC while waiting for a connecting flight in St Louis. People there thought I was completely nuts because I was rooting loudly for both team’s offenses.

Bassitt is still out there and he’s been pretty good last couple years. Will cost a draft pick. Let’s see how many years contract runs for. maybe like Senga it would take an opt out but Bassitt would help SF imo.

Raining steadily right now in south bay

Hour later and sun is out. Might be nice day at Levi’s after all.
Hard to compare QBs across eras; no slight to Montana but I liked lot of guys (Dan Fouts types) when more deeper passes were thrown more often than in West Coast offense, even though at its best it was unstoppable.
Today…I see this all the time as offenses have imo devolved into endless checkdowns: 2nd and 8, QB throws quick short pass that gains 3 yds, and then tries same thing on 3rd and 5. zzzz–so many fewer throws down the field for 10-12-15 yd gains. Despite all the advantages offense has nowadays, just more boring football to watch.

Blade, did you see the Montana documentary on Peacock? You should watch that if you haven’t.

    • blade3colorado said, on December 11, 2022 at 8:38 am

Flav, that’s the downside of not having any pay cable or apps. It kills me not seeing that documentary and the recent Willie Mays one. From what other Flappers have said, they are both excellent. I could probably see both via a pirate site, but my PC, Laptop, and an Apple Ipad are all recent acquisitions . . . Consequently, I am trying to keep them virus free (even purchased a BitDefender annual subscription. lol).

Blade- I think all you need to get NBC Peacock is a internet connection and $4.99 a month.

        Thank you

Great post. Montana has Mays statis to me I also think he’s the greatest of all time. At least in my lifetime. I am really rooting for Purdy to succeed.

oh shoot Paul Silas dead at 79. Came to Oaktown from Arkansas, went to McClymonds HS, close relative to Pointer Sisters.
I remember seeing him live as great bookend compliment at Forward to Connie Hawkins with Suns, as the guy who focused on playing d and rebounding while Hawk soared and scored.

    • djloo27 said, on December 11, 2022 at 1:24 pm

      Sucks.
      Should be in HOF…

    • Macdog said, on December 11, 2022 at 2:13 pm

Damn, what a tough underrated player. I remember with the Sonics he had great battles vs. Wes Unseld in those consecutive Finals. Didn’t know he was drafted by the St. Louis Hawks.

The thing I don’t like about Brady is he complains about every hit and he gets the call

Down by 5 in the SBowl with 1:30 to go, I’m picking Joe for my QB above all others. Not close.
As long as Shanahan isn’t the coach.
    Joe is God.
My second favorite QB for that situation is Snake Stabler. In the ’70s, the Raiders were really my favs. Madden, Snake, the Mad Stork, Sistrunk, Otto, Willie Brown, Upshaw, Shell, Branch, Biletnikoff, Casper, Blanda, etc, etc. The Snake brought back a ton of 4th quarter wins during his hayday. What a team that was, finally got the SB win in ’77 crush of the Vikes. As much as I’ve been a Niner fan for real since Joe came along and Darth Davis went to LA, those ’70s great Raider teams still bring back great football memories. The Heidi game, the Sea of Hands game, the Fumlberooski in SanDiego, the rip-off win by the Steelers in the Immaculate Reception, Ghost to the Post in Baltimore, on and on. And, Bill King made it all great on the radio…

Man, just swinging through to say FUCK YOU TOM BRADY lol. Only thing keeping me from being over the moon is this Deebo injury.

  12. willedav said, on December 11, 2022 at 3:33 pm

Another int as Greenlaw has leaping tip play to himself. 35-0, got to be end of day’s action for Brady.

    • Flavor said, on December 11, 2022 at 3:58 pm

on the way into work this week I was listening to KNBR, Greenlaw was on, he called this. He said “I am gettin’ me a Brady ball on Sunday.” That’s pretty rad.

  13. unca_chuck said, on December 11, 2022 at 4:46 pm

Shanahan outsmarting himself yet again by running his game-changer wide receiver up the middle while Jordan Mason, a guy cranking out 10 yards a pop, sits on the sideline.

I’l]d love to be happy about this game, but that is a fucking needless injury to a star player.

  14. unca_chuck said, on December 11, 2022 at 5:37 pm

Rooted for Montana till he played us. Wish he woulda gotten KC to the Super Bowl.

  15. unca_chuck said, on December 11, 2022 at 5:50 pm

Got to say, since Mostert and Wilson popped off about their former team, I want Miami to eat shit. Here’s 2 undrafted guys who owe their livelihood to the 49ers and they shit-talk out the door?

Fuck ’em. They can suck in Miami as they stagger to the playoffs.

  16. unca_chuck said, on December 11, 2022 at 5:54 pm

Word is, high ankle sprain for Deebo. Very very good news. But likely out 4-6 weeks.

  17. Flavor said, on December 11, 2022 at 6:35 pm

this play looks even crazier when you watch it like this

  18. Flavor said, on December 11, 2022 at 6:42 pm

now THIS is finally a good one of these

  19. mrsprtdude said, on December 11, 2022 at 10:35 pm

Don’t understand the Brady hate. LOVE MONTANA! That said..if Joe was able to get his Niners to the Super bowl FIVE more times and the Niners were 2-3 in those games, then left for KC and won the SB his 1st season there that makes his legacy less? That makes no sense to me.
I also have always liked him as a fan. No other athlete has reworked his contract down, or demanded less money at the height of his powers than this guy. Gave back money to help NE sign vets to help the team win at least 5 different times, and one year after his 4th or 5th SB mvp he was like the 15th highest paid QB. Every other elite superstar measures respect by getting the most money in the sport. Steph. Kobe. Mike Trout. Barry. All of them do it and I don’t blame them, it’s just a point. They all talk about winning being the most important thing. For TB12 it is.

    • unca_chuck said, on December 11, 2022 at 11:31 pm

Young did it. As did plenty of Niners back in the day. He whines way too much for me. Like LeBron’s flopping it’s annoying. They completely rewrote the rule book 25 times for Brady. Great QB, often had little to no skill players around him, and he’s come through in the clutch numerous times.

Still, just rubs me the wrong way. He went to my high school. My son got to know him a little working in Montana last year. Said he was real nice. Shit, he signed the ball that Dre Greenlaw picked off of him. Seems like a nice enough guy for being who he is.

I’d still take Joe with the game on the line.

  20. mrsprtdude said, on December 11, 2022 at 10:36 pm

Re Deebo..after seeing him with his head in his hands I thought ACL for sure. Glad I was wrong!

  21. unca_chuck said, on December 11, 2022 at 11:32 pm

He may not be out of the woods yet, but yeah, an ankle is better than a knee. Short term and long term.

  22. unca_chuck said, on December 11, 2022 at 11:33 pm

No love for Sean Manaea? He had some decent years with the A’s.

Obviously, for all the impossibility to get hitters to come here, pitchers don’t mind.

    • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on December 12, 2022 at 12:26 am

If he’s the *replacement* for Rodon, then, no, not much love…..
