There is WIN! in this team
Hello flappers
Well are you flappers the same bunch of winners that I’ve been hanging out with for the last few years? It’s been a grumpy group the last few weeks and adversity makes us stronger. I’m not going to go crazy thinking that three wonderful wins against another team with a losing record means that we’re all the way back but I am going to try and talk about how important team is to this team.
Just as this group of flappers are bound tighter by the long slog of the Giants recent losing streak so a group of teammates can be bound or unbound through the course of a season. I certainly saw a real falling apart of the clubhouse camaraderie during that long losing streak. One time when I saw Bruce Bochy standing at the edge of the dugout his hands (seemingly) folded in prayer I instantly thought to myself, “oh my God even the skipper has lost it.” Where was that intelligent confidence that he always shows this team? It was gone, everything was in dis-array. Losing can affect every member from bench players all the way up to the general manager and, so can winning.
Big flavor has already commented on the new Korean player Tanaka providing a spark that was so sorely needed. Matt Cain who has been such a rudder and such a solid calming force, always pointing this team towards winning, has not been able to do it this year. We’ve had some injuries and what most people will admit is a weak bench neither of which was helping to turn things around. When the team started going south it sunk like a stone.
Last night we saw the littlest hero Tim Lincecum throw a game and a half, 148 pitches, of no-hit ball. For a lot of fans and a lot of the Giants players Timmy is well loved. Last night I saw a lot of love in that dugout and for me major hope for the second half.
What I’m trying to say is the biggest thing this team has is team spirit and when I see that coming back these last couple of games I know we have a team that can go all the way to the playoffs.
Thanks Anna and get well Twin.
Go Gigantes!
Good post Ed . . . As I said on the last thread – I didn’t see Timmy pitch, but it sounds like he was Gold last night.
I read all the comments and I have one concern and question for Flav – How long before you ban “Rooster?” The only Dodger I appreciate around here is Sandy, i.e., he has reasonable and well thought out arguments and doesn’t talk trash or is a tool on the Flap when he does comment. He defends his team, the Dodgers, but again – not at the expense of the Giants. I continue to welcome Sandy’s input and other Dodgers like him. Conversely, I joined the Flap because I got tired of the Dodger and Oakland A’s fans talking smack and being trollish on the Splash. Rooster is easily approaching that level in my opinion. Said my peace . . .
‘Nuff Said.
Here ya go Blade, all 27 outs http://atmlb.com/13gR1bB
Always love those highlights that show all the outs. I like the “condensed games” on mlb.com video; they are watchable even if you don’t have a subscription and they come up a couple of hours after the game. they show every major event for both teams. Thanks Bozo
Wow, big thanks man. I was coaching b-ball last night and only saw first inning (Pablo’s rbi double seemed to signal good things) and then caught Flems and Kuiper on post game talking to him.
Nice to see it and catch Miller.
This no-hitter is a real shot in the arm for this team. Lincecum looked like his old self from the glory years. Damn it was good to see!
I really enjoyed the players’ celebration of this one. Lincecum was a bit stunned after watching the final out in LF, and Posey, with a truly gigantic grin on his face, quickly snuck up behind him. Lincecum’s face also lit up when Posey hugged him and lifted him off the ground. All the spirit that culiminated in the team holding Lincecum on its shoulders after game 5 in Texas in 2010 returned last night. And that’s just what they need to get ready for the second half of the season.
Ya gotta believe!
🙂
Called the Timmy no-hitter last night in my 8:57 post.
And that was only after 5 innings.Could just tell then he was dealing extra speciaY assortments of “Timmy Awesomeness”
Timmeh must have finally purchased the real quality high end herb, as his pitching a no-hitter proved. This Buds (beer) for you. This Bud (major good Mota) is also for you on an outstanding pitching performance!!!!
And totally agree with Blade….The Rooster needs to be tarred and feathered from this site. His stupid ass comments are not appreciated by me as well as other fellow Flappers I’m sure.
So Rooster Fuck Off and Die!!!
After Blanco handed Tim the ball, Murph comes over to congratulate Tim and it looks like he tries to get the ball. After a couple of tries it looked like he finally did, which is a good thing because I don’t think Tim was aware that he had the ball at that point. Ya gotta love Murph, taking care of the guys even when they don’t know it..
I saw that, too. Murph’s been around, he’s seen it all, and knows what to do. Murph, in many ways, is the Yoda of the Giants…
Excellent analogy. I was reading a piece on how he doles out numbers to players, etc. Was a cool piece about how he gave Tanaka 37. 37 was wore by Masanori Murakami for the Giants in 1964 (first Japanese player to play for the Giants). I thought that was cool that you have a clubhouse guy who has that type of history, and ties it all together with current players. Murph is THE MAN!
Chi, I also read that even though 25 isn’t retired, he won’t hand that number out. I think Murph is a baseball God.
I hope the Giants are taking care of Murph and his family, as in money or otherwise, and if/when he needs it, health care. He IS the Giants, in many ways…
It was pretty cool being able to watch this with my dad….Last “big game” we watched together was the Game 7 loss to the Angels in 2002…We ended up leaving the “breastraunt” around the sixth inning to find a bar closer to home…Ran into the local pub, screaming for them to switch over to ESPN, which they obliged….When Pence made the shoestring catch, I gave a screaming, “fuck yeah.” Of course, it was 12:30am and only a couple reguLars remained belly up to the bar.
Nice thread Edd…I agree with your points. BTW, Tanaka is Japanese, not Korean.
I had by no means thrown in the towel. There is just too much ball left, and with a short winning streak here, maybe Sabes and crew will consider adding some pieces.
Zito for the sweep today. He’s due! And I am hoping like hell he busts my prediction all to hell (3 of 4 in this series).
BTW, I got an email from Twin. He’s had a rough fee days and is unsure if he will go to the hospital. He asked me to pass this along to all of you (and I am including myself as part of the target audience): You are all FOS. He said the gay-assed smiley face is optional so I am adding it. 😉
GO GIANTS!
Rough “few” days. On my phone…fat fingers and all!
I knew I was FOS. I just haven’t been reminded of it as often when Oracle is in for maintenance. Though, Mrs. Snarkk is an expert at reminding me at the most inopportune times…
Thanks for the update on Twin, Chi.
And yes in only Twin’s ornery style I’m honored to be FOS !!!
Get better soon Shithead..uhh Twin
🙂
Yes, in this instance it is a wonderful thing to be FOS.
Looking back at last night’s tilt, I dunno what it means for the team for the rest of the season. Maybe it’s a shot in the arm. What I do feel is that it cements Tim’s place in Giants’ history. Whether he stays or goes next season, his legend is now complete. Two Cy’s, two WS rings in which he played different roles. Now, he gets his no-no while a Giant. For me, among many characters deserving, he’s the one player that stands out among them in this championship era, especially in the 2010 season. When he was on in 2008-2010, batters did not want to face him, they were scared. Not that he’d hit ’em, but he’d make them look like chumps. Last night will stand out to me like the first playoff win at ATT against the Braves in 2010, when Timmeh just dominated, arguably a better pitched game than last night when you consider the strength of the opponent and the circumstance. That was one of the best games I’ve ever seen anyone pitch in a clutch situation. It set the tone, as in, “hey, we’ve really got a shot to win this whole damn thing”. Lo, and behold, we did. Now, I’ve got this one to remember, when he pitched on guts and guile those last two innings or so. I hope it didn’t damage him for the rest of the year, that was a lot of pitches…
And in the interviews I saw after the game he had no ice
Yeah., Murph tried to hand Tim a jacket, and he didn’t take it.
Ice is for drinks and injuries per his dad. The delivery was designed to take the stress off the arm. Don’t know why people don’t get that. Giants might end up regretting signing Matt instead of Tim.
Dowd…uh, yeah…Cainer has struggled of late, but I think it might be premature to make that statement. But, the way Tim has strung together a few quality starts, it makes ya wonder how it will all shake out with signing Tim, or not.
Funny thing is, for all the talk of clubhouse angst, they sure looked loose and happy this series. Winning sure helps, but from Panda’s HR the other day to Buster and the sneak attack on Timmy (his grin is epic), they seem to be back together on the same page. Yes, it’s the Pods, but still and all they look loose and happy.
Hope they can use this to get on a roll. Snarkk, I said the same thing last night. Timmy finally comes around, and stretches out with a 148 pitch night. I hope it doesn’t wear him down. AS break and all helps, but we’ll see.
Just saw Freddie Freeman injured his thumb making a tag at 1b and declares himself out of the AS game?
WTF? Jenkins has good column today on bud and idiotic means something BS. And talks about Mays often playing all 9–in one game he is subbed for by Aaron, Clemente in another.
I hope this doesn’t mean bochy takes dickhead second place vote getter from LA, tho Hanley is probably at least as deserving. Shea points out since SF shut the kid down second time around (3-13 with 7 Ks) other teams that have seen him for second time have held him to 11-44 with 17 Ks….hardly AS numbers.
I think Timmy gave this team an extra shot of the medicine needed to pump them up for the 2nd half.
I also don’t think it was just a fluke.
For the last 3 years it’s been great pitching would bring timely hitting for this ,at times, offensive
challenged team….
Now, getting Cain back on track might just be the ticket for a very interesting 2nd half.
Hey you got to believe!
LOLineup…
French fry in there for first time.
Torres CF
Scoots 2B
Posey 1B
Sandoval 3B
Pence RF
Francoeur LF
Abrueu SS
QuirozC
Zito P
LOL Brandon Belt
You hit a big 3 run Homer, your in the lineup. the next day! NOT!!! Does not apply to.
Brandon Belt!!! Bochy’s personal. “WHIPPING.
BOY” chained up and constantly beaten by the Skipper..
Francoeur
I loved it when Tim was finishing an interview and said that he had to call his dad. You know that was one proud Pops.
And not lost were the hugs from Posey. So much for them not getting along.
We Score. We Win.
I believe.
Let’s go Zeets…GO GIANTS!!!
once again Z fails the snarkk test. Two batters in and SF is in front; two batters vs. Z, lead’s gone.
It’s time for a phantom malady worthy of the 60 day DL.
Uh, I wouldn’t go that far. I hold judgment until at least the end of this game. He wins this one to send them into the break with a four game sweep….all bets are off.
mm, we’ll see. Something gives–Z is awful on the road, Pads are the shits everywhere lately. Stults doesn’t appear to be mystifying guys either. First time I’ve seen Abreu at SS, looks good.
I know all about Zeet’s sucktitude on the road. Back-to-back jacks and then he opens with a walk in this frame…maybe you have something with that 60 day DL comment….
Very cool 11:56 post, Snarkk.
Someday there absolutely has to be a Lincecum statue at AT&T Park somewhere. Timmy in mid-windup.
Mid delivery, eh? Hmmm…might be a tough one for a statue, but I love where he is stretched out at the point of delivery…he has a stride like no one else. Unmistakable when ya see it.
Get better soon, TF; we’re thinking of ya.
Is Zito auditioning to throw in tomorrow’s Home Run Derby?
With the AS break (not mention not being used last night), I’d think we could go to the BP early and often. Zitts is just serving up batting practice pitches.
You called it John…early hook for Zeets. The way Stultz is pitching this thing is still very win-able…and I think Bochy realizes that. Hit the showers…Barry.
Nice of Zito to follow the no-no with a no show.
Good one, salty.
Ya know, I really liked what I saw of Dunning when he first came-up, but he has been shaky of late. Need to get outta this inning without any other damage. Where the hell is Mijares when ya need him (he of the getting out of the jam with the bases juiced the other night)…
Set up the force/DP.
oops.
WTF…tailor made fucking DP. Come on Scoots…ya GOTTA make that play! FUCK!
Unreal the numbers on Zito on the road. Winless and a 9-plus ERA.
Okay…I’ve seen enough. Dunning is DONE. Get the fucking hook.
Glad to see Bruce and I are on the same page today.
Oy. If they could have gotten the DP, stopped the bleeding at 4-1, they had a decent shot this early to get back in it. Scuts is not the best with the glove, that hurt. Now, down more, its the Pads, but that’s a tough comeback. Zito is about worthless on the road, or worse, isn’t he? Why not DL him when Voggy is back? Keep Gaudin in the rotation. If it’s Gaudin vs. Zito as to who stays in the rotation, there’s no need to think long about that, IMO…
Easy call now…Dunning will go when Casilla returns.
C you later, guys…
Big YEP to both of your posts snarkk and salty…
Think I may go out back and watch the grass grow…this is beyond fucking ugly.
Well, I called a Big Country win Thursday night, and also Giants taking 3 of 4. Fucking sweep woulda been sweet, but that shit is not looking good today…
Sherpas just added two more against the Bums, 3-0 mountain climbers.
Krukow said: “A rare miscue by the Giants’ normally sure-handed secondbaseman.”
Rare miscue? Sure-handed? Seriously?
Sometimes I wonder if Kruk is self or over-medicating.
Twin, chiming in on what Chi, snarkk, AK, Ed, Pawlie, et., al. (Flappers) have said – you are in our thoughts and hoping you return here soon.
They can’t keep sticking Zito out there. Surkamp ready? Good news is, there won’t be any discussion about the buyout.
Finnerty’s may be featured on CSN shortly. I have it droning in the background, and thought I heard Amy G was going to report on an East Village “Giants bar.”
Y’all have a nice AS break.
Wow interesting stat..
The Oakland A’s since June10th 2012 have the best record in baseball 124-72.
All those trades over the years have sure paid off for this club,as they get great value with top prospects in return.
I am using my new iPad, so here goes. Amy G looks better in person and I told her so. She did a web interview with me. Larry Baer breezed in looking Mr. Casual with orange and white striped polo shirt and ASG ball cap, with his son. Our team was playing awful as we all glanced at one of the 24 TVs. Larry said he had been at the Yankee game and that they had been roughed up. I expressed. Mr. Baer returned a look of surprise and frown. I hate the Yankees, I sheishly declared. Bead Lady came by with her magic talisman necklace. Larry: we have your book at home. Enjoyed it! Later, when I gave him and his son Baseball’s Starry Night he asked if I were coming out to San Francisco. I said, Maybe September. Look me up. He hands me his card. This time, I still have it.
Sorry for typos. Best I can manage. “I expressed my delight at the Yankees loss.” Sheepishly.
Remember, it was TF who warned everyone about a Z fixation. Z road numbers of course are ridiculously bad, SF loses basically every time he goes out there (unlike the stretch when we usually won when he pitched). The fact that he is better at home, I mean, come on, it’s a pitcher’s park with big dimensions and cool night air.
Twin has touted Surkamp, and I just don’t see how he could be any worse than what Giants are getting out of Z. I know it’s not Bochy’s style to kick one of vets to the curb, but the SPs set the tone. Bum, gaudin, and rejuvenated Lincecum give the team a lift by pitching well. Z either puts them in an immediate hole, or if SF scores, gives it right back and then some.
I am really down on the Giants adding a starter . . . I also know that Sabes probably wont do anything unless the Giants (position) players show consistency. I agree with him on that point. I have been a big supporter of bringing Matt Garza here and the plot thickens after I read CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman saying that the Cubs have informed Matt Garza he will likely be traded after contract talks didn’t produce an extension. The Cubs briefly discussed the possibility of an extension, but are unwilling to meet Garza’s contract demands. He remains a strong candidate to be traded before his next start. Garza has received interest from the Rangers, Blue Jays, Indians, Red Sox, and Giants, among others. I would love to have him here.
Agreed. Z has 4 Ws all freaking year in the middle of July—Garza has had that many in a month pitching for the Cubs. He knows what he is doing and I’m sure would be great at ATT. Going forward SF is going to need at least one more SP for next year, and it’s unrealistic to expect Gaudin/Vogs as 30 start guys with much effectiveness. A guy like Garza brings rotation up a notch all around; wonder what cubs and theo are looking for?
Willie, your point about “going forward . . . ” is an excellent one, i.e., this is the one exception I think Sabes would use to pick up a quality starter like Garza. Specifically, we have a situation where 2 pitchers are shaky (the ones you mentioned), and 2 pitchers that may not be here next year (Zits and Lincecum . . . although, I am now hoping we negotiate a deal with Tim based upon his recent performance over the last few pitching starts). In short, this year may be lost, but Sabes might feel that setting us up for next year’s run is important too.
You can go back a month or more (when the talk was the Giants had the inside track on Nolasco), and I was saying then that we needed a starter not only for this year, but for next. Team has options on Vogey and Zito. I doubt either is back (Vogey possibly if he comes back and is SOLID the remainder of this year). Tim is a question mark (I agree with Blade…would like to see him back). That still leaves holes in the rotation this year and next. I want Gaudin back in the pen where he adds more value (IMNSHO).
It’s just a shame they could not pick up the last game of the series. The Giants really needed this win to go into the break with a head of steam, but Zito killed the momentum early. Giants could have been 5.5 back instead of 6.5 with all the momentum in the world.
I am thinking momentum is not ALL lost. It was the last game before the break. Lots of “start the holiday early” vibe. Would have been very nice to have the extra game in the win column and one less game in the back column. but it is over now and everyone can take a breath. When play resumes on friday(I love my keyboard, but the right shift key is real touchy and most words where I miss a cap are left hand letters and a failure of the right shift key. I hate when it happens so much I would rather type this long-winded whinge than backspace and fix it).
When play resumes on Friday we have 12 days until the trade deadline. that will be 9 home games and a day off before traveling to Philly where we will be at the trade deadline. That makes a lot of work for the front office and 11 games to build that momentum.
Actually 10 games. The rain-out from Cincy will be made-up July 23 as part of a double header. Giants will actually wear road greys for the first game and be the “visiting team.” Wonder if they will swap dugouts (Giants in visiting dugout – first base line)…NOT.
thanks for that, the teletype machine of baseball news in the UK is on the fritz again.
Hello all, I have not been out here much this year, moved my 87 year old mom closer to me. so I can keep an eye on her. She is still in good health, mentally and physically.
Now for baseball and the Giants. I saw a post game interview with Tim, I don’t know if he was just saying it or he is actiually doing it, but he said he is now watching film of the hitters he will face so that he knows their weaknesses. If this is true and he continues to pitch anywhere near his old self he will be worth keeping. Zito should be gone next year, same with Vogelsong. 2012 was magic in a bottle for Zito. Not to be duplicated ever!! Vogelsong is 35 years old. Might be done. Might have a year left in him. who knows. Don’t offer him a lot of money. I am not worried about Cain, if there is anyone on the Giants pitching staff who should get a pass for struggling it is Cain. He has been rock solid for years. I have not even kept track of how many bad games he has had this year. ppfff. not a problem. Gaudin, well whether guilty or not, I think he has doomed himself. Very nice to see the offense come together. was not surprised by Zito giving up soo many runs. didn’t see much of the game, how was the Giants defense. That has been an issue over the last two to three weeks also. Loved to see Buster grab Timmy from behind in that bear hug. Anynnndfkjasdjfasdkfjasdkl
key board froze, was suppose to read Go Giants
I am not sure if his option can be renogiated or not, but the option on Vogelsong is for 6.5 mil (.3 mil buyout).
I would say the same thing about adding a bat to the OF–going forward, grab a guy you want to hang onto and be a building block. Sabes tried to do same with Beltran and pence…I just don’t think Pence pulls the ball enough for him to ultimately be successful at ATT. He has great power to opp field, but at ATT that’s where HRs go to die. Let the speed guys like Pagan get the triples.
If Pence and SF don’t work out (this year he’s at $13mil), you are going to need more than Frenchy.
Getting a LF and SP will be top of the list items next year. They just don’t have the depth in prospects to pull it off now, imo. Trading Crick for a rental isn’t going to happen. Norris would cost Crick +.
I think they need to Go with what they have and if they are still struggling below .500 at the deadline, try and move Tim Pence Lopez for prospects and reload next year.
Not sure I am in on going “sell mode.” I get it you said wait and see, but time is running out. The way Tim has pitched, I would not have him as part of that list, and would instead possibly have Pablo on it. But I am really not down with going into the sell mode at this point.
why would you move Pence? Solid player. don’t know how to read the Fielding graph on baseball reference but I have not noticed a whole lot of errors by Pence in RF. Don’t forget Right field is no picnic for any fielder.
He’s a FA end of the yr.
Garza’s injury history is a problem. Plus you have to sign him. Don’t see that deal going down. Norris would work but stros want 2 top prospects. This is where the disappointing progress of BrownHembree Etc limits their ability to reshuffle the deck.
Garza is probably the easier acquisition. His salary is much higher, and he is a FA end of the year. I prefer Norris – local kid, under control through 2015 (two years of arbitration-eligibility left), and only makimg 3 mil this year. If they could have him for mid prospects and not top prospects…giddy up.
Irish Kev–good to have you back and I agree with your take on the pitchers. I’m cool with giving Cain a lot of slack myself.
Just got back from 2 nights in Ensenada for golf+. It was a damn good time. At one point one of the guys I was with stumbled on to Saturday night’s game in his bedroom and shouted out that the Giants were winning big in the 9th and Lincecum had a “shutout” going. I got excited and flipped on the main TV and said I wanted to see if Tim could get the shutout as he hasn’t had one in a few years. It wasn’t til after the first out when we realized everyone was standing and maybe he had a no-hitter going! Once we confirmed that it was very cool to at least catch the last few outs. It’s great to go into the break with a bit of momentum and hopefully put that awful stretch behind us.
Good to be back. seems like every July we are all talking about who to get rid of or who can/should be traded, who the Giants should pick up. Etc..ha ha somethings never change. You would think that after 2 WS wins we would get use to the Giants ways. All sports you roll the dice and hope you come out a winner, cause there are no guarantees! GO GIANTS
Anna’s got me off the ledge for the time being with that 3 outta 4 in Diego. But, getting pummeled like that yesterday is a concern — either the team partied hard after the No No and had squat left, or just mailed it in, after Zito gave up the early lead. Either way, that’s not championship type ball. The Scuts’ dropped DP throw was a killer. I’m not sure if this year’s squad has what it takes mentally to get to the playoffs. It’s hard to focus after you’ve won a WS the previous year, let alone 2 outta 3 years. Plus, 3 outta 4 in Diego is nice, but consider the opposition. They truly suck, Bud Black called his own team out publicly after the no-no, they’re so bad — that’s rare. So, I’m not sure taking those 3 means a whole lot, other than it stopped a death spiral. Temporary stoppage? We’ll soon see after the break. If the Dbacks and Reds come in and throttle us, I think we’ll know. If we take those series and play well, then there’s a beating heart. Only 6 1/2 back is certainly recoverable, but only if you start playing good ball. You can’t depend on teams above you to all play like garbage the rest of the season…
Seems to me it’s going to take at least 85 wins to take the West. Giants, now at 43Ws, will need to get 42Ws out of the remaining 68 games to get to that target. That’s .617 ball the rest of the way. Dbacks at 50Ws need 35Ws out of 67 left to play, or .522 ball, to get to 85 wins. I hope I’m high on the wins needed to take the division…
Yeah, I get the 6 1/2 back, and have even talked about it some, but I think the realistic way to look at making the playoffs is by win total. I think 85 may be a bit low, and would say more like 88. Either way, it has them having to play at a .6xx clip rest of the way. It could happen, but they will have to find a new gear and maintain it. A start would be taking 7 or 8 on the upcoming 10 game homestand.
Realistically, the Gyros have to get pretty damn hot, and fast. And hope that LA and the Dbacks basically tread water for at least a month so that SF can catch up and make it a 3-way race by mid-late August. I don’t see how this team, as presently constituted, can suddenly turn around and win at a .600+ clip. Possible? Sure. But, it would be a surprise. Now, I’m reading scuttlebutt on Detroit wanting Timmy. Hmmm…
Our boys playing at a .600+ clip rest of the way. I agree…it could happen. And monkeys could fly outta my ass, too.
Hunter Pence’s park adjusted OPS this is 117, the same as his career number. He played in a bandbox for several years and never hit more than 25 HRs. He’s a pretty good player, producing exactly as his previous numbers suggested he would.
The Giants pitching achieved a season low in adjusted ERA after yesterday’s game. Sabean could pick up 2 all star OFers, and we still probably wouldn’t win the division, if that doesn’t change.
Just a little back tracking from what I said earlier this morning . . . If we can parlay Tim’s outstanding last month into a mega trade, I’m down with that. In my opinion, Tim’s best years have already occurred. He is still a pitcher that can put together quality wins, but his Cy Young days are over. If we sign him to a reasonable deal (e.g., NO MORE than 2-3 years, at $13 to $15 million per year, I would be down with that as well). Regardless, we have a “window” here where Sabes should either sign his ass or trade him while his value is good.
Buy? Sell? I have not fricking clue as to what Sabes will do. I still like Norris, but not dealing top prospects, so that is probably a no go. Garza, while they say he is healthy…I just don’t know. And you would still have to sign him after the season.
Loved this end to an article I read on CSNBA in relation to Tim’s no-no Saturday night:
“Final word of the first half belongs to Bochy, to head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner after Lincecum threw 148 pitches.
“One time, can you ice it?” Bochy begged. “He said no, he’s not going to ice it. He feels great.”
Timmy – I don’t need no stinking ice!
Some of you guys should relax and not get too caught up in winning the division. Lots can happen. I just hope the Giants can at least win at home. If they can’t do that than it’s not meant to be this season.
It’ll take more than winning at home to win the division. And winning the division is the ONLY way I see the team making the post-season.
Is a 10-0 home stand so unreasonable?
I really hope the Giants use Surkamp in the DH against the Reds instead of Kickham.
Seen enough of Kickham to know he’s not ready.IMO
These balls are completely juiced, this is a joke
This sucks without no Giants games on. Same deal with Fantasy Baseball. I could give a rat’s ass about the All Star game and the HR derby, albeit, Cespedes put on quite a show. It’s going to be a loooooong, looooong break until baseball returns. Sigh.
Sigh……
Sniff….
bleep
So Davis rips a callous off his hand swinging and swinging and swinging for the fence and the bleeding begins. Great. I hope he heals before the O’s come to SF. I was looking forward to going to one of those games.
How callous!
with reporting like this I guess the world has passed me by. Does it take hype like this to draw attention to itself?
So for Harper, it was close but no crown, bro. The crown went to Yo, . . . Fielder was the king of the Derby after his wins in 2009 and ’12, but the king went down in Queens
(wish I’d thought of that – not!)
Guess I didn’t miss much, not even Chris Berman’s “back – back – back”
