A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

I really don’t *hate* the A’s or anything. But I REALLY want to see a sweep today. More so than if it was any other team. we’re in a prime spot to get this done. How many dominant starts in a row does Cain have in him? We’ll find out today……

Cosby once used a swear word in his act when he was discussing drugs. Something to the tune of:

Did I fall into Smurf-ville? Fucking weird.

Anyhow, took the wife and son out to Georgetown in the foothills for some dirtbiking. Cool. In fact 20 miles out of Cool on 193 out near BFE.

Anyhow, heard the back to back jacks by Huff and Uribe coming down from the hills. Killer stiff. Cain pitched his ass off, in and out of trouble. Missed the pen melt down yesterday, and not sure if it happened again today, but got in home in time to see Huff jack his 2nd 2 run job.

Just wondering, have 2 guys gone back-to-back twice inthe same game? Uribe sure looked like he wanted to . . .

    Payback’s a bitch. Sorry, Oakland . . . Yeah, baby!!!

FlapFucks like to pretend that ballplayers share their prejudices. Huff did not blow off Rowand, he would never do such a thing. They are both pros and have mutual respect. It was one of Kat’s worst posts ever.

  56. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 13, 2010 at 6:38 pm

I will remind you now that while others mused about the possibilty, only the Esteemed Master twinfan called a homestand sweep.
“twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 4:43 pm (Edit)
With that said, you can really just throw the names in a hat. As long as Bengie doesn’t come up in the 1 it hardly fucking matters. This looks to be a sweep of the homestand…”
So I’m here to take the accolades or take the heat…

  57. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 13, 2010 at 6:47 pm

It was obvious the A’s couldn’t score runs this weekend without Suzuki and, well, without any real offense whatsoever. If you put up Torres, Huff, and Uribe against any of Beane’s bargain basement purchases (something he’s supposed to be so good at) he went down in flames against Sabean this year……

  58. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 13, 2010 at 6:49 pm

by the way, as you would call me on it if it were me, “looks to be” is not a prediction. “We will sweep them” is a prediction. I’ve learned all this from you so keep that in mind before the venom starts spewing……

  59. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on June 13, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Yeah, if a comment doesn’t contain “book it,” then it’s merely just a wish wrapped in hope sprinkled with desire.

    Like so…

delmardennis said, on June 12, 2010 at 4:27 pm I think tonight’s game looms large in our hopes of getting on a nice win streak. Win tonight, Cainer tomorrow followed by three vs the lowly O’s looks like six in-a-row to me. Baltimore is horrible. We could get nine guys off this blog to beat their sorry asses. Yep, win tonight and we’ll hit the 6+ streak. Book it!

  61. stumillersgust's avatar stumillersgust said, on June 13, 2010 at 7:01 pm

Is the ball harder to hit this year? Ted Lilly has a no-hitter through seven against the White Sox, would have a perfect game except he walked the pitcher.

  62. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 13, 2010 at 7:02 pm

  64. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on June 13, 2010 at 7:09 pm

I know that. Game 1 with Timmy was a given.

  65. stumillersgust's avatar stumillersgust said, on June 13, 2010 at 7:11 pm

Interesting game on. Normally the pitcher would be pinch hit for in the bottom of the eighth with a one run lead. The no-hitter is screwing Piniella. Now it’s starting to rain and Lilly struck out with the leadoff man aboard.

  66. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 13, 2010 at 7:14 pm

  68. willied's avatar willied said, on June 13, 2010 at 7:15 pm

Flav, don’t forget The Genius of Moneyball signing Sheets for $10mil…according to Shea in today’s Chron, Taylor is hitting .220, and the other minor league phenom is at .240, so help for their puff ball offense is not on the way just yet.

I’ll admit to being wrong if Seattle continues to suck, but third is best the A’s can hope for. If Texas or Angels can make a deal for more pitching, they’ll bury the A’s. Hope you took your buddy’s bet.

  69. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 13, 2010 at 7:17 pm

I tried to discuss that on the Splash, Stu. The trolls wrecked the thread. Managers fucking hate no hitters for the reason you are talking about.

  70. willied's avatar willied said, on June 13, 2010 at 7:20 pm

Btw, if Rent comes off the DL, then the only guy actually on it from the prediction vote taken last month would likely be MDR.

  71. stumillersgust's avatar stumillersgust said, on June 13, 2010 at 7:20 pm

Juan Pierre breaks up the no-hitter. Piniella should have pinch hit for Lilly after all. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t, I suppose, but with the score 1-0 and the leadoff hitter aboard, the insurance run was more important than the no-hitter for Lilly.

  72. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 13, 2010 at 7:22 pm

Driving down to Santa Cruz early Mem. Day morn I heard Huff “interviewed” by the KNBR morning guys. Huff is straight outta Texas. Funny story about how his little home town loved football and he couldn’t cut it as QB. Who the fuck (it was implied) wants to play football if you can’t be the QB? he asked. Rhetorically, as Dennis would say. So he focused on baseball. When it came to playing music, he was low key. Seems important to him, but he didn’t make a big deal about it. He sounded like a savvy, confident, tough pro, with a great sense of timing.
