Swept Away in San Francisco
The alarming part is that this was not a surprise, or should not have been a surprise, to anyone. Just like Uggla sucking worse than a replacement player should not be a surprise to anyone. Peavy pitched better than his results, I lay a lot of that on Buster. He has to do a better job of blocking balls and his half assed effort in looking Dee Gordon’s way led to a run being scored. You don’t look a guy back without the ball, dawg….
So that’s out of the way.
Now what?
Yeah, that shit was pretty cool. I mean who wouldn’t want to live in a trailer in the parking lot of a beach in Ventura and chase around low level criminals? Angel was cool. As was Huggy Bear. . . . .
Loved all those detective shows. Columbo, McCloud, Rockfish , , ,
Yeah Rockfish and Gandy. “You ain’t do’in too good Rockfish tak’in scraps from the County!”
Well, I watched last night until it got to be 4-0. Flipped back and saw that Bum was still pitching in the 4th and the score was 5-0. No. I am not throwing-in the towel, and I am not looking for any ledges, either. I am just fucking exasperated with the team’s play (especially at home). Un-fucking-real. I may take Zumiee’s lead and flip-over to the NFL network for a spell.
The parallel between the offensive struggles of last year and this are pretty uncanny. If the Giants can limit their production to 1 run over the next two games, a very achievable goal, they will have exactly matched last year’s run total for July.
For the team to reproduce the horror of 2011 (570 runs scored for the season), almost every player in the starting lineup, including Belt and Pagan when they return, would have to see their season numbers decline from where they are now. That isn’t going to happen.
Great line from Vida Blue on KNBR: “The Giants hitters are turning pitchers into Cy Young winners, and they’re turning Cy Young winners into Hall of Famers.”
That IS a great line.
As of now all the fans have left is the Park and Garlic Fries. The Team has disappeared.
Cue the music: “I feel gloomy, oh so doomy.”
6-20 at ATT in the last 26 homes games?
That is flat embarrassing, and near unbelievable. I don’t care who’s been out, or hurt. That’s hard to do…
Beyond fathoming. Historic in its failure-ness.
Sucktitude at its finest. Oh snap!
Esp since they started out 22-9 . . .
Under .500 at home. I really don’t get Bummie’s splits. He’s horrific at home this year.
My view is that the team is simply playing to its available talent level, given the prolonged absences of Belt and Pagan. Granted, they are doing this in a pretty damn . . . unusual fashion. They are in the middle of the pack in runs scored, and are above average in team ERA. If the drought on offense continues through the rest of the season, then it’ll be time to re-evaluate the roster. Again, I really don’t see that happening.
Thank goodness for that bullpen and Tim Hudson . . . .
Well, at least you said it’s the offense. They were off the charts in runs scored at the beginning of June.
Monumental suckitude has brought them to the middle of the pack.
Chuck, look again at where the team was last year at this time. The reason the team had fallen apart by the end of July last year was because the pitching had been horrible the entire year. The reason they are not out of it this year — with the very same offensive production — is because the pitching has been pretty good. The argument is purely relative. The offense this year and last has been middle of the road so far. They’ve gotten there both years through extreme collective hot and cold spells.
two words: SHEEE-EEEESH
Or horse sheeet
Utley to the Giants? Could be worse.

Also, while our boys are scufflying right now (yeah, that is putting it lightly), be thankful that we are not Red Sux, Cubbie, Rox, etc. fans.
For all its warts and disappointments, baseball of all competitive sports is all about magic. Carlin sidled around with the topic, but made it pretty clear. There is bad magic as well as the good variety. The problem with Giants magic this year is that Jobu and other baseball gods are sick and tired of a tightwad ownership that sold their souls to ATT. It is the NAME of the venue which is the magical cause behind this down the big swirly play of SF at home. Willie Mays Field asap. Swallow your extra income, investors. Disavow the ATT contract any way you can and honor the greatest player ever to don spikes. He IS still with us. Imagine for a moment the haunting in a few years time.
I know there are one or two convicted rationalist-materialist-Darwinist yada-yadas on this board who will automatically and axiomatically tend to wanna discount my caveat. But let it fester in your subconscious then ~which it will: ATT is toxic magic inimical to winning baseball.
Uh, if it wasn’t for those pesky championships of a couple years ago, I might roll with that.
So they need hats for bats?
Uh, I have to agree with Charlie (Unca) on this one per his 11:32.This from one of those convicted (no, not THAT type of convicted) rationalist-materialist-Darwinist yada-yadas. Stick – I am not opposed to the idea, but from a realistic standpoint, it will NEVER happen, and while I believe in karma, mojo, magic and the likes, I really do not think the naming of the yard has an effect on the win-loss record of our boys in Orange and Black. Hey, but I did get a good chuckle out of it all.
Okay so I guess it is time for someone to say the glass is half full. Now granted watching to Giants lose and the way they lose is quite painful. My Sphincter muscle hurts just thing of the ways they have lost. With that said, the Giants are only 2 games behind Da Bums. So the season is not lost yet. some players are due back very soon. so their is still time to turn this Shit around. Lets be a little thankfull we are fans of the other teams in the division
We are not fans of the other teams in the Division

Yeah, Belt can’t come back fast enough. We’ve got the Swiss cheese lineup these days.
Pagan I’ll believe it when I see him. I’d be happy to see him by mid-August.
“On the road again”. Those lines of tune of verse keep ambling through my head. Can’t hardly wait.
Suck it up and win one at home. It’s time to end this ineptitude. GO GIANTS!
Fuck Yeah! What Nipper said!
Ban the DH and mandatory labeling for GMOs!
I was planning to go Friday and Monday. Losing enthusiasm. Someone give me a push.
There was a time when I didn’t care if they were 30 games out – I was going no matter what…
PUSH. Just go, Loo. We need an on the scene report to the Flap.
The just recalled . . . the blast from the past . . . Travis Ishikawa!
. . .and Juan Perez . . .
Did they DFA Morse and Blanco?
Abreu DFA’ed, Duvall optioned to AAA.
Shoring up the defense, I guess – interesting approach…
Was he part of the Bowker I or II crew?
Yes . . .
And in more disheartening news, Matt Cain is off to see Dr. Andrews . . .
What are you, in the clubhouse, Chuck?
I have an in with Brett Alexander.
TJ for the Horse coming up..

Seeing as I just reported that, you are being redundant and inane.
But what else is new?
