Salad Day 1 In The Books
Super irritating home opener. Small sample size but this team is showing all the hallmarks of inconsistency which is also a hallmark of a .500 team.
Golf was wild yesterday. It rained nearly the entire time, we were soaked by the end of the round. We had no one behind us and as far as I can tell we were the only players to finish the course, I never saw anyone on the back 9. Diggity went down on hole 1 in the mud and that’s why he looks like he just emerged from the jungles of Nam.

He found the hat last week at a restaurant. 1924 is the year his mom was born. For that reason please excuse the fact that he’s wearing A’s colors. 🙂
I’ll try to tweet out pics to and during the game today so if you want to see any of that you can find me on twitter at @1flapdown77
Singer is a good young pitcher, Manaea better bring whatever qualifies as an A-game with him to the mound today.
Remind me where you at Dawg and played. My 15 year old was crushing it yesterday and probably has not played since last summer. Now given he was hitting from reds, he outdrove us a bunch. We turned the back 9 into me and the 17 year old against the 15 year old and the oldest who is 23 in a scramble.
We were up a hole going into a par 3 #16. We were all off the green, mine catching a tree top and dropping way short of the green and we lose the hole. I shank the tee shot on #17 (and #18 as well) and my teamie 17 year old goes out of bounds and we now are down a hole with #18 to go. My kid hitting from whites and saves us with a solid drive on a par 5 but the 15 year old out drives us all. But I nail my two wood hybrid to about 40 yards from the hole with a hazard creek running alongside the green. Our opponent kids lay up and off the green a couple feet on their third shot and I have a nice chip just rolls off the green by a couple inches. The enemy kids three putt and fortunately I sink out second putt for the push thankfully! But salad days indeed and we pushed the bowling to today. Enjoy the new “Stick” today!
Rahm closing in on Koepka this morning is making this weekend quite interesting. Of course he just missed a par putt to lose a stroke as I typed this. In a pool I have Cam Young Morikawa and Jason Day in the hunt for points. McIlroy always shits the bed when Inseem to pick him on these major pools…
Great pic! Enjoy game guys.
@PIA: Giants still high on Bailey. Saw interview with Kyle Haines in Athletic, and they feel he is excellent defensively and improved as a switch hitter. He has always been better from left side but they worked with him on some things in winter from right side and look for improvement. He’s in Richmond AA ball iirc.
Tiger looks miserable walking off 18. Gotta think deep down he doesn’t want to make the cut, he looks spent.
He made the cut!
Ruf signing a minor league deal with SF
that makes me happy
Looks like a great course to lose a lot of balls.
So McCutcheon is back with the Pirates, and they have Reynolds, who they got in the trade from the Giants for Cutch. The two combined for five hits yesterday.
Not that Reynolds will be a Pirate forever. They will likely trade him in the next couple of years before they have to pay him a big free agent salary.
No NBA playoffs in Texas for the first time in 40 years. Spurs, Mavs, and Rockets.
Just put a few videos up on Twitter if anyone cares. Had to drive to game cause Caltrain is down from Menlo park to Belmont. I haven’t driven to a game in years
60 day DL for Catcher Roberto Perez rotator strain cuff (just call it a season) Giants recall C Austin Wynns for the much needed 2nd Catcher for now..
Laskey’s bio says he’s 6’3. I’m at least 4 inches taller than him maybe 5
And since I lost that half inch to the broken back I’m checking in at 6’5 even these days
We are all shrinking.
Great photo of SD with the deer in the background.
Flav, great pix and vids! And nice touch drinking a Foster’s at your solo tailgate. Fuckin’ $40 to park, no wonder attendance is down. I park for half that at Phillies games and much closer to the ballpark. Bring home a W guys, losing 2 straight to KC would not be ideal.
Spot hero for parking is pretty good. I got to park last year for $20.00 on Townsend. Like the ticket prices, though, it is dynamic pricing. I’m sure for the Dodgers, prices will go up.
As KnK said, Bart to play tonight in Sac.
Casey Schmitt so far 10-30 with 5 doubles (0 BBs 8 Ks), playing SS. Will Wilson at 3b homered vs. Padres AAA team.
Sanchez I don’t think has reported to minor league team yet, working out at complex in AZ I guess.
Just read that Alden Smith is gonna spend the next 12 months in jail( which means he’ll get out in 6/7). If any normal person pulled the crap that he has over the years they would be looking at some very long years. Money just went to his head.
wow great inning. 3 Flap guys rule (Mr. Sarge is there too I believe) off to hella start.
A genuine actual rally!
Nice second time through the LU. Sounds must’ve been great down there close to home plate. Manea’s looking ok. Well, if he can maintain it, great addition. He’s always been a good guy.
As Mac said above, Flavor’s twitter stuff from today is great. Just posted nice shot of SanDog in 2 flap headgear, and as in golf pic San Diego State jacket. Very cool!
Stripling, otoh.
Once again Sal is 9 years late…
My thought exactly.
Fuck Stripling. Jesus.
I think you can pull him, now, Kappy.
Fuuuuuuuck.
Russ Stripling-of-my-spot-on-the-team.
Aaaaand here comes Brebbia!!!
Even a season is an arbitrary measure of time. That pitch was way below the zone. Some random shit mixed in with a certain level of skill.
Stripling has pitched in 2 games this year (6 IP total iirc) and he has given up 5 HRs. That is what my kids, when they were very young, would’ve called some random shit.
That makes 17 HRs in his last 140 innings.
Ha! Good one. Now my kids would be right, again.
Kuiper says last year Giants would have 2 outs, nobody on instead of 1st and 2nd, nobody out…
WTF did Crapler use Stripling when u have regular BP guys available?
Jesus That was bad managing!!
Stripling is gone . . .
He’s a guy that should be able to get outs. Howe do you blame the manager for the pitcher sucking?
Here we go blowing opportunities.
Pffffffffffft.
Gonna blow this one . . .
What a giveaway.
This loss is on Kappy he’s back not knowing how to use his BP!!
Fuck Stripling he sucks and yet Kappy still let him pitch in till he blows up!!
Manea got screwed out of a great performance!!
It doesn’t get much worse than that. And yeah, Sucking Stripling needs to go.
How a bad team loses a game. Utterly awful.
Bad teams find creative ways to lose.
Terrible way to start a homestand. I guess we will find out what this team is made of because if a game like this doesn’t get some soul-searching then we are probably doomed.
For those of you in Nor. Cal., I think the River Cats are on TV tonight at 6:30. Check your local listings. In my area, it’s on Channel 31 Sacramento.
Screwing up what should’ve been a game winning rally was worse to me than blowing the lead…
yeah. Those 3 k’s were incredible to watch. They were swing and misses that weren’t coming within a country fucking mile of the bats either.
Agree Loo,
Bases loaded no outs bottom of the 8th and then 3 straight strikeouts is ridiculous as the momentum completely shifted to the Royals dugout..
Kapler is a goddamn certifiable moron. He wants to get that loser some work. Ok, it’s 5-1 I don’t hate that idea. But he gives up the bomb in the 7th. That’s enough. No more work. This is not the time to hope he’s going to find whatever shitty pitches he thinks he has. And then with a completely rested bullpen he brings his dumbass out for the 8th!!!! What. The. Fuck. This guy is not a fucking reliever. Kapler, man, this loss is on him.
D-Backs take a 12-6 lead over the Dodgers. I guess they got tired of being the Dodgers’ doormat every year.
River Cats won 12-4. Bart got a couple of hits.
At least do some damage.
