Belt, DocuDrama, Fanfest…..
Schulman is hilarious. He feels the need to spend valuable pixel space on noting that Belt had a 1.075 OPS in the minors last year and then compares that to Votto’s 1.024 OPS in 2010. Yeah, awesome comparison. A plus 1.000 OPS in the minors is nice but comparing it to an MLB OPS is just idiotic………
I’m still all for the docu-drama. West-coast representation. And that’s a hellava crew to handle the show. Huff and Wilson could do the entire goddamn thing by themselves……….
Fanfest— Anyone going?
When I read that article comparing Belt’s minor OPs to this year’s MVP I had a giggle. I guess if the Chrondonicle is writing to joe average BB fan it was right on the mark.
the rest of SF Giants fans know that is no comparison.
the thing I don’t like about the docudrama is that it won’t show in the UK.
and it takes a lot of filming hours to get one good hour to show
and it divides (or intrudes upon) the teammates
and you can’t bet on it.
haha, yes, the no-betting thing is a drag…..
Schulman discounts saberstats even mocking them at times. And then he trots out that ridiculous minors/mlb OPS comparison. Foolish……
I hope for everyone’s sake, Belt is the second coming next to Posey. Still it’s sobering to realize how few position players make a difference for the Giants over the years.
How about we give the Giants credit for a Rookie of the Year that helped them win a World Series last season, and acknowledge that maybe, just maybe things are different for the Giants than they used to be.
OK, I have to start with a – How stupid can a fucking clown be. Not Schulman (although I’m not really a fan of his), but me. I looked at the 10 commandants picture for awhile wondering where the number was.
Speaking of Belt, I don’t know if you guys saw this article http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b83GJ
Who woulda thought The Giants could always find a spot for the kid using him in long relief.
Won’t be coming West for fan day but I’m planning on Opening Day to watch them raise the banner.
And it’s a kick to remember that Posey was also Florida St.’s closer when he was there.
Yeah zum. I guess The Giants got so good at drafting pitchers they just convert them to position players now.
Well, there were 15 commandments, if you believe Mel Brooks . . .
I’ve never been to Fanfest, and am not going to make it this year, either. One of these years, I should go.
It looks like 3 ballgames so far, all Saturday games. The Braves in April, the Mets in July, and the Phillies in August.
My daughters are going. Don’t think I’ll make it this time.
They’d better get pics with the trophy.
Hey Flav, did you decide on Spring Training yet?
Another brilliant choice for the picture, although I was expecting Bo Derek.
You gave me this staff to rule over scorpions and serpents, but God made it a rod to rule over kings. Hear His word, Rameses, and obey.
My ex used to say that to me every night
Well I sure the hell hope you countered with…”You will be my wife. You will come to me whenever I call you, and I will enjoy that very much. Whether you enjoy it or not is entirely your own affair… But I think you will.”
Clown: no
thought about Bo Derek, might pop her and her two beauties up later today
My fanatic son is sleeping out on the AT&T sidewalk with some friends tonight to be first in line to enter the gate tomorrow. Fucking kid acts like he’s 20.
Belt was a pitcher until college. He didn’t come out of HS headed for the starting rotation, like Cain and Bumgarner. He developed in college. But he was never the superstar Posey was (thus, while he got drafted three times in college, the picks were in the 11th round, until the Giants took him in the fifth round, because he’d begun to show more promise at the plate). I can’t really tell if he has those looooong arms that make it tough for tall guys to be quick at the plate. His minor league numbers, however, were impressive last year. (Comparing him to Voto, of course, is just flat out ridiculous. Henry S. must’ve been drunk when he discovered that idea.) Belt really did surprise everyone with his progress. Still, mlb has him ranked about in the middle of the top 50 prospects. (Both Posey and Bumgarner were in the top ten at the start of last season.) Does that reflect uncertainty about whether he’ll continue to develop at the rate he did last year? Probably. So does that mean he may continue to surprise everyone and take off toward ROY starting at the end of March, in L.A.? Maybe. But I wouldn’t bet much on it.
You guys may have seen this, among all the Belt commentary, but I thought it was an interesting, if superficial, overview:

Counselor, better your kid spends the night on the sidewalk waiting to get into the park rather than to see a Star Wars flick.
Not that I know from personal experience — I’ll have you know.
Heck, as a child, I spent the night on the sidewalk outside the Alexandria Theatre to be first in line to see SOYLENT GREEN
I once saw a man come flying out of a bar in Great Falls, Montana, at 8 a.m. He landed on the sidewalk and stayed there, out cold. People strolled past without missing a step.
I camped out on Shattuck in Berkeley to buy a pair of skis once . . .
My daughter’s leaving her dorm at SF State at 4:30 am to get in line tomorrow.
xoot, does your son at least have some hot girls with him? If so you should try to get him to hook me up with some of those hotties
Sweet Moses!! Chuck’s been replaced!!
I just rented Soylent green about 2 months ago.
Great movie. It gets into how global warming kills off the ocean’s ecosystem after the great heat wave of 2012.
Glad that’ll never happen.
“Soylent Green . . . is . . PEEEOPLE!!!” I remember Charlton Heston hosted a contemporaneous paid spot on national TV shortly after Nixon resigned called “Republicans are People, Too.”
Here’s where I would find an image for number 10:

The kid and his friends made it home from college to grab a bag full of stuff to get autographed, and now they’re off to China Basin. Look for them later tonight on the 11 pm news. Waving happily on the sidewalk outside the Park — I hope. Anybody else see the video of Pablo at today’s press conference? The young man’s look fairly fit. Still won’t tuck in the shirt, however.
please tell me he has some hot blonde girls with him. If there are any slightly chubby ones he should give them my number
Baggarly has come back to life with an Extra Baggs and states that Panda has lost 30 pounds and has added muscle mass. He also can do some pullups now and claims the bat feels lighter. Sounds like they have him on quite the regimen with no less than three different guys working on different elements where there was a felt need for improvement. Flappers all know it already, but a reversion to form by Pablo into Kung Fu Panda would be huge, giving SF a lineup with explosive potential.
Another piece of good news Baggs unveiled the day before Fanfest is that Franchez’ shoulder operation was successful enough that he should be only a bit delayed into Spring Training and that he should be good to go for March 31 in L.A. Duck the Fodgers.
sj_news_reader, stop sounding so desperate.
It’s unbecoming
i don’t know about sjnr, but a pretty girl and i be coming.
