For all the thrills and excitement of last night’s game, this one is like getting teeth pulled . . .

  2. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:00 pm

Velez is gonna hit a PH homer tonight, I just feel it. If he ever gets up that is.

  3. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:01 pm

Last year, shoetops was his zone, and he squared up. This year, shoetop swings = outs. His hits in the 2nd half have been mostly on good pitches to hit. Tonight is a regression to first half PandaPoo…

  4. Unca Chuck's avatar Unca Chuck said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:02 pm

Well, Panda did in the 6th what he should have done in the 4th.

  5. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:08 pm

7 innings, 5 hits, only 1 run. No way a year ago I would have predicted Zito would do this. 2 years ago, I’d say you needed a straight jacket to predict this. Put his last start with this one, you’ve got some seriously good starts. When he’s on now, he’s pretty damn good. I’d keep him in for the 8th until somebody smokes a line drive or he walks somebody…

Hey, this guy for the Dodgers has a shutout going. Can you believe that?
    A shutout, like no runs.

  7. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:11 pm

Some failed opportunities and some bad luck as well. It happens. Still another inning with 3 guys who can all go deep..

    Dang.

    one more pitch

  11. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:19 pm

OK-let’s get it straight now-whatever ensues, Romo is the correct call here.

  12. Unca Chuck's avatar Unca Chuck said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:19 pm

Got to say, I like the pissed off Barry better than Bubble boy.

Who was Krukow calling a clown?

Bummer for Zits. He’s had some excellent starts this year.

    Ahhh. Beach ball guy . . .

  15. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:21 pm

This is where Room B doesn’t get it. Bochy has made the proper decision. Whether Romo gets out of this unscored on or he gives up a 3 run dinger,it is STILL the right call.

  16. Unca Chuck's avatar Unca Chuck said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:22 pm

    No shit. . . .

  17. Bozo's avatar Bozo said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:29 pm

Fuck it. Just put on the pick off play now and bean Bowa.

  19. JBat's avatar JBat said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:29 pm

Who’s arguing the point, Twin? It’s a bummer for any pitcher when he goes 7.1 IP, gives up a run and either loses or gets no decision.

  20. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:30 pm

We’ve hit 3 or 4 balls like the one Blake just got, they just carried further.

  21. zumarust's avatar zumarust said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:32 pm

Like some others have said before, it’s real hard for the Giants to have real long win streaks. Their offense can be completely shut down on any given night, so we never see 7 or 8 game winning streaks. Our path to the playoffs has to come with getting lots of smaller win streaks, which is a harder path to the playoffs, but doable.

  22. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:33 pm

John, I didn’t say anyone was arguing it. I just wanted to get the point in before the outcome. Often we get people bitching about the decision after they’ve seen how it turns out.

  23. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:33 pm

    11 of 14 works, Z..

  24. JBat's avatar JBat said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:35 pm

They don’t need long winning streaks if they play like they have the last ten days or so. Ripping off 25 of 35 or something like that would be great, and I think they’re good enough to do it.

  25. Unca Chuck's avatar Unca Chuck said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:35 pm

The bitch is the line up everybody (for the most part) cringed over, scored 7 runs. The one everybody WANTED gets skunked.

    SKUNKED I tell you . . .

    Fuck, Panda . . .

On to Arizona, and keep the solid second half going.

Bochy needs to sit Panda again. He’s back in Poo Land. Throw him curvy shit down low early, he swings himself into a ground out, or else he swings himself behind in the count, then throw high cheese – he can’t lay off for the strikeout or pop up. Simple. They won the series. It’s cool. Go to Phoenix, take 3 of 4, it’s a very good trip…

  46. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:55 pm

One poor game since the break and Panda should sit? Bullshit. First guy to sit right now should be Freddy. And with all the bitching about Huff sitting last night, he hasn’t had an RBI in almost two weeks. Actually, I wouldn’t mind seeing Velez at 2B, we know he can get smokin’…

  47. Unca Chuck's avatar Unca Chuck said, on July 21, 2010 at 9:55 pm

Snarkk, are you fucking for real? Panda has a bad night, so he’s benched?

    Bullshit.

Uribe is the guy due for a rest. He’s not driving anything. He hasn’t homered in a month.

  48. zumarust's avatar zumarust said, on July 21, 2010 at 10:12 pm

The thing with Franchez is, if he’s just going to be a slap-hitter now, then is that good enough? I don’t think he’s a #2 hitter anymore then. I’m not saying bench him, but he’s no better than a #7 or #8 hitter now. They might need to look at sticking Rent back up there. He’s a more dangerous hitter than Freddie at the moment. Or Schierholtz there against righties.

  49. San Dog's avatar San Dog said, on July 21, 2010 at 10:35 pm

I agree that Freddie “Dink Dink” Sanchez ain’t doing much for us right now, but I worry about the alternatives. I’m down with Nate getting that spot against lefties, but as for Rent….I’d rather just stick with Franchez.

    Latest from Baggs:

With 10 days to go before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, the Giants continue to touch base with some clubs while aggressively seeking matches with others.
Despite one report that linked the Giants to Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista, the major league leader with 26 home runs, sources said the Giants were more focused on Washington Nationals hitters Adam Dunn and Josh Willingham.
They also continue to keep tabs on Kansas City Royals outfielder David DeJesus, who is considered a tremendous fit because of his solid, two-way skills. But the asking price remained too high.

What about the extra arm I’ve been pining for?

Been watching the PBS American Masters on Merle Haggard. There’s a real room divider… if he’s just a shit kicker “from Muskogee”.. we’re on a different wave length. If you think him an American giant, a poet, we’re a little closer…
