Tim Lincecum— A Good Start
I only caught a little of his start and what I did see was on a tv with no sound. And I did see the last couple of batters in the third and Bochy come out to yank him. But I am giving him MORE than a passing grade for last night’s start.
His appearance: He looked fantastic. He’s added weight and yet still looks lean– that’s because he’s clearly added muscle. We heard about all of this but last night was the first time we’ve seen him on the mound in his uni. And while I have no problem with dudes who want to wear their hair long, I always thought that Timmy looked ridiculous at best and like a non-practicing transsexual (at worst) with his long, sleek black hair. He was Black Beauty. Now, he’s a clean cut assassin.
My grade for his appearance last night: A
His stuff: Again, I only saw him throw probably 10-12 pitches but the pitches I saw looked pretty good. His motion looked balanced. I saw him hit 94 on the gun in the 1st inning and he rarely did that last season. His change up was all over the place–almost *too* unhittable and when the hitter didn’t swing it almost always was an easy ball-call.
My grade for his stuff: B+
His location: this was off. I know the change up isn’t designed to end up in the strike zone, but many of his were WAY out of the zone, easy takes. Same thing with the fastball. It was live, but it was all over the place.
My grade for his location: C-
It was his first start of the spring. He was clearly gassed after 2+, when Bochy came to get him he was drenched in sweat. He’s got 3 more starts this spring and I’m hopeful he builds off last night’s positive appearance. Last year, in 12 team fantasy leagues, Timmy was going in the 3rd round (out of 30). He was an obvious bust as a 3rd round pick. This year, he’s going in the 15th/16th round. I’m not sure if I can ignore an overlay like that and will be drafting him in at least 2 leagues. Besides, mid round draft picks are pretty easy cuts if they don’t pan out. π

House keeping note:
I was away from the internet for most of the night yesterday and I missed all of the rabble on the board. I support Twin’s deletion of 3 posts (and he sent me all three so I did read them after they were deleted). To my knowledge, it’s the only time he’s ever zapped a post here without permission and I reminded him that I am the only one who is allowed to do that.
I think that I’ve clearly outlined what’s accepted at The Flap and what’s *over-the-top* in The Blogger Code of Conduct Rules located on the right hand side of this page. Please review it if you’re wondering what is allowed to be posted at this site. We all say things in the heat of the moment that we would like to take back, I know this more than anyone. In life, that’s very hard to do. At a blog, it gets zapped and it doesn’t seem as bad. But you can’t un-ring a bell. Please remember that *respect* is not just a 7 letter word–it’s something we all should practice in our 3-D lives as well as here at the blog. Thanks in advance for *respecting* the rules here. I think they’re better than rules enforced at other SF Giants blogs but if you disagree with me you’re certainly welcome to go blog there.
Timmeh, pitching is bitchin’, respect for other people is cool. Giants v Nats for the NLCS is bitchin’ and cool.
what happened to Twin taking the next topic, I got an email . . .
He pulled it
Ed, I put up a post but after last night, I didn’t feel like running it.
As to Tim- it was encouraging. As I said before- if he’s in good condition this year, he’ll be fine. And while I NEVER said it was his intent to show up poorly conditioned last year- he did.
To clear up some confusion on what Flavor said- he reminded me that when he’s *here* he’s the guy to delete posts. But he also said in his words “Yes, you had every right to delete that. ” I’ll clear it up some more. The original comment from Loo that had to do my seizure was the kind of comment that I’ll ALWAYS reserve the right to delete if it isn’t taken care of NOW.
What happened that day- I was posting when the seizure hit. When I saw my gibberish had posted, I tried a couple times to let you all know I was OK, I think I posted the number for the ER as well. Normally I would go the ER with the paramedics but since I was conscious and least thinking clearly (somewhat), we waited for our friend, “Dr. T” to take me to the hospital. Since I didn’t know how long I might be kept I needed to make sure my diabled wife would have someone I could trust to take care of her.
We’ll see how it goes here from here forward but as of now, I certainly intend to post the same kind of truthful and informative posts as I always have.
I’ll do my post tonight that was to run last night if Craig is OK with it.
yes, go ahead and run the thread tonight.
New post on my blog with regard to my mountain trek in Thailand a few weeks ago . . . My trek buddies from Australia (Mark and Cheryl) sent me some pictures of that adventure and I posted them this evening. As I indicated back then, climbing mountains in Colorado, competing in athletic events when I was younger, etc., etc., wasn’t as hard as this trek in the steamy jungles of Thailand. Glad I accomplished it, but I would not do it again.
I hope that Timmy does well this year, but as I indicated last season, I felt he was going to hit a plateau then, but he actually descended much further than I thought. I don’t think Tim will be as bad as last year, but I doubt he ever reaches the heights he achieved prior to last year’s putrid year. That being said, Tim will be an absolute STEAL in the 15-16th rounds of fantasy league and I would definitely add him if he was available (not certain I am playing in FL due to my trip at this point).
when are you returning?
I get back on May 14th
Great pix from the “Death March,” and literally LOL at the final one. I’m very much digging your blog, Blade. Fascinating stuff.
Thank you Mac . . . Most of it has been fun, the Thai trek not so much. However, 3 weeks later, I can laugh about it. π
My wanderlust is out of control now thanks to blade. π
Truly, Salty.I think it’s cruel to do this to us blog potatoes. I even tried cute dog tricks on my blog to try to compete and I have it on good authority that cute dog tricks are even more popular than Lesbian Porn…but noooooooo, it’s just Blade with beautiful women, Blade eating delicious exotic foods, Blade on mountaintops with the glory of the world beneath his feet…I don’t understand… hey, have you seen Zeke chew up my pillow? It’s real cute…
Ha ha
*Loo* please knock it off. Flavor.
I got a couple myself, Loo. Including several from Craig supporting me. i think you’d be best served by heeding the warning he gave you.
I see you’ve been warned again. Look, if the Mays video is that big a deal ( after telling me you wanted it and then didn’t, and not wanting to split the cost then thinking I wanted some rancid sauce for it),I’ll just send it to Craig, he can send it to you and you can have the fucking thing. I only went to the trouble as favor for you.
LOL
Caught in yet another lie:

Well, he didnβt actually tell me to get it, I just assumed he did.
Here’s an idea: leave each other the fuck alone. No one here wants to read this stuff
I went to Livermore…highlight of my year so far.
Lake DeValle is nice for boating and camping.Otherwise Livermore Sucks…
they have some kind of lab there; I hear interesting things happen there?
The old downtown is nice. Some good restaurants and wineries, too.
I thought, given the circumstances (first start…dealing with the blister, etc.), that Tim did pretty decent. And even through his final tune-up this year, I will not get wound around the axel…he never has good ST numbers.
I do think he looks to be in good shape, and have said for some time, I think he’ll have a good year this year (most guys seem motivated to kick some ass in contract years).
Shit…Godson just sigined. with Tampa 5 yrs,not sure of the scratch amount, figure plenty since they flew him out their especially to get a deal done.
Man with Godson& Mark Barron in that secondary that’s the alot of heavy wood laid out.Poor Reciever’s next year, somebody might get killed in a game between those 2.
ugh….GOLDSON!!!!! Fuckin spell check….
Goldson gets 41Mil for 5 yrs, 22mil guaranteed.
The Bucs can have him for that. When (and emphasis is on WHEN) he is on, he is a pretty decent safety…but no way in hell I throw that coin/number of years at him. No bone to pick with him…wish him the best. Also, someone probably mentioned it yesterday…Delanie Walker signed with the Titans.
Both those guys have gotten way much more flak than they deserved. Goldson is a lot more than decent and Walker, despite the dropsies, is a beast, he’ll kick ass with the Titans We’ll see how the draft goes-it was awful last year- and what vets they add, but so far I don’t like it. Boldin is a nice pick up, though.
That’s just my opinion, of course.
I can’t believe you guys are in PDT already BST starts 31 March and that seems too soon. Just when 5am is starting to get some sunlight, BAM, it is dark again.
Almost time for the chi twins to hit ST. For the first time in a lotta years I won’t have a free place to stay. Me mum is moving to Fairfield this weekend, her 88th birthday weekend. Lotsa memories in AZ for the eddacker family.
I’ve never read those rules over to the right. Yet.
My wife said it was “blasphemous” of me when I suggested the new pope chose the name Francis as a tip of the hat to the World Champion San *FRANCISCO* Giants.
This is common knowledge
Actually, the new pope is a big Sinatra fan…
really? I’d like that
Small World Department: My friend’s brother married an Argentinian; went to the wedding in Buenos Aires several yrs ago. The brother’s wife knows the pope and her father knows him very well.
Psyco..Stripes Movie,Warren Oates says to Psyco :
“Lighten up Francis”
So my daughter asks me to get tennis balls because her legs hurt so much from lacrosse practice; she wants to roll the pain out. I go to Sports Authority. I’m directed to the golf department. The clerk, a guy in his fifties, says, “Like your hat.” I’m wearing a black knit cap, says SF 2012 World Series. Bought it on the sidewalk outside of AT&T Park after Game 1. I say, “You mean, like, the hat, or my team?” He says, “I mean, my team.” Well! What have we here? It turns out he and his son are huge Giants fans. Better yet: he starts telling me about a flag he flies and tells me where he lives. I tell him, “Get out. My daughter noticed that flag a few years ago from the highway and we found your house and knocked on the door. No one answered. But it’s you!” He went on to say he has a brand-new championship flag. I never tire of this phenomenon. hashtag BASKING.
that’s a fantastic story. So you knocked on this dude’s door because of the flag? How long ago? And then you meet him at Sports Authority? Am I getting the sequence correct?
yes, knocked on the dude’s door — I don’t know — two or three summers ago, then end up meeting him tonight; told him about the Giants weekend at the HOF this coming June, as Dennis Z. scooped me and everyone with — trophy will be there
There’s a new post.
