What a Day
There’s very little I can add to what I was part of last night. I’ve never been to anything like it. Sorry for the late post, I got home very late and had to wake up very early. I put 2 videos up below. Here’s a picture of me and Pawlie who i met before the game. Great guy.

Mrs. James has grown angry with my merciless whooping and bellowing laughter. I told her “It’s only 2 games. I order you not to feel an ounce of pity for these cocksuckers. There is no such thing as momentum.”
If Tx can take the biggest breath they -may- get one game at home
I will admit it I was worried that the Giants would score only 1-2 runs tonight, I thought they used up all there offense last night!!
Something is wrong with the blog . . . comments are not loading.
Ballgame! We’re up 2-0, baby. We’re up 2-0 in the World Series. Goddamn if that doesn’t sound fantastic.
Half-way home boys!!!
Who are these guys?!?!?!
Woo-Hoo!!!!!
I think it’s so cool they brought Manny Mota out of retirement to finish this thing off. I mean, with a 9 run lead, sure but I feel…what?…huh…
Oh
Never mind
All they have to do is win 2 more from these guys.
I’ve never been happier losing a fine computer/contest as I am now
Nothing like a nice lil 9-run lead to provide a bit of Motavation. But this one belongs to THE HORSE ~ and all those unrecognized, underrated Giants hitters. Tonight, like last night, they have taken TORTURE to a whole new level.
Wonder how all those pundits, prognosticators and Poobahs are gonna explain this one away. They sure do got a whole lotta splainin to do. Maybe listening to a bit of Diana Ross and the Supremes would help:
R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
I’m not down with jinxes. I don’t believe in bad luck or superstition. We’re up 2-0 and I am calling it now: This shit is over…..
WTF are you doing? You never, I mean NEVER call this shit until it’s over. Dr. Trotter, a Dr. Jay Trotter would never do such a thing. Me, Looney, Vickie, Pam and Cheeseburger reverse your jinx. This shit ain’t over till we say it’s over. [God willing, no jinx]
I f you can’t cut the 5 of clubs, then we’ll talk.
Twin, how ’bout I just buy the mother fucking computer off you. I suck at this shit. I’m the worst computer-contest contestant of all time. I loath myself……
When that shot to center (Kinsler) bounced BACK to the field early on for a double, and not over for a homer, I thought that it was a definite sign that something strong for the Gyros was going on. Unbelievable game.
POTG: Cain. That was a MAN out there.
POTG#2: Rent. WTF? Has he been takin something? Did he go down to Tijuana and visit some fountain of youth? Great D, great ABs, a dinger, 2 run single. Beautiful…
Matt will get POTG but it’s really Edgar… I cannot begin to express how happy I am for him.
I give Nate credit for starting the walkathon!!
Right there with you Twin
Loved that hit and seeing Bruce play him.
Wadda team
Thought i heard alittle Joe Walsh with his old band James Gang singing Walk Away to Ron Washington as they head for their buses!!!
Twin, I agree with you, Rent is POTG. Cain did his thing, it’s so expected that it somehow loses some of its *epicness*. I’ve said many times, Renteria is historic in his clutch play in the PS. Torn bicep? No problem. He carried us tonight. He won the game for us…….
Agree Flav . . . THIS IS OVER.
I think Henry Ford said, “If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can’t, you’re right.” If the Giants lose this Series it will be a monumental collapse of epic proportions. Giants are playing hungry and the Rangers are . . . umm, uhh, ehh . . . Not certain what game they’re playing.
Uh, not to be a buzzkill, but this shit is NOT OVER. I guarantee you the players aren’t thinking that way. They damn well better not be thinking that way. Two more, and we’ll take ’em one at a time.
Nate and Ishikawa have been two of the best role players in the game this year. I’ve said it before, for two guys who hoped to be regulars, they’ve been just magificent in adjusting to reduced opportunities. The’ve been key key key…
And seeing Franchez hit like the player we traded 4
Tx beat the 2 best teams in the AL, we beat the 2 best teams in the NL
And people say the AL is the better league
Way to go SF
Of all the hundreds of things that have happened this year that have pleasantly surprised the HELL out of me, Rent playing this well might top the list. I’d written him off about 10 times.
“I wrote her off for the 10th time today, and practiced all the things that I’d say. She came over—and I lost my nerve. I took her back and made her dessert”
Offspring…
San Dawg, I’ve said it before, we are like long lost brothers. Hope things are good for you.
Since Flav doesnt believe in superstition I feel alright about posting again…My computer crashed months ago and the Giants were playing mediocre ball. The more I stayed away from the Flap, the better the Giants played…I even locked my Lincecum ball in my desk during his midseason slump and all of a sudden he returned to form…In fact I havent pulled it out yet.
Been browsing for weeks, no make that months, and now Iam back…I couldn’t stay away one moment longer…Just booked a hotel room in DFW for Sat night…Bout a 4hr drive from my Houston digs…Lets hope these outrageous ticket prices drop now that the Rangers are in an 0-2 hole…Anyway, off to bed…Missed y’all…If the Giants blow this lead, dont blame Bochy or Sabean, blame me.
Good to see ya back Wilco . . . Stick around, the water is warm.
Only in that one spot over by Bozo….
Great to hear from you again Wilco…Giants will drive a stake deep in the Heart of Texas by the time this weekend ends!
There should be a ratio of World Series success to rest of career success, let’s call it WORLDSROCS. Renteria may have the highest WORLDSROCS in the history of MLB because he’s unreal in the WS and prety much sucks the rest of the time. I wonder who else might have a high WORLDSROCS: the immortal Bernardo Carbo comes to mind, huge in ’75, and Dave Hendu Henderson, big both in ’89 for the As & in the ill-fated ’86 series for Boston. I also recall a guy named Brian Doyle who had a big series in ’78 for the Evil Empire. Renteria takes the cake, though, because he’s so maddeningly overpaid and mediocre 99.9% of his baseball life, yet is magic during the WS.
*Jon’s Bro*— Outstanding post. There needs to be a metric that measures post season vs regular season production. Thanks for the post, snoop around the blog, you might like it. 🙂
Interesting idea, but the guy is a .287 lifetime hitter over 15 seasons, and he’s hit as high as .330. That is not mediocre!
Fair enough, JBat. I’m a bit BoSox-centric, and he stunk for us! 🙂
I’m good man—thanks. Haven’t had as much time to hang on the blog since school started, but I’ve been keeping an eye on things and enjoying the ride.
And the HALLOWEEN MACHINE just keeps on a rolling through their Black and Orange October.
What a fantastic valediction for Edgar. There’s been talk of retiring after the season. If he does, what a way to go out.
Whole danged team has become something else again. They started accumulating characters and in the process developed a team character which has rarely been matched in the annals of the game. No quit in this bunch. You don’t know which one is gonna make you pay. They keep picking each other up.
If it comes down to the last game of the series and the Giants have a nice lead i would not feel at all bad about Vern and Vera’s boy pinch-running ~ or even pinch-hitting! for the Players’ Choice ROY. Be something to tell his grandkids. And V & V will be so proud!
Welcome back Joe. I truly and honestly have missed your posts. I hope you stick around. 2 more wins, dude. 2 more wins…….
Good to hear from you Wilco. I kinda did the same thing. They were playing so damn well when I wasn’t posting that I told myself to just keep lurking and don’t mess with the groove.
Speaking of Bernie Carbo….I took my kids to Magic Mountain last week and we spent the night in a hotel that had ESPN Classic—which I don’t have. They were showing Game 7 of the ’75 WS. My 13 year old got a huge kick out of that—the funky graphics, fans jumping onto the field to grab foul balls and then quickly hopping back into their seats with no repercussions, Pete Rose diving into 3rd, the umps funny detached chest protector. and Bob Montgomery pinch-hitting wearing the funky padded hat—not really a helmet.
That’s awesome, San Dog. I grew up in Boston in the 70s. Fenway was a fairly wild & unruly place in those days. Seat assignments were fluid, bleacher seats were $2 (now pushing $30), the mens rooms had huge troughs instead of urinals (a scary thing for a 7 year-old), and the fans were ruthless. Years later, decades even, the old timers still booed Larry Barnett for the infamous Armbrister call in Game 3.
I’m a Bosox fan, but go Giants – great team of nobodies. Gotta love ’em.
It sounds funny now, but before the Sox broke through and won that first series, I thought the Sox and Giants were kind of parallel franchises. Both were glamor clubs with several superstar players, but neither had won it all in a long time.
how bout you two dudes stop this dancy, stammering, lurking shit and just come back and post regularly? We miss you guys, this is our time, celebrate it with us……..
Will do. But if things fall apart—we blame it all on Wilco.
Welcome back Wilcojoe. Glad you’re with us again. Recalling back in ’56 and me and my best baseball buddy at the age of 12 caught us a ride to the next town in this brand new Black and Pink ’56 Ford. Shorty was a big Yankees fan and my love affair with the NY Giants was already a couple years old. We went to see a movie featuring James Dean. It was set in Texas. Name of the flick was GIANT.
So you see, i do have something nice to say about that state and i hope y’all get to watch some GIANT STRIDES as the Halloween Machine rolls on down to a date in Dixie.
Thanks guys! It’s been a helluva year…The best is yet to come.
TF, you are right about Nate and Ishi, you can see it all the players want to win, they are playing as a team, no egos!
Did you guys hear the Huffster crack open a cold one while he’s being interviewed?
That is smooth. This entire team is smooth.
Craig, I’m not doing this to sell PCs. Don’t worry about it, I’ll take care of you.
( Ominous sounds in the dark)…
ccccwwwWWWWAAAAHHHHOOOWWWWooouuuuuu
(Sound effects via….typing)
13 for 26 w/RISP. Goddamn is that clutch.
You guys have got to check this out! For those who don’t know, The Onion is a satirical newspaper, and they nailed this one! (Makes you feel sorry for all those suckers who aren’t watching – well, almost)

Where the hell is the Chuckster? If he’s watching tape of Troy Smith playing at OSU, he picked the wrong night.
Chuck’s in Vegas
Thanks for that Ferrett
And…
Goodnight, gentlemen (?)
Goodnight? Goodnight? it’s almost 12:30 here and I just built another cocktail. did a dial-a-shot with one of my old hangouts. Goodnight? Well, yah maybe you right Ted.
You just “built” another cocktail?? What did you use—-a fucking drill press to pour the whiskey?
You know Dog, there is a lot of care involved, when building a proper cocktail. Well, if throwing ice, booze and mix in a glass can be described as care.
Hear, hear. All great cocktails are “built.” 😀
….actually a great line, Bozo. Gonna start using that expression myself.
It’s been a slice gents—-good night.
Hey! My daughter’s on ESPN. She’s on the opening of Baseball Tonight…
Too cool. Got it taped . . .
Rent withe the game for the ages. IT worked out to perfection to ba able to play him with Sando scuffling. Uribe slides over, they don’t miss a beat.
Cain had one bad pitch. Kinsler missed it by THAAAAAAAAAAAAAT much.
Forty of the previous 51 teams to take a 2-0 lead have gone on to win the title, including seven straight and 13 of the last 14. The last to overcome a 2-0 deficit was the 1996 New York Yankees against Atlanta. The Giants have won each time they took a 2-0 lead: in 1922, 1933 and 1954.
I don’t think Texas is the NY Yankees 🙂
I must have missed the day we signed Ponce de León to be a team consultant. Our senior vets are playing with a newfound youth. I don’t know if it’s something in the water or what. But keep on keeping on. It’s a kid’s game and we’re playing like it. Carry on.
This game will always be remembered for the ball off the wall. Haven’t seen that since Dave Augustine (PIT) did it at Shea in the ’73 pennant race. Someone got thrown at at home on that play.
I have evey game this year and I’ll know I’ll watch at least 101 of them again… 103 sounds better..
out-fucking-standing. was in a coaches meeting with the game on in the background. not sure what we agreed to but the game was great.
The only thing that sucked worse than Rangers’ bullpen tonight is … McCarver and Buck’s announcing. Gigantes!
Good night all. What a start. But it IS just a start…Sleep well Edgar, Aaron… who was it that mocked the Gamer and said Huff blew him off this year? Shame on you. They love Rowand and he’s been nothing but class…
I didn’t read through all the posts and I’m sure this subject has already been well dissected, but it looks like everybody’s picks for Twin’s computer are shot. Or maybe pretty close.
I picked 20 G’s runs for the whole series (winning in 5). No ‘puter for MrBill. pffft.
The G’s just thoroughly uuuused Rangers bullpen for batting practice tonight. Gawd I think I’ve seen frat parties with kinder endings.
From the Onion:
“The worst thing about this World Series is that with the outstanding ability of the Giants and Rangers to hit, run, and field, and with no real asshole to root against, it just feels like a celebration of baseball,” Paul Rockwell of Uniontown, PA told reporters. “And that sucks. Do you know why that sucks? Because I’m a horrible, shallow person, and while I like to think of myself as a fan, I only get off on storylines and personalities completely unrelated to the game itself.”
“That’s why I kind of wish Barry Bonds were still playing,” he added. “Everyone would watch that.”
MagnusFlavoris,
Yes and yes and yes and thanks and you too and awesome and I can’t calm down and yikes.
