A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Flap Nation Invades The Bronx

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 2, 2023

WOW! That was a fun game yesterday. Obviously the win was brought to you by Loo, James and MacDog. I didn’t even know they were getting together for the game.

I honestly believe that if we sent 3 Flappers to every game we’d go undefeated.

    to me

Flav: Beyond my comprehension. Every time I access the flap, I’m confronted with a large-scale printout of your opening statement and cannot access the comments. Couple days ago I spent a couple hours trying to rearrange things with WordPress and all. Even removed some “frequently visited” and other stuff…but so far as recall goes did not try something on the site. Gremlins? Hauntings? Innards of computers are like learning the Cyrillic alphabet for me. Even when contacting Google help, they still keep things something other than perfectly clear. Followed Blade’s suggestions and seemed to make a bit of progress and then…kablooie.

Had this feeling that the Giants would do a lot better against their #2…and they did. Base hits, stolen bases, a few walks and a couple of doubles…ditto dingers. Doval probably came close to causing heart-failures for a few fans with his jitterbugging the closer routing…he’s not adjusting well to pitcher timing rules. Yessir, Yessir, three bags full…and then he makes the perfect pitch to Stanton. That nasty rookie shortstop for NY began that trouble in the 9th…looks like they developed another good one there.

But overall, with decent pitching…like Brebbia of all people provided…their lineup is a bit spotty. Without Judge it would be blah.

Gotta hand it to Crawdaddy, even stealing second when everyone thought he was close to wheelchairville. He did some timely hitting too. Even Yaz recovered his MaTazz today. Will wonders never cease? Giants needed this game and needed it bad. Channeling Dianna Ross and R E S P E C T.

This team could be a tough play, even for the more loaded teams this season. If the staff can do what I think they may, that 87-75 record I projected at the tail of Free-Agent season could just possibly come to pass. Interesting that they felt the wiser course was to bring up Johnson. One Earnie in 3.2 vs the YankMes was not a bad outing for Cobb. He should be pretty tough against low-end and mediocre teams. Let’s see what they can do tomorrow. If they pull it off tomorrow, there will be a lot of head-scratching going on amongst the media mavens. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch. Will be interesting to see what N.Y. based prognosticators will have to say about today’s contest.

    Stix.

We should have gotten a photo of the closing prayer circle and embrace after the final out. A fantastic day with Loo and Mac and his friends.

Great photos! Great job, Flappers at Yankee Stadium!

  4. zumiee said, on April 2, 2023 at 7:21 am

Bochy starts off 2-0, as the Rangers pummel the Phils. That’s nice for Boch to get off to a good start.

  5. Flavor said, on April 2, 2023 at 7:30 am

Were you guys sitting together? Also, did Loo make it to the end? I’m always worried he’s gonna get escorted out before the game ends 🙂

    • James said, on April 2, 2023 at 8:40 am

We bought SRO tix (the Pinstripe Pass) and sat together at bar stools and counter on the lower level behind the LF corner section. Not sure if the tickets permitted us to take up spots there, but no one asked.

it’s amazing what a single W will do to my mood. Let’s smoke these fuckers today. Smoke em like an old lady smoked a cigarillo in the 70s…..

  7. willedav said, on April 2, 2023 at 7:43 am

nice to see at least some Giants fans off the ledge. Only 160 more to go, expect more torture.
Um, Diana Ross??? Otis Redding and Aretha would like a word.
Great game great pics. Haven’t been back to Apple since fall of 2010 when Giants were chasing down wild card and WTC was being rebuilt as our mgmt group walked past on way to catch ferry that took us to Ellis Isle and Statue of Liberty and back. Glad Giants fans safe and sound and able to experience the City and W there.

Great photos, Y’all had to be chewing your nails down to your knuckles in the 9th.

    • James said, on April 2, 2023 at 8:45 am

During that whole sequence, I really noticed for the first time just how little time there is between pitches .

      • willedav said, on April 2, 2023 at 8:58 am

Blogger in Athletic mentioned rain was coming down pretty good by then when Doval was trying to close it out. True?

      • djloo27 said, on April 2, 2023 at 9:28 am

We were under a thing so I can’t be too sure.
You know how rain can look heavier than it really is under the lights.
The wind was kicking up, too.
James was having a little Candlestick flashback seeing the papers
and stuff blowing around the outfield.

      • willedav said, on April 2, 2023 at 10:16 am

Thanks Loo. So awesome you and the guys were there. Maybe not Gillaspie like, but still hella W.

    • Macdog said, on April 2, 2023 at 10:02 am

      I could barely watch.

    OMG!
    HI all,

I just got back from a weeks vacation (St John USVI. I recommend it!)
I fired up the computer and had a spark of hope, clicked the link. The Flap is back!
Happy you are giving it another go Craig!!

Watched the game on the plane. I couldn’t pace around so sitting there watching Doval struggle was torture! My 1st complaint of the year is the Bart thing. LAME they are not giving 1st crack at the starting job. Gary Sanchez? I’m ok with a back up plan but stats are the same in every offensive and defensive measure for an old guy who no mlb team wants vs a #2 pick? He is only 26 and was much better in 2nd half, a sign he is figuring things out

    • willedav said, on April 2, 2023 at 9:27 am

mm Baggs talked about Bart/Sanchez situation in Athletic, interesting. Turns out SF has been after Sanchez for months; he wanted ML deal which no one gave him so he finally settled for minors deal with SF but with opt out of May 1. Giants envision getting a middle order HR power bat from Bart and/or Sanchez. Sounds like they are disappointed Bart isn’t a better hitter yet. idk, Sanchez doesn’t seem like middle order bat you want in there for 100 games 300+ ABs either. Sanchez will be in Sac with our old buddy WAR. Bailey still in mix too, at AA I guess.
Perez hasn’t played much due to health last 2 seasons either and Bart back tightness unfortunate. Sounds like by May 1 heads will roll.

Good to see so many of the Usual Suspects back here.

  10. mrsprtdude said, on April 2, 2023 at 9:10 am

PS..for any that missed it on Fox telecast..SF had ZERO hits in 2022 on 3-0 counts, and yesterday had TWO! Both for extra bases! Lets get the series win!. Just read Bart still scratched with back issues. Grr Go Sabol!

  11. unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2023 at 9:42 am

Bart and Trey Lance should go on the cave retreat that Aaron Rodgers did. The Bart situation is ludicrous. Start him, play him, and see where you are. It ain;t rocket science.

  12. unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2023 at 9:52 am

Really bummed I’m not getting baseball games on streameast.

    • Flavor said, on April 2, 2023 at 10:42 am

yeah, wtf? Just says no games available. But NBA is fine. I don’t get it

      • unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2023 at 10:54 am

MLB got wise I guess. Streameast changes their address all the time to try and stay ahead of the powers that be, but we will see.

  13. unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2023 at 10:04 am

    Bart to IL.

    • willedav said, on April 2, 2023 at 10:20 am

Hjelle reinstated, so back to 13/13. Beaty and Bryce J still here for now.

  14. willedav said, on April 2, 2023 at 10:17 am

Sabol catching, J D in lineup. Thairo batting 9th for some reason.

  15. unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2023 at 10:59 am

MLB.com never seems to have the Giants as free game of the day.

  16. unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:03 am

    25 pitches?

  17. willedav said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:13 am

Great line from Baggs:”…on a night when a Yastrzemski got a hit in a Yankee Stadium for the first time in 40 years…”

  18. Locojuan said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:24 am

That guy Judge sure can hit em out.

    • Locojuan said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:25 am

Hmm, so can that Stanton dude.

  19. unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:26 am

    Oh well.

  20. alleykat69 said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:34 am

Bad pitches for sure by Stripling and Stanton’s rocket 🚀 still hasn’t landed in Center..
Sabol needs a lot of work behind the plate imo , he needs to keep his mitt calm with his target instead of all over the place as the pitcher is delivering the ball..
Btw awesome pictures of the 3 Flap Amigos from yesterday’s game well done!!

  21. snarkk said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:35 am

I wonder what the Giants W-L record is with a Flappers group in attendance? I think it might be pretty good.
Stripling ain’t fooling anybody much the last two starts…

  22. Flavor said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:39 am

    Stripling sucks.

  23. snarkk said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:39 am

Uh, maybe somebody should advise Stripling he’s not throwing batting practice?
Outside of Webb, I’m not seeing why the Giants pitching has been so hyped in the pre-season…

  24. Macdog said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:40 am

    Goddamn, Stripling has Nothing.

  25. alleykat69 said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:44 am

Stripling does suck but what do u expect when you only have Webb and 4 number 5 pitchers..

    • xoot said, on April 2, 2023 at 12:35 pm

The Four Fives. Webb has moved on to a stellar solo career.

  26. willedav said, on April 2, 2023 at 11:55 am

At least Giants put ball in the air couple times. Yanks did it few times and left the yard.

    • Macdog said, on April 2, 2023 at 12:18 pm

Yanks hit bombs. Giants get bunt singles and (barely) infield hits.

  27. alleykat69 said, on April 2, 2023 at 12:02 pm

Hjelle should be a Starting Pitcher on this staff.Would rather go young than retreads..

  28. alleykat69 said, on April 2, 2023 at 12:17 pm

That’s was a real nice FUCK Yell by Joc!
And why not after another pathetic inning they should have cashed in on.

    • Macdog said, on April 2, 2023 at 12:19 pm

The bogus strike 3 on Davis didn’t help.

  29. xoot said, on April 2, 2023 at 12:32 pm

I suspect Manea will be as piss poor as Stripling. Slusser notes the Giants have SO more than 40 times in NY, with more to come no doubt.

  30. Macdog said, on April 2, 2023 at 12:44 pm

    Hjelle-ish inning.

  31. xoot said, on April 2, 2023 at 12:57 pm

Our best backup SS and best defensive 3B is staying sharp.

  32. Winder said, on April 2, 2023 at 1:20 pm

Our pitching was the only thing that was gonna save us this year.

  33. Macdog said, on April 2, 2023 at 2:58 pm

Bringing new meaning to “We Score, We Win” this opening series.

  34. zumiee said, on April 2, 2023 at 8:24 pm

    Bochy, 3-0.

  35. zumiee said, on April 2, 2023 at 9:08 pm

The Giants leave NY a 1/2 game out of first place.
