New York!
So we should have at least a few NY Flappers going to a game this series. Or at least threatening to.
Sydergaard/Harvey/Niese. Jeez, that is a tough line up. Well, the first 2 anyway. I feel a beat down coming on but that could just be the fumes from last night’s bbq still wafting through my senses.
Here’s a pretty good article on our new stud first baseman Chris Shaw. I had completely forgotten about the Sandoval compensatory pick so Chris Shaw, for free, sounds good to me.
People are tripping on what this means for Belt. It means nothing. If Belt continues to perform he’s our first baseman. If Shaw rakes like he’s supposed to, he’ll bring a shitload as a trade chip.
It’s all good unless they both suck.

It’s funny how Bickford’s ganja bust knocked down his value. I bet half the first round picks smoke weed. Maybe all of them. I could care less that Bick lights up. I care about what he does when he’s NOT baked…….
The photo that Xoot provided was spot on image of Jeff Spicoli. I could give 2 shits about him toking some herb, but the dude needs to add some meat to his bones.

High 90s, that’s the goal.
I know BUm was a little younger, but when he got drafted he was a spindly guy compared to who he is today. Hopefully Stoney doesn’t see getting drafted as the end, rather the beginning. Hit the weight room, listen to your coaches, he’ll be fine.
Hey bud, let’s party!
Heading to Queens tonight, hoping to make it 2-0 on the road trip. Might be a little tougher, though, with “Thor” Syn-dah-gawd going tonight. Maybe Mets will have some trouble first time vs. Bright Eyes. No Murph this series, the latest Met to land on DL, but they should get back promising catcher D’unno, possibly by tomorrow. Hoping to see Pence back tonight.
I’ve seen John Barr in the media a bit today and he seems happy. If John Barr is happy with the picks then I am happy.
Duffy was chosen 568th overall in 2012. Consider the picks remaining I anticipate a homegrown starting outfield in no time.
3rd round: #95 overall
4th round: #124
5th round: #155
6th round: #185
7th round: #215
8th round: #245
9th round: #275
10th round: #305
Tip of the cap to Brian Sabean, who’s not only managed to win 3 World Series titles in 5 years, he pulled a rabbbit out of his hat by seizing 2 first round picks in the year following the third title. Yes, I know they’re compensatory picks, but still pretty cool.
Well played, sir.
Syndergaard’s last outing was very rough. He got worked over. He knows he’s facing the most obdurate offense in the NL, limited pop but ohh that Conga line. A careful approach should work against this guy. Don’t try to do too much too soon. Keep working those counts. Dink singles, take walks and go the other way. Seems that approach has been this team’s M.O. in most of its victories to date.
Anybody care to project how many 3-2 counts Belt will put up tonight? Even when he ultimately (and frequently) K’s on those occasions he often wears down the starter. Now if he can remind himself not to go too long on the bullies, but go for the first decently driveable pitch.
My read on the rotational lineup for the Mets is that tonight our chances are fairly close ~ say 45-55. Tomorrow night could be the mismatch vs a very tough starter. We maybe have a 35% shot on that one. Game three looks something like 60-40 Giants. Taking one of three in NY without either Bumgarner or Cain on the mound for SF would not be a major catastrophe. It would make for a kiss your sister road-trip. Meanwhile the LaBumbos crunch and munch the Snakes.
Syndergaard had one of the weirdest pitching lines in his last start, that I have seen in quite some time – striking out 10 Padres and giving up zero walks yet coughing up seven runs in just 4.0 innings of work.
As Stix alluded to, the Giants have the top road offense in baseball and are 2nd vs RHP with just a 17.4 K% against them. On the surface, Thor seems to be in a bad spot; however, the park is a big advantage for him and might play down to something more neutral.
Cashner’s start the previous game vs. Mets was equally weird: 4.2 IP, 11 H, 6 R (5 ER), 12 Ks and 0 walks. I think it was the first time there were double-digit hits and Ks with no walks by a starter on consecutive days.
Yeah, I remember that one too (albeit, the Thor pitching line hurt more, since I had him in a few DFS games). π¦
Jeff or Phil?
early Lincecum, photoshopped with blonde hair?
According to Henry yesterday in Chron, Giants are 14th in road ERA in the NL, only better than the Phils.
Gotta account for park factor, esp with 2 trips already to Coors, plus launching pads in Cincy, Milwaukee and Philly.
Hopefully Shea feels more like home to the pitching staff
Hey, for those who follow Sac, what about pen guys there beside Strick? Anyone that would make Affeldt (or anyone else) expendable/susceptible to mysterious groin pull?.
Willie, I would have said Steven Okert, especially because you mentioned Affeldt, and Okert is a lefty. However, he is having a hard time dealing with a hitters league (PCL) . . . Right now, he has a 4.33 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. The “good” is 33 SOs in 27 IP. I’m not an expert on how they weigh the fact he is pitching in a hitters league . . . Regardless, the Giants are very high on this kid, where I have read he has “closer” quality pitches. Very unique, since he is a lefty.
Imo, all the SPs (everyone not named Bum) that are only going 5-6 is gonna cause issues down the road.
Not sure the older guys can handle the workload, and Kontos early season success might not be sustainable.
At the point where a guy isn’t available (like other day when Romo was sick), one more live arm out there would help. Petit hasn’t exactly been what I thought he might either.
Best stats by far among Sacto relievers is right down Broadway. Michael, i believe. Another Sabean & Co. snapup from another organization or two. Can’t recall his specifics off the top, but they are feelthy.
Yep. He is a righty. Big kid…I think he is 6’5″. In 25+ innings he has a 1.05 ERA and 0.818 WHIP. 38/6 Ks/BB.
I agree with Blade re: Okert. Yeah, he is scuffling a bit in Sacto, but is the lefty out of the bullpen probably closest to being MLB ready.
Cam Inman β@CamInman 2m2 minutes ago
#49ers Colin Kaepernick: “With our new cordinator and quarterbacks coach we’ve cleaned a lot up and made it easier to go out and make plays”
What a concept, actually snapping the ball before the play clock hits zero…
Oh, oh department. In the SB Nation draft analysis Grant Brisbee rated every single choice \by the first 23 teams, including Brisbee, as Grade A. Choice # 24th, by the LaLaLanders was a gimpy hurler which Brisbee rated dead F. Yikes!
strangely feeling like a Yan Gomes bomb could be coming tonight. Call me crazy?
Well, don’t use him in your 3 Amigos LU, ok? The catcher gods are telling me the same thing. π
Gomes just went yard and Blade had him in our h2h against me…Wow just wow!
Great thread, Flav. I was just telling my daughter this morning that she and I need to make a trip back to NY when the Giants are in town to play the Mets. She has been to a game there before…would be a first for me. And of course, would have to hit Finnerty’s.
Hoping we have a number of Flappers there representing the Black and Orange/Orange and Black! Go Giants!
1. Aoki LF
2. Panik 2B
3. Pagan CG
4. Posey C
5. Belt 1B
6 Crawdaddy SS
7. DuffMan 3B
8. Blanco RF
9 BenHur RHP
Is Pence’s sore wrist from the same arm that was broken?
Yes.
Baggs reporting that Pence still having wrist discomfort when swinging. No bueno.
I’m supportive of police, in general; but this jackass at the Texas pool party thought he was in a TV show or something:
http://boingboing.net/2015/06/08/mckinney-911-ninja-roll-gif.html
Looks like Paul Blart Mall Cop. Which is a job he would be lucky to get after this stunt.
Cpl. Eric Casebolt, the McKinney, TX police officer, the imbecile who pulled his gun on the teen age girl in a bikini (concealed weapon?), appropriately resigned.
Looks like the Giants went with a legacy pick in the 7th round. Jose Vizcaino Jr. Come on down!
Saying we got massive first bagger Shaw for free is a little bit off. Even though it is an extra first round choice he is rumored to be getting a signing bonus bigger than Panik, Belt, Craw-daddy and the duff man.
combined.
But this sure makes losing panda a little bit better
Gravy. Losing Panda might be the best thing that happened.
That’ll work. The ground game gets a run.
Hey, hey, whaddum i say earlier today (11:00 posting) about Belt drawing a full count vs Syndergaard? Gets the walk too. That’s the process. Wear this kid down with the death of a thousand cuts ~ and the occasional walk, single and even a double here and there to keep on with that conga line.
Bright Eyes must love the bright lights of NY,3 perfect innings with 5 K’s..
Flav with another ridiculous prediction coming true. See his 1:50pm post above.
haha. Not bad. I should have played him against you guys. I have him on about 30% of my line ups tho so I’m good
I have him in all my LUs and I decided to take him out of our 3 Amigos cash game, when you said that. Dammit. Hasn’t hurt me yet against you guys, but I’ll be pissed if Grandal (his replacement) does jack shit. π¦
Heston great piece of hitting.
2 big knocks!!
Matt Duffy’ is hardly impressed with Sydergaard.
Basically he calls him : “Sent it yard”
Betcha there some happy folks and friends up the Hudson a bit from NYC who were at the game tonight to cheer on the Duffmeister. Rate he is going double figures look like a do.
Thor is supposed to be the pitching phenom with a pedigree. Heston is supposed to be a “mutt at some dog pound’s death row” who’s sentence got commuted and went on to winning the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
Go figure.
Some “dogs” get the better trainers and handlers. AND some dogs got more heart.
Now the Panik attack. After visiting the White House last week the bright lights of NYC don’t faze that couple of kids. In fact they seem to thrive in the spotlight. Wondering how East Coast Sports Network will handle this one tonight. If the Evil Empire happens to win they will focus on them sure nuff.
Panik Attack fan club going nuts!!
Man this kid is gonna win a batting title some year, and it might be this year.
Duffy&Panik tied up again with 5 on their wager. Both look like double digit HR’s easily this year..
Who the hell does Heston think he is ~ Bumgarner or something? I mean Giants pitchers don’ go two for 4 and knock in a couple runs in the process.
…and he’s throwing a pretty nice game as well.
Nice play Crawdady!
Kid impresses.
wow, the bounty of good fortune just keeps on coming for us Giants fans. Congrats HESTO PRESTO!!!!!!!! Isn’t MacDog at the game? Buzz Saw? What a performance!
“Chris No Hit Heston!!!
Awesome Job!!!
Your the Man, You own NY tonight!!
Party Time Fuck yeah!!!!
OMG!
Yes!’
Witnessed live by MacDog!!!!
Cain just got pushed back to August…
No No! Whoop. Ben-Hur…what a game. Masterful!
Maybe September call ups Loo. π
AND I WAS THERE!!!
I wondered that! Nice! Report pending?
Yes, later.
Hesto Presto!
Mets went down with 3 called third strikes. What? They were hypnotized? Hilarious.
SF Giants have thrown a no-hitter in 4 straight seasons
2012 Matt Cain perfect game
2013 Tim Lincecum
2014 Tim Lincecum
2015 Chris Heston
No-No Nanette. Wow! Oddsmakers might have lost their shirts tonight had they put out lines as to which pitcher was gonna make history. Betcha they’d have laid down 20-1 or something along those lines. Imagine if some crazy Giants fan had placed ten grand on the table. He’d be looking at having netted the price of a fairly decent house ~ well not in the City or anywhere near Silicon Valley.
what a bunch of pussy Met hitters. I’m gonna say that’s the first ever no hitter where the pitcher struck out the side in the 9th, all 3 with 3rd strike called.
One thing may have been resolved tonight. We know the identities of our #1 and two starters. Now don’t go asking me who is which.
Dollars to donuts he was just as excited about his 2 hits and 2 ribbies.
If someone armed with a boobtoob tunes into ESPN tonight give us a bit of a report on Heston’s heroics. It could be amusing.
Congrats to Chris Heston. And very cool that some Flappers got to be at the game.
Well, one anyway…
Chris Young of KC had a no no into the 6th going until Plouffe tripled to right.
to be clear, I was only feelin’ one bomb from Gomes. So this second one, I don’t know where the fuck that one came from. π
Ha!
Absolutely amazing, BF…
Macdog, congrats on witnessing the no-no! Is that your first? It must’ve been thrilling. I haven’t been so lucky yet, but maybe some day. As usual, there looked to be a ton of Giants fans at the Mets ballpark.
Probably 50% bandwagon jumpers…
Unrea! No no for the Onega man!!! Never seen one with no walks but 3 hbps. When Heston is on he’s awesome.
Hate to say this but Kerr has to bench Curry. . He looks lost out there.
Way to go Mac!!!! That’s just spectacular that you saw that.
Mac – so cool that you were there tonight. First no-no in person? And I believe you were the only representative of the Flap Universe? I am still just sitting here going “wow.”
Panik’s home run power is not that surprising to me.
Duffy’s is a shock. That was not an easy pitch that he turned on…
MacDOg, it’s very likely that whatever write up you do tonight I’m just going to turn into tomorrow’s main thread. So….take your time, get it right. lqtm
Seriously though, that is SO FUCKING AWESOME that you were at this game
Will you still call it “Wednesday”?
Warriors look pathetic.
You have to wonder if that head injury is affecting curry.
The rest of the team just looks slow and lethargic. Bogut despite those 2 quick baskets is pathetic. They hit every open shit. We font hit zmything
Della’s 3 pointer was filthy.
Barnes and curry should be out.
I Haifa bad feeling abou this game. L
Holy crap. Warriors getting schooled.
What annoys the fuck out of me is they never show fouls. Thompson geor called 2fwet off the ball. Fuck. Curry can’t get that off.
Heston takes the sting off of how awful Warriors are. Had to stop watching. 37 at half?? Cav’s known for their defense? I didn’t think so. Hope we pull it out, but the worst 7 quarters of the year by a mile and it has to be in the finals???
Amazing that Curry has been so bad for such a long stretch. Anyone remember a reigning MVP being this bad?
Well, I missed every pitch of Hesto’s no-no, but no apologies. I was at a senior awards night for my ACL-surgery-recovering-on-crutches daughter — actually, for her whole school, a tough urban school facing tough challenges — as tough as anywhere in America, I’ll venture. It was a heartwarming and rewarding event, seeing these kids excel and be cited for it. Lots of emotion. Lots of fun. So, then I went back to her and her mom’s house, and my daughter and I chatted about politics: labels, conservative, liberal, etc. The irony is that this diverse “liberal” environment kind of turned my daughter into a “redneck.” (Useless labels.) I reminded her how I had worked in Barry Goldwater’s 1964 campaign and went over Wm. F. Buckley’s house a year later. And look at my now! (Whatever that means.) Then my phone started blowing up with texts, which I ignored. Until I learned the no-no was “in the books,” to use the phrase of Mets announcer Howie Rose.
It sucks to lose but to give it away like this sucks. Curry is playing like he’d a rookie.
The lack of experience in the NBA Playoffs cannot be understated. I said it before, that could be their downfall especially against Labron.
Curry is infuriating tonight.
3 turnovers down the stretch. But some key shots. I still think we can take this mainly because I don’t think deLly does this again. But game ; is monumental. And marl Jackson is an idiot.
This is their 3rd straight playoff appearance. I don’t buy that at all.
Yeah but they never came this far. Big difference between the finals and the first and second rounds.
Nice effort at the end but Labron took them to school.
LeBron. Fucking phone.
Fucking Delly from st Mary’s. Saw him for 4 years there.
Still think we win this. Curry has to play 4 quarters. Not. 1.
He was dogshit through 3.
Too much on Curry. Where’s Thompson, Dremond Barnes?
Heston is the first pitcher to end a no-hitter by striking out the side since Sandy Koufax in 1965, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Nice company.
So awesome that Mac was at the game! I listened through 8, then went to play some tennis. Verified the no hitter out on the courts.
Pawlie–awards assembly at my school was last night and I am the emcee. Always a great, but draining evening with some emotional memorial awards etc.
I’m obviously happy with the Cavs, but totally impressed as well. I only watched some of the first half, but I agree with the idea that slowing it down with LeBron running the point is a good call with the shape their roster is in. Still a long ways to go, but I’m glad the Cavs are showing some fight. Delly playing a key role on the Cavs is mindblowing. It felt like he played at St. Mary’s for about 7 years.
Congrats to Heston; you all said everything so well. I’ve got nothing to add. The Warrior game was a trip. That was an amazing comeback by the Warriors, but it’s the kind of thing you see in basketball, where a team digs a huge hole, and then makes a heroic comeback, and then just falls a little short at the end. If the Warriors can win Game 4, everything will be just fine for them again.
I could compare Duffy and Panda:
Sandoval went 0 for 4, his last-place team lost 1-0, and he’s hitting .239, with 5 HRs.
We all know what the Duffster did tonight, and he’s hitting .289, and has 5 HRs, for his team that is 1 game out of first place.
RBIs:
Duffy- 26
Panda- 17
