Winning Big and Flying HIGH
I’m not sure, but I think 15 runs is the most runs I’ve seen the Giants score (in person). I’m guessing I’ve been to 250 games or so in my life. I vaguely remember being at a game in the 80’s where Darrell Evans hit an absolute BOMB into the bleachers (and a second one later in the game) and the team won 18-1. But I might have just dreamed that.
There is a fairly hilarious video taken of me dancing inside the stadium. If my buddy decides to send it to me, I’ll post it here. It’s good to be able to laugh at yourself.
Headed into altitude now. And I’m not just talking about Coors Field. This team is flying HIGH these days!

interesting observation about the Lincecum appearance. When he got called into the game the crowd went INSANE and gave him what felt like a one minute STANDING ovation. After Braun hit that monster bomb there was barely a low groan from the crowd. But every time he would throw a simple strike they erupted in celebration. It was the oddest scene—40K literally trying to will their former hero back to glory…….

as many of you know, my daughter doesn’t give much of a shit about baseball. That always makes taking her a bit of a financial grind since I know she won’t appreciate the seat she gets ($350 for the 6 of us to sit in the center field bleachers) and I know going in that I’m on the hook for buying her some gear once inside the park because she likes the “look” of a Giants fan.
So around the 4th inning she’s bored and wants to shop. Check out how many freaking people are in this store in the middle of the game! If anyone wonders how much dough the Giants haul in with merchandise sales, well, they just shouldn’t wonder anymore….
I got out of there pretty clean– 1 tank top for $32 and arm socks for $15. At least she LOOKS like a fan. 🙂 Cute as hell too.

So, Bochy got greedy trying to coax another few pitches out of Huddy, clearly laboring at around 88 pitches in a place where he’s historically sucked. His last start in SF, Huddy was dealing at 87 pitches at the end of 8th, yet THEN Bochy PULLED his ass in the 9th for Casilla, who coughed up the save. WTF!?…
Time for Bochy to rest on his laurels is AFTER a parade NOT at the Box of Rox.
I get it about Bochy owning a fair share of this with his being asleep at the wheel (damned fine band, by the way), but Pablo with two fucking errors owns even more IMO.

My daughter is just now understanding what is actually happening when we watch a game together. I can’t tell if she is really interested or just thinking that Jessie will come on if she stares at the TV long enough. The pic in the thread is pretty much my future so I may as well accept it.
Not holding down the Rockies was disappointing but picking up the 1/2 game was still pretty rad.

Sliders just don’t work well at Coors altitude, period. So, Romo may not be the best guy to close or come in when the game’s on the line. His slider flattens out, and he’s got a cupcake fastball. Not the best combo for Coors. Get a least a split of these 4 at the House of Horrors and move onward to Detroit. They’ll need arms ready there, those guys can hit, but aren’t the greatest in the field and their Pen sucks…
As others have said, I am not sweating this one. Fuck it…it is the pinball arcade referred to as Coors Field.
The one pause for concern of late is the bullpen, though. We will need them to tighten shit-up down the stretch if they want to play ball into October.

Strickland supposedly has a pretty good slider. So, evaluating his upside on just one Coors performance, “where sliders go to die”, is more than a bit premature. A good slider and a 98 mph fastball, even if straight, is a pretty good combo at sea level, if you can command them. I’d like to see some more of him at sea level and after a week or two with Rags and “Gardy” coaching him up. They can probably work with him to get some more movement going on the fastball…
There’s something about his delivery I don’t like. It’s the way he takes the ball out of the glove before he throws it. I think he gives the batter too good a look at it. Just an observation.
