Blunder
Unless Hinch thought Verlander was done it was a huge mistake to take him out of the game. Either that, or he was banking on a Gattis bomb (unlikely). Once Reddick walked to lead off the top of the 7th the importance of getting the tying run into scoring position became critical. Bunt him over. Verlander could have easily accomplished this and stayed in the game. As it was, Gattis did worse than what Verlander could have done by giving himself up with a bunt out.
I’m tired of watching games get shitily managed. And now it looks like the one decent chance the Astros had of winning this thing is gone.
“Lance McCullers” looks and sounds a lot like “Livan Hernandez” if you squint and slur your words.
We’re fucked.
I think all of you need to do this activity at your jobs, get on here and share out.
About the only scene I laughed at in the movie Keanu was when one of the guys did a team building activity with a bunch of gang bangers.
“I ran track in high school and I like to hold my gun like this”
“I once killed two guys with one bullet and I saw an advanced screening of The Blair Witch Project”
“Some people thought that shit was real”
Kershaw’s hair is maybe not quite in Bryce Harper territory, but its close.
Naaah. Harper’s is douchey, Opie’s is just long.
I think they both have that Prince Charming in Shrek thing going on…..
Nice call on that Who song too…
We did a 8 week extended team building exercise when I worked at Visa that was such a nightmare.
The company made about $1.2 million working with 5 groups at the company. They had us leading co-workers around a park blindfolded. Walking across crosswalks. Touching things and ‘building trust.’ Then we sat in a room and talked of the things we didn’t like about our boss. We filled two 30′ white boards. He almost quit on the spot when he read them. He got to do the same thing to us. All it did was generate a shitload of animosity and anger.
Of the 5 groups that did the team building 3 were completely disbanded and 2/3 of the people were let go, and the other 2 were downsized pretty heavily.
Limited the damage anyway. Hou has to score.
Gold.
Agree. Never met a team-building event that wasn’t immediately followed by layoffs or restructuring. Just say no to team-building events….
Come to think of it, maybe the Giants should do some team “building”, followed immediately by some restructuring…
Ha!
gold.
Spent some b-ball time as an assistant with coaches who were into “team bonding” and would spend practice time sitting around and talking. Complete and utter waste of gym time to me.
The only good thing is they were offsite at a bunch of cool places like the Pacific Athletic Club in Redwood Shores, Emerald Hills park, and a few other spots. I talked to one of the women running the deal and said “let me in on this scam.”
Anybody else nervous about these next 3 turns thru the LA lineup by this bullpen?……
Breaking news: Astros assistant hitting coach Alonzo Powell is the Giants new hitting coach.
I would’ve preferred Cincy Powell…
..or maybe Cozy Powell
ha I remember Cincy Powell out of the ABA, high scoring forward.
Saw John Brisker when he was a Sonic vs. Warriors.
I have no memory of Brisker in the NBA – only with the ABA Pittsburgh Condors, I think…
Or Colin Powell
wonder if pitchers around league taking note of what’s working vs. Bellinger who has turned into K machine.
Hope atleast Giants pitchers do.Bellinger has a huge hole in his swing on those breaking balls inside knee to ankle..
6 Ks out of last 7. 0-3 tonite came in .167.
With all the ridiculous homerun hitting in this series, interesting to see that both lineups tonight have only a couple of “hitters” with decent World Series batting averages. Lots of under-.200 guys…
Morton looks pretty damn good again tonight. Sort of the Astro’s version of Vogey.
I’d let him bat and stay in there at least until they score a run on him. I think he can take this damn thing home.
Great comparison.
agreed hoping for 4 inning save…does that count with this kind of lead?
I would be very surprised if the Dodgers fail to at least bring the tying run to the plate before this one’s over.
It just can’t be that easy for the Houston Astros and their bullpen…
No walks.
Morton is absolutely painting the shit out of the strike zone. I’m impressed big time.
Oh, bullshit Joe. Just STFU . . .
Morton!!
Great job Charlie!
Let Him Bat!
Kinda miss “Let Timmy smoke!” ….
I guess I will wake my eight year old up to watch the bottom of the ninth. Let’s hope the ‘Stros bullpen doesn’t give him nightmares.
Maybin sucks but I hope Morton gets that call in bottom 9.
Nobody even looked at Morton in the dugout after the 3rd out. Beltran sitting there like’s its a Cactus League game. I love that baseball code shit!
Time to put down these cockaroaches…
Morton: 46 pitches, 33 for strikes. That’s how you do it…
I swear I’m almost as nervous as I was in 2014.
What no Rooster 🐔 tonight???
On radio these announcers have had to put saran wrap in their cubicle for all the Kershaw praise they’ve given. Ridiculous…
Morton dominating their sorry asses!!
Good for the Stros !
YEAH
ASTROS!
ROOOOOOSTER! TIME FOR DINNNNNNNNNNNERRRRRRR!!!
Tremendous.
This is joyous on so many levels. LOL!
One word that is epic perfect for what I’m feeling for Doghairs and their fans right now:
“Schadenfreude”….
Congratulations Houston!!’
We have no problem dominating the Dodgers tonight!!!🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾
What a bad-ass performance by Morton.
good job Stros!
Guess it ain’t year of the rooster after all.
Have a nice life.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m so happy to be wrong!!!!!!!!
Astros, you rock!!!!!!!!!!!
Hah!!!!!! I loved it when Joefuck said “Kershw pitched great. Houston has used 5 pitchers.”
I’m thinking, gee. What’s the score, Joe?
Happy for Houston fans and that town, where I spent 3+ years of my life.
This has to feel great with the BS they’ve been through with the hurricane…
LOL
Told you guys this morning I was optimistic. Houston offense is damn good, and Darvish didn’t have super history against them.
Giants could use two Springers…
I’d settle for one!
Maybe he has a brother?…
Woulda been awesome for GHou to win this at home, but it has to hurt like a MOFO for the Dog fans to see the Astros celebrating on their field.
Hah!!!
This is WAAAAAY better than if LA had been bounced in the NLDS !
Up to the very edge of a WS win, and Sorry, Chumps:
Long drive home for the Doghair fans. Weren’t they crowned the greatest team ever in July or August? NOT THIS YEAR BOYS!
Houston be like . . .
LMAO
So fucking awesome!!!
So many things went right for the Dodgers this year, they caught a zillion breaks and they still couldn’t win it.
Did not see this coming. I was with Zum on this. Super impressed with Houston for pulling this off against a great team.
Hey, no biggie Doghair fans.
Just wait another 29 years…
What a wonderfully fantastic humiliating way for the Fodgers to lose…
“Zumiee with the perfect all time jinx coming right out of the gate this morning…good job!!!”
Yeah, that’s what I was doing! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Kudos!!
LA: Still kein in 29 !
SF: 3 in 5, Baby !…
Should be some good reading in the LA Times the next couple of days.
yeah. wonder if there will be any casualties or fallout roster/FO wise.
The Dodger blogs will be EPIC tonight !
They’ll have to publish the numbers for the suicide prevention hotlines !…
zumiee — you’ll need to find the best ones for us 😉
San Dog…think you need to go Do Wah Diddy Diddy for your tesm building exercise. The start cant be beat and I still think it should replace the National Anthem…
One of my boys back home in San Jo just asked where are the camera shots of Fat Ass Lasorda??? And Fuck Joe Buck….
Much pain in Dodger Land:

was that a taco bell commercial insert that flashed up there, during the Correa marriage proposal? Free tacos when? if what?
The bums spent $250 million to try to win, and they drafted some good players, too. And yet they failed this year. That’s very pleasing. And the Astros built a great team, draft by draft, FA by FA. They’re a delight. The Giants, unfortunately, don’t seem able to imitate either model.
Team moves this winter may tell a lot.
Another Dodger fan:
Guys that were our foundation all year (Turner, Puig, Bellinger) just vanished in the most important series of the season. Hat tip to the Astros, because if they weren’t playing us I’d probably be rooting for them.
But the stark reality that we may not be back here for a while hurts real bad. I understand all you can ask of a team is to get to the playoffs and see what happens, but I’m getting tired of NLDS and NLCS being our consolation prizes.

zum, I’m lovin’ these Doghair fan blues.
Is it wrong to enjoy others’ pain?
Hell no, when it comes to Chavez Latrine — now aka the Pain in the Drain….
It’s amazing how the Giants can win the WS the three times they make the playoffs, whereas we can’t win a WS despite making the playoffs 7/10 years. Fuck them.

Giants are in their heads even now.

And another:
Couldn’t Watch It
….watched about one out of the 6th inning. I don’t know—after Game 2, I just kind of sensed we weren’t up to the task. Great, exciting series, but there was never a doubt in my mind how it was going to end, and after 28 years, I guess I just wasn’t going to torture myself. Hopefully after coming thiiiiiiisss close, we’ll go the final step next year. Next year. That stuff gets old, but it’s the only thing we’ll ever have. Always seems like we just lack something. Hard to understand how such a powerful offense and tight bullpen just….went away. This one will hurt forever.

I feel heartbroken.
I’m irrationally angry at Yu, but man did almost the entire offense fall dead at the wrong moment.

Oh, well.
Helluva World Series to end the season.
Congrats to Houston, they finally won a WS.
The Giants waited 1958 to 2010 = 52 years.
Stros were an expansion team in 1962, wait till 2017 = 55 years…
“I keep telling myself to give The Orville one chance, but I haven’t followed through.
Have any of you gone there?”
I made it through half an episode and gave up.

Alcohol can help
Almost feels like the Giants won the World Series . . . Maybe not, but it definitely takes some of the sting away from this putrid season – seeing the Bums go meekly into the night.
LA needs to get something straight . . . I’ve read a couple of columns from the LA Times and the consensus seems to be that this WS loss is on Darvish. WRONG.
Two immediate reasons come to mind: 1. Kershaw’s epic fail in game 5; and, 2. LA’s game 7 “Silence Of The Bats.”
The only reason why Opie isn’t taking more heat is because of his contract. He’ll be in LA for quite a while. Conversely, Darvish is a rental (free agent next season). Kershaw’s the goat . . . and I don’t mean Greatest Of All Time.
A little late here having been on the road in what’s becoming something of a tradition during a World Series Game 7, but . . .
HELLLLLLLLLLLL YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Five straight years of Dodgers chokes, and this one tops ’em all! What’d they used to say in Brooklyn, Wait ’til next year? Hahahahaha.
Giants new batting coach hired.
Astros connection.
“The Giants have hired San Francisco native Alonzo Powell, the Astros’ assistant hitting coach, as their hitting coach to replace new bench coach Hensley Meulens, The Chronicle confirmed Wednesday night.”…
Glad to see new blood in the coaching department, but this will have almost zero effect on the field.
Agreed, but can’t hurt…
True. See what’s what about moving dead weight (Pence, Span . . . although Pence did come alive a bit in September).
Also, they need to move on from the Panda experiment. Can his ass in the 1st or 2nd week of Spring Training.
This is on Kershaw. Can’t be an ACE, get a 4 run led. Chunk it. Get a 3 run lead back and chunk it again. Love it, but CK has to own this one!
I’ll be seeing Bellinger’s aimless hacks in my nightmares for awhile.
