What a Day
There’s very little I can add to what I was part of last night. I’ve never been to anything like it. Sorry for the late post, I got home very late and had to wake up very early. I put 2 videos up below. Here’s a picture of me and Pawlie who i met before the game. Great guy.

Looks like a great time! And your seats were perfect to see Uribe’s shot coming right your way! Nice to put a face to another name, too.
GO GIANTS!!
No need to apologize, Flav. Great fly over video and great you were able to meet up with Pawlie
You two lucky son of a guns brought the team 11 runs and a big W in Game 1. Go back and do it again tonight. I know 11 runs might be asking for much—I’ll settle for 10 tonight.
Guys. Sorry about that, but i got a longish posting right at the end of the previous thread. It’s maybe ok, but a bit longish. Surprise. Surprise.
Flav: Seeing you standing next to Pawlie, i now understand why you adopted your handle. Good thing you didn’t grow up in one of the little backwoods towns up this way. They would have recruited you for sure for one of those nine-man football teams in H.S. and you might have totally missed out on getting a decent baseball edumacation.
I read it, stix, it’s a good post
I don’t perceive the bias that many do. Baseball IS a working class, middle and eastern America game. It always has been. For ratings and perceptions to change, it must start with MLB, that’s not on TV: revenue sharing is a joke, regional regular season broadcasts are not mandated, the season ends 3 weeks late.. even with change, though, it’s just not the world it was when baseball was the national sport. If your children appeciate the beauty of it, you’ve passed on a great gift…
Very well put

Okay, that is high-larious! Not marijuana, not pot – nope this guy seems to know what he’s talking about “sniff, sniff – that’s weed”.

Dirt…That was awesome! Timmy toking the fatty at 1:06 Fuck Yeah!
Didn’t I post this video already before the NLCS? Or am I high?
I’m articulate when I’m fucked up.
I popped a couple of Neurontin and Vicodin and just filled out my absentee ballot.
I think I voted for Reagan again.
Same delicious soup as last night.:
Torres CF Sanchez 2B Posey C Burrell LF Ross RF Huff 1B Uribe 3B Renteria SS Cain RHP
No Vlad, no Bengie and NO Whitey.
Andrus SS Young 3B Hamilton CF Cruz RF Kinsler 2B Murphy LF Treanor C Moreland 1B Wilson LHP
Dang Dennis..I fully expected Washington to announce the position Vlad was gonna play was the Ball dude…
Is it possible that the Giants had a good idea about what kind of ballgame Bengie might call? They absolutely pounced on Lee and the relievers.
It seems like an odd choice to rest Bengie after he had such a good night last night.
Matt Treanor caught CJ Wilson in the ALCS series so maybe he’s his personal catcher.Trivia Q Did you guys and gals know that Treanor is married to Misty May the 2 time gold medalist volleyball player?
I knew that one because I watched a lot of beach volleyball during the olympics. You know, because I’m really into the sport.
I think Bengie needs a blow after scoring on that sac fly . . .
Check out Chuckles dishing out the zinger. Blind squirrel meet nut. Nut, meet Mr. Rocket J. Squirrel.
Sorry, couldn’t pass it up . . .
chuck– I didn’t check into the scalpers for you. Too much going on. I didn’t actually see anyone selling tickets, almost everyone was looking for them.
Yeah, I heard in the papers that people were trying to score 2 tix for $1,000 and not getting any takers.
Damn . . .
I’ll look at stubhub, but I ain’t too excited about the prospects.
Looks like a lot of tickets available on stubhub, actually.
Why too much. $1,000 for 2 SRO seats?
I want to go, but not that badly . . .
I heard in the papers?
OK, I heard it through the grapevine . . .
The game last night was weird and wild and very satisfying. Much celebration at my house when Uribe blew the thing out of the water with his 5th inning bomb. It was hard to focus on the details at the time (for some of the players, as well, it seemed). But there were details.
The Giants took the first pitch against Lee a lot last night. When they did swing on the first pitch, they got two hits: (1) Sanchez hit his broken-bat double in the first inning on the first pitch he saw, and (2) Torres smacked his fifth inning double on the first pitch he saw at that AB. Otherwise, nada. In particular: (3) Renteria swung at and missed the first pitch he saw in the third inning, (4) as did Torres. (5) Uribe fouled off the first pitch he saw in the fourth. (6) And Huff fouled of the first pitch he saw in the fifth — a few pitches before General Lee gave up a single and surrendered for the night.
So — 24 first pitches, 18 takes, for 9 balls and 9 strikes. Or so my quick look analysis tells me. Sounds like a well executed (if excruciatingly torturous to watch) plan to raise the pitch count. Wonder if they’ll show such restraint tonight? CJ Wilson can be a bit wild.
Xoot…Yeah they should show some patience against Wilson. He’s the AL version of our own Jonathan Sanchez. If the G’s work the counts right ,he’ll be another starter that won’t last past the 5th.
It’s a plan that should work most of the time against any pitcher who isn’t consistently hitting and getting the calls at the margins of the strike zone, i.e., any pitcher who’s not throwing an exceptional game. How many times do you see a pitcher knocked out of the box with a low pitch count?
Wadda team, wadda game, wadda blog.
the only thing that would have been better for me would have to been there for a garlic fry with U2.
Half-ta say, being the only fan for miles around at 3am cheering on the HD big screen is a slice of heaven in October for this Bay Area lad. saw a fan with her radio in the stands listening to our announcers made me a bit jealous.
Oh, and CHARACTER, don’t forget, drives this team. mf-in’ yes.
What? Whoa, Shit!, ok,ok, YES!! (my summary of the first five innings)
2 hours till game time:
Go Giants!
From today’s paper:
Washington insisted those misplays will not make him reconsider the plan to use Guerrero in right in games played in San Francisco.
Uh-huh
Big Bad Vladdy Daddy
Except for the fact he’s not in the lineup tonight, he’s right . . .
Yes but it still comes off funny
Bochy has one of the great non-answers of all time to the media. When asked about whether a certain player will play much or not, Bochy will sometimes say: “Yeah, he’s one of our guys.” When you think about it, that answer doesn’t mean anything. But it SOUNDS like it means something. Brilliant.
Couple of things from last night:
there were ridiculously long, noticeable breaks in between innings. It was annoying as hell……
Vlad looked AWFUL in right field, maybe the worst I’ve ever seen. ….
After Uribe hit his bomb I ran through the tunnel into a bathroom and screamed (and I have an absurdly loud voice): “Uribe Fuck Yeah!!!!!” like three times as loud as I could. There was a kid at the urinal who started crying, I felt sorta bad about that……
You gotta be careful around little kids now that you’re sporting the Wilson Whiskers
Timmeh screamed the same thing in the dugout. The teens with the “Timmy, Marry Me” signs were not discouraged…
So my total runs is 18, but that is alright, as long as they win the WS!! GO GIANTS, if they continue to score like last night no one is going to have the right numbers!! Which is way cool!!
And Fruckie is more on target for the number of hits I guessed for Posey.
Which is also way cool
Face it getlemen, do not play cards with Bruce Bochy or dominoes with Juan Uribe. They will own you and the children your children bear and the progeny of those, as well.
” The city that he builds shall bear my name, the woman that he loves shall bear my child. So let it be written, so it shall be done.”
Bruce Bochy and Juan Uribe starring as Ramses II and Moses.
Let the name of C. J. Wilson be stricken from every book and tablet, stricken from all pylons and obelisks, stricken from every monument of Baseball. Let the name of Cl. J. Wilson be unheard and unspoken, erased from the memory of men for all time.
BF, so what day would I have to camp out at around one of the Bars near the park. I think I want to be at least around the park on the day they clinch.
Personally, I don’t know any bars in Arlington
(hooooowaaaaa)
And here I thought you were a world traveler
The guy that needs a couple hits is now Burrell. he’s been looking like shit lately. A big fly off his bat (with a couple on) would feel good tonight.
Last bar I remember in Texas was in Ft. Worth, I was there during an Oklahoma/Texas football weekend maybe 30 years ago. Huge brawl broke out although it seemed de rigeur, hardly unexpected. Guys were bashng other guys with their guitars, then new guitars came out of the cases, shit kicking music started back up and all was well…
Was the band surrounded by chickenwire?
Rawhide!
roadhouse
Only when the Blues Brothers play at Bob’s Country Bunker!
Joe Buck???…That ball carries,as Torres keeps running in to grab it.
Yeah. That or Swayze!!
Lightnin Hopkins, Freddy King, T-Bone Walker and Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown are some of my favorite Texas bluesmen. But when I was there in the late 70s, punk was big in Dallas. In fact, for some reason it seems to me that the photo on the cover of London Calling was shot in Dallas. Not the only famous shot in Big D, of course . . . .
Naw. It was the back cover shot on London Calling that was shot — in Austin. Still. . . .
ESPN. showing Matt Cain. 4 their feature n Bengie is behind, LOL
Nice of the SF Fans 2 cheer him.
Like n Atlanta 4 Cox – class n character
Just wondering . . . Does Ozzie Guillen have marbles in his mouth when he speaks???? I can barely understand him.
Every gaff by Fox announcers gets a beer
A real fuckup gets a shot of Jose.
WooHoo
I can drink a lot but I can’t drink that *fast*
Hahahaha
Love the fire boat
Wasn’t the Blue Angels based n Alameda?
The quake game we would’ve won that one but ….
#18 go baby
I can’t believe Bochy is trotting out the same shitty lineup as last night. Wonders never cease. I suppose next he’ll pinch run NO Whitey in the first for Buster to try get that early one-run lead.
Score first, score early and WIN goddammit. GO HORSE ! !
Careful, measured at-bats against that loogie tonight. His strikes to balls ratio is one of the worst in the game. Couple of the hackiers prolly won’t get the message, but yes, Franchez, Buster, Dragon and The Bat could have some pretty decent A.B.’s against him. I’ll even go out on a limb and predict that between Huff and Burrell there will be three BB’s. Get him outta there early and then go chomping on that DeRangers’ BP.
Hope Matt hasn’t had too much rest and that The Horse hasn’t gotten way deep into the oats. Expect some long fly balls off him and if he keeps it off the inner, middle of the plate those arc-jobs should keep our O.F.s busy shagging and snagging.
Got to be shagging Even while paying attention to the game
Flav, yeah, they are packing in the commercials between innings.
Nice start by Matt . . .
Is that why Bennett had time to sing I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO in the middle of the 2nd inning?
Cain remarked about the extra time in his first postseason start vs the Braves. Said he had to wait in the dugout longer so as to not end up standing on the mound for 45 secs or so after his 8 warm ups doing nothing. Wanted to try and keep his normal routine going.
Well, my daughter’s there. Watching the big screen from outside the park . . .
Grab some pine, Cruz!
This one could go a bit opposite from last night’s affair. May be a tad light on the fireworks. Cain: 10 pitches. Wilson: 15.
Wow. Twenty pitches in 2 innings. Love that efficiency rate. Hope he keeps up that pace for seven more I.P.
The “Machine” could use some WD-40 to unhinged the goddamn bat that is stuck to his shoulders.
Swing the goddamn bat!
CO-DEE!
Never heard it pronounced “G R Deli Square.”
oakies
“Come to Frisco, and Git-R-Done at G R Deli Square.” Hee-haw.
Seattle Slew with a seeing-eye single up the middle.
Instead of suing for lack of run support, Cainer decided to do something with his bat.
Jesus H. Christ did that ball carry. No craps table score again tonight, but somebody needs to roll 4 the hard way.
The pride of Tennessee Matt Cain dealing nasty pitches tonight!Complete control.
Come on now, G-men, let’s score this inning.
Nelson Cruz already paying dividends for the Rangers. Doubt that Vlad makes that play.
Our shitty lineup has “reverted to form.” Burrell still hasn’t put a ball in play; 4 Ks, 2 Ws.
No runs for the Horse, and NO Whitey. Shit, Kinsler missed a HR by a centimeter.
Wow what a break on that flyball.1 inch taller 1HR
WALK him! Thank you.
Tiger Woods would like his balls to bounce that way
Nice play Andre
Welcome to AT&T park Kinsler!! Huff knows how that guy feels. I can remember back in April when Huff hit a couple of fly balls and wondered what he has to do to hit them out!!
Vlady would have likely made the play on both of the drives to right center. Cruz barely had to move. (Those drives were every bit as “unlucky” as Kinsler’s ball, McCarver.) Vlady”s comical problems last night didn’t have anything to do with RF — the one ball he had to go back on, he made the play easily.
That ball Kinsler hit, actually hit on the center of the fence railing, but the backspin brought it back.Amazing.
RENT ! ! !
I love it when we get the lead first. Yeah, baby!
Poor, unlucky Wilson!!!
RentMAN. Anybody in this lineup can hurt you. More clutch from a guy who knows how to do it.
I don’t think Bochy will tinker with the left side of the IF in Tx. Wow.
Renteria is playing like he was 24 again. He’s got a spring back in his step, and a few more in his bat.
Pablo can DH.
when their balls are fucking bouncing off the top of the fence and coming back into the park and Reteria, one of the most clutch post season performers of all time, is hitting bombs…..sorry, but glory and destiny shines upon this team right now…….
Gee-whiz, Renteria hits a HR and only four Flappers comment. Where the heck is everyone?
In case ya haven’t noticed, we’re playing Game 2 of the World Series. Get yer Flap in gear.
I am here, and that was a great shot by Rent!! I said it last night guys are stepping up there play
Awesome pitch by Cain!
HUGE out. One more Horse. Kinsler’s been tough on ya, might wanna pitch around him…
Way to go Cain!!
SHUT DOWN was in full effect. Whew. Keep the momentum in our dugout. I’ll say it again, that was HUGE.
Nice going Mr. Horse.
Guess what Washington…You might think you love facing a power pitcher like Cain. But he feels the same way getting your sorry asses out!Great Pitching beats power hitters.
When the going gets tough that ol’ plow Horse just keeps on a going right through the muck and the mire. Musta been a pretty disheartening inning for the DeRangers, particularly without their enforcers, Vlad and Bengie.
Burrell has seemingly fouled back about a dozen home runs the last few games.
Alright- 3 innings of torture, here we go.
Way to go Shitholtz!
The Big Horse has a one length lead as he passes the 1/8 pole. I wouldn’t mind in the jock busted out the whip and extended the margin by another length or two. I don’t like photo finishes. But goddamn, the Big Horse is running his race. It’s a pleasure to watch him run.
God bless America! That babe was hot, nice sultry rendition.
That ol’ plowHorse just keeps plugging along. Already he’s covered over three-quarters of Texas. That’s a lotta territory.
And another tip of the cap to our trainer, Bruce Bochy. The move to put Ross in LF and insert Shitholtz in RF was golden. Our beloved “Bonehead” has made all the right moves.
