A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

There’s a New Sheriff in Town….

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 1, 2010

Ubaldo Jimenez, Jesus Christ. This dude has 10 wins already and what’s he got, 5 or 6 more starts before the all star game? Utterly dominated us, as he has done all season against everyone else. We didn’t learn anything from this game except there’s a clear front runner for the NL Cy Young Award. Timmy has a fun little streak of 5 walks a game, 4 games running. When the fans are saying “at least we can count on winning the Wellemeyer starts” you know we’ve got problems. It’s not an overstatement to say that if Lincecum doesn’t right himself our season is doomed….

Congratuations to DPaintings! He won the mini-contest. MrBillBill took 2nd place. You guys, send me your address and I will get you the mini-Timmy bobblehead (d-paintings) and the mini-black baseball bat (BillBill) out ASAP….

At some point later this morning I’ll add up all the June Contest players and create a page on the right hand side of the blog for them….

Yeah, there’s also something about Rowand batting after Molina that spells double play. But we’ll see what happens

I’m down with killing the TU/TD thing if the votes stay the way it is.

Huh? Pro TU/TD is winning the vote

Looks like we’ve got 25 for the June contest for the Netbook….
Fresh, i don’t really pay much attention to the Splash anymore but I seem to remember that you are against that dude pretending to be a female college student. If you are he and you are against he who is pretends to be she then welcome aboard…….

Ted– I know, but I think it’s a dumb feature. Unless there was a huge backlash against getting rid of it I will happily ditch it…..

I can’t stand Soph, hence my name on the Splash.

“Are we really in an offensive position to kiss off the last third of our line up???????” Can we get agreement that the fuckling idea is NOT for them to continue sucking? Your take is bizarre.

  9. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:08 pm

twin, the point is that both those guys are in the throes of a desperately long slump. Do you think the’re both about to blast out of it today? Shit, that’d be great. But the more likely think is that they both keep smoking pole at the plate tonight. And then the pitcher bats after them. All I’m saying is that putting 2 dudes horribly slumping next to each other, in front of the fucking pitcher, isn’t a recipe for success……

  11. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:10 pm

I think where we have a basic disagreement is this:
while any sentient person will have disagreements with Bochy and his line ups, many of you actually believe that you really are smarter than Bochy about his players and managing a baseball team. As long as you entertain that fiction, there will be major disagreement here.

  12. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:10 pm

Alley– loved your post so I made it post of the day (it should really be “post of the moment” right? Anyway, as I was heading back to the concessions to complain SanDog was like “Just fucking eat it”….so I did.

  13. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:13 pm

wrong again twin. I am commenting on the fact that I think it’s stupid to put two shit-hitting hitters, both mired in desprate slumps, next to each other, in front of the fucking pitcher. I never said I thought I am “smarter than Bochy about his players and managing a baseball team”. To live in your world you have to NEVER question what Bochy does. Or if you do I guess you think you’re smarter than him and that you can do his job? What-the-fuck-ever does that mean!>!>!>!>!>!>!>???????

  14. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:17 pm

    I question plenty, I just don’t make it a 24/7 campaign. It’s boring.
But my comment was to all, not just Flavor.

  15. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:20 pm

I think you’ve just been bombarded with people who question and hate Bochy/Sabean, you read a lot of it at the SPlash, the Merc and here to some degree. I spend a fraction of my posts specifically questioning Bochy and Sabean. I brought up what I thought was a legitimate question. If ‘Gringo had posted the same thing I could see how you would say what you said. After re-reading my post several times I still don’t know what the tactical plan is behind that last third of the line up unless he’s just praying to God that they both magically snap out of their slumps at the same time tonight…….

  16. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:21 pm

If he batted them anuywhere else it would just be a different bitch or a new bitcher. The LU bashing is stupid because this really IS just “shuffling the deck chairs”. What they’re getting from this group is “who they are”…

  17. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:21 pm

either God listens or we are looking at 2 for 12 from the bottom third of our line up tonight, at best…..

  18. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:22 pm

wrong. Here’s an idea: sit one or both of them tonight. Don’t fucking play them both and bat them next to each other in front of the fucking pitcher……..

  19. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:23 pm

and I should get about a million thumbs up for my last post since there is at least some logic behind it…….

  20. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:28 pm

now that 5 of you guys are “authors” do you see the “(edit)” feature next to the time of your posts?

  21. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:28 pm

Since you got 27 votes from morons who want to keep the feature, you should definitely get some thumbs up…

  22. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:31 pm

Still no “edit” feature here, Flav. Is the June contest still a go? If so, whose got what?

  23. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:31 pm

Actually, I have no fucking “edit” feature, i can’t even click on a poster to view their profile. Maybe we need a smarter manager here 😉

  24. DaddyO's avatar DaddyO said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:34 pm

Flavor – If Molina and Rowand are “automatic outs” or “double play assumed” when someone is on ahead of them, I think it still makes sense to not sprinkle them into the other groups where there is a chance for an extended rally. At least the other 2/3s of the lineup has an opportunity to keep the line moving. There will be days when one or both are not on the lineup card, not so tonight. Now if our lower third has a decent night, we have a chance to score 18 like the Padres did against the Mets last night.

  25. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 1, 2010 at 6:36 pm

hmmmm. ok I will check that out with their support staff. They’re supper responsive……Twin you want me to post the June contest list right now? Let’s shut this bad boy down and let everybody get a look at it. I have birthday party shit to deal with later tonight for Katie’s mom and Kate is super needy right now with the one arm so it might be now or never……

DeRosa’s wrist is really reaching the comical stage now.The Giants medical staff in a last desperation attempt, decide to drill two holes in the tendon to relieve pressure. They don’t expect to see any results for a few more weeks,so they’ll heap mud on the injury and send him back on to the field until then.

Just looked at the June contest numbers. I fucked up. Don’t worry, Flav, you posted what I emailed so I can’t change them but I fucked up my total runs. I think I was in a rush and transposed my calculation on total runs. Used a 3.4 average rounded down as opposed to 4.3

  35. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 1, 2010 at 7:07 pm

Are the D-backs not the DUMBEST fucking team in the league when it comes to putting together a pitcher staff???
Dumb move #1: they traded Sherzer for Edwina Jackson last Winter. Sherzer shows his stud talent with 14 k’s in 5+ innings over the weekend. Edwina is rolling with the 3 and 6 record and the 6+ ERA
Dumb Move #2: they’ve got CHad Qualls still closing. 7.84 ERA
Dumb move #3: they signed a spent Bobby Howry to shore up their bullpen. 10+ ERA before they released him
Dumb move #4: they traded Billy Buckner (a terrible pitcher who they let pitch in 19 games for them over three freaking years–seriously does it really take 3 years to determine that Buckner sucks???) for DOntrelle Willis. I don’t know how much the Tigers are throwing in for his salary but unless it’s all of it, this is another dumb ass move by the d-Backs…..
Seriously, Sabean knows pitching. THe dBacks already have hitting. If he was fired by the Giants and took over the reigns in AZ they’d win the WS within 4 years……..
