A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

The Orioles Can’t Lose EVERY Game.

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 16, 2010

Everyone saw the same thing last night, we hit bullets at people, they hit balls in between or by our guys. That’s baseball, we are on the other end of games like that all the time.

For the people freaking out about Lasorda sitting next to Neukom:  He’s there as a representative of Milken’s group that raises a TON of $$$ for prostate cancer research. They go around all Summer from stadium to stadium doing the same thing: Milken gets his half inning in the booth, Lasorda hangs out in the owners box. I swear to God, who could possibly be AGAINST raising money for cancer research? If you’re going to spaz out about Lasorda could you get equally burned up about Milken being invited into the booth for a half inning? Or do you support a guy who was convicted of racketeering and fraud? These two guys are spending their personal time raising billions of dollars for cancer research, Lasorda can come back and coach the goddamn team if the money they raise helps us find a cure for cancer. Jesus…..

Another save for Wilson. And i do mean save. Damned near a full two innings. Somehow i think that a save of more than one IP should get an extra half-save gold star or something. This guy can do it. Timmy was striking em out today, but threw way too many pitches making him done too early. But the BP came through, one way or another.

Ishikawa and Schierholtz turned the game from a nail-biter into something a bit more relaxed. Huff the Magic Dragon excels as a Giant and OOOOOREEBEEE thrives playing for his uncle’s old team. Back to Backers again. Wow!

This puts the pressure back on LA and SD and sets a positive tone for the trip to Toronto and Houston. 5-1 at China Basin. I’d be pretty happy with 4-2 on the trip and think they can do that.

Natey didn’t do himself any favors today. With both Velez and Bowker hitting very well, Shitholtz is hardly safe.

You guys are too funny… I agree, Nate is no lock to hang around, I guess he has one option left? Downs has done well, but with Rent back, there’s plenty of IFers. This Pen has got some figurin out to do, particularly the 8th. With the travel day, sure, Wilson can come in again for 5 outs. But, with the number of pitchers BW usually throws, Bochy can’t keep doing that in close games, or Wilson’s right arm is going to be two feet longer than his left in mid-September — when the Giants are really going to need him to liock it down…

  12. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 16, 2010 at 4:24 pm

Downs is already gone, is he not? Anyway, yeah, Wilson can’t do the two inning saves forever. Went into that the last time. For now, it’s probably Mota again after a decent outing last night. But it’s an issue for sure. These fucks have to throw strikes. Romo does that but doesn’t have the stuff. I think we might see a couple roster moves for the road trip and Edlefson could be one of them..

Of Wilson’s 18 saves this year, it seems a lot were coming in with just a one run lead. Any of you stat maniacs know if that’s true and if so how many? And where the hell did you find it?

I hadn’t heard yet that they officially activated Rent, sent Downs Down. I did hear this morning on KNBR that Rent is on a strict training diet. Somebody saw him last night at the Circle K in Los Banos chowing down a hot dog….

  17. stixwiz's avatar stixwiz said, on June 16, 2010 at 4:30 pm

C’mon now, Twin, its Edlefsen. Don’t make him into a Swede like Randy Johnson. Yes, he should be getting the call soon. That younger Baltimore reliever looked pretty good. Maybe he could be pried loose for someone who could fill one of that team’s many needs. The Pen is now the only really iffy part of this team. Sounds strange, i know, as they were perhaps the biggest strength through ST this year.

The LU we’ll probably see most often is Torres, Sanchez, Panda, Huff, Uribe, Burrell, Posey, Renteria. I know but will let you figger out the positions.

  26. macdog's avatar macdog said, on June 16, 2010 at 4:49 pm

They got the DH for the next three games, maybe Rent plays SS and Uribe at DH, although Burrell would seem to be an ideal DH.

  27. decapgiants's avatar decapgiants said, on June 16, 2010 at 4:50 pm

Burrell won’t DH in Toronto will he? Molina or Posey?

  28. 3bagger's avatar 3bagger said, on June 16, 2010 at 4:50 pm

I agree with Twin, as that’s the LU I’d like to see with Posey catching, but it remains to be seen that Bochy will bench Molina for any extended period. After the way he’s had trouble blocking pitches in the dirt and throwing out runners lately, it’s time.

  29. Jon's avatar Jon said, on June 16, 2010 at 4:52 pm

Maybe teams are going at Posey differently. He hasn’t done much since Cincy. I think they said 2 for his last 19? He may have to make some of the proverbial ‘adjustments’.

  30. 3bagger's avatar 3bagger said, on June 16, 2010 at 4:53 pm

Ooh, forgot about the DH this weekend. Uribe will get at least one, if not two days, as the DH. Since Rent went down, he hasn’t had much rest.

  31. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 16, 2010 at 5:12 pm

Yeah, I forgot the DH as well. But Bochy has already put to bed the foolishness that he won’t sit “his guys”. He just needs someone to sit them for. Nate showed again why he isn’t getting starts. Bengie is on his way out, it has to be, the numbers just don’t work for him…

Franchez is a fucking stud. The play off Timmy’s back was awesome, he kept his focus the whole time. At bat he’s fouling off pitches and/or waiting for the right one to move the runner, yup a number two hitter, big time. Gotta keep that little fuck on the field.

No giants second basemen, number two hitters or little fucks were injured in the making of this post.

  34. alleykat's avatar alleykat said, on June 16, 2010 at 6:21 pm

Yeah Bozo…Sanchez really has a great approach hitting. He doesn’t mind falling behind in the count, cause he has that Eckstein instinct in him to foul off tough pitches and make a pitcher work so hard they make a mistake. A perfect number 2 hitter. And his glove work is just outstanding, the guys a gold glover as his career fielding numbers show. The joke is someone thought Durham was a superior fielder then Sanchez.LMAO NO Fucking way could Durham even hold Sanchez’s jock when it comes to fielding.

Good job, Reds. Way to lay down for the Doyers….. Padres not having it so good. F Lew with a first inning leadoff triple, plus a double and two singles – 4 for 5 today. Guess he doesn’t like sitting 3 days in a row. Toronto is a good looking team. A 2 out of 3 for SF on the road would be a nice accomplishment.

4 hits by F-Lew tonight. I watched the game, they were all rockets. Anyway, great win today. You win these however you have to. And Wilson going 1+ is a no brainer, he’s a monster horse stud and our bullpen is absolute shit right now. Seriously, what is going on with Affeldt? Hammies fucking up his mechanics? Well, F-Rod, Lew-Rod, Mr. Electric.. both Flavor and i thought they should have kept him, perhaps for different reasons. But Torres probably never gets his shot if Fred was here. And we know we love Andres’ defense more. Anyway, Fred can begin his next slump on Friday, that will be fine with me…. 4 of 6 road trip, that’s my call.

  43. DaddyO's avatar DaddyO said, on June 16, 2010 at 7:45 pm

I go back because I like zum, bags, fresh, chuck, stanofh and of course twin. And some of these folks don’t post here. My *real* problem is, I have so many people on ignore I have to wade through for hours before I actually read a post. The funny thing is, when I read a post by the above named folks, I don’t have to “Show Details” on the ignored ones to see what’s being responded to. Never. They always, always say the exact same things over and over again.
But I’ve been thinking. I do wonder why they all argue and debate with the fuck faced shit wads. I have them all on ignore. There seems to be some obsession, for example, of “catching” soph in an obvious lie. Why even read soph? I ignore soph, fishwrap, pacificat, a few others…
Why read and debate? It’s a lost cause and *exactly* what they want you to do.
You make these shitheads happy every time you challenge them. That’s what these losers live for. I understand if it makes you feel better to point out their foibles but it’s not necessary. They *know* their foibles. They feed off your rebuttals.
That’s why I have them on ignore.

I’m thinking that Bowker could be back up, on the plane with Edlefsen and Bumgarner. Nate isn’t giving them enough, and even if he just pinch hits, BowWow is a better fit now than Nate is… Downs is already back in Fresno, BTW, hit a HR tonight to “celebrate”. Up: Edlefsen, Bumgarner, Bowker
Out: Runzler ( he’ll be back), Nate, Bautista

Do you think those moves are pending, or are they more of what you wish they would do? Bum wins his seventh straight decision, and Edlefsen is sporting a 1.16 ERA and a WHIP south of that. Why the hell they aren’t here already is beyond me. The pen is a bigger problem than most realize, and the fact that the club gives the indication that it thinks otherwise distresses me even more.

It’s my duty, and that of all other sane and sentient adults, to battle the voices of darkness to a standstill. The doomers are the living dead, clumsy and stoopid, but they have the numbers… the voices of reason must be clarion and firm in resolute battle against those who would take our toys away…”
