I just barely finished typing “Ya gotta just plunk Muncy, right?” when he hit another one.
    Unfucking believable.

The inability of Giants starting rotation to go more than 4-5 innings (absent rare 6 inning “gem” from Webb or DeSclafani) results in Kapler using 3 or 4 relievers every game. Law of averages says at least one reliever will implode each game. Last night was Taylor Rogers’ turn with his 18.90 ERA and inability to throw a strike. Vs Royals past weekend 4 run lead late was coughed up by Stripling and his 10.00+ ERA. Giants have scored 58 runs in 12 games yet stuck with 5-7 record. Granted run total is misleading as Giants totaled 31 runs in Chisox series alone. Still plating 5 runs per game should put you on positive side of .500 W/L ledger. Pitching ongoing impediment.

The new definition of a quality start is 4 innings/2 runs.
Our idiot manager is signed through 2024…

That’s why I don’t get bullpen games. You throw 6-7 guys out there 1-2 gotta implode right?

While trying to learn something about Pete Putila, the GM Zaidi hired this winter, i landed on a wiki site listing Giants execs over the years. Someone edited it so that the first sentence reads: “The owner of the San Francisco Giants is Max Muncy.[1][2][3]”

Yeah, losing 3 of the first 4 series isn’t a good look. Thought the pitching had been settled pretty well till I saw the evil twin walk 4 guys in a row. And fucking Stripling.

  5. Winder said, on April 13, 2023 at 8:47 am

If a starting pitcher can’t make it past 6 innings then they are just long relievers. Webb is really concerning.

I can’t complain because I don’t spend money going to games and rarely buy merchandise. But as a fan I am disappointed.

Your time and attention and emotional commitment is worth a lot. Everybody on here has invested years of that into this particular brand of sports Laundry. I’m at 57 years in and counting, from the transistor radio to digital highlights…

      • djloo27 said, on April 13, 2023 at 10:01 am

        Damn right, Snarkk.
That’s why I asked Neukom to personally affix the 2010 championship pin on my jacket
at Finnerty’s on trophy day in NY. He was happy to do it…

      • snarkk said, on April 13, 2023 at 10:17 am

Awesome, sounds like a great moment.
Neukom got shafted by the Giants, when he should have gotten a medal…

      • Winder said, on April 13, 2023 at 12:54 pm

snarkk- that is true. The Giants have broken my heart more times than I can count. I was a transistor kid also I used to take it to school so I could listen to the game walking home. IIRC there were way more day games then.

Sure you can! It’s what being a fan is all about. We’ve all paid our dues at one point or another.

That’s quite an unexpected twist in that Bob Lee murder.

Mr. Dean has a point–it shouldn’t have taken 6 guys to shut out the Dogs for 9 innings game before. Last night everyone that got on the mound sucked.

  11. unca_chuck said, on April 13, 2023 at 10:34 am

Kapler is just content to throw every pitcher into every game every night. Whether they are pitching well or not. Didn’t like him pulling Wood in the 4th Or Manaea after 6 with only 76 pitches thrown. Like Shanahan does sometimes, he outsmarts himself with these decisions.

  12. unca_chuck said, on April 13, 2023 at 10:44 am

Muncy is just like Goldschmidt back in the day. How many goddamn times will you let the same guy beat you?

    • alleykat69 said, on April 13, 2023 at 11:13 am

Except Goldschmidt only killed Timmy everytime. Muncy kills any Giants reliever that comes in..

Krapler sitting on his ass looking at his stupid iPad ( for what a secret answer to pop up?)while his reliever Taylor Rodgers keeps walking guys to eventually even walking in a run after chucking over 30 pitches, is the asinine stuff about him that never goes away…

such a great catch and call by Kuip

  14. Locojuan said, on April 13, 2023 at 11:37 am

Time to get rid of our “scouting” report on Muncy and copy Arizona’s. So far this year he is 2-26 against the Dbacks, with 0 HRs, 12 Ks, 5 BBs and 2 RBIs.
In our 3 games, he went 5-9, with 4 HRs, 2 Ks, 1 BB and 11 RBIs. I’m not an expert, but I’d sure as hell be trying a different approach on the dude.

Good point John. Me? I would walk the SOB every time, as we don’t seem to know how to pitch to him, no matter which pitcher we put in against him.

In fact, I still remember early in the 1998 season, when Buck Showalter, Snakes manager at the time, walked Barry Bonds with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning. Trailing by two runs, Bonds stepped to the plate and was intentionally walked, with Arizona electing to eat a run instead of potentially allowing BB to end the game with a grand salami. I fucking hated that decision of course, as the Giants were my team, but Buck made the right call . . . Because it ended up working out for the Diamondbacks, as the two-out intentional walk was followed up by a lineout from Mayne to end the game with an 8-7 win for the Snakes.

      • Locojuan said, on April 13, 2023 at 3:20 pm

Yep, my guess is if you throw Muncy breaking balls away. you will either walk him or he hits a little dink.

  15. snarkk said, on April 13, 2023 at 12:05 pm

Giants going 5-18 against LA in their last 23 games.
    “Nothing Like It ! “…

    • Winder said, on April 13, 2023 at 1:05 pm

That kind of says our pitchers don’t have a full arsenal or pitches. I think most our pitchers really only have one or two good pitches and that is what the Dogs and the rest of the league just sit on.

  16. unca_chuck said, on April 13, 2023 at 12:16 pm

Nothing (to) like (about) it . . .

  17. unca_chuck said, on April 13, 2023 at 2:35 pm

Season is 2 weeks old and we’re on our 3rd day off. Odd.

Hey DJ, thanks for posting that game. Cool beans.

Crazy to see the Mets were 35-46 at the time and ended up playing in the World Series.

    • djloo27 said, on April 13, 2023 at 4:26 pm

      There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you…

Willie Mays the man,the myth, the legend Just should never be allowed to wear a Mets uniform?
Shit he was a NY Giant if anything, nothing to do with the name Mets is that a logistical thing over the Yankees? Charlie Williams for Willie Mays who could ever imagine that trade..

    • djloo27 said, on April 13, 2023 at 7:40 pm

And the Mets retired his number last season which was not popular with a lot of fans…

      • unca_chuck said, on April 13, 2023 at 8:10 pm

        1.5 seasons gets a retirement? Did the 49ers retire 32? Wellllllllllll. .. .
