A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Blogger Code of Conduct Rules

I’d like to think that I do a fairly good job of moderating this place. It’s one of the reasons that I started this blog and left the ridiculous Splash a few years ago. I have no problem with bloggers getting in arguments and having debates about something. I am even ok if it’s not perfectly respectful. But here are my rules:

1) Your post is AT RISK of being deleted if you post something that is over-the-top or abusive or if it crosses a line in frequency (ie, if you go on and on and refuse to stop).  There is no set number that I can say is THE NUMBER that will cause me to delete posts due to frequency. I would say 5 or 6 back and forth’s usually isn’t a problem–if the *debate* is clogging up the page that’s a good sign that someone isn’t letting something go and the only way I know of to stop it is to start deleting posts.  I can’t tell you exactly what is *over-the-top*.  Basically, I know it when I read it. Sorry if that’s not defined enough but that’s the way it goes.

2) I will delete any troll poster who is just posting with a goal of irritation and I will delete them much quicker than I will a Flap vet (who gets the benefit of the doubt if arguing with a new player). You have to build credibility here. It’s not that hard to do.

3) If I zap a post it’s possible that I might also have to zap a post or two of the blogger who was engaging the “zapped” blogger. For one thing, your posts won’t make sense. Secondly, I usually get emails wanting to know why *your* post got zapped and the other guy’s didn’t and it’s sometimes just a little more fair to zap both guys who are irritating each other.

I delete very few posts here at The Flap.

And here’s a tip: try ignoring bloggers or posts that you don’t like. You can also try to respond with “I will not discuss this further” or “this is my last comment on this topic”. Those are 2 respectful ways of showing a blogger that you are done with the *argument*.  And then prove it by leaving it alone and moving on. If the other guy keeps going I will start zapping his posts.

Any questions, just shoot me an email. My inbox is always open. 🙂 🙂 🙂

***updated***** if you post something that appears to be an attempt to *set a blogger up* or to set some type of *blog trap* for them with the perceived intention to attack them afterwards, your post will be at risk of being deleted…..

I’d like to send you an e-mail to run something by you, but I’m not sure how to contact you. Could you drop me a line at dmarkham@metalcenternews.com.
