Heart Attack #2 Coming Up Today
I would have made Santiago Casilla the POTG but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. That inning was just too horrific. But what an AMAZING performance he gave last night. He had NO IDEA where the ball was going early on in that inning. How Bochy decided to stay with him vs V-Mart still remains an unknown to me. The only thing I can think of is that Mota wasn’t ready yet and he didn’t want to feed Runzler to him since he devours lefties. Somehow, someway, Casilla got out of that inning….
Wilson had a pretty run of the mill 9th, didn’t he? Did you catch the moment when Franchez approached him before he faced McDonald? He was giving him some kind of very direct encouragement, it almost looked like he was yelling at him. Then, when the game was over, the camera was panning underneath a walking Wilson in the line of high-fives and all of a sudden Wilson screams out “FUUUCCCKKKK!!!!!” right as Franchez approached him to high five him. Franchez froze for a second and then high fived him. Not sure if he screamed that out at that moment on purpose or if that was just a primal, random release of frustration. Go back and watch it if you have it DVR’d…..
I can’t wait for the game today. World Cup at a friend’s house and then we hit the game. No clue whatsoever on how Bumgarner is going to do today. Pedroia has got to be hobbled from that foul ball last night, he’ll either be out of the line up or worthless. In fact, s a team, Boston is dealing with a lot of injuries. The only guys Bum really has to worry about are V-Mart and Youk. If he can somehow avoid giving up bombs to those guys he might have a chance today. Either way, today is going to be E-F-U-C-K-I-N-G-L-E-C-T-R-I-C. Can’t wait…..
Yogi?
Yeah.
I don’t know, I’d guess yes. Probably minor morals things. Just taking a piss, didn’t know about the kids, that kind of thing.
Hurtful things to small animals comes to mind as well
Yeah, Pablo came within a few feet of 2 HRs. what was total distance, I wonder?
Bum was pretty effective, and teams seeing him for the first time aren’t going to like going up there, or walking back to the dugout. He and posey should be a permanent tandem.
Tomorrow

Yesterday, btw, was the birthday
of Eddie floyd

Sf sends Fucking boston packing on a sour note
Just read Baggarly’s post game notes, Bum finished up even stronger than I had previously thought. Retired 16 of the final 17 he faced. Needed just 22 pitches his last two frames. 96 total thru seven. Pretty impressive considering the early trouble. Bochy plans for he and Buster to be teamed the rest of the way. Good news all around. Except for that minor detail of losing the damn game. Go get ’em tomorrow.
Hey folks, just got in from the big city.
First of all, thanks for the link, BF, but I have to admit I haven’t gotten around to getting on Facebook yet. I need to do that one of these days.
As for the game, the weather was nice. It got kind of cold in the last couple of innings, but not too bad. My nephew and I had fun today. The Giants didn’t win, but it was a fun day at the ballpark.
The pregame ceremony honoring Monte Irvin was pretty terrific. And, as we all know, that Jon Miller is pretty cool. He goes up there with a sheet with some notes on it, and he takes one look at his notes, and launches into a wonderful speech, never looking at the notes again, and never flubbing a word in his speech.
The Giants brought in all the living former Giants who have had a number retired- Juan Marachal, Gaylord Perry, Orlando Cepeda, Willie McCovey, Willie Mays, Rich Aurelia….OK, just kidding on that last one.
Mays’ speech was brief, but very heartfelt and well done. Irvin gave a speech also, and said his one regret in baseball was never getting to play for the Giants in San Francisco.
The low point of the preceedings was a video message from Bud Selig. Yuck.
I read what y’all had to say about the game, and don’t have much to add except just an overall concern for Torres and Uribe. They’re slumping at this very critical moment in the season. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve been terrific; but we need some more terrific from them in the coming weeks.
Sandoval, Sandoval….What a difference between righthanded and lefthanded. He hit two of the hardest hit balls I’ve ever seen, from the leftside. In fact, I’m going to go ahead and say that ball he hit off the rightfield wall is the hardest hit ball I’ve seen since the Bonds glory years. It was just a blur off his bat that you could barely see, if at all. In fact, a guy sitting near me said he didn’t see it. It was going too fast.
Very disappointing that the leadoff double from Freddy was wasted in the 7th. It just seemed such a turning point.
Bumgarner settled down and got locked into a steady rhythm. He works pretty slowly, but it seems to throw the batters off. And he has good control. Unfortunately he grooved a fastball to Cameron, and that made the difference.
The Red Sox fans near me actually were fairly quiet when Bumgarner started mowing the Sox down over several innings. They got fired up again finally when Cameron made that great catch.
I feel good about the Giants earning respect this weekend. The Giants gave a good account of the themselves today on national TV, with a rookie pitcher out there.
A big positive was that the Giants burned through a lot of the Boston bullpen today. That could have a big effect tomorrow.
One other thing- that magazine the Giants sell at the games is pretty interesting each month. The June issue has an article about Huff. I didn’t know anything about his personal life. Did you all know that his father was a policeman who was killed in the line of duty? His mother did a heroic job of raising him and supporting his interest in baseball.
That was pretty funny stuff TF said about the animals reacting to him shouting at the TV set during a Giants game. When I do that, my dog gets this confused look like- “Are you talking to me? Are you talking to me? What did I do?”
In those situations, my dog just wants to know: “WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO?”
I can’t stand listening to dipshits on KNBR anymore. They only solidify the fact that The Flap has the smartest baseball/Giants fans.
Example: woman caller called in to say (basically) that Sabean is a bad gm and Epstein is God because “Epstein spends money to pit the product on the field and Sabean doesn’t”. Yes. Let’s compare, shall we?
Uribe vs. Scutaro?
Cameron vs. Torres?
Lackey vs. Wellemeyer? (consider the money, whose worth is closer to their contract?)
Extending Papelbon with Bard there?
Throw in Huff vs. Bill Hall and it is clear Sabean had a much better offseason and didn’t have to break the bank to “put a product on the field”. Then she starts babbling about how Sabean should take after Ricky Branch, like baseball hasn’t changed since he was a GM.
Honestly, a rountable discussion of the Flappers analayzing all these rediculous phone calls would make for better radio than Marty Lurie just agreeing with anything any caller says.
Another caller thought Bumgarner looked “shaky” and didn’t deserve the 5th spot.
HE GOT 16 OF THE FINAL 17 BATTERS OUT!
I’ll take that as a “shaky” outing every fucking time.
Agree Cal . . . That caller was delusional. Bumgarner was initially hit hard by baseball’s highest scoring team, surrending two homers and four runs through two. However, he calmed down the rest of the way. Maintaining noticeable poise over the next five innings, he allowed just one hit. Overall, he coaxed 10 groundball outs. Despite earning the loss, his final line was very admirable (7 IP, 4 ER, 5 K, 1 BB, 5 HA).
Looking for GMen to kick ass today 🙂
