Surprised we don’t see Rowand tonight…….

I’m busy with a bunch of stuff tonight but if anyone mentions “Renteria” in this thread you are getting the comment deleted. I’m done with this. And I’m done with the paranoia about “who is posting as who”. Talk about the game and the team or you’re all free to post at the Splash. If you mush use language, head back over to the dead-blog and post till the cows come home. I really don’t give a shit……

Ted that was a very nice, tech supportive post @ Billy. Well done. Let’s see more of that around here. πŸ™‚
diggity dog I bet cal’s had several other drunken weekends since the one you’re asking about. Specifics please!

Debauchery played out nicely. Vegas was cool but being in a group involving my sister and aunt was hardly the way to go. Reno was a different story. Stayed at the nastiest shit-hole motel we could find. Took my $40 winnings from the craps table to the strip club and pretended it was more like $400. Woke up bruised, battered, nauseated and broke – the way it should be.

Billy- thought diggitydog was talking to cal but now I see he’s @ you. Dude that is the “Reno post of the day”. I’m there once every 6 weeks and while I don’t roll that way I see where you’re coming from on the description. My friends and I play a game driving up 4th street into downtown: who can identify the person on the street that looks like they are most likely from Reno. There’s a new contestant every block.

Team was overdue for a laugher. Baltimore’s been butchered by most everyone lately even though they do have a core of good hitters. It all boils down to pitching. One of the game’s most ancient adages is that good pitching shuts down good hitting way more often than not.
Just got the notion that the Martinez start tomorrow may be by way of a bit of showcasing. He pitches a solid 6 with no more than three scored against him and maybe the trading partner is right handy.

But looking at the flip side of the coin, who does Baltimore have who would be a significant upgrade over any of the Giants position players? It seems unbelievable, but in comparison to recent seasons, it would appear that essentially all the pieces are in place. This has fast become one close to complete ballclub, save maybe the current state of the BP.

Thing is, though, Giants are gradually developing an inventory of spare parts and there are teams out there which are hungry. I could see either Ishi or Molina going for a very sturdy, proven setup man.

This would be a good time to ask the home plate ump “Did anyone ever tell you, you look like a penis with that little hat on? “

How much does a nasty-ass hotel in Reno set a person back? $17.50? Last summer, my buddy and I (fellow tight-ass teacher) went and stayed at the Plaza in Vegas for $19 a night. I love downtown Vegas. Strolling through the Fremont Street Experience with a large stinger in one hand and an aluminum bottle of Bud in the other—slowly making our way down to the craps table at the El Cortez…taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells along the way…..good times.

stix – one thing I was trying to figure out was if we traded for anyone where would they play. I mean four of our starters tonight could play other positions. If we did do a trade (I’m thinking Martinez, Whitesideburns or Ishi) what are we dealing for? I mean, who would they replace in tonights starting line-up? I kinda think we just got a bit crowded in the position players.

I booked two rooms at the Showboat inn on 7th st I think. Very short walk to all the action. 55 a nigh per room for 2 guys a room. I hear you craig, some serious meth goin on out there. Reminds me of the game I play when I go to clearlake. As for the rooms it was hard to find a square inch on the carpet without a cigarette burn. The in-room phones were purely for show as there no actual wires connecting them to anything. Started downing Hamms on the way to the golf course at 9 a.m.(darkhorse out by Auburn, highly reccomended) and didn’t quit till just after 4 a.m. Good times.

Bozo: “Who do we deal for?” Agreed on the position players. Team is pretty much complete on the field, even if it’s a shuffleboarding Rubik’s cube of interchangeable parts. So it comes down to that final note i made: Bullpen has been shaky lately. Some of the teams which are going noplace fast do have serviceable or better relievers, particularly reliable setup men. At this point i see the BP as essentially the only hole on the team. It might could be cured internally through improved performances or via the farm system, but even one unflappable steady arm might just make all the rest of em a bit better.

Without knowing what else to suggest, twin, here’s a comment I found after I posted.

Toronto OF Fred Lewis did not start on Monday in San Diego and sat for the second consecutive game as Dewayne Wise got the start in center. Lewis is slumping right now as he’s 3 for 17 (.176) over his last five games with four walks, seven strikeouts and one caught stealing. There is no other news as to why the Jays have kept him on the bench for the last two games.

My stats indicate it’s worse than reported, despite the fact you are correct on his last outing.

Thanks for the info. 3b seems to be the only stat they’re ranking lower than 5th in the N.L. in. Not that I entirely expect this to continue – but anyone still complaining about the offense will never be happy.

  50. stixwiz's avatar stixwiz said, on June 14, 2010 at 9:16 pm

Creepin on up. Currently the Giants are second in the league in BA at .266. Reds have a comfortable lead in their bandbox at .279. Other categories: 12th in runs at 265 (slow climb there); 11th in HRs with 53; a respectable 7th in doubles with 119; middle of the pack 8th in OBP with a .332; tied for 7th in SP with a .409 and still hanging at third in ERA (blame the BP) with a 3.32 (interesting match with the OBP, though the decimal point is different.

My expectation is that the stats parade will gradually improve over the course of the season as SF now has a very presentable (though constantly changing) LU and with the impending addition of Bumgarner, almost unarguable the best Rotation in the game. Example right there in front of us tonight with Drrrty getting staked to that big lead in the second. He doesn’t have to pitch so fine and has tossed one damned good game mostly on cruise control.
