A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

The Road Trip

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 4, 2010

I’m not even going to trip on Cinny yet, that series is not going to be a good match up for us. First up is Pittsburgh where we need to take at least 2 or 3. I’m giving us tonight’s game and then giving them the “Welly” game since it’s a road game and he loses his mind on the road—-And the Giants would NEVER throw Bum out there for his first start of the year, they’d run him out at ATT–I actually agree with that philosophy. It still has me doing a slow burn that we are giving a road game away in Pittsburgh. Anyway, then Timmy takes Game 3 just because he’s Tim Freaking Lincecum and he beats the Pirates with up to 5 blisters on his pitching hand…….

Keep McCutchen off the base paths and hope that Garrett Jones strikes out a lot. Their pitching sucks. I’d also like to see Franchez hit about .600 in this series and Pat the Bat come up to club a big bomb or two for us just to remind everyone on the team that it’s ok to lose them over the fence now and again….

I agree with Pawlie on the last thread, their ballpark is amazing. I wish I could take a trip there some day…..

Lots of terrible things happened on Wednesday. The well was still spewing oil. Jeffrey R. Adams Sr., 55, of Biggs, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in Oroville…
Gallaraga getting “robbed” was not one of them..
Bozo: the fucking scorekeeper does not overturn the umpire’s call. And to call it an error he is in effect doing just that. It doesn’t matter that Joyce acknowledged his mistake. By your reasoning there are now perhaps five fucking thousand scoring decisions pending reversal. … Once Joyce called the runner safe, it’s a hit. As you acknowledge, it’s up to Selig. And he dropped the ball.

You know Twin your right. The Comish is the one who’s job it is to maintain the integrity of the game.
The funny thing is, if the ump called him out but he was safe, there probably wouldn’t be all this whoopla just a footnote to the game.

Something in the cosmos must’ve shifted. I find myself agreeing with Michael/Twinfan, maybe not in fuckwaddian fashion but in substance. I can’t figure out if it’s apocalyptic, post-apocalyptic, calypso, post-calypso (DAY-O, DADA DAY-O), or merely eschatological.

p.s. ANYBODY who has ever seen the last strike of Don Larsen’s perfecto knows it was a ball (but, alas, it wasn’t). The call goes something like, “A ball and two strikes to [Dale] Mitchell, and…” It was high. I’m sure it’s on YouTube. So what. C’est la vie. I believe in the ’62 Series Mays came as close as he ever did to getting ejected over a bad call at third. (He was never ejected.) Again, what of it? The narrative of life on this orb.

Pawlie, you can say the same thing about Drrrty’s no-no. That pitch was outside . . .

    Chuckles,
    Really.
    This is all too disturbing.
A universe not as moral or as orderly as the Republicans and Puritans and Ken Starr would have us believe.
    Say g’night, Gracie.

    OK, question.

If/when DeRosa rejoins the team, what’s the rotation then? It seems like there are too many of the same guy on this team.

  9. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on June 4, 2010 at 1:07 pm

I was just going to ask if DeRosa had been put on the DL to open up the roster spot for Burrell.
Who got axed from the 40-man to make room?

  10. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on June 4, 2010 at 1:10 pm

Is Brian Bocock still on the 40-man? That might be a way to go, but I’d hate to see him leave. 🙂

  11. Michael's avatar Michael said, on June 4, 2010 at 1:14 pm

Brian is long gone, Dennis. He is currently hitting under his weight of 185 for the Philly AAA affiliate… amazing.

  12. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on June 4, 2010 at 1:24 pm

Yeah, but that’s only in 159 plate appearances. Give’em a little more time to break out of it.
He’ll have that .456 OPS of his climbing to the stars in no time.

Burrell shows up on the 40 now, but I am unsure who they moved to get him there. There is nothing in the “transactions” section that says who was moved to make room for Burrell.

    Thanks, WSW…makes sense.

  16. Nipper's avatar Nipper said, on June 4, 2010 at 1:44 pm

Just a guess of course, but Bocock may be coaching material if he is so inclined. A lot of the better coaches couldn’t hit a lick. But they sure can coach!

  17. Nipper's avatar Nipper said, on June 4, 2010 at 1:47 pm

How about moving Bowker! This man has good power but he sure can’t hit much at the MLB level. And his fielding is so so. Oh well, another Giants farm hand pissing away opportunity at the big league level.

That damn Splash booted my posts off three times yesterday. Okay I was a little over the top about you know who. But there was no cuss words and generally polite tone taken. You know who is really getting worse not better and I told her so. Of course it sailed right over her thick head. College kid my ass!

  19. Michael's avatar Michael said, on June 4, 2010 at 1:59 pm

I’m getting away from the Splash again. Frankly, the scum is winning and to top that off, it’s the scum that are successful in getting posts deleted. It’s impossible to talk baseball there. I totally blame the blog moderators. It’s worse than ever and fruitless to buck it.

FWIW, we’re 5-2 this year after an off day. There’s an “old guys need their rest” joke there somewhere, but I’ll leave it alone for now. Jesus, the Pirates have been outscored by an avg. of 2.4 runs/gm. That’s bad no matter how you slice it. Anything less than 2 outta 3 will be unacceptable.

  21. Nipper's avatar Nipper said, on June 4, 2010 at 2:24 pm

In their Park the Pirates aren’t pushovers. Perhaps one win would be expected. Of course if the Giants offense comes on strong why not two wins! Or three!

    Fred Lewis trade completed…for $75,000.

For all the production he’s given the Jays, u would have like to have seen an extra 0 on the end of that number.

75K? that’s what we got for Fred Lewis? Wow…..As I said at the time, keep his ass and hope for better. Well, better happened, but with a Blue Jays cap on……

I don’t normally hate on Sabean moves but that one is pretty damn unacceptable. For all of his faults, Lewis was a career .354 OBP guy. His .344 OBP so far this year is ahead of Sandoval, Uribe, Molina and Rowand. Did the team really need $75K more than a .344 OBP guy? Sabean fucked this one up.
