Before Arias hit I was hoping for a Casilla AB.
Mattingly with the 5 IF once bases were loaded was odd move, Giants couldn’t capitalize.
Best Lincecum outing of the season so far despite Uribe blast. Pen outdueled Dodgers and Jansen too. Nice.
I didn’t think the added infielder (believe it was Ethier) was odd, given the situation (runner at 3rd and less than two outs). In that situation, any ball that got through the infield ended the game. Unreal how many times the Giants had them juiced and could not get it done.
Bochy really needs to open it up a bit in certain situations (IMO). I thought a squeeze would have been perfect in a couple of those situations with the bases loaded.
Regardless…what a marathon and great win. This team just GRINDS! They never give up and continue to play for each other. Loving that aspect of the team.
Well, it wasn’t pretty, but I think that last night Timmy did improve over his previous start. Only real mistake was the hanger to fuckwad Uribe.
93 pitches for Tim to get through 5 innings, 64 of them were for strikes. Encouraging that he didn’t walk a batter again. He (and Vogey) while qualifying for wins the last few times need to stretch it out and get deeper into the games (six innings at a minimum). The bullpen won’t last if half of our starters cannot go over 5 innings.
Chi, once sacks are loaded you can turn DP anywhere easier, without Ethier the fish out of water at 1b. I could see it initially, but after bases were loaded I thought he’d change.
Another odd move was getting Wilson up twice to warm up and not using him. From what I understand most guys hate that. And League did take the L.
I get it WillieD…you can turn the DP “IF” the ball is hit at an IFer. The added guy (Ethier) just helps plug a potential gap. I really don’t see it as that odd of a strategy. Again…ball gets through any gap…it is game over. Yeah, well I hope Two Trip’s getting Wilson up and not using him chapped his ass BAD!
Just read in one of the recaps that in the Giants’ last 12 games, their relievers have recorded an 0.68 ERA, yielding five runs (three earned) in 39 2/3 innings. Damn.
