Timmy Wins, Scoots Returns

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 12, 2014

Butter him up baby ’cause Timmy’s on a roll!!!!!!

Thank God for Lincecum who has literally risen from the dead to stabilize a shaky pitching staff.

Today marks the return of “Bad Back Scutaro”. My enthusiasm of his inclusion in today’s starting line up is completely tied to my excitement of not seeing Arias/Adrianza/or Hicks in the starting line up. Just seeing him out there will feel good, right?

Speaking of guys who need to do more, Michael Morse has hit 1 home run in his last 31 games. Wasn’t it about that long ago that we saw him grimace in pain at the plate after a painful swing? It would be nice to see him pop one out today and get back on track…….

“Literally rising from the dead” is about as hyperbolic as i’ve seen on the blog, but yeah, Timmy’s gone viral again, so to erect yet another metaphorical mountain. Hey! Even #55’s arch nemesis Goldbunk was limited to a single single. Sweetness and light, huh? Now that salary and two year contract do not look so bad as it appears that Lincecum’s auto reinvention looks to have arrived at a whole new plateau of late. So to continue with the mythological piling it on can we say that this is a serially witnessed second coming ~ or should it read Lincecuming?

I thought the double Morse hit last night was pretty loud, but yeah, if he starts popping them and Pablo keeps doing what he did last night, June could be in the rear view mirror soon.

Yeah that was crushed and hit the top of the wall in dead RCF.
Someone else slammed one off the wall on the fly in RF that only wound up a single because Parra played it really well and made a strong throw to cutoff.
      Life at ATT.

Flav, I’ll admit to envying A’s catchers, but…Vogt is at .378 and Norris at .299 and both of them have OPS over .900. I don’t think that is sustainable; Vogt doesn’t have that many ABs and I’m guessing league figures him out at some point. Good players, just not as good as they are showing right now–and Giants are sure aware of how that can turn around. A’s btw have lost 5 of last 6 on the road.
Last night A’s had Vogt and Moss both in the OF so that’s basically fantasy ball/screw the defense. At some point that will haunt them. Too bad none of these guys can play 2b, where Beane’s team sucks worse than SF.

Back up C is just a traditionally weak spot. LA used about 4 different guys there while Ellis was on DL including the Olivo guy that tried to bite the prospects ear off in AAA. See what Cards do without Molina–they signed Kottaras who has been released by about 3 teams just this year.
Ultimately I’d love for Sabes to jettison Hector in a trade package. If he’s still around come playoffs I’m betting Posey catches him, just like in WS days.

I liked the ‘Colvin in centerfield’ lineup yesterday. It proved that Blanco didn’t have incriminating photos of Bochy.

I’m watching the pre-game right now and am recording it. I was in the left field bleachers for that Dravecky game and I want to see if there are any clips where you can see us. Me and my buddy are very visible in one of the pics in the sports illustrated that came out that week

here’s the box score from the Dravecky game. I remember my buddy Jason coming over to my house that morning and he goes “Wanna go to the game?” Neither of us had anything else to do so we got into my red Fox and scuttled up there. Drank a few beers in the parking lot and then bought a bleacher seat for whatever it was, $5 or something. What a game.

Yeah, saw that game too. Get chills thinking about it. Lower reserve, 3rd base side. The crowd was electric for every pitch in that game. Never heard anything quite like that.

Dravecky came to the church we used to go to in Roseville (back when we went to church!) and gave a wonderful speech and accounting of what he went through during that whole ordeal. Got to talk to him for a couple minutes after church. Incredibly nice guy who went through that major ordeal and came out better than he was.

I was at the game, first base side, I keep thinking lower boxes,I had Lower reserved seats at the time but my buddy isn’t sure where we sat. I do know we didn’t stand during the standing O for him. Sorry, but Dravecky’s alleged association with the John Birch Society never sat well with me. He pitched a hell of a game but again sorry, I’m not a fan.

      • Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on July 12, 2014 at 3:33 pm

yeah, I had to put my personal feelings for the non-baseball side of Dave Dravecky to the side. What he did for the team that day and that year, not to mention the fanbase, was too special to ignore. At least for me. I still get emotional about that day….

      • Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on July 12, 2014 at 3:40 pm

Agree, it was a great day (we took some shit for not standing, but still cheered the game), Watching the next game on TV where his arm blew up, I’m not sure which was worse seeing that or Theismann’s leg break. Both had me wincing and not wanting to see any more replays.

When the team has been shutout this often by every pitcher in the league, seems like, does Sabes need more evidence that some surgery and replacement parts are needed? I don’t know what he’s waiting for to stir this moribund pot. If I’m a starter, I’m probably getting pretty pissed off now with this one month+ run shortage. Voggy’s got nothing to be ashamed of today, good start for him. Is that 4 or 5 starts in a row or something where he’s gotten no run support while in the game?…

The obvious real description is how bad the Giants hitters are. Flemm says now Giants took their 6th shutout in two weeks time. I wonder if that’s some record?…

Well, maybe the Padres can get it done again tonight against the Dodgers.
It was entertaining last night when Puig made another huge baserunning gaffe. He got tagged out, for the third out, trying to advance to thirdbase on a flyout to leftfield. He was out by so much, he didn’t even bother to slide.

Speaking of *irritates*, the downtown where I work has been plagued for some time now by an Impeach O group that sets up its stand with posters, leaflets, etc. For the third time in a week they have set up right outside our business on a corner with much traffic.
One of their more annoying posters features a large headshot complete with Hitler style mustache. Absolutely nothing can be done about them–I’ve asked other business where they used to hang out and some of our customers too–but, what a nuisance. O isn’t going anywhere til next election, and even if you think O-care is the worst thing since polio, comparing him to one of the world’s worst ever leaders responsible for untold death an destruction is ludicrous. Wish these guys would just leave or that whomever is bankrolling them would take his $$$ elsewhere.

Bad idea, and kind of arrogant, for MLB to take almost 5 days off for the All-Star game, with the regular games not resuming until Friday night. Not good treatment of the fans, the consumers of the industry’s product, in my opinion.

  49. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 13, 2014 at 12:04 pm

A classic case last night why it shouldn’t be just automatic strategy to intentionally walk someone to set up a force in the bottom of the ninth. The Dodgers had a runner on second with none out, and the Padres intentionally walked the next guy. The problem, of course, is that now the pitcher is going to be in really big trouble if he walks another batter; and that’s, of course, what the Padre pitcher did- walk the bases loaded. The Dodgers ended up winning on a sac fly.
Just the Padres being the Padres.
