Not Quite Reg Seas Read
People will say, “it’s spring training, it doesn’t count.” But when you give up 9 earned runs in your final start before it does start to count that isn’t gonna make anyone feel good. Stripling, like Manaea, is just another guy. Don’t call me a Doomer, I just want everyone prepared for what’s going to happen to the Giants this year. Clubber Lang said it best…..
Could get ugly from the start at the Yankees and White Sox…
I’m expecting a lot of production from Thairo, J.D. and the new OFs.
Don’t know what to make of Bart but at least last year he figured out
how to clear the warning track pretty frequently.
Wonder if the new shift rules will help anyone in particular…
i think the shift rule is gonna help us. I fully expect to see better defensive plays/efforts that will be entertaining for the fans
Stix still fightin the good fight.

Craig: For some reason the non-human system at W.P. does not like my new password and keeps juggling when I try to enter. No way can I remember the old one any more, Will try some more later in the day as there’s a trip looming in a couple hours. -carstie
He was able to post twice the other day, what changed?
Stix’s tech problems are his own. I don’t even understand them if I’m being honest.
That was some sloppy ball last night. I think Jelly Hjelle and Junis are ready to take over if Stripling and/or Manaea faulter. If they don’t do the option shuffle with Villar, he’ll add some much needed pop. I’m still not comfortable with Wade jr at 1B so I’m glad we have Davis to back him up.
My guy Carter Williams had an OK 9 game spring, I still think he could be a Gregor Blanco kinda OFer. Hopefully he gets assigned to Richmond so I can do a road trip and see him play.
Even with the balanced schedule I’m going with 85 wins, 4 better than last year.
If I falter, Lord who cares?
Oops.
One of the most misleading or misworded baseball trivia questions is “Can you name the 3 catchers on the 1961 Yankees who each hit over 20 HRS?”
As if they hit them all as catchers.
Berra caught 15 games, Blanchard 48, and Howard 115…
Howard 111…
Save that one for my Yanks buddies on Saturday.
Hope they’re old…
One thing I noticed with LHs up was SS only couple feet to left of (and behind) 2b, perfectly able to field groundball up the middle. Lack of shift guy in short RF may help some guys, but hitting ball on ground isn’t going to help the OB or BA much imo. Timely singles can help team score more runs sure, but 2 extra singles a month isn’t going to turn Yaz back into 202o form either.
ST numbers mostly irrelevant, and Stripling should be OK middle of rotation guy, like most other SPs beside Webb. And Webb is dang good.
I think it was Boston that used 2 OFers and a rover in short RF in ST. Wonder if they use that in the reg season.
Friend of mine turned me on to this author, Ms. Deborah Blum, who wrote a book called “The Poisoners Handbook”, Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York.
She also has written book about chemistry prof who worked in Dept Of Ag (newly created) in 1880s, who tackled impurities in food milk coffee candy cough syrups etc. What he found is just extraordinary, common household products laced with arsenic and other poisons, and often very little actual real of the products they were sold under. full complicity of everyone in food industry, inspectors and Feds included
Before his Dippity-Do addiction…
^and before I hit the arrow…
And photo day 2009 aside, he didn’t make his Giant debut till 2011…
Wow Baggs talked to Greg Johnson, interview in Athletic. Z option for next season will be picked up, and Kap comes with him as package deal. Lot to digest but that’s short part. Also looking forward to extension with Webb, and was fully signed on with $350 mi offer for Correa.
I guess they’re not allowed to discuss Ohtani who they should be major players for and of course get outbid…
Yep. Ohtani would be the one to finally land.
Saw a column by an SFGate writer, don’t know his name and can’t find it now, musing about how just days before Opening Day the game is not sold out (maybe it is by now?)… and how for many years there was no question OD would be sold out. His verdict was a) roster churn, as “the fans” just can’t get excited about a constantly changing lineup, etc., and b) no big names to get excited about. So, lack of excitement seemed to be his main thing. He does allude to how winning will up the excitement level, a la 2021, so I guess we’ll just have to see this year, but he basically was saying fans don’t buy Baer’s hype anymore…
I’m down with both a & b. I am always excited on opening day and just hopeful that we play some good ball.
Always a smokescreen sadly for a the FO to land a Superstar slugger and especially a 2way player P/DH/OF like Ohtani.Automatically becomes the #1 pitcher along with Webb a solid 1B , with the rest of the starters just becoming #5 has beens..
But he will end up in LA are NY are even SD cause are ballpark isn’t enticing enough to play at..
Ohtani is pretty adamant about remaining on the west coast. If there is one guy to go after all the way, it’s him.
Hold San Dawg and his mom in your thoughts tonight. She’s 98 and he and his sibs have come up to be with her. Could be the end.
Oh, sorry to hear. That’s a tough one. Thoughts are with you, Dawg… .
ay Draymond Green needs to sit down and stfu. Props to Kerr for subbing Kuminga in for him.
I’m so tired of his shit.
Yeah, but without him, we suck. Dubs lose if he gets thrown out.
Banned from Twatter again. Wanted to reach out to San Dawg. Sorry to hear about what he’s going through.
Did Stix get his issues fixed?
