Tanaka-mania!!
Well, maybe it’s too soon to call it that, but still…..he’s brought some spark to the offense when it was completely dead in the water. He’s given hope that leftfield for the Giants is no longer the biggest sucking cosmic black-hole of the universe. A feeling of hope has returned to Giants fans these last couple of days, for the 2013 season. Maybe it’s not a lost cause after all. And, heck, after all that’s happened, the Giants are still not all that far behind the division leaders. Sure, Tanaka-mania is nowhere near Puig-mania, but we’ll take what we can get. We’re feeling hope for the season again, and it’s a very nice feeling!
Oh, and of course, excellent starting pitching the last two games is pretty darned important, too. Β That will be key in the second half of the season to make any kind of run at the playoffs. Playoffs?!! As Jim Mora famously said, we’re just trying to win the next game! And that’s a very good goal. The Giants just need to focus on winning the next game. And only one thing can stop Tanaka-mania. Yes, it’s coming. The thing that we all dread now. The thing that Giants fans absolutely now in no way want to see. And that thing is…….
FRENCHY!! No, say it ain’t so! Please say that Bochy won’t be taking Tanaka out to give starts to Frenchy! It cannot be! Well, we can hope it cannot be. We’ll see. The original plan was to platoon Tanaka and Frenchy; but maybe that’s changed now. Surely Bochy won’t start platooning yet. Or will he? Here’s a sobering paragraph from an article: “Prior to his ouster from Kansas City, Francoeur was hitting .208 with a .571 OPS in 193 trips to the plate, hitting left-handers equally as poorly as he hit right-handers. Francoeur is only 29 years old, but not many are optimistic about his ability to play at the Major League level.”
The season is still full of possibilty. It ain’t over yet. The Dodgers looked very human last night. Kershaw lost, and Puig has a hitch in his get-along and had to leave in the middle of the game. The Giants have many players who have under-achieved this season so far, and can have much better performances in the second half. There is still time for the 2013 Giants to…..

Speechless just fucking speechless….what a night!
I am so fuckin’ happy for this kid. He’s been through the wringer, with his capability diminished, etc., and down the dumper since such heights and 2 Cys. Now, he gets a No – No. And, three wins in a row, too. I am not only back off the ledge, I am fucking STOKED!…
Damn…awesome play by Pablo (just seeing the replay)…fuck. And then Pence’s grab. Wow…
Anna, Anna, Anna, ANNA, ANNA!!!!!
As an early adopter of ANNA fandom, and an ardent critic of her demotion I find it my duty to pray Flavor stay out of state (yeah, he went there for holiday) for a while as the Giants’ brain-trust will know know the real reason for the big slide of the last six weeks.Hit men in San Francisco? Bruce may do it himself.
Zumiee, who wins every game he attends, might need to start posting more threads here π
I am basking my ass off right now! Screw waiting until tomorrow to watch the game…I am dialing that bitch up right now! G’night Flappers!
Everyone on the team has a Tanaka smile tonight. What a great game.
Don’t ever give up on Lincecum, because he won’t. Un fucking believable guts.
Cheers to that xoot!
Cheers!
What a wonderful night to be a San Francisco Giants fan!
Tonight is a great example of why I love baseball more than the other sports. Drama out the wazoo. Great individual performances to save the No-No by Panda and Pence. Nail-biting long ABs by the Diego’s, and sweating the increasing pitch count. Overall, a bust-ass performance by a little Freak, 148 pitches, stretching the limit of endurance and mental strength. That has to the most since the 144 by Schmidt at Wrigley, I think a 1 hitter then. And, I don’t think he was ever the same after that. But, fuck that thought. I’m thinking historic stuff, here. FANDAMTASTIC!…
a great example by our team in a WINNING effort!!
Three no-hitters in the last five seasons. Two World Series titles in the last three years. I don’t give a damn what our record is right now, it’s good to be a San Francisco Giants fan.
oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome indeed.
Fan-Fucking-Tastic!
I really gotta turn in. Leaving in a matter of hours to go to Finnerty’s. BUT I AM AMPED. Schulman says Bruce never thought of pulling him, Timmy got stronger. What a thrill. What a roller coaster week! G’night, girls.
G’night, lady
Me, too, my friend, gotta get up way earlier than usual (later this morning). But it was so worth it!
This is hard for all ya’ll to believe but I’m speechless
Watching the highlight videos and when Pence catches the third out in the 8th, TL raises a fist in solidarity salute and to say “Thanks, great play”. He then turns to walk off the field and I had tears of joy. What a great game for him.
I am so stoked for this guy, one of my favorite Giants of all time. Big Time Timmy Jim!β¦
Congrats to Timmy and the G’s. I only was able to catch the last couple of innings, but Tim showed the guts he’s famous for. Great win, 3 wins in a row and 3 great pitching performances in a row. Keep it up tomorrow Zits and let’s get back into this thing. Lotsa baseball left.
You gotta luv it.
If it wasn’t almost 2AM here back east, I think I’d watch that game again. God Damn that was fun.
If it wasn’t GB I’d watch that game once. Thanks for helping me be a part of, Flappers
On the Tim no-hitter thread on mlb.com, congrats posts to Tim are coming in from fans of all teams. This is baseball. I’m ready to tear up, dammit. I friggin love it! Off for a celebratory Makers nightcap…
Tim interview…

Unreal. As I mentioned…I was out and did not get home until the 8th inning. Thank goodness I recorded it. So, am watching the game now (Sacramento feed), and during the 2nd inning, picture goes out for five fucking minutes. WTF. I may have to watch it a second time tomorrow. WHOOT!
This just in. Tim is the first pitcher since 1906 to be the losing pitcher in an MLB no hitter (Bailey and Reds), then be the pitcher that throws the very next MLB no-hitter…
Damn. That is unreal. The fricking game was already unreal….this makes it even more so.
Miller did the play-by-play on Cain’s perfect game on TV last year, and Lincecum’s no-hitter on TV. Miller and Kuiper during Cain’s game, and Miller and Krukow during Lincecum’s.
In both games, Miller openly talked about what was going on, using the phrase “perfect game” while it was going on, and “no hitter,” and drew both Kuiper and Krukow into doing it, too, which had to be a struggle for them to do, as it goes against every grain in their ex-ballplayer soul.
Miller- the king of the anti-jinx!
I’m in shock. A no hitter? I went to a party yesterday, then out on a date and essentially heard or saw no baseball. A no hitter? Lincecum? Wow! Go Giants!
baseball? booty? We know where a real fan will be.
pffttt
π
LMAO.
new thread, hope it doesn’t step on any toes
