An Off Day That Felt like An Off Season And Miami Rolls Into Town
I noticed myself, at different points in the day yesterday, feeling *irritated and edgy* about the Giants *off* day. It’s funny, during the off season I can do months on end of no baseball and barely flinch, but during the season when an off day hits I’m *irritated and edgy* that they aren’t playing. There were 12 other games being played and the freaking Giants are off? Absurd! Actually, it was only 11, KC and Detroit got postponed so I guess there were a bunch of baseball fans in Detroit who were also driving around *irritated and edgy*. Although if you’re living in Detroit I’m guessing you have other things to be *irritated and edgy* about.
Anyway, Miami is in town. Easily the most interesting team we’ve faced this year. It’s safe to say that the Marlins are not meeting expectations this year, either at the plate or at the gate. They changed their name and their uni’s, they moved into a brand new stadium and signed Reyes, Bell and Buerlie. Mike Stanton summoned his *inner bull fighter* and proudly introduced the world to *Giancarlo(!)* Stanton. Everything was in place. Except that so far it’s all been in the wrong place.
Jose Reyes won the freaking batting title last year hitting .337. This year, healthy and rich, he’s hitting .220 with an unhealthy OBP of .293. *Giancarlo* (sorry, I can’t say that name without LQTM a little bit) who hit 34 bombs last year and set his sights on hitting 50(!) this year has a long way to go to reach that goal. He hit his first on Sunday. So he’s got 1. Heath Bell? It’s not good. He’s been horrible and would have lost his job by now if not for his big contract and the lack of a suitable replacement in the bullpen. I still think Mujica will get a shot to close for them this year, possibly soon. Bell could use a break right now…..And then there’s Ozzie Guillen at the helm. He’s trying to manage the team while simultaneously trying to explain his fondness for Fidel Castro to the good people of Miami–they’re not buying it and the fallout is that no one is going to their games (30K a game, that’s about right in the middle of mlb attendance but quite poor for a team with a new stadium).
Nolasco vs Cain tonight. It seems he always pitches well against us. Time for some *PaGone(!)* action at the top of the line up to shake that trend up a little……..
I came across the team averages in the chron this morning, something i don’t usually review. Yet here is something interesting:
Belt/Sanchez comparison: Avg: .278/.278 OBA .366/.289 AB 36/36 (!) Runs 4/4 (!) Hits 10/10 (!) 2B 4/0 3B 0/0 HR 0/1 RBI 5/1 BB 5/1 SO 11/6 SB 1/0
So why is Bochy so high on sanchez? It seems he’s always saying nice things about him and then there’s “oh yeah, Belt”. so sitting belt to bat sanchez doesn’t seem to buy anything.
interesting.
I just went and read last night’s comments. didn’t realize the whole belt/sanchez uproar was going on. so i’m not trying to restart that argument. I just thought it was interesting and not something i usually look at first thing on a tuesday morning. it just popped out at me.
I’m not worried about Belt. If he’s any good he’ll play. Bochy sees what he sees.
Nolasco does seem to F with us…kind of like the whole padres staff. Actually, i feel bad for ozzie–he f’ed up so bad that now he can’t hardly say anything. I always thought he was hella interesting to listen to, no matter how little of what he said actually made much sense. Tremendous passion for the game that I hope hasn’t been subdued by the miami elder exiles, a formidable group.
I was amazed when I heard Ozzie was suspended for 5 games. What if he had said he admired Tito? I know context is everything, but it’s still pretty odd to anyone who sees the Cuban emigre community’s intransigent position towards the homeland as less than an unmixed moral stance. Hey, maybe it was Ozzie and Fidel’s shared distaste for homosexuality that prompted the flattery.
I don’t have enough of an understanding of the history of Cuba/Fidel/Miami/defectors to understand how his *words* could get him in so much hot water that the fans are boycotting the games because of it. But I find it interesting to watch nevertheless
In the Miami Cubans’ minds, it’s the same as if Ozzie had said he admired Hitler, in front of Miami’s Jewish people.
That is funny about your “irritation” Flav…I too was restless yesterday and it all revolved around no damned Giants game! What the hell is up with that (rhetorical question)?!?
I, like many, want to see Belt play regularly. The topic has been sliced and diced like just about no other topic here on the Flap (I’ve certainly thrown out my fair share of comparisons). I’m tired of it…just hope Belt gets in there regularly, and soon.
On Nolasco, yes…he has been tough on our Gigantes. Dude is 4-2 lifetime against the Giants…and this one really hurts…3-0 lifetime at our yard (with a 0.76 ERA). Ouch. Time to turn that around!
Looking at stats leaders (and yeah, I know we’re only about 25 games into the campaign), but if it was all decided today, Kemp would win the triple crown. Leads the league with 12 bombs, hitting .417, and tied with Hamilton for the RBI lead. Dude is an animal…sucks he rocks the hated blue.
Kemp did strike out with the bases loaded and none out last, in a pivotal moment in the game. That was something unique lately.
If Belt has a hole in his swing, Bam-Bam better get to work teaching a few other guys how to emulate it..
the run scoring double was right were they said his hole is.
Angel’s owner must be getting a little ‘irritated and edgy’ by now.
I sure as hell would St. That Pujols contract seemed ridiculous at the time (the only saving grace being that you could stick him at DH with a walker when he could no longer shuffle out to 1st base). Ditto for the Abreu and Wells contracts. Wilson is the only FA signing bringing it. It’s no wonder that they brought up the kid (Trout) to the big show.
Nevertheless, Pujols has to be given at least once around the league before we know what’s what. Personally, I think he will do well in the first 3 years of the contract . . . After that, not so well.
Weatherproof games: Rangers-Blue Jays, Mariners-Rays, Mets-Astros
Rain showers have a good chance of bringing the tarps out during the Orioles-Yankees, A’s-Red Sox, Diamondbacks-Nationals and even Dodgers-Rockies games, but there likely won’t be enough rain to postpone any of these four tilts. The rain will be more of a problem for Cubs-Reds and Indians-White Sox; those games will get hit with thunderstorms in the early evening. But this should just cause a longer delay before the storms subside.
Re; Kemp’s fast start, failing FA’s, Pujols…
DJLoo was wondering the other day about other players who had hot starts.
Kemp .417 12hr 25rbi .893/1.383
Pujols April 2006
.346 14, 32, .914/1.423
Nice work, St….
Anytime, loo
Posey 9th in BA and 8th in OPS. I’d say Buster has come back nicely from his surgery.
Reyes 2010 was actually not much better than Pagan, tho 2011 turned out different. Even/odd year successes?Lot of guys struggle when awarded the big FA bucks and switch teams, as we all know.
Maybe in a year, when finances are different, we won’t be arguing over the likes of theriot pill nate etc. Last year the phils got tired of the ibanez francisco brown act and went out and got hunter pence, a legit all star maybe 3 tools out of 5 guy. Yes they had to give up prospects and they do have to pay the guy–but manuel can throw him into the middle of the LU every day, no matter who is pitching, without having to decide btw pill and schierholtz.
Dig below the surface willieD and Pence is a suspect addition to the Phillies. At first glance, everything about Hunter Pence’s 2011 season — from his career-high .314 batting average to the king’s ransom that landed him in Philadelphia at the trade deadline — would lead you to believe he’s on the cusp of elite status. And yes, it’s possible the 28-year-old’s best is still ahead of him, especially since his batting average only improved with the move to Philadelphia, where he hit as many homers (11) in 207 at-bats as he had in 399 at-bats with the Astros. But before you decide he’s the second coming of Matt Holliday, take a second look at the peripherals. Pence’s strikeout rate was one of the highest of his career, which means he added 30 points to his batting average by making less contact. Saying he benefited from good luck would be an oversimplification — perhaps he decided he didn’t need to swing for the fences as much anymore, and naturally, a move to a deeper lineup would take some of the pressure off — but the point is the secret of his success is hardly an open-and-shut case.
Moreover, he has been absolutely shitty in the outfield of late. For the third time in seven games, a batted ball got the better of him. Last Sunday in San Diego, he misjudged Chase Headley’s fly ball, which soared over him for an RBI double. Friday at Citizens Bank Park, Pence tried to make a sliding catch of a two-out hit by Reed Johnson. It went past Pence for an RBI triple in the Cubs’ 5-1 win. “The ball can’t get by you,” Phils manager Charlie Manuel said afterward. “Every now and then he’d make a mistake in the outfield,” Manuel said, “He has been making some mistakes in the outfield.”
Personally, I think the jury is still out on him.
Well, despite shitty defense and some poor offensive peripherals, I support Manuel playing him every durn day.
Well, many Giants fans have clamored for such a bat for a looong time. A couple of years ago, the Giants actually made a play for some of the then hot FA hitters, and were given the cold shoulder (remember when there was talk of trading Timmy or Cain to the BlueJays to get a stick?).
I am overall happy with the addition of pieces such as Melky, etc., and the Giants seem to be on a decent path of filling their roster with home-grown position players.
Sabean and Baer have stated that the focus will be on the pitching. To that extent…Cain was locked-up, and then a few weeks later, MadBum got extended. Timmy is still a wild-card, but with Rowand’s money coming off this year, and the end of Zito’s contract finally in sight…the team should be in a positiont to deal with Lincecum (time will tell what he might warrant a year-plus down the road).
Okay…my point being (with the deviations) is that it would be great to have a Hunter Pence type of guy to stick in there every day. But with the commitment to pitching, Timmy’s contract on the horizon, etc….I am not holding my breath for any such type of move from Giants management.
I’ll preface this by saying, I love Timmy and everything he has done for us. But the best deal the Giants did this year, is the ONE THEY DIDN’T DO WITH TIMMY (THAT HIM AND HIS AGENT WANTED). I think he will be able to “gut out” the next two years (length of the contract they did do with him), but good luck to him and his agent trying to get an 8 year contract – as they indicated they wanted – much less a 5 year contract when this one is complete. Not going to happen.
It was 2010 when the Giants were looking at big time FA’s. I forget who it was, a first baseman that the Giants made an offer to and he turned them down, that is when the Giants signed Huff. And the rest as they say is history.
With that said, most Sports analysts have said that most teams will have to develope their own position players. So far in my opinion the Giants have not done too badly, Buster, Panda, I still think Belt will make it. The Giants aren’t the only team with talent poor position players. Every team has them. Is there a team that has an All Star or gold glove at every position?? Mmmm…I don’t think so. The Giants are 4 games behind the Dodgers it is only May 1, what was the previous thread 23 different line ups. And there were people here bitchin and moan about the opening day line up. Let the Giants games start back up today!! I see a win tonight.
Might’ve been LaRoche (who I wanted real bad). He had outstanding ATT numbers if I remember right…
“I am overall happy with the addition of pieces such as Melky, etc., and the Giants seem to be on a decent path of filling their roster with home-grown position players.”
I am too Chi. I just read an article about Delta Airlines buying an oil refinery, where they are attempting to cut out the costs added by speculators and marketing by intermediaries. The aforementioned article sort of reminds me of what the Giants are doing too, i.e., emphasizing “home grown position players” vs. the spending outrageous sums on free agents.
It was LaRoche. He turned down a two year deal for about 9 million per. He signed with AZ for one year and 4.5 million.
LaRoche was one of the players, and Carlos Lee was another.
Blade – I agree with your comments about Timmy. No way in hell I do an 8 year with him. I am even (at this point in time) not sure that a five year will be in the Giant’s interest. Let’s see how Timmy does this year, and how he starts next year (contract year), and talk then.
I love Timmy and also appreciate all he has done for our franchise…but, from the Giants perspective, a trade may not be a bad idea (wow…did I really just say that…that trading Timmy may be in the franchises best interest). Regardless…this time next year it will be interesting to see where things are in relation to Timmy’s performance, and how that stacks-up in regards to a long-term deal with the Orange and Black.
Yeah, I thought you felt the same way Chi. As you said, a trade would seem to be in the cards sometime next year. Timing will be everything insofar as the Giants being: a. Out of the playoffs – trade his ass; b. Giants maybe being in position for the playoffs – I wouldn’t want to be Sabean; and, the Giants definitely looking like they will be in the playoffs – HAHAHA – still wouldn’t want to be Sabean.
LaRoche was the loser, so far.
The poor decision to use Posey at first base is the root of all kinds of problems–including a lot of the subpar defense complained about. Posey is the starting catcher-period. Hector is his back up-period. Pill is that “RH bat off the bench”-period. He could get spot starts against *some* LHers, that’s all. His outfield starts should go to Blanco. Platooning the middle infielders is fine.
My chick is having her period – period.
Well, good luck to her. I understand that this is a fairly common issue. For those affected it can even occur monthly.
I agree whole-heartedly, Twin. And on that note…BELT should be the fricking starting first baseman! (There…I said it AGAIN.)
I agree with a lot of that. Blanco was on fire in Spring, and was running wild on the bags. So far, after 22 games, basically Phhhht. When he HAS been in, seems to me he’s done well. Bochy is just not comfortable using speed, even when he has it. Somebody needs to remind him the 3-run dinger is not happening much on this squad…
Yeah, the thng about the new ballpark in Miami is it’s located in Little Havana. Where lots of Cuban immigrants live. Immigrants who have lost their livelihoods, businesses, and family members to Castro and his regime. Folks wh were forced to get out of Dodge or die.
Guillen’s admiriing the guy might just piss off the people the Marlins were courting to come to the games.
Oooops. He’s always suffered from foot-in-mouth disease, but this one was the grand mal of fuckups.
Heading to the game on Saturday. It’s Sergio Romo bobblehead promo day and just happens to fall on Cinco De Mayo. Must be a latin thing.
I am curious if any of you have experience with these promo give aways. Do you have to get there right when the gates open or you’re SOL (that’s sun in spanish).
Dirt, what Chuck said is accurate (arrive early). I wanted to go to that Romo game, but I wasn’t in charge of getting the tickets. Also, read the fine print, i.e., the Sunday game was a Lincecum giveaway, but it was only for children.
Snarkk and I are going to the Marlins game tomorrow and I half expect to get a tuna fish sandwich as the give-away.
Right when the gates open? LMAO…try you need to get there “hours early.” At least that is how it was on the couple that I went to past couple of years.
BTW…I read that piece you shared last week on Johnnie Rucker (Panda broke his franchise hitting streak). Nice read…thanks for sharing.
Think that was macdog but I agree it was good reading.
Ah…maybe it was Mac. Yep…regardless, a good read.
The lines are long early for bobbleheads, dirt. Get there an hour early, and you’ll be in line. Fortunately the game I’m going to (5/4) is texting gloves night (!). Whatever the fuck those are.
They are like bike gloves, your fingers are not covered
or was that sarcasm on your part there chuck
No, Chuck wasn’t shitting us…I couldn’t believe it…fricking texting gloves! Anyone texting at a ball game needs to have their ass kicked. Shut-up and get off the phone!
http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/schedule/promotions.jsp?c_id=sf
Thanks fellas. I appreciate it. I’m ususally coming from BFE eerrrr Reno so I get there last minute and have missed out on the giveaways. Not real big on collectibles but I am going to try for the Romo bobblehead. Dude has some funny commercials.
Ed said he wants you to get him one too . . . Oh Yeah, can you pay the postage for sending it across the pond?
🙂
I broke down and got one off ebay, how they have those, in the box, for sale I will never know.
Not a huge collector, either. But did get one of the Mays statues…now have to work on getting the McCovey one (June 3) to go with it. Figures it would be on my damned military weekend!
re watching the Yu Darvish game from yesterday and the announcers had one of these obscure stats:
since the 2010 season Toronto has gone 288 games without a starter being 30 years old or older. Apparently they have a young staff.
I’m sure you know this but I’ll post it again anyway: our four 2010 World Series starting pitchers were the first all home grown ever.
Any souvenir or memento I’ve ever had I eventually gave away. Just never been into it.
So will my Barry Bonds Bobble head be worth anything in oh say 20 years??
Oh and yes the head is huge on it!!
To get one of the Giants game giveaway bobbleheads these days requires getting there WAY early. As in early in the morning. How early? I don’t know anymore. The bobblehead thing has gotten too crazy for me. We got there pretty early for the giveaway long socks last year, and the lines were really long at all the entrances, and took a while to get in. But….the socks are GROOVY and I dig ’em.
Last giveaway I went to was the Huff bobblehead (what can I say…my girlfriend is a huge Huff fan). Anyway…we got there probably 2-3 hours prior to park opening…so for a 1:05 start…got there around 9ish. The lines were pretty long already…we got our bobbleheads (the girlfriend was happy, and the Gigantes won…so all was good).
RISP it’s a Bay area thing
The only team in the majors with a lower average with men on second or third than San Francisco (.199) is Oakland (.181).
Their average with RISP and two outs is the same as it was at the end of last year. Ouch…
Ewisco’s Belt v. Hector start-off post today was a great comparison. One might say more offense is expected out of the 1B position than C, but even if that’s the case, these are two young players. One has better stats, gets regularly roasted in public by his superiors, the other is consistently lauded (and rightly so). I heard Kuiper talk about Hector taking grounders at first, and he seemed as if it were in the natural order of things. We’re barely into 1/8 of the season, and Hector is seriously considered now as a 1B alternative over Belt and Pill? I guarantee that experiment, if it happens, will end quickly after the first two botched short hop throws. It just contributes more to my suspicion that there is something going on behind the scenes that has Giants management somehow PO’d at Belt. If they’re trying to light a fire under him for some reason, they’re sure going about it in a unique way…
The only answer in my mind is something is going on behind the scenes. Hell, Belt may not even have done anything. It could be some power trip between Bochy (I’ll play who I want) and Sabean (Play Belt).
I read a piece on this the other day. Bochy said the only reason they would consider this is for a late-inning switch. He also mentioned that Hector has played some at 1B in the minors. Here is the article…
http://tinyurl.com/6t3ofxp
Yeah, I saw that before Chi. To me, it’s nonsense. Maybe in an extra inning game where there’s nobody, nobody else left and you gotta mix and match the best you can. I would put any other infielder at first base before Hector, they’re more experienced at short-hop catches and bag footwork. Certainly no manager in his right mind would not put a novice 1Bman into an at-risk game in the 8th or 9th inning. That would just be asking for a disastrous defensive gaffe, I should think…
The last thing I waited in line for was a Sandoval bobblehead. Came down from the foothills, met my daughter at the Embarcadero bart station, and got there about 1.5 hours before game time. Didn’t get the bobblehead. The line was over the Lefty bridge, and halfway down to the McCovey statue. We got there for some of BP, and the regulars out there (Dog, etc) get a little more into it when there is a good giveaway. What they do is trade BP balls for whatever the shwag of the day is, which they turn around and sell on eBay. So, the regulars will be carrying duffel bags full of BP balls. Too funny. The only ball I’ve gotten was gotten by my son when he wished Dog a happy birthday a couple years ago. Dog gave him a BP ball.
100,000 games, and no foull balls, no BP homers . . .
And yeah, I have no fucking idea why they are floating the Sanchez-at-1st-base thing out there. We don’t have enough guys there? Sometimes I think these guys know way more than me about baseball, and other times I think, WTF? These guys are idiots. There’s amnaging, and there’s micromanaging. Put Belt out there for a little while. The disappearing act that is Nate the Great gets more rope than Belt. And Nate is o-fer the last week. Unless the scorer ruled his dribbler a hit.
Chuck – See my post above with link to the article.
SF tied for 24th in MLB with the friggin Cubs in BBs so far. Pads came in giving up the most, by far, BBs in MLB. Yet Giants took ONE walk, Posey I think, all 3 games. If they had another, I missed it. That is really a pathetic approach. They need to get into the top 20 in that stat, and the effort should start with Pagan…
Bam Bam’ challenge with the hole in Belt’s swing — the sheer enormity of it — simply leave no room for considerations like the team’s OBP.
The most unusual stat of the year is Melky’s team-leading10 BBs. Of course, if Belt had 101 PAs . . . .
I would bet the Giants don’t want Belt taking BBs. He’s got a very good eye, but they spit on that with him They want him to be “aggressive”…
Affeldt onto the DL with a “knee strain”.
Did he do that screaming at Hector?
Sounds like an “injury” caused by a coupla wild pitches and general ineffectiveness…
Travis Blackley gets the call up.
Tyler Graham DFA’d…
Yep…Graham was on the 40 man…was DFA’d to make room for Blackley…
http://tinyurl.com/6qh3xku
Ineffectiveness can be the result of injury…
Blackley has been absolutely lights out.
Maybe Affeldt has a permanent problem from that frozen hamburger slicing accident or whatever the fuck it was..
Injury, meet Serendipity?…
Pagan CF, Cabrera LF, Sandoval 3B, Posey C, Belt 1B, Schierholtz RF, Theriot 2B, Crawford SS, (Cain P)
Belt at 1st! WOO FUCKING HOO!
Bonds may have been a prick, but as I always said, he was our prick.
And, he does have a human side…

Great article…thanks for sharing…
Thanks for sharing . . . Great article about Alexis, especially liked the part about “meat” and Krukow. She will be missed.
Sweet
Ted sent you a message yesterday, i.e., how is your father?
Anybody want to share their fondest memories of Tyler Graham?
You go fisrt, Loo
It always seems like the Marlins play their best vs the Giants. Maybe that’s not true, I don’t have stats to back it up but I don’t remember a ton of success against them. I probably base this on the 1997 & 2003 playoff losses which sucked to say the least.
This is a pre-series capsule of the ’03 series from USA Today – a young Josh Beckett was prophetic w/ his comments & Juan Pierre was a force that year.
http://tinyurl.com/cbqd5fk
Btw, Pawlie – I just ordered your book on Amazon. Didn’t read the Amazon reviews but the response here was great & that’s all I need. Will pass it on to my father when I’m done (sorry no double purchase – he is retired 🙂
Blackley this Spring:
3W
0.39ERA
23.1IP
13H
1ER
3BB
19K
0.69WHIP
Not bad…
Should have said, his “performance in FNO” not necessarily “this Spring”
Nolasco has been kryptonite for the Giants.
They’ll need at least one dinger tonite to win.
Cain better bring his A game. He’s going to need it…
Schulman: “Affeldt apparently hurt his knee while picking up his kid.”
After yelling at him?…
Did he have a knife in his hand?
Or deer meat?
Affeldt needs to stay away from home. Too dangerous!
classic.
Or picking him up onto his motorcycle?
Affeldt reading too many of Loo’s posts. “Affeldt: “I was separating frozen hamburgers and I slipped on my knee.” in all seriousness, he’s upset he hurt himself off the field again.
His 4-yr-old son jumped off the couch and ran into his arms. Affeldt squatted awkwardly trying to catch him. Son is very big. 60 lbs (per Schulman)
I don’t own Pujols on a single team but I do find his failures this year fascinating. Someone sent me this email which I also found interesting and thought you guys might, too:
“Take a look on fangraphs at Pujols bb/9 and outside swing % for the last 5 years. Pretty stunning. He’s completely lost at the plate. Not taking walks, and swing at bad pitches like never before in his career. In fact, check out this trend for the last 5 years in outside swing %; 21.6, 22.9, 27.5, 31.8, 40.1! It’s gone up every year and basically doubled in 5 years. Walk rate has dropped 4 years in a row. Could it be the eyesight isn’t quite what it once was???? Maybe they should have logged on to a free stats website for a few minutes before giving him a quarter billion $ to play for the next TEN years”
As LH relievers go Affedlt has been one of the most consistent over the last 5 years. A lot of these guys will totally blow up every couple years. He was a bit iffy in 2010 but one appearance paid his salary- when he shut the Phils down after Dirrty was tossed.
Hell, one AB was worth the $18 million they paid Renteria. So is it possible that Zito can have one outing worth $126 million?
I have just the outing in mind.
Would Ozzie and Fidel be disgusted?
dick cheney still go hunting?
For some reason I looked at your post and thought you said Ozzie and Harriet…I don’t know, but Chuck is..
Steve and I haven’r been in agreement much these days, so I want to assure him that this is a family fun outing, not what the rest of these evil people are thinking.

Moi?
Not my kids, so pfffft! Enjoy your dinner Mac.
Andre meets Jaws!!
Dirt, I have reviewed the counter proposal and have offered my own counter proposal . . . Check your email.
regardless of the individual merits of hunter pence, what I wanted to empasize is how philly went about addressing the issue of under performing position players, particularly those within their system. With z contract nearing its end, rowand huff f-sanchez coming off the books, I’m hoping SF bean counters will allow Sabes to make a significant upgrade to the o should the guys within our system not be capable of providing same.
I look at bowker gang from two years ago, and today’s group of nate pill crawford (and maybe burriss) as basically replacement level players. Giants have plenty of bats in the system–I’m interested to see what the middle IF guys and the OF guys like brown and peguero can bring to the table. And if it isn’t enough to bump theriot etc off the roster, what sabes can do about getting someone to build around beside posey sando and hopefully belt and melk.
Can Pence play firstbase? (kidding)
Geez I was hoping to score a Platoon 1B Bobblehead doll with several 1B gloves attached with all the players sigining it.
Nate is now in a 1-18 hole. I believe you need 20 official ABs to qualify for a crater…
This is what the Cult must understand someday about Nate.
Pagan made that one look routine!
Gamel must have been injured in the 1st inning, because Ishi is now in for him.
At least the BA w/ RISP improved.
Panda smoked that double.Jesus Posey you have to get him to 3rd with no outs.K just doesn’t work.
It is the Mark Portugal effect.
Schierholtz’s favorite place to visit while in Oregon?
Crater Lake.
nice pull. I spent a couple of Summer’s there hiking/camping with my family as a kid. Good times.
Man we just suck balls with RISP.Another wasted inning.
Looked like McGwire’s 62nd…
Why is a one-out double better than a double with no outs? Your team BA w/ RISP is less at risk.
rox almost all the way back vs. LA, from down 7-0 to 7-6 bottom 8th.
Pagan made that look routine! Wait a minute- it *was* routine..
That was on Crawford.
Panda has no problem figuring out Nolasco.Smoked his last two AB’S.HR# 5 for the Panda express.
Micah (Dirt) check your email . . . Counter Counter Proposal to your Counter Counter Proposal 🙂
Routine catch.
Steve, both were.
Have to make contact there, and it wasn’t a difficult pitch to do it.
I wonder how many millions the Giants make on all that Swag they sell at the games?.
Manny, I was thinking about that too . . . Our fans are the most knowledgeable (up there with the Yankees and Red Sox), but we also have the goofiest fans too, what with the Panda, horse, and giraffe garb. Personally, you wont find me sporting a panda hat any time soon.
Sweet DP
Will Posey “clean up”..?..
oh man that drives me crazy, and melk’s done it before too. Hit the ball in the air and you at least tie it up.
The speed of Blanco and Pagan forced that mistake, now darn it, make it count.
I can’t believe the fish escaped that inning.
Not so sweet DP
Guess not….
that’s fucked up. cain deserved better, esp the way he hit the ball tonite too.
