A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

The Cardinals Come to The Phone Park in Hell

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 1, 2014

Well, whether the sun has set or not on the 2014 Giants season, we still have 80 games left to play, starting tonight v St Louis. And if you look at it that way, we either have plenty of time to right this sinking ship or plenty of time to tread water in the sea waiting for the sharks to come devour us–long one of my greatest fears. Is there a worse way to die? Maybe getting chopped up in a wood chipper? Anyway, I digress.

The Cardinals are throwing another pitcher at us that we know nothing about. Marco Gonzales who was their first round pick LAST year. He’s the first player from that round to make it to the big leagues and I don’t know about you, but I am tired of the Cardinals churning out dominant pitcher after dominant pitcher from their farm system.

Let’s light this fuck up.

The latest BBOTD, the one that I think holds so much promise, gets her first test tonight……..

Yeah, blade. .861 would be a nice OPS…

Resigning Pence was a damn good FA pick-up.

I’m at the game and we’re lighting this youngster up! Sorry haven’t read any other posts. Apologize for any redundancy

OK, so keep the runs scoring sarge. Don’t stop doing whatever you’re doing…

We scored a run with the bases loaded. It’s been awhile since that’s happened.

Bring home a winner youse guys. I’m too tired to stay up and I have a lot of prep work to do tomorrow.
Tis the season, and the latest forecast has the Outer Banks batting leadoff.
    Go, Giants.

The thought of a DH causes a negative evisceral reaction, but watching a Timmy at bat is exhibit A, B, and, C for the DH.

Timmy is pitching very efficiently the last couple of innings.

    Nice play by Craw.

  14. willedav's avatar willedav said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:13 pm

All right, there’s my argument–Pence to CF. He runs well enough, has a good arm and you know you will get max effort, all 110. Corner OF will be a lot easier to find.

And I’d bat him leadoff too. He has one of best OBs on the team, and you can stick Craw or Belt behind him with Posey Sando Morse yada yada.

Two more nice plays in the field…looks more like the team that was 42-21.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:22 pm

I’m down with that, willied. Might as well try it. Schulman suggested Pence at leadoff earlier today. Sounds like kind of a Gamer as leadoff desperation move, but Pence is way better than the Gamer was…

Defense is looking tough, A dinger. Timmy is on.

And no more June . . . Flying high in July. Let’s hope the Dodgers stay in 1st was of the 24 hour variety.

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:19 pm

Right now, the Indians are holding on for a 5-3 lead.

Tim is up to 94 pitches. Reliever comes in if he gets in trouble with this first batter.

  18. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:23 pm

  20. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:24 pm

Timmy’s at 111 pitches. Tiring some. I don’t know what Bochy wants him to prove here…

  21. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:26 pm

Did you see him sigh snarkk? He’s gassed after that inning.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:29 pm

I’m on the radio blade. But, Miller’s descriptions were enough to tell me he was tiring. With a big lead, seemed a little overkill to keep him in there laboring after a no-hitter…

      • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:30 pm

He visibly blew out air after that last out in the inning walking back to the dug out. Yeah, he was done.

  22. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:27 pm

Awesome job by Timmy. No hitter followed by 8 shutout frames and just 2 walks against a good club.
Has he finally found the key to pitching again?…

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:29 pm

No, in my opinion he needs to go against other teams away from home. Also, I said earlier that Tim owns the Cards (that’s why I streamed him, along with him playing at home where he has been great). Let’s wait and see . . .

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:32 pm

You bay area guys – is Machi part of the closing committee?????

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:43 pm

According to Bochy the other day, yes. It’s mix and match rather than guys plugged in for a certain inning. But, this could be Bochy auditioning him a little for the closer role. IMO, Casilla should close. He’s done it before, he’s got the stuff for it…

      • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on July 1, 2014 at 9:45 pm

Ahh . . . I was under the impression Affeldt and Casilla were the “committee.” Not too big on Affeldt closing after his last outing. Anywho, great game by Timmy and a collective outstanding game by the rest of the line up.

It’s a different month. Giants played like a different team from the out of tune June swoon. Has Timmy reverted to his masterful ways even with the primo heater? Nice to see production outta the middle of the order. Also nice that lady luck cast her blessings upon Pablo’s lengthy fly. Also extremely nice to see the probability of a return to first place with LA down 10-3 going into the bottom of the 8th. The likely return of Belt on Friday should also be a boon.

Nice that July is upon us and that Timmy is now the Stopper.

Great game last night. Wanted to jump in the mix with Flap Nation, but I was delayed on the game (DVR’d) and wanted to watch the whole damned thing. And watch the whole damned thing I did…what a beauty of a performance by Timmy.

And finally the Giants get the breaks going their way.

In June, Buster’s double down the line is foul.
In June, Pablo’s blast hit the top of the wall and is caught for an out.

Then there was the bang-bang play by Crawford…high throw to 1st, but Buster goes up and gets it and appied the tag as the runner goes by.

Just really nice to see them click in many facets of the game.

And how about those store bought tits, eh?

And as others have mentioned, the bumbinos lost and the Giants sit along, on top of the NL West, again.

Wainright vs. Vogelsong. On the surface it doesn’t appear to be a good match-up for the G-men, but I have a feeling about this game. And I think July could be a very good month.
