Monday Night Meltdown
Lots of ugly in the Bay Area last night. Disco gets credit for not panicking but the game was over after the first inning. It’s too bad as Washington is not exactly offering up a Murderers Row of hitters.
And then The Warriors. The sad reality must be accepted. Championship DNA cannot overcome Father Time. Life’s clock is undefeated, gents.
I dont think in these championship years and all these playoff series that the Warriors ever played poorer basketball in the last two minutes of a playoff game. Draymond not realizing all he had to do was turn to the basket with 25.7 seconds left for an easy put back to go up one, Curry not realizing he could call for a time out after coming down with the jump ball, Klay just jacking up shit, and Curry also just taking a couple not smart shots, all of this was very, very un-Warrior like. Tough pill to swallow. Can still see this going to a Game 7, but will they have any thing left in the tank?
The potential reality if we go out in this series that this run may have hit its retirement. Bob Meyers has not been extended. Draymond could opt out and might possibly be the only rational long-term move is that the Warriors cant extend Dray or Klay the next year after for max out deals they both want. That we may have to begin the next era may be a reality either before the start of the next season or the one after…
Good point about Dray not going back up after O board. Schroeder was nearest guy and he could have put GS back ahead with hoop there. Big 3 couldn’t get it done when they needed to, but even during regular season this happened far too often.
was the easiest put back and still gave Fakers 20 plus seconds but I’d rather have a lead.
Sadly agree. Father Time slowly envelops all of us. For athletes this sobering reality hits sooner due to more limited professional career arc. Before 40 it’s time to head to broadcast booth or simply return home and live off your career earnings. Difficult to see path where Warriors win 3 consecutive games.
As for Giants, perhaps Oracle Park will show some juice if Giants put together solid month and get on positive side of .500 record. But first six weeks of season portend mixed bag at best with week of good baseball followed by 4-5 game losing streak. I envision Giant front office in late July and early August piecing together mediocre roster and working hard to remain wild card relevant at expense of infusing team with AAA prospects. Too early to project but could be sea of empty seats in August/September.
Think help is on the way from Sac (Schmitt/Fitzgerald Harrison), and I enjoy watching Wisely as back up while Craw and Yaz out. Team won 7 of 8 at home before last 2 Ls and nobody showed up anyway. Unfortunate but don’t see way around it. If anyone would be moved I think it would be one or two of the SPs to get Harrison in there or Flores to contender.
They’ve come back from 3-1 before, but this team just seems so stupid. It happened at least 20 times this season where they blew leads with under 2 minutes left. AS they say though, win the next one.
Poole looked completely awful. Glad Kerr simply gave up on him. But Steph and Klay simply stopped passing and just started chucking. And I don’t really get why Kuminga isn’t getting any time as the bench isn’t doing shit anyway. But with 1 or 2 smarter possessions, the Warriors could very easily be up 3-1 instead of down 3-1.
Oh well.
Cobb definitely trade bait and thought the same of Descla until last night’s first but playoff contending teams will all be looking for arms this year…
It has made no sense to me with the Fakers size that Kuminga has gotten no real floor time. I mentioned the other day after the surprise JaMychal start that Game 3 they should have come out to try and throw the Fakers further off and start Kuminga. At least Payton got the start last night. Has anyone seen why Payton left the floor for the locker room there in the ifrst???
GH, Payton had to vomit.
Schmitt has been called up this a.m according to one tweeter I noticed.
There are 15 games today. 30 starting pitchers. 16 of them (SIXTEEN) have eras over 5.00 and a 17th has an era of 4.99.
you should have a field day on daily fantasy…
Joe Kapp died. Waited on him at store I used to work at years ago, very nice man.
Damn. Fun guy to watch play. Those days with the Vikings were pretty cool. Tough mofo that’s for sure.
Giants LU far from a Murders Row that’s for sure.Besides Wade,Estrada,Davis the rest are still blowing out both ends from Mexico. Conforto completely lost,Hainger looks skinnier then Don Knotts,Wisely kinda coming on some but let’s face it the bottom of the order stinks when it’s Sabol,Wisely &Freaking Cal still can’t get a hit Stevenson!! And where is Bart&Slater ?? Screw matchups you stupid bitch Kapler get your best players in there! B
And Ruf dfa’d. Probably won’t get claimed.
Hmmmmm. Catch the 2nd time he says ‘negro’.
An inability to reliably enunciate the long vowels in that word should disqualify anyone from announcing pro baseball.
Would he say Hanegro? Maybe he was just announcing the signing of Mitch Haniger by the Giants.
-er and -ro are pretty different oolongs or whatever the fuck they are. Dipthongs?
A mind is a terrible thing to lose.
ni- instead of ne- and -gra instead of -gro formed a common locution back in the day, especially for people who resented not being allowed to use the n word outright.
Xoot’s 8:48 right, Schmitt up/Stevenson down.
And 9:23, Ruf DFA’d.
so where does Schmitt see most action? Came up as 3b with strong D rep, moved to SS in AA/AAA, then to 2b as Tyler Fitzgerald promoted to AAA, and Fitzgerald is one getting SS time at Sac.
Schmitt is perfect as the main IF backup. He played a lot of SS in the minors while Luciano was hurt.
Unrelated to our baseball and basketball travails, did anyone know that Greg Abbott, Texas Governor, was crippled (paralyzed from the waist down)? I didn’t until today . . . When he was 26, a freak accident resulted in Greg Abbott’s paralysis from the waist down. Back on July 14, 1984, Abbott was jogging before a storm caused an oak tree to fall on him. Divine justice???
Just another dark souled morality asswipe.
Not quite.
Yes, the “Big Guy” didn’t finish the job. SMH . . .
Schmitt should see the bulk of action at SS giving Estrada a blow who’s out there a lot.Thario’s best position is 2B anyway.3B also but Davis is like top 3 in 3rd sackers defense metrics I believe?
Glad to see him called up and Stevenson down, more moves should come as well like dumping Ruf..
Muscle Head Kap strikes again. Conforto has 5 FIVE home runs off Corbin lifetime. He’s 10-31. WTF why isn’t he starting tonight?
I definitely get your point Flavor own age is own age!
Its the Kapler’s way when it goes to matchups he doesn’t give a shit. It’s a roll of the dice I guess?Conforto can’t hit anything right now could be a mental day off.He is starting every Right hand hitter including Schmitt at SS only Wisely the only left hand hitter batting 9th, I’m ok with this LU..
Legendary Louisville coach Denny Crum died. Won 3 titles as UCLA assistant with Wooden, then beat Bruins in 1980 for his first title and won another one for the Ville later.
Beat Duke in ’86 for 2nd title.
Hey, maybe a big 1st for the home team.
What a sweet AB by Haniger knocking in 2runs with a splitting the gap ringing double!
Wow great job by Webb striking out the side after 2nd and 3rd no outs setup by a bunt that Davis should of just ate..
Schmitt is San Diego State guy and went to Eastlake HS of Chula Vista.
Don’t tell Kap but he also pitched 87 innings there, all in relief I think.
Casey at the bat!
CASEY SCHMITT!! Big time Bomb 400 Left Center!!
Welcome to the Bigs Kid!!
Wasn’t that cool.
Glad I got to see that. Sweet!
Victory!
YAY! Nice moments for Schmitt!
Schmitt Happens!
Great Debut and having like 40 are more family and friends flying in from San Diego is awesome 👏
