A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Game Time Thread!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 2, 2014

Ok, time for a new thread. A GAME TIME thread.

My daughter is super into knitting these days and she’s also doing those Rainbow Looms. I’m not a dude that typically wears wrist jewelry but I can’t turn her down.

rockintheob

She doesn’t like baseball but I have at least got her to start rockin’ the sportswear and she’s making me orange and black looms unsolicited. #newgiantsfan’loom’ing?

Giants player I think goes off tonight: Angel Pagan

D-Doosh player I think goes off tonight: Trumbo

I hope Dunston has now been properly schooled in how to do this……

Liking her sense of color. Reminds me of some Halloween Machine from back in the day ~ or two.

Stickman– good to see you posting again! You were one of the vets here when I first moved the blog to wordpress. Hope you “stick” around.

My friends kids have been making these things for me, too. Some kids do them completely by hand without using the loom thing. That last one is by far the most intricate one I’ve ever seen.

she made one about a month ago that was 200 feet long. I shit you not. I’ve got it rolled up on a rolling pin now cause it gets tangled otherwise. She brought it to school and it blew everyone’s mind.. She just likes to do obsessive shit with her hands while she’s watching tv or a movie or whatever.

She sounds like an old fashioned kind of kid. I could play with anything when I was little. A bottle cap, a stick, an empty cigarette pack. And those metal band aid boxes that they don’t make anymore were a special treat.

Arizona TV feed is pure agony. Switching to KNBR to preserve what’s left of my sanity.
    Goodnight.

DId you like the bit where they put the guy on TV who bought the last giant corn dog and made him start eating it on camera? My son now wants to go to Chase Field.

      • Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on April 2, 2014 at 7:47 pm

Man, they’re still showing the poor guy eating that thing.

      • DJLoo's avatar DJLoo said, on April 2, 2014 at 8:04 pm

Maybe later they’ll follow him into the bathroom and we can watch him take a crap.

      • Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on April 2, 2014 at 8:14 pm

It took him a half hour to eat that thing, I’m thinking 10 minutes max to shit it out, Loo.

Ahhh, the dreaded rainbow loom. Word is that boys are into it too. Nice that you get orange and black ones.

I always chuckle at the db on the snakes uniforms. Real douchebags eh?

Pagan making the play. Time to string some hits together.

That’s how you pitch (economical pitch count)and Hudson is a master of that!

Flav spot-on with his Pagan prediction so far.

  11. Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on April 2, 2014 at 8:41 pm

Brenly and the other AZ announcer are killing me with the whole nickname thing for all the AZ players. I’m not sure they even know the players real name(s).
I have a parakeet named Goldy, I’m so sick of these guys saying that name, I may let the bird out of the cage to give the cats a little exercise.

Good to see Huddy mowing them down.

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on April 2, 2014 at 9:05 pm

Yes . . . Also a good move to bring in Lopez against Parra, who sucks against lefties, but owned Hudson tonight.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2014 at 9:18 pm

Bingo. Good to see a guy pitch economically. Timmy is the equalizer?

      • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on April 2, 2014 at 9:21 pm

I hope so. Bum and Cain sure didn’t move the needle on our confidence, did they?

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2014 at 9:29 pm

No shit. Good to see the pen get a rest. Gutierrez was way shakey as hell, as was eomepone else who I can’t remember. Thought we might be dipping into the Fresno arms earlier than expected

  13. Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on April 2, 2014 at 9:02 pm

    Angel brought the glove tonight.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2014 at 9:26 pm

Pagan’s strike 3 was 6″ inside that last pitch by Romo.

  17. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on April 2, 2014 at 9:31 pm

Hudson was outstanding tonight. Pitched economically as AK said. Love these types of games, where the bullpen gets a rest.

  18. Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on April 2, 2014 at 9:34 pm

In my opinion, that was an entertaining game. A fun one to watch for me. Great job Hud.
    Cheers all.

Hudson looking like the #2 hurler early in the season. A real pro. If he can teach Timmy how to be economical, that would be huge…

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on April 3, 2014 at 8:04 am

yeah, and also how best to get enough batters out to last 7 and 2/3.

  22. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2014 at 10:31 pm

Right. Watching Cainer go 3-2 on everyone was disconcerting, Kinda like when Timmy first lost his shit. Cain isn’t a huge strikeout guy, but he did get them at a decent rate. Guys were sitting on pitches or just letting them go.

  23. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on April 2, 2014 at 10:33 pm

Hudson’s reaction to the ball Prado hit, and the catch by Pagan, is pretty funny.

Now we know how Affeldt hurt himself. Idiot. No more injuries for this guy resulting from doofus behaviors. Shaddup, pitch, and get people out. Stay healthy and earn your dammmm $6m a year…

But he hasn’t exhausted all the injury possibilities yet. He can still slam a car door on his hand; or he can sprain an ankle accidentally stepping on the neighbor’s cat; or he can drop a jar of peanut butter on his foot. The universe is big, and the possibilities are vast.

You have an admirable bond with your daughter Flav. I think it’s awesome! Asking for some help here for a friend. I’m actually asking you guys for some help for a friend. Please vote for Grandma Maggie. A fellow giants fan, and more importantly, a breast cancer survivor. This is her dream, and you can help make it happen. Her bio: “It was Friday the 13th in July of 2007.
No, I have NOT been a lucky person.
Breast cancer hit me ten months after my dad had died. I thought maybe I had been lucky and caught it early on the fly with a partial mascetomy and radiation because my team of doctors at Stanford Hospital were Giants
But breast cancer hit a homer out of the park in the late summer of 2008.
I ended up with a double mascetomy & transflap reconstruction surgery exactly two years after my dad passed away.
Three months after my surgery, I felt like I was running the bases again finally with the arrival of my first granddaughter.
I really caught a winner with that one-she’s my reminder of how long I’m cancer free! Almost 5 1/2 years and counting. That’s GIANT in my eyes!!!
Would absolutely love to take that grandbaby to her first baseball game with me as an Honorary Bat Girl this year.
What do you say, Giants? Turn my luck around & pick me!
Send Grandma Maggie and her granddaughter Wynter Moon to the ball park!!!”
Vote here: You Flappers would be dong a great service to a grat woman. http://mlb.mlb.com/honorarybatgirl/2014/gallery.jsp?transactionId=329572605&tcid=tw_honorarybatgirl_2014

Hoping Hudson can teach Tim a few things that will help him be more consistent and successful. (BTW – Love Grandma Maggie’s grand daughter’s name…Wynter Moon.)

Finally, a day game. I’m not in regular season shape for all these night games (yet, another reason I loved last nights game).

  29. dirtnrocksnomo's avatar dirtnrocksnomo said, on April 3, 2014 at 9:11 am

The win last night was great. That’s Giants baseball baby.

What’s up with the doomer talk about Morse? He got a hit and scored a run in the game 1 comeback then got another hit last night and would have scored if he hadn’t been pulled for a Blanco. I’m not sold on the guy yet but there’s I haven’t seen any issues with getting on the field and it’s still early. I like what I’ve seen so far.

You da man, Chico. Get it? Chico and the Man? Freddie Prinz? Nevermind. Shit, I’m old.

Since my mom’s name was Maggie (and my kids of course called her Grandma Maggie), and we named our dog after her, I voted a few times. Great (Giant!) story. Hope she wins. Glad to hear she’s passed the 5 year mark.
