A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Can He Do It Up North?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on December 15, 2022

Really surprised to see the Niners 3.5 favorites tonight. It’s one thing for Big Cock Brock to do what he did in the friendly confines of Santa Clara–it is quite another thing to go up against the 12th man in Seattle. And supposedly he’s banged up, too. At least the weather will be decent.

Seattle can’t stop the run, maybe we just have BCB hand the ball off all game and we steamroll them.

Still, if I was a gambling man I’d probably take those points. Games with these chumps are usually close.

Naah. I think we steamroll them. well, we will cover anyway. Carolina took them out at home, and they just aren’t very good any more. Especially on defense. 28-17 or some shit.

Maybe they were looking ahead to this game, but they can’t stop us and we can stop them.

I thought the ending of shift meant more value being placed on athleticism and range for middle IFs. So for Giants Thairo would fit that mold as 2b better than others, right? he was above average hitter during the season, with HR power and SBs too. Below average as fielder?
Crawford would seem more suited to 3b, where range less important than having good arm.

As the roster sits right now and with Kapler managing. I see Craw platooning at 2B and 3B doing the lefty righty matchup thing. Also, I think Craw has the better range for playing 2B.
I also expect Wilmer and Joc doing a platoon thing at DH.

This is fairly awesome. Looks like being team mom was pretty popular that season.

Kid on the far left top is Mike imperioli (Christopher) of Sopranos fame. I think

One of my favorite actors Unc. This adds some texture to the baseball activities, as it was one of the few joys he had during a “self destructive” period (cocaine, etc) . . . This says it all:

“high point of my low point. I love kids ’cause they’re not full of shit, you know? People would say, ‘What about your creative needs?’ and I’d say, ‘What are you talking about?’ I take a kid who couldn’t believe that he could do something, who walked on the [plate] like a little pussycat, who was afraid, who was embarrassed, and I worked with him and pretty soon he did something he didn’t think he could do. He hits a home run and all of a sudden he’s a little bantam rooster, right before my eyes. If he’s capable and I coach properly, I could change a kid’s life right in front of me. I didn’t have to wait six months for them to put music into it or edit it. That was the great part.”

      RIP James Caan

Loo was right yesterday, Correa’s #4 is Ott’s retired number, so maybe he goes back to #1? Hope he doesn’t go with 14.

    • Macdog said, on December 15, 2022 at 9:04 am

Someone suggested he should wear #17 just to stick it to the Dodgers.

      • Locojuan said, on December 15, 2022 at 9:16 am

        Hah, that would be great.

  5. alleykat69 said, on December 15, 2022 at 9:15 am

Should wear #99 to stick it both to Giants and Dodgers fans..

  6. unca_chuck said, on December 15, 2022 at 9:17 am

Yeah, James Caan is a fave of mine as well. Freebie and the Bean is in incredibly funny movie.

And a part that Caan never played much. A bumbling doof. Him and Alan Arkin are great together.

Oh man, that film is unbelievably good. You just gave me something to do tonight. I just found it for free online . . . Going to watch it tonight.

      • unca_chuck said, on December 15, 2022 at 11:45 am

Hah! Saw that in the theater when I was a kid. The scene when they fly the car through the apartment building off 480 is classic. That offramp is now gone. A casualty of the Loma Prieta earthquake.

Another movie in the same vein I may need to check out again is “What’s Up, Doc?” That one is filmed all over SF and had the classic car chase that fucked up the Alta Park stairway. The scars are still visible.

Man, this was back when stuntmen really earned their pay!

    • blade3colorado said, on December 15, 2022 at 12:30 pm

Yeah, I saw it with my mom and brother when I just had graduated from high school. Funny as hell, but an excellent action film too. Sort of a precursor to 48 Hours with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy.

      • unca_chuck said, on December 15, 2022 at 2:09 pm

Yep. I’m sure it isn’t the first buddy-cop movie but it just might be.

Right now it’s cold up here 28F and probably colder up in Seattle. I just hope Purdy plays. Maybe if we get lead quickly and the weather just might quiet the crowd. If we get to Geno we probably cover the points.

  8. Giant Head said, on December 15, 2022 at 1:03 pm

Well their defense is porous but if Purdy does not play does the handoff to McCaffrey become too obvious???

  9. unca_chuck said, on December 15, 2022 at 1:32 pm

Our game is short passes. Even if it is Johnson, there isn’t anything too difficult. If Purdy has proven anything it is that this offense isn’t super hard to grasp.

Granted, Big Dick Nick had success till he didn’t, and The Beater had some success and a lot of suck, but still and all, I think Johnson can handle the swing passes and dig routes.

Per ‘league sources’ Purdy is gonna start.

I’m not worried about the Niners are the measly 3.5 point spread which should be higher, yeah road game I get it but Seahawks are reeling and giving up 387 yards a game between a shit run defense and pass coverage a full 100 yards more then the Niners top ranked Defense..
I’ll take that spread easy in a 49ers 27-13 win..
Btw the 49ers are now rated #2 in the latest power rankings only behind the Eagles…

  11. Macdog said, on December 15, 2022 at 5:13 pm

    Rodon to Yanks 6Y $162M.

    • snarkk said, on December 15, 2022 at 5:29 pm

Hmm, $27MM / year. What’s the over / under on the contract year his elbow blows? 2.5? 3.5?

  12. Macdog said, on December 15, 2022 at 5:15 pm

    Also, Go Niners!

  13. snarkk said, on December 15, 2022 at 5:22 pm

Local sports radio up here in Seattle area figures the Niners are going to run all over the porous SHawks run D. They seem to think it doesn’t matter who is QB, just hand the ball off 40X and Seattle gets crushed. Nice day today up here, relatively. Some sun. Mid-game weather at “Lumen Field” should be mid-30s and dry; light winds…

    Nice drive, beauty of finish.

what a play that was, pump fake here, pump fake there, fire to Kittle! I was shouting with joy at the tv. My son and his girlfriend are at the game tonight, with excellent seats near the field. I sent him a text, figuring he could see it later. He responded immediately with commensurate joy. He’s in his element. They’re decked out in gear, with a banner over the railing.

Seattle’s daring us to throw by stacking the line. If it wasn’t for penalties, we’d be moving the ball.

I hope Purdy’s injury is responsible for those sub-Billy Kilmer throws. Damn, he looks like Tyler Rogers.

  22. willedav said, on December 15, 2022 at 6:58 pm

Yaha! Good to see Kittle back in groove.

    • Locojuan said, on December 15, 2022 at 6:58 pm

      That was sweet.

Kittle is on fire 🔥 tonight 4 catches 2TD’s 93 yards gained and 25.3 fantasy points as the 49ers are crushing the Seachickens and the points spread 21-3..

  24. unca_chuck said, on December 15, 2022 at 7:20 pm

Refs are keeping Seattle in the game

    • Locojuan said, on December 15, 2022 at 8:18 pm

They sure made it a hell of a lot closer than it shoulda been.

    Purdy fucking good.

  27. mrsprtdude said, on December 15, 2022 at 8:26 pm

    Go Niners!
Bummed about Rodon. He is a gamer, and never took loosing lightly. We have 6 starters now. manea and stripling together make almost as much. We blew it with Gausman and got lucky and got a 2nd chance with Rodon and whiffed letting both go. Our park designed for pitching. Our history we win with pitching. If were worried about injury why sign a guy for 13 years with a known back issue that needs treatment every day! SHIT!

    • djloo27 said, on December 15, 2022 at 8:43 pm

      Completely agree with Mr. SportsDude!

    • unca_chuck said, on December 15, 2022 at 9:05 pm

I don’t think Rodon wanted to be here. Or Farhan really shit the bed. The whole trade deadline nothingburger was curious at best. A disaster at worst.

I mean I have no idea if we tried to extend him before the deadline, but we KNEW he was gonna opt out, so was our plan to try and sign him now and hope for the best? And I guess the opt out year left on his deal shied teams away from giving up anything good at the deadline, but did we say we’d come and get him after the season?

  28. mrsprtdude said, on December 15, 2022 at 9:39 pm

Of course no way to know if he wanted to stay, but the silence form our camp, and zero buzz re SF in the running or giving an offer sure sent a signal we didn’t want him.

  29. alleykat69 said, on December 15, 2022 at 10:39 pm

One Giant who’s probably glad Rodon isn’t coming back is Estrada after he kicked that bat in the dugout and nailed him in the shin..

I still gotta go to at least one of the Yankee Stadium games next year if I can…
