A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Trey-Mendous Pick

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 30, 2021

Ok, I was able to relax, shat and shave this morning. This Mac Fatty stuff was seriously distracting me and weighing on me even more than the fat draped upon his frame.

But it was all for not, turns out it was a smokescreen! Why? Who knows? There was literally no reason for this.

Now let Jimmy go try to keep himself in one piece and maybe he wins us a SB on the way out of town. Here’s hoping Lance will respond to Kyle’s tuteledge the same way the SF pitchers jizz their pants when Buster and Casalli throw down their glorious fingers…..

Today is Oaks day and I have a couple of longshots if you’re interested…..

Draft Day

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 29, 2021

Just put me out of my misery already and gimmie that doughy fuck. I finally realized my #1 issue with all of this: Kyle is the supposed QG guru. He doesn’t like Jimmy anymore. That’s fine, neither do I. The moment he wildly overthrew Sanders in the Super Bowl I knew he wasn’t special. And it was downhill for him from there.

Ok so you want a new QB to sculpt the way you want? There are FIVE of them, 6 if you count Mills who many people (not me) think has big time potential.

So go draft one of them at 12. Goddamn, it’s very likely Jones would have been there at 12. If not, DRAFT ANOTHER ONE. Of those 6 there is GUARANTEED to be one to choose at 12. Why does it HAVE to be Jones? Like you couldn’t do what you want with any other QB? It has to be Jones?

I’d expect more from a supposed *guru*.

Anyway, the Giants won again and Alex Wood is going to make a bajillion dollars on his next contract…..

Bush League

Not to sure what to say about the rule of the dude born on second base to start the 10th. That isn’t baseball. It completely whittles away and ruins any hard work your team does to claw back into a game. What about 9th inning heroics!??!!?!? Screw ’em, we gotta end this game, STAT!

I wouldn’t feel any differently if the Giants had won.

They have to get rid of this rule, everyone hates it.

Unexpected Things

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 27, 2021

The San Francisco Giants have the best record in the National League (tied).

Also, this is a cool random stat:

If you combine Posey and Casilla’s fingers and put them all down at the same time, would the entire Giants pitching staff just jizz in unison?

Got this text from my main man since 7th grade, The Boney One. Big A’s/Niners fan. Thoughts? I disagree with him about Mills but I do think Shanny has too much hubris to get this right and his talent eval skills have never been proven to give him the right to make a call of this magnitude for an entire franchise.

Foraging A Path To The Post Season

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 26, 2021

Mr. SportsDude asked: “My question for everyone is at what point to do start taking this seriously enough to think we could contend? Mid May?”

Well, we probably need to start at least playing the contenders first. We had a couple of games against LA and SD but that was early and they were missing Tatis. And as we can see now, both those teams are ROLLING right now, thankfully against eachother but those are the two heavy weights in our division. There’s no question about that. We have a nice, unexpected record but it has been compiled against the weakest teams in baseball.

So that leaves us looking, at best, at the final wild card spot in the NL. Just as we thought before the season started. Well, just as we thought (in our wildest dreams).

I’m just happy we are playing well and there’s nothing wrong with banking wins. It really is a credit to Kap and Z the way this cobbled together group has done so far this year…..

Sunday Loose Ends

Two Flap HOF birthdays today: Unca Chuck and Chi. Happy birthday, boys!

Game last night was unfortunate as we wasted a deGrom-esque performance by Gausman.

Logan Webb tries to recapture the rapture of spring training.

Stix, if you can read this, good luck. Wish I lived closer to help you with the heavy lifting.

Surprising Start

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 24, 2021

12% of the season is in the books and the Giants are a game out of 1st place. That is…..astounding. Maybe I haven’t given enough credit to the way Kap and his staff coach and manage. Maybe Z is operating on a level I can’t even see. None of this makes any sense to me.

All He Does Is Throw Up Zeros

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 23, 2021

Another shut out for Casalli. Man, do those SP’s jizz at the sight of his fingers or what! At this point, whether you think that’s luck or not, wouldn’t it be at least a good idea to consider to have Posey play first base and Casilla catch? I know Buster has about the same affect on our SP’s so it probably isn’t worth it since you lessen the D at first base with that move. But Belt is hitting .186 so…..Also, how much offense do we really need if Casilla is coaxing out these shut outs like a snake charmer teases a snake from his chambers?

Back Home

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 22, 2021

Miami again. Cross country trip for both teams, no day off, probably some tired guys tonight.

Speaking of tired guys, I was up all night with this guy. Lots of problems. Going to the ER first thing this morning but I got a bad feeling about this…..

Keep good ol’ Carson in your thoughts today.

Big Comeback Win

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 21, 2021

Well how about THAT! That’s the 2nd time this season we’ve come back from 4 down and isn’t it nice to actually see it happen rather than hope for it to happen and be let down? I still have no faith in these bats and continue to be haunted by the aged POTD but games like last night’s give our knowing dude head nods a little extra vigor, aye?

Piling Up Shut Outs

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 20, 2021

I was against the Curt Casalli pick up because it was silly to think his meager offensive output in that joke park would carry over to Oracle–and he has looked predictably worthless with a bat. But the Giants weren’t getting him for his bat and maybe there is something to this theory that pitchers jizz at the sight of certain pitchers fingers.

Either way, another shutout that is more impressive than what Cervelli did in 2015 since that was before the juiced ball era…….Or maybe all you need is an Italian sounding name?

What’s more impressive, the start to the Giants season or what Steph Curry’s been cookin’ up over the last few weeks?

Phuckin’ Phillies

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 19, 2021

We are now safely into the MLB grind. Miami swing now through Philly. It does feel great to have the consistency of baseball back again.

The aged POTD continues to haunt me. I just can’t believe in these hitters who seem so woefully weaker and less accomplished than many of the other NL teams.

With a batting average bumped *all the way up* to .205 we have at least safely put the disreputable Mendoza behind us. Sadly, The Cubs are the only one behind us as a team at .192.

Kap Needs To Find Another Well

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 18, 2021

The Giants have played 14 games and Jake McGee has appeared in 9 of them. That is too many, especially coming off a short season where he only pitched 20 innings total. He’s been a nice surprise but if Kap wants to continue to get positive returns on him he needs to spread him out more. Now, who is the secondary closer is a good question. But I know one thing: it can’t just be McGee all season that’s not going to work.

To be honest with you I can’t remember what led to the falling out I had with good ol’ BassBaldy. It had something to do with him thinking Adam Duvall was the second coming of Barry Bonds. Something like that. I also suspected him to be an undercover Dodger troll but I could have been wrong about that………

This is a picture of Ervin, one of my main men on the scene in the Pacific Northwest. It was sent to me by PaSalon, my #1 First Mate in Reno. I have many questions about this picture: for starters, what did Ervin’s friend eat that was so good he cleaned his plate like that? And why is Ervin asleep? How could anyone sleep wearing that rad shirt, their must be a game on somewhere. Also, what is wrong with Ervin’s food? DId he think it was poisoned? Why didn’t he eat his food?

Florida Sucks

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 16, 2021

It feels like the Marlins are always a pain to play. Anyone know what our career record vs them is? I tried finding that but whet down a rabbit hole at baseball-ref and barely got back out alive.

Game time is 4:10PM PST

Disappointed to hear about Cueto but my main man in Portland, Luke, says there’s nothing to worry about: We have the pitching to cover for him.

I’m going with Luke on this one till further evidence emerges…..

Nice Start To The Season

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 15, 2021

I bet the plane flight across country was pretty fun for our guys. Especially with a day off today. Good for them they earned it.

James was at the game yesterday as most of you know. You may have read his rundown but here it is if you missed it.

Shimmy Wednesday

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 14, 2021

Really surprised the Reds are slight favorites vs us today. Cueto going against his old team should count for something and Mahle is no man to fear.

With all the balls flying out of the yard I hope Giants brass took notice.

KEEP THE ARCHWAYS CLOSED!

Rough Night For Giants, Ex-Giant

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 13, 2021

We all know Bumgarner saves his best performances for the post season but, uh, he’s starting to let himself go a little in the regular season. WOW. He’s pitched 55.1 innings for the D-backs and he’s given up 47 earned runs. He’s turned into the Dodgers version of Jason Schmidt. Can you imagine what those fans must think of him? Does Arizona have fans that would care enough to be mad about this? Boston certainly did when it came to our beloved Panda.

Not much to say about last night’s game except the team batting average is down to .192. I continue to stare at the aged, ominous POTD and worry that maybe it was more predictive of ALL of our 2021 bats…..

Spot On Expectations

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 12, 2021

Evan Longoria leads our team in every offensive category and our 5 starting pitchers have a collective ERA of 2.33.

Yep, just how we all envisioned the season going.

Sanchez goes tonight, I am fully expecting another lock down SP appearance. And a nice little 6:45pm start time. Let’s go.

Win Train Keeps On Rolling

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 11, 2021

We’re so spoiled to start this season it’s gotten to the point when one of our SP’s goes 5 and gives up 3 runs we’re like, “What’s wrong with THAT guy?”

The hitting is another story. Team batting average is currently .197.

But whatever, if we can play .625 ball while failing to crest the Mendoza Line, so be it…..

Beating Colorado

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 10, 2021

Again, our SP continues to be amazing. This is not sustainable. At some point the hitting needs to get going. Although I have feared the aged POTD for some time now.

The vaccine: Loo, i got my second shot a couple months ago (Moderna). The good news about the 12-36 hours of discomfort is that it literally goes away immeditely, it’s not like you slowly get better. Everyone should get vaccinated if they are given the opportunity. Normally I wouldn’t give a shit about dumbass anti-vaxers but they are going to slow the goal of herd immunity, likely allowing the virus to mutate again putting the sustainability of our vax at risk. Probably will just need a booster at some point next year but, yeah, FUCK the anti-vaxers.

Here’s are two pics submitted by Sarge–The first Flapper man enough to storm Oracle during the Pandemic.

A Big Flavor Type Of Weekend

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 9, 2021

KNBR was reporting there are still tickets available for all the games this weekend. I briefly entertained the idea of going to a game but, eh, I’m still pretty set in my pandemic ways. It’s not time yet.

Well I’m glad I took the time to trash the Beatles yesterday because had I neglected to do so we would have been deprived of some all time Flap stories, especially the ones told by Bozo and Stix.

Luckily we don’t have to hear anything more about the Beatles today because it’s back to baseball.

It’s impossible to not be pleasantly shocked by the early returns of our starting pitching. Our SP has been like if you told me you were about to play me a new Beatles song and I was like “Don’t do it they are fucking terrible” and then you played it anyway but before I could reign blows down upon you I decide I actually love the song……

The hitting: sucks

Matt Wisler: triple sucks

I’m excited for a weekend of baseball and The Masters and maybe a pick 4 or two thrown in. Let the glory commence.

Somehow Getting It Done

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 8, 2021

Well, I’m not too sure how many times we’re going to be able to count on the offense bouncing balls off opposing outfielders over the fence for runs. And I guess it was nice that we coaxed that dude born on second base home. Our offense looks a trifle less than imposing to me. But we did take 2 of 3 from the team that was supposed to participate with LA in waxing us 36-0 this year so no matter how they did it those are two dubs in the bank for us.

Colorado is terrible, let’s pad that W total.

Who Are These Guys?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 7, 2021

Only a few games into the season and this is already feeling like a weird year. SF is near the top of the league in HR’s but I still don’t trust this offense. I’m not really sweatin’ the solo bombs those will even out over the course of the season. I just look at the line up and it’s not doing anything for me. But then there are all those bombs. So I don’t know what to think.

Kapler (and many of the players) have given credit for the power boon to the coaching staff and the new hitting approach. Could that really be all it takes? Just a different “approach”? I dunno, I’m not sold. The aged POTD still resonates with me…….

Surprising Win

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 6, 2021

Man, I’d already penciled us in for 36 losses at the hands of the Pads and Dodgers. What to do? Might have to update that prediction. Terrible to see a superstar like Tatis go down but they sure look less imposing without him, aye?

Disco is going to be a main key for us this year. Assuming Gausman and Cueto can stay healthy, we need a reliable #3 and it’s possible he is going to be that guy. You can’t have only 40% of your SP’s bringin’ it with the rest flailing. He looked good in his first start.

San Diego Looms

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 5, 2021

Now that we are done losing to pitiful Seattle we get our first true test of the season: 3 vs San Diego. I mostly want to just see us compete. If we get blown out 3 straight that will be a bad sign of things to come. We have 36 games vs these two vastly superior NL West teams. If we want to keep our win total in the 70s we need to figure out a way to compete in those games……

Happy Easter

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 4, 2021

I know it’s just the opening series but, come on, Seattle stinks. And we are .333 against them. Someone posted on twitter that our outfield is something like 4 for 40 so far. Grave Duggar time. And then of course, no game today.

I’m on the side that believes that was the best college bball game of all time. Yes, it was a lucky shot. But considering the circumstances with it being the end of overtime and to preserve a perfect season I think it ranks as #1.

Thoughts?

One In The Bank

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 3, 2021

As D-Sol continues to rake everything thrown in his direction I think it’s important to remember that the Giants thought it necessary to go to court to screw this guy out of $650,000……

Posey on pace to hit 162 bombs but knowing him he’ll probably peeter out around 100……

Nice win.

Tough Start

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 2, 2021

If you had told me that Buster Freaking Posey and Evan Longoria would both hit bombs AND Gausman would be rock damn solid into the 7th inning after pitching a total of 8 spring training frames I’d say “goddamn right we started off with a win.”

Brandon Crawford was horrible. I watched him try to catch that ball Belt threw him 10 times. Each time I become more incensed that he couldn’t catch it. He looked like a little leaguer overwhelmed with the speed of the throw as it bounced off his glove.

Whatever, Crawford isn’t the reason they lost. There were many goats, even more walks and, frankly, many balls that just didn’t bounce our way.

That happens in baseball. I’m just so thankful we have some normal looking baseball back. Win or lose. So grateful.

PLLLAAAAYYYY BAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 1, 2021

No more sleeps to go, gents. Today we play!!!! Well, tonight. But whatever, real baseball is going down today. I’m as excited for the game as I am for my team. In fact, it’s necessary to be excited for both considering how bad the Giants are going to be this year. But that’s cool, serenity now, serenity now, I can put up with a 70ish win team for another year, at least.

I’m not as sold on the kids as everyone else is. Maybe it’s because we continue to have the bore core shoved down our throats I’ve lost touch with what it’s like to have a young exciting player develop down below and blossom in the semi-luke warm San Francisco sun. Whatever, I’ll worry about that another day…..

Today is the real deal. I don’t remember what we were doing last April 1st. Probably wearing a mask and watching netflix with the pandemic fully throttling our lives. No longer. Chi is looking out that window with a big shit eating grin on his face. The world is alive again……
