A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Ugly Game, Moving On, and Some Other Stuff…

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 24, 2010

Baggs posted some horrific Molina stats in his “post game notes” blog last night: he’s scored 1 run since May 16th (26 starts). That’s astounding…..
I also wanted to highlight a blog thread I put up last May 27th at the old blog:
http://oneflapdown77.blogspot.com/2010/05/roy-oswalt.html
It seems that close to a month later Baggs saw fit to post nearly the exact same thing with Bochy agreeing with me. Not sure what to make of that. I know, I know, I’m NEVER allowed to agree with Bochy although in this case he’s agreeing with me. The horror! Of course, here at The Flap, we’re always AT LEAST 3 weeks ahead of everyone else when it comes to kicking around a good baseball topic 🙂
This is really a huge game today. And I am worried that our guys might be looking past it with the big “Boston/Dodgers” home stand coming up. We HAVE to take 2 of 3 from these guys. It’s not life or death or *must win*, but this is a big game today….
by the way, I’m sure most of you recognize the POTG picture. Here’s that chick’s blog entry about that moment It’s long, but a cute story and nice insight into what a cool ass dude Torres is:

Well…still a lot of ball to play…they are in striking distance now.

Amazing they didn’t make a play on Bengie. Sounds like they would have had a good shot at him.

Need another quick shut-down inning and back to the plate.

    Errrrrrrrk . . .

  7. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on June 24, 2010 at 1:37 pm

Runzler rates as a humongous disappointment thus far. Expected something from him based on what we saw in his brief time last year. Who knew he couldn’t throw a strike this year.

Muave Netbook will go to the boy…Pink Netbook will go to the eldest girl…but those two extra runs really kill me. I dont see the Sox or Bastardos blanking us in any of the upcoming games…

Shit. Went down hacking at least. Made it interesting after being down 6-0.
2-4 road trip. They still cannot be counted on to win consistently away from AT&T.

OK, gentlemen, bold prediction time. We now stand at 39-32 with 17 to go before the break. What’s our record gonna be at the All-Star Game? I need to think this one over myself, maybe try and reschedule the opponents somewhat. This shit isn’t gonna be easy.

  54. Kevin's avatar Kevin said, on June 24, 2010 at 2:41 pm

Uribe’s last at bat wasn’t exactly a thing of beauty, he was trying to win it with one swing!! They need to show more patience on the road. IMO. Chi, I almost got my come back win, winning run at the plate!!

  55. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 24, 2010 at 2:44 pm

Rohand looked pretty good. He’d look better if he were wearing a Stros unform…

  56. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 24, 2010 at 2:50 pm

*Rowand* can get hot and it improves the defense if he and Torres are both in. That means Buster has to catch, of course.

  57. zumarust's avatar zumarust said, on June 24, 2010 at 2:55 pm

Some folks were going right at Uribe with some fastballs in this series. He’s probably just a tad tired, and the bat’s a little bit slower at the moment. Hopefully he catches a second wind during the home series.

  58. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 24, 2010 at 2:55 pm

I might even let Rohand start more if it meant Molina sits. He needs to be traded. The dude is even bigger and slower than last year. Posey needs to catch and get settled in before the stretch drive, that’s all there is to it…

  59. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on June 24, 2010 at 3:01 pm

Bochy said Buster will begin to catch at least once through the rotation. That’s still three short if ya ask me.

We have the prime time game on Fox Saturday and I can’t believe we’re gonna trot out Joe Martinez. What better time than to showcase the baseball community our rich young talent by promoting Bum and having Buster in the squat for that game. It would be a goddamn slam dunk if the ball was in my court.

  60. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 24, 2010 at 3:08 pm

Unlike Room B’s fair haired boy, Rowand is a run producer when he gets hot.

  61. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 24, 2010 at 3:13 pm

Posey is the future. Molina may not even be here after July 31, and certainly won’t be clogging up the bases next Spring. Posey needs to play and play, that’s what you do with a #1 pick. I’ll check the NASA site for the next lunar eclipse. It happens about as often as when Rohand “gets hot”….

  62. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 24, 2010 at 3:19 pm

Posey will play, that’s a given. Rowand doesn’t fucking impact that. We should be worrying about how to get Ishikawa at bats.

Hey dudes. Been down for the count with some awful stomach flu. Missed the gm. At least they came back a little that counts for something; especially when they’re about to face a very good road team like Boston. I’m off bumgarner starting against them, tho I will be at that gm. The sox are destroying LH pitching this yr

On the road, no DH and in *our* park make the Sox mere mortals vs a lefty.

interesting by the W’s. We need so much I’m fine with a shot blocker. Not picking Monroe is another sign that Nelson’s done with the team as coach……

  71. Flavor's avatar bigflavor said, on June 24, 2010 at 5:23 pm

Denny– Don’t get me wrong, my last game was the Posey game. If my next one was Bumgarner I’d feel pretty fortunate. But Boston is KILLING pitching on the road this year. Same with lefties. And the only guy who is gonna sit is Big Papi who can’t hit lefties anyway so it’s not like their lead leading team OPS on road and vs lefties takes much of a hit with him sitting. Fuck it, throw Joe out there and hope for the best…..

    No way of knowing
    Which way it’s going,

Hope for the best, expect the worst,

  73. zumarust's avatar zumarust said, on June 24, 2010 at 5:55 pm

Well, in major league baseball the deck is stack for sure. The funny thing is, reading that book “1921,” it’s the same as it ever was. The Yankees had more money than anyone else. Fortunately the Giants were able to win the World Series that year. The NY Giants were one of the richer teams in those days, too. Who knows how much money the SF Giants have? It’s a mystery shrouded in a riddle.

Yeah, zum, I object to the way the Giants are always crying “poor”. They got money! I tell you it’s a travesty. It’s a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham.
