A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Awesome Day At The Ballpark!!

Posted in Uncategorized by zumiee on June 28, 2012

By the end of the game, the “Beat L.A.” chants had morphed into “Sweep L.A.” chants. The few Dodger fans there had quietly dried up and blown away in the breeze. Romo struck out Abreu and that was it! The epic and historic three-game shutout sweep was complete! This was the most pleasing and joyful baseball game I’ve ever attended. I’m still buzzing from having been there. I’ve never been to a playoff game, but this game had playoff atmosphere, in my opinion.

Section 315 is in the upperdeck, straight back from homeplate. It’s a majestic view of the Bay and the stadium. A view unmatched in the baseball world. Yeah, I wasn’t sitting close to the field, but I felt very close to the action anyway. The fans in my section were hanging on every pitch. It was thrilling.

Timmy looked like ol’ Timmy again. The defense continues to be solid and dependable, much improved from earlier in the season. The offense continues to find a way to get it done; different heroes every game. The team, day by day, continues to forge its identity. And its identity is a winner.

And now, today….a new day, a new ballgame, a new challenge! Baseball’s everyday-ness! Bask in the Dodger series today, and then….the Giants start a four-game series against a very good Reds team. Can’t wait for tonight! I’ll enjoy watching the DVR recording of yesterday’s broadcast, and compare it to my experience at the ballpark yesterday. Always a fun thing to do.

Giants baseball is gnarly old-school hardball, NL-style. It’s winning baseball, and it’s fun to be doing a lot of winning again! Go Giants! Beat the Reds!

    • TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on June 28, 2012 at 9:37 pm

Then why does he keep getting rid of it?

  4. chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on June 28, 2012 at 9:35 pm

I could really give a flying fuck what he does with his nose, boogers, etc., as long as he keeps mowing down the opposition…it is all good.

Are you talking about the Giants pitcher or the guy who asked me 91 times for money while I was waiting for a bus

  9. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis said, on June 28, 2012 at 9:44 pm

So the Giants pitcher that eventually breaks this scoreless streak and gives up a run, do we give ’em the chair or just throw him off the Golden Gate? This is unreal.

I think gasoline and a match is sufficient.
Why you gotta be so cruel?

    • chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on June 28, 2012 at 9:47 pm

Strap ’em in the chair and THEN throw him off the GG.

35 Shut out innings just tied the record by the 1960 Giant squad!!! Outstanding Boys!!
They could not only break that now,but another Shutout would set the Team Record with 4.

    • eddacker's avatar eddacker said, on June 28, 2012 at 10:00 pm

The old record of 35 consecutive innings was set in 1960. That year the Giants had 15 CG SHO to lead the NL. Jack Sanford pitched 6 of those. Amazing what this team has just done.

Apparently, MadBum’s last snot release ended up on his beard. Hence the conversation with the home plate ump.

Bum deserving as an A/S selection as well. The only problem is the National Audience ready for a Snot explosion on the big stage?

Bum’s next start should be July 4th. I expect to see some snot pyrotechnics.
That would also give him 6 days rest going into the ASG….

Tried to sleep but had to see the comments after the 1-hitter…
The slacker Cain gave up 1 run in 7 against the A’s or we could be looking at 5 no run games by the starting 5..as it is, his last 6 were shut out innings- so that’s now 36 straight scoreless for the starters
I thought MadBum would be the ace this year, and it may still end up that way, but it’s still OK to think his snot thing is dizzzzzzgusting..
Belt is fouling off the goodies and setting himself up for the tough stuff. Not to worry, though: Huff is on the way…
Penny has finished his 7 game trial- 2 ER over 8 Innings in his last 6 games. Think he’ll be up?
Hembree, Hacker on PCL AS roster…
    Trevor Bauer was OK in his debut- 4 IP 5 H 3 ER 3 BB 3 K

4 shutouts in a row is pretty damn amazing. Not since ’48 with the New Yawk Giants has that happened, according to Miller. Even more amazing is #4 against the Reds, they can friggin’ hit. If the Yanks or RSox did that, ESPN would be analyzing it for 24 hours straight. Watch out, Ariz is heating up. I don’t care where Huff is, leave him there. I think Loux and George Costanza are the two guys on the bubble here — they have to make a move with Penny by the weekend apparently, either up or out, and I suspect it will be up, so one of those two may be out, or down, that is. My guess is Loux…
