Too Many Choices
I never got around to watching Taxi Driver. Maybe this afternoon. I’m 45 years late on seeing it, I feel good about waiting till my schedule opens up.
I was going through scenarios that would draw a direct line to how the Giants could have won last night’s game but when you strike out 17 times you don’t deserve to win so fuck them.
I’m nearly out of toothpaste. I’m gearing up now, preparing myself, so that I’ll be able to harness the energy and focus needed to spot and purchase this:

Don’t even get me started on potato chips. I’ve completely given up going down that aisle. And I haven’t had a bowl of cereal since the early 80’s so I won’t be able to participate on that debate but feel free to kick that one around….
totally agree with MT on this.
looks like cupcakes are on a different plate.
Mrs Dirt went off the rails with our last toothpaste purchase and picked up some arm and hammer. So nasty
You know your days are numbered when you start using Sensodyne – which also has 73,000 varieties…
Some chick I was dating a few years back convinced me to start using *Tom’s* deodorant. It actually made it into the top 3 reasons of why I broke up with her….
I unloaded one over perfume (hers)…
Special K is good…but there are almost 17varieties.
It was obvious Cowboy had a big zone but still Giants swung at shit nowhere near the plate.
I prefer the base model. (Though the chocolate one is an occasional guily pleasure)
Had a bowl of regular Special K with banana chips on them this am. Yummy.
As for potato chips, I don’t like these modern ones that are kettle fried or whatever. Too oily and brown.
Give me regular Ruffles, or better yet old school Laura Scudders with ridges.
I’m also the rare person who likes BBQ chips every now and again.
And don’t get me started on corn chips. I don’t care for corn chips at all.
The real Special K:
yeah Dr. K…where is that from? what team was he on then…Jersey (ABA)?
Looks like he’s with the Spurs in the last year of the ABA.
Since that 3-4 game vs. Pads Craw is 1-17 with 7 Ks. After giving him the day off vs. LHP he hit 8th yesterday vs. RH SP. He’s gonna have to whack his way out of the 8 hole, tho he has lot of company in guys struggling.
SF is absolute bottom of MLB with .170 RISP.
They are wasting what has been good to very good starting pitching…
apparently you missed Pablo raking one down the line, my man! Eh! RAKED! lqtm. I’m still not worried about the hitting. These guys are much better hitters than the crap we trotted out there last year.
1. Joe Panik (L) 2B
2. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
3. Andrew McCutchen (R) RF
4. Buster Posey (R) C
5. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
6. Pablo Sandoval (S) DH
7. Mac Williamson (R) LF
8. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
9. Gregor Blanco (L) CF
thank God. I was worried he mighta been moved out of the 7 hole.
back when men pitched.
Too few of the real bad ass pitchers left!
60’s-70’s Were the toughest breed of starting pitchers all time. Take the ball and never give it up to a BP guy, and I guy like Bob Gibson would stare down his manager if he even approached the dugout rail.
I’m a bbq chip junkie the ones from Hawaii are the bomb sweet&spicy fantastic texture..
Sensodyne after a baking soda pre-brushing
I used to love Lays Limon potato chips, my cardiologist, not so much
Post spoon-sized shredded wheat
July, 13th, 1976: The day I saw Taxi Driver. It was a sweltering afternoon in NYC, with light distorting heat waves eminating from the sidewalks. It was hard to tell if the movie was over. Cooled off with a few beers and watched the All-Star-Game. Randy Jones vs Mark Fidrych, not sure if I stuck around for the Giants’ lone representative, John Montefusco to make an appearance.
I’ve noticed that when they roll the credits, the movie is usually over…
Are you talking to ME?
How could I resist?
You appeared like an angel… Out of this filthy mass…
Don’t be a whore,your only 12 years old,Go Home!
cardiologists lol. Almost anything you like is probably bad for you— coffee beer burgers/red meat chips (salt) desserts (sugar) yada yada.
Line I always liked from Last Poets was about “dying for a cause or just because/because you’re going to die anyway.”
Alright how do you motherfuckers remember the year and even the damn DAY you saw TD?
Because I remember I watched the All-Star game afterwards and googled the date.
It was on a Tuesday 🙂
Sometime in 2007, me and SOAD had a major battle with Twin over my trade proposal of Feliz, Lowry and Taschner for Ryan Braun. Twin thought it was way too much to give up. I think years later he conceded he may have been wrong on that one…
Man, getting a concession from TF wasn’t easy. He once complimented one of my posts by saying: “That’s not your worst post ever.”
lulz!
Love that one…
Seaver and Nolan Ryan, two guys who really knew how to use their legs to pitch, a mechanical point that helped them throw so many innings without blowing out their arms…
Jaylen Brown wow
34/8 wasn’t enough. couldn’t get that last board away from Giannis.
Best thing about NBA imo all the young athletic bigs, with skills who can run floor.
GS gonna face one soon, major challenge.
Marketing has worked its way down into basic products. Tooth paste and potato chips are now marketed like new cars.
Krukow and his umpire scouting reports. Apparently he’s the only person on planet Earth who has those.
couple good patient ABs to start.
What a crazy AB.
Finally got him. 21 pitches? guy’s thrown 28 and has 1 out.
that was cool.
I’m sure that’ll be some kind of new record, like: Most pitches in first inning without allowing a run.
49 pitches, bases loaded and a BIG FAT GOOSE EGG.
New low for Giants pathetic scoring ability. Belt with the AB of the year. Then bases loaded w one down, can’t score. Only the giants can make the oppo throw 49 pitches and still they can’t score…
In 2014, the Giants drafted Beede from Vanderbilt Univ.
In 2015, the Dodgers drafted Walker Beuhler from Vanderbilt. The Dodgers just brought him up. He’s pitching tomorrow night, and then against the Giants during the doubleheader next weekend.
Is Kershaw going to pitch in the Giants series? He’s scheduled to pitch on Wednesday, so there’s a chance he misses next weekend.
Finally.
Longoria just made up for that DP, with that blast thank goodness..
and just started the DP to help get Cueto out of jam.
Able to kill a beer 🍺 and some nachos down during Belt epic AB.. which lasted 13 minutes!!!
Can you imagine how long the AB could of been if he was facing Gearrin???Double the time??
Mac, it looks like the rare occasion when the Giants miss a Kershaw start.
Yeah, whoever puts together the Dodgers’ Master Schedule Plan to ensure Kershaw starts every series vs. the Giants seems to have messed up.
17 Ks last night, but none by Mac. Agree Flav….you whiff 17 times ya deserve the L.
I haven’t had cereal (store bought) in a long time. I am hooked on this Julian Bakery Pro Granola that I buy on Amazon. 14 grams of fiber and 13 of protein. No sugar and no fake sugar. And the shit taste awesome.
Missed the first run and came into the shop as Longoria went yard. Been out tending to a tree that has a mold on it. Quite the process. Off to do some weed eating…hope our boys keep this lead and win that first series!
Yard work?! Man, you’re making us look bad. 🙂
What’s with the watusi this Angels pitcher does on every pitch?
saw this guy when they played the A’s. unbelievable, makes Gearrin look quick.
ha guy came inside to Belt once too often.
Man kuip just put his all into that. Loudest hr radio call I’ve ever heard him do
I’ve said it before, Kuiper is better on radio. He seems to like it more than doing TV. He brings more energy on radio.
I think all of them have turned corner on Belt. Flems TV call was pretty emphatic too.
Couple days ago Shea had long column in Chron in defense of Belt.
I heard that HR call on the radio too. Very loud and triumphant.
Belt’s had more swings today than a Rowand BP session.
lulz that’s a good one.
Lulz…
😂
This game performance should earn Belt at least a coupla games off from the Belt Bashers…
Craw is signed until ’21. We’re going to need him to get his hitting problems figured out.
He’s the king of hitting into the shift.
I’ve always said he needs to lose weight, but it doesn’t seem to bother him in the field, where it logically should…
Ohtani’s swing doesn’t look like it should work.
Damn! Sweet double play!
Man kuip got into.thst dp too. I think you’re right Z, he is energized on the radio
Yeah, he seems to really like the radio play-by-play job of painting the whole picture.
Wow, that’s a heckeva DP.
Love me some Cueto!
That was a excellent play by him Craw,And Belt to turn that 2 ball and get out of the inning!!
Love to see Belt swinging the bat. Keep it up.
Belt is streaky as hell, but when he gets hot, damn….
Here comes The Mound…
Fucking Gearrin!
Why didn’t Watson start the inning?
ohtani almost beat that. No pitcher runs that well I can remember.
Bochy needs to stop with his premonitions about Gearrin. He sucks. Send him away. Wherever they sent That Doughy Fuck, send him away
Watson, man. What a stud.
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/brandon-belt-sets-record-sure-make-rob-manfred-upset-230553623.html
Should be the closer if Bochy has any sense..
Jesus Christ Strickland is gonna give me a heart attack.
man what a rocket. How’d that stay in the yard?
Angel announcer had the game tied…
FINALLY!
easy win. lqtm
Musclehead has no biz being the closer.
Move Watson into that spot…
They’ll never get to him…
I miss Randy Messenger…
Refrigerator Mover
could have been a gw 3 run bomb. Strick just doesn’t have command of a Watson. He’s off the plate just enough no one swings at a ball outside, then he misses right in a guy’s happy zone with another one.
Strickland has no business being the closer. He doesn’t have the makeup for it and, more importantly, he doesn’t have a quality secondary pitch he can throw for a strike whenever he wants. He’s so concerned about hanging that slider that he mostly misses with it.
A series win and a
of hope.
Belt’s first inning record AB totally F’ed up the pitching for the Angels the entire game.
He’s HR’d in 4 straight games. He’s earned a little breather from the Belt boo squad.
Giants apparently can’t score without HRs…
Won their 1st series of the year!
Bring on the Nats and keep some runs coming. Strickland vs Harper should be entertaining drama…
Three hard hit balls in that 9th inning and one just-missed fastball.
Belt has OPS up to .962.
A Rod just said, ” what a nightmare it has to be for a hitter in the shadows.”
So why the F do you start a game for f-ing 5 PM on west coast?
If Belt played in the Big A with that team, his offensive stats would be off the charts. That jet stream to right center — he’d hid 40+ dingers a year assuming he doesn’t get beaned…
gotta swing the bat to hit 40 dingers. He needs to keep swinging the bat as he’s done the last few games.
Well, 4-6 is a helluva lot better than a 3-7 roadie.
That was a big win.
If this team could score with even a thimble full of authority, it would be above .500…
Nats’ Hellickson is throwing 87 MPH fastballs.
I don’t understand this directtv commercial where this beatch is tossing all the dudes electronics out the window. Is she mad at him and breaking up with him? Or does she just want an unencumbered electronic lifestyle?
He looks guilty of cheating on her.
Too bad the guitar suffers collateral damage.
The Crawford gnome commercial got old quick. In general, the Giants promo commercials are meh this season.
If Babe Ruth played at AT&T he would’ve had a so-so career…
if he had played against people of color you might be able to say the same thing….
that’s not true
Well, we’ll never know. Seems to me it’s rather obvious that if he were playing against the best athletes the world had to offer, his fat ass might not have had such an easy time of it
It’s an exaggeration, but stadiums mean a lot. The current Yankee Stadium is laughable. McCovey would’ve hit 900 homers there. Aaron’s total if he played at the old Yankee Stadium would be cut in half. Mays woulda hit 800 at Fulton County.
the best African American players would’ve challenged him, no doubt. But he could afford to drink and get fat against the competition he faced because his talent was so extreme. (I remember reading that he didn’t like to go to movies because he could see each individual film frame cast onto the screen.) I have no idea whether this author is crazy, but a lot of the stats he relies on seem solid:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Year_Babe_Ruth_Hit_104_Home_Runs
Mays would’ve hit well over 700 if hadn’t spent so much time at Candlestick
It’s been said many times before, but the case can also be made that the numbers for Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams would be even more impressive if they had switched ballparks.
Williams was another guy with super-human eyesight
about 1/3 of the way down in this article Olney compiles some anecdotes about the eyesight of Barry Bonds.
http://www.espn.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=olney_buster&id=1937391
Ruth also got credited with many HR’s that bounced over the fence. When did they change that rule? 1931 I think? He retired in ’35 so it’s anyone’s guess how many he bounced over the fence for “home runs”
i think Craw has 4 kids, right? Can’t underestimate how much his family life distracts him from his work life. I’m not judging him for being a family man at all it just might explain a little bit of the lull his career has hit. It might mean nothing, who knows.
