I honestly can’t say I miss baseball much. Maybe when they start for real I’ll get into it. But The Flap must exist. A world without The Flap is an empty void of nothingness. I feel like that’s something The Great TedSpe would say. Hope you guys had a good winter. Missed you guys!

Well here is a Sunday surprise. No idea how to make heads or tails out of this team coming out of spring. .500 would be high water. Let’s see if this Bryce Johnson can claim CF hit leadoff and steal some bases. I’m most excited about this kid Casey Schmitt. He looks like the best position player we have developed in a long bloody time. Would expect he is the everyday 3 bagger before Sept.

    • Flavor said, on March 26, 2023 at 7:43 am

Welcome back GH! I am moderately excited about Schmitt but wish they would just give him the job now. His glove is MLB ready. I’m not desperately against the idea of giving Villar the first shot tho

      • Giant Head said, on March 26, 2023 at 7:48 am

What little I read about the spring I guess he is a little behind on picking up the breaking ball from righties and not overly patient trying to work counts and walks. So I’m good with a little more AAA seasoning. I am more excited about getting out for some warm weather and golf this afternoon.

  3. Flavor said, on March 26, 2023 at 7:45 am

also I changed a setting which might allow those who can’t post to post. We’ll see. I never noticed it before, maybe it will help you maybe not. Give it a try

Also I’m done I think with Yaz. Time to move on from Yaz I think…

    • Winder said, on March 26, 2023 at 8:20 am

Agree, the league knows how to pitch to him and unless he’s adjusted the way he chases balls out of the strike zone he should be pretty much the same as last year. Also there was an article in the Athletic this morning that rated starting pitchers. Webb was the only Giant to make the list. Of course that’s just some writers opinion.

    • unca_chuck said, on March 26, 2023 at 9:08 am

Haniger, Gonzalez, and Slater are hurt so expect Yaz up the wazoo.

  5. James said, on March 26, 2023 at 9:19 am

New rules, new players, was actually hoping Crawford‘s knee needed a little extra rest to start the season ….

  6. Carstie Clausen said, on March 26, 2023 at 9:42 am

Got lost in the WordPress merry-go-round. So moderately extensive comment got lost in hyperspace. But good to have the Flap back. Thanks a million, Flav. Let’s see if this one gets posted before more.

    • Carstie Clausen said, on March 26, 2023 at 10:01 am

WP merry-go-round screwed the pooch on my second and third postings.

  7. Carstie Clausen said, on March 26, 2023 at 9:59 am

Say hey! Season looms and no reason for dooms. James, perhaps those injuries will give some of the newbies like Sabol and Johnson an opportunity to shine. Yaz is toast here. Ship him to the RedSox as a nostalgia trip for that bunch of flounders. Ditto Ramos. Didn’t show much this spring. Might get low-level prospects for both of them.

Staff is loaded for bear. Seven capable of starting. When have the Giants had such a luxury? Three guys as possibles for set-up duties and Doval looking to achieve genuine veteran status, as his self-confidence may override his ego as well as those occasional jitters.

As of the end of Free Agent frenzy, my prediction in the W-L column was and remains at 87-75. No Grade C actors in the probable lineup, should match out the lack of a superstar. Once both Haniger and Conforto are fully good to go and with Johnson potentially starting in CF, along with Late Night finally finding his stick; the OF should be a strength.

Bart has shown more than last go-round, but remains somewhat in doubt. Three capable catchers, including an oft-injured vet makes for a lot of decision making by the deciders. Infield looks pretty stout, with up and comers lurking into the season.

Much kudos to Flav for these resurrection moments getting back chattering away on the Flap. Sure missed you guys. Lots to learn from this bunch. Go Giants!!!

What a great Sunday surprise !
    Welcome Back ! …

    I’m absolutely shocked.
I really thought Flavor was ecstatic to be free…

Z told Baggs Schmitt could be up really soon, and appears they are really happy with way he plays SS. That would mean Estrada could concentrate on just playing 2b, good thing. Z also expects team to hit lot of HRs ala 2021, so we’ll see.
If Cobb is hurt, wonder who takes mound to start that second game with Flap in attendance?

  11. alleykat69 said, on March 26, 2023 at 12:36 pm

Nice lead in to the Flap return with Rocky!
So all Flap knuckleheads can reunite again in the madness of SF Giants Baseball ⚾️
    Thanks Craig!!

  12. unca_chuck said, on March 26, 2023 at 1:37 pm

I’m actually glad about the pitch clock. Fuck these guys standing around twiddling with all their fucking gear or doing laps around the mound between pitches.

San Diego St a Final 4 team!! 57-56 in another crazy March Madness game! Party on San Dawg!!!
And yes I have SDST and possibly Texas moving on as well in my bracket !!💪🍻🏀🎉

Loo– spending time on creating threads for the Flap was never the issue. Those get churned out quick and over the last few years I’m sure they were getting churned out at lightning speed! I just got tired of doing it. But 3 months off did wonders for me and I’m excited to have this be a daily part of my life again. After the season I might shut it down again for the Winter. We’ll see.

  15. Flavor said, on March 26, 2023 at 2:26 pm

I talked to San Dawg earlier today, he’s in LA visiting his kids and they watched the SD State game together. He’s got to be over the moon right now.
He and I are going to the game on April 8th. If any of you guys are going it would be great to hook up for a pre-game beer(s)

What a nice surprise to wake up to on this Monday morning, the return of the Flap. Glad you’re a bit recharged, Craig. Have missed the Flap and its resident knuckleheads.

    • Flavor said, on March 26, 2023 at 7:38 pm

how is your ball sack, dude.

Also good to see GPII back in action in GS uniform, entering game end of first quarter. Pops in the house too.

    • Flavor said, on March 26, 2023 at 7:39 pm

i can’t get over the people who are giving the Dubs shit for the Wiseman trade. He was never going to play here. You could argue it was a bad pick at the time but Wiseman would still be in the G league if he hadn’t been traded. In Detroit he can run around out there all game long, they don’t give a shit

  18. Locojuan said, on March 26, 2023 at 8:01 pm

Alright, way to fire the Flap back up, Flav.

Buy the ticket, take the ride, ayeeee!
