A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Good Riddance, Mexico

That place is stupid.

And you can bet your bottom dollar there’s gonna be a hangover today in Houston as they struggle to adjust to the dramatic climate change.

If our bullpen is going to continue to implode we are going to need a better offense.
Love what we’ve seen from Haniger so far…….

They get Bart back and lose Yaz, hopefully not for too long.
Hope Manfred saw that hit that bounced over Grisham’s head in CF. what was that goofy little ball called that did that, on like first or second bounce?

Yeah no play was predictable when they were playing on crazy turf and using a Wham-O Superball to boot..

Hard to pay much attention to the no-name Giants when Steph is busy generating all-time playoff performances, and next up for probably 6 or 7 games is another Steph vs. LBJ match-up…

Saw enough of the Giants game to watch us get, and squander, a lead. sos…

Dubs did in the 3rd quarter what Ive been preaching since they got run off the court in game 1 And that’s to attack the basket to get to the line. Of course they missed a ton ofFTs, but it did the job of slowing down Sacto and got us a nice cushion of a lead going into the 4h quarter.

I think we can wear down the Lakers. They are bigger but slower. Reaves has been a surprise guy for them. But BronBron will have a couple let-down games, and AD will get hurt.

I actually think if Kerr coached it, we are a deeper team than the Fakers. I had been preaching all series that he had to play GP2 way more and he got in early yday and even getting a third foul early second, I think he had an impact. Payton may not be as needed in the Faker series but agree Dubs can wear them down. How awesome was Looney??? Wiggins I expect will be more impactful in this series.

Craw and Yaz to 10-day IL.
Craw due to slight calf strain, and Yaz a Grade 1 hammy strain.
Maybe Craw is out also due to .169 BA, though with 4 dingers.
I’d be fine with Schmitt up, though he’s cooled off at AAA since ST.
Craw looks potentially done at 36…

Was so glad to see a walkway second half for the Dubs…needed that. Don’t like after one rest day before and after Game 6 they get only one day off before the hated Fakers. Dubs in 7!!! Glad to get out of mile high and half Mexico City.

Cal Stevenson OF is called up so exciting! Does anyone know him are even care?
Schmitt to backup Estrada would of been a better choice..

    • unca_chuck said, on May 1, 2023 at 5:27 pm

Schmitt needs to start in front of Crawfish.

I expect more of Kuminga, Lamb, and JaMychal Green in this series just to slam into BronBron and AD for 18 minutes a game.

    • Flavor said, on May 1, 2023 at 5:54 pm

      i like it.

    • willedav said, on May 1, 2023 at 6:23 pm

Bron plays more off ball than ever. Guys they added like Vanderbilt and Hachimura as forwards have helped, as has Reaves. AD more of finesse guy jump shooter these days too. Think Wiggins will be more involved in the offense. Moody seems to be catching on to things and knocks down 3 whenever he is in there. DLo can be had at D end and Lakers don’t play at same pace as Sac.
But, remember Bron had game here where he hit like 8 3s and Lakers won 3 of 4 vs. GS. Playing much better after dumping off Westbrick .

HR #47 for Giants tied for NL lead with Dogs, who have played 2 more games.

    • Flavor said, on May 1, 2023 at 6:36 pm

subtract all the bombs they hit in Mexico City and it’s not as pretty as you’re painting it. 7th 8th somewhere in there. We don’t score enough runs to make up for our shitty bullpen.

      • willedav said, on May 1, 2023 at 6:50 pm

um they’ve been hitting HRs all month. Week or two ago I posted they were second in league. Giants are also 5-6 NL for runs per game. Preventing HRs and runs scored overall not near as good.

      • Flavor said, on May 1, 2023 at 7:12 pm

i know what they’ve been doing. It’s not fucking enough. You can jizz on the Mexico City bombs if you like but most normal assessments of that place wouldn’t count it and say the team is legitimately in first place with home runs. And they are 15th in the league in runs scored and that’s factoring in the bullshit Mexico City nonsense they are just a few runs away from bottom third in the league. Be better Willie nobody like a housewife homer.

      • willedav said, on May 1, 2023 at 9:35 pm

Dude, I said they hit HRs and they did before they got to Mexico. They hit couple more tonite, right? I hated the Mexico games despite all the runs scored in that nonsense yard. Any stats I quote come right off B/R and leaders page, NL only.
I’m not making excuses for how bad the pitching is, but that is a completely separate issue, which I’ve also mentioned and was a problem before they got to Mexico as well.

Stevenson homered over weekend for Sac vs. OKC Dogs AAA. Minus Yaz short LH OFs.
Schmitt has had 113 ABs in Sac, 5 BBs 0 HRs 24 Ks. Slash line .301/.325/.372. This is hitters league; think Giants would like to see him do little better at this level, first shot above AA ball.

    • Flavor said, on May 1, 2023 at 7:11 pm

      at least we’ve got Wisely

      • alleykat69 said, on May 1, 2023 at 7:17 pm

And Stevenson will lead the way..

Man Lurch and this BP is so hard to watch

      • Flavor said, on May 1, 2023 at 7:26 pm

yes, Wisely and Stephenson will dig us out of the hole that Dubon and Reynolds left behind. We are run by absolute goddamn morons……..

  13. unca_chuck said, on May 1, 2023 at 7:12 pm

There it is. Doobie Dubon no less. Hjelle has no fury like a Giants fan scorned. Fuck this guy.

    • unca_chuck said, on May 1, 2023 at 7:13 pm

Duval, Reynolds, now Dubon. Gonna give that 5 game winning streak right back.

  14. Unca chuck said, on May 1, 2023 at 7:17 pm

Kudos to the music guy for playing Born to be Wild. And then Wild Thing!!!!!

  15. unca_chuck said, on May 1, 2023 at 7:26 pm

Gonna say they aren’t scalding the ball but we’ve given them about 6 free bases on passes balls and wild pitches

My dad would say, back in the day, “we hit like Wash Women”. I think that’s racist so i won’t say it again but honestly I never really knew what he meant by that and he used to say it all the time when I was a kid.

      • djloo27 said, on May 1, 2023 at 10:31 pm

In Brooklyn, a “washer woman” was a guy who liked to gossip about everyone and know everyone’s business – not racist at all…
