The REAL Reason Behind This Winning Streak
I’ve written a quick story (to the right under The Room B link) that tells the tale of the glorious Sun Dressed Goddess and all that she’s meant to this winning streak. It would be far too easy to give credit to the players or the coaches. In fact, most of the scribes are clueless as to the REAL reason the Giants are playing winning baseball. Yesterday, Ann Killion was on KNBR (right after Jenkins) and she noticed how the Giants didn’t start winning until all the pressure was off them and they felt as if their season was over. Jenkins said the exact same thing. Fools. All it really took was for me to anoint The Sun Dressed Goddess as the spiritual leader of Flavor Nation. From there, glory and destiny have collided into a perfect harmony and wins flow as freely as twigs on the shoulders of a gentle stream…..
Cainer going today against a guy (Rogers) who just isn’t a very good baseball pitcher. Normally, guys like that shut us down. Not today. She’s already hard at work scattering the particles into the universe and by game time will have the destiny of the day in perfect order. I’m hoping she spends a little time on this Niner game, too. 🙂
What a clutch AB from Pill. That is the type of hit this club has been looking for all year.
Kumbaya.
Great POTG picture. I completely agree that the SDG is the sole raeson for the winning streak.
Let’s “rack” up another today!
Yeah!
Torres CF, Fontenot 2B, Beltran RF, Sandoval 3B, Huff 1B, Belt LF, Crawford SS, Whiteside C, Cain P
I’d woulda preferred Tony Romo in the cleanup spot myself. Cleanup aisle? Pick up on aisle 9.
The SDG is not even “readable”. Is there not a photo that can be made large enough to enjoy it?
Anyway, I don’t know if Rogers is the *type* who usually shuts them down, but *he* sure as hell hasn’t. 0-2, over 10.00 ERA in three starts. But you never know, do you? Cain would beat this guy 9 of 10 times but nobody gets to the bigs in the first place if they can’t pitch a little. Of course, I’m going with the Giants today, but I know enough about this game not to dismiss anybody.
if you go to the story I wrote about her in Room B you can see it there/
Putting aside the Giants 7 streak… For me, the story is the D-Backs 3 game skid… anemic hitting and run scoring is just what we ordered and were delivered. Maybe they have the Padres Sept. 2010 blues.
My guess is that what they had in common with those Padres is SLC (Sudden Lack of Confidence) and that they don’t belong in the playoffs with the big boys. And at this point there is nothing Gibson can do to shack that.
The Giants on the other hand have dealt with so much adversity with players on the DL but have been able to pull together in a selfless act of teamwork which is the one ingredient that pulled them thru in 2010 to victory and seems to be forming in this stretch…
The planets are aligning for the showdown on 9/23…and if the current pattern of Giant winning and D-Back grueling loses prevail, no D-Back home field advantage for that series will help them….
All this makes for interesting theory… but I’m sticking to it!!!!
Giants have made up 4.5 games in a week and baseball folks around the country are starting to notice. Thing about baseball is that any team can beat any other team on virtually any given day. So we don’t wanna get all overconfident in the statistical mismatch. That said, Giants have a bone between their teeth right now and the Snakes and the Braves have pretty much quit hitting. Ten to go with five to make up, though, is still a pretty steep climb and its Timmy vs Kershaw on Tuesday. We know how their previous matchups have gone and LA’s ace is going for #20, so Lincecum may hafta pitch his best game of the season then.
Today is today, though, and its Matt the Horse vs Esmeralda Rogers. Giants 3-6 hitters make for a strong core to the lineup. 1-2 and 7-9 hitters are, at best, iffy. Somebody’s gotta get on base for this formula to work. As a World Series veteran, Cain should be pretty intense this afternoon. Now its a matter of pride. A win today would set all baseball to talking. After August who would have picked SF to go on a 7 game winning streak. Baseball gods have a weird sense of humor.
As an example of how well Bochy has balanced playing “kids” and vets and winning, let’s look at Huff and Pill over the last 2 weeks:
Pill 21 AB 2 HR 6 RBI .333 BA .333 OBP 1.190 OPS
Huff 22 AB 0 HR 4 RBI .364 BA .481 OBP .936 OBP
Little Lord Fauntleroy??!!! Yes. This team is on fire.
Every now and again, Font can hit a ball as far as Bonds could.
D-backs are warming up…. hope they take a look at the scoreboard….. just a little more pressure!! Sweet!!!!!
Isn’t the Dback rotation: Surkamp, Cain, Linecum? Will they skip Eric if they’re still alive ? I’d guess they would. Matt, Tim, Vogelsong would still be on normal rest. Or who’s for the Zitter taking Surkamp’s start?
I can’t imagine Zito getting a start unless we are mathematically out of it.
I asked who wanted him, not that I thought he’d start.
I was mathematically out of it . . .once
Potd Edd! When I get home
not much of a rest for cain
Looks like Cain didn’t need the rest. A 30 pitch first and a 10 pitch second inning.
🙂
Fuck my ass, deeply. I fucking forgot to change my fantasy flap lg Lu yesterday and left gallardo and Lilly on my bench. Both fucking dominate. Ugh. That coulda wrapped the flap lg up for yours truly If I my head wasn’t in my ass.
Fucking FL. Will it ever end?
end of the season fl, ugh!
What game is West watching? He’s blatantly affecting this game.
Huh?
Totally inconsistent zone from pitch to pitch.
Got it. I thought u meant west coast
West has a unique strike zone today. Loved the comment from Kruk when West called a big curve ball from Cain, clearly in the strike zone, a ball: “when West played he couldn’t hit the curve ball.”
Two cycles in a row would be a truly awesome feat…
These G-Men are fired up!…. Nice to see there’s shared offense…. no pressure on 1 or 2 guys.
The SDG had a hand in this inning…
OMG!…. the Giants are sending a fucking message to the league…. DON’T THINK WE’RE OUT OF IT!
Gibson’s pep talk to the team before their game started ‘ please don’t look at the scoreboard’.
Whiteside sent his usual message to the league: I suck massive and copious amounts of pole
MagnusFlavoris: one of your best posts EVER. I be happy. Four homers today by the Gigantes. So far. Happy day. Now, to Room B. Love to all.
What is so cool is that the ground attack is being complemented with a massive aerial assault!
Someone email K. Gibson….. we can’t wait to see you in Arizona…… and maybe you should stop
printing those playoff tickets…….!
hold the presses!
Is this for real? I get home and the first score I see is 7-1, then click on the game and now it’s 10-1. Let the D-Backs gaze upon that for the next couple hours.
This game is insane! In a good way. And I’m going crazy ’cause I can’t get Koz and ’cause I can’t get it on Mlb. I’ll stop whining.
Mets get out of 8th-inning jam, still up 6-5.
Let’s go [vocative comma] Mets!
I forgot to start King Felix and Harang in FL. Distracted by more-exciting reality. There’s hope for me as a human being.
Lets hit 10 bombs today. Why not?
The Team with maybe the lowest # of HRs hits 6 already ………..Go figure
SDG + SFG = WINS
First time this year that Venters and Kimbrel have each given up a run in the same game. Again, thanks the Sun Dressed Goddess.
“thank” not “thanks”
And I see the Braves have former Giants’ speedy prospect Antowan Richardson, who autographed a ball for my daughter in Binghamton.
METS WIN!
my brain saw ‘thanks’ and added ‘to’, guess I’d never make an editor
Ooops, I just posted same below. Amazing thing nonetheless.
Really, an amazing play by Alex smith there.
Mets win 7-5! Mets announcer said today was the first time this season Venters and Kimbrel gave up a run in the same game.
that’s ok; I got it from Ron Darling or whoever also
Game over Mets ‘win’
And before anyone complains, the new rule is that you are allowed to make comments about A Smith as long as they are positive. My blog, my rules 🙂
OK, that was a heckuva throw. And as long as he does anything to beat the Cowjerks, you’ll hear nothing but niceties from me.
who’s A Smith?
Tweeted by Schulman:
OK, we’re up to 6. Last 7 HR game was here, 7/2/02 (Shinjo 2, Sanders 2, Minor 2, Bell). Yes, got to Tweet Garko, Hillenbrand, Shinjo today.
Nice pressure on Romo there.
This must be a shock to the system for Matty, has he ever had a lead this big?
I am officially a little nervous. I can’t help it. No lead is safe. We need some more SF bombs.
No Rockies hitter should ever get into the Hall of Fame just on the principle of the thing.
TD!!!!!!!
first 4-HR inning for SF since 1961 against Cincy
Damn I can’t remember the last laugher the Giants had. And the Niners are winning too, can this day get any better? Well the Niners have to win and it is early for that game. But they look good
and, of course, we need more homers
It’s never been real clear to me how a professional NFL player can line up off-sides, other than a lot of them aren’t exactly Einsteins.
Chuck is deleting my posts at his blog. Hmmmm. This could set off an interesting chain of events…..
Check that. I’m posting from my ph at a bar, I think I posted on his old thread. Apologies if that’s the case Chuck.
Well, this is a surprise.
Bee Wheezy throwing 94. Diggin it.
Welcome back Beard. And what a catch by Christian!
Any stats sleuth on the board who would know how many guys share in Panda’s M.L. record of two taters in one inning? What has got into these guys? Looks like it would be one helluva offensive team if they played half their games in Denver. Of course it helps to be facing the current Rockies pitching staff.
Looks like the Snakes have got it today with that 4-1 lead. Course they are still a bit nervous. Meanwhile the Bravos are feeling hot breaths coming from the back of both shoulders.
Now what awaits is another relaxing evening and good sleep…..pleasant dreams G-Men you guys did us proud!
Niners 21-14, and Romo out with a broken rib. Long ways to go, though.
something wrong with Chucks site won’t post may comments
BLEEP!
Oh well……Niners come up short.
Flav’s magic numbers 7 and 2
Tough game to watch today. I was at my mother in-law’s place and had to keep darting in and out of her office to watch the game on the computer. I usually prefer well pitched tight games, but found myself really enjoying that fourth inning. Nice to see our guys busting someone up, every now and then.
Last year during the playoffs, especially when nay-sayers were nay-saying that the Giants got lucky or “caught lightning in a bottle”, etc., I remember thinking that even if the post-season would’ve gone on an extra month beyond Nov. 1st, no one would’ve touched them, they were such in a zone. This year, I’m wishin’ the regular season had just one extra week, as they’re in that untouchable zone again and can only hope the zone didn’t appear a week too late… I don’t think 7-2 is going to be enough; I’m with Michael’s 16-0! I know, TF, it wasn’t a prediction, but it would be so sweet and may even be necessary.
They were 51-30 second half last year That’s a pretty extended lucky streak…
Tonight, I make a ritual sacrifice to the Sun Dressed Goddess. She who must be obeyed!
Our fate and our density is in her hands.
Another great win for the Giants today.

49ers lost because of a couple of breakdowns in the secondary that led to 2 big plays for Dallas. The secondary will have to improve.
“Fools.” Loved that, Flav!
I’m at peace right now. 8 game win streak gift from The Sundressed Goddess. The Niner game didnt hurt for a minute.,Well, maybe a minute. Between the Giants, the Niners, and the Raiders, today was all good in terms of interest…
